2013 Gundlach Bundschu Sonoma Coast Gewürztraminer

Wine Enthusiast: "From old vines planted on the Mayacamas Mountains, this Gewurz is pungent in lychee and grapefruit, a trace of pepper, ginger and clove hiding beneath the surface. Medium-bodied and dry, it offers a rich interplay between herb and spice plus freshness on the finish." (10/2014)

2013 Zind Humbrecht Gewürztraminer

90 points Antonio Galloni: "Bright golden yellow. Intense aromas and flavors of ripe tropical fruits and sweet spices. More explosive than the 2012, with even better lift and precision. Finishes clean and long, with serious peppery bite. “I sell ten times as much abroad as I do in France,” Olivier Humbrecht told me, a consequence of the fact that this is a classically dry wine (in France, they like their Gewürztraminers on the sweet side). Made with grapes from the early-ripening Herrenweg site, which Humbrecht picked in the last days of August and beginning of September." (4/2015) Wine Enthusiast: "T ...Read More »

(Web-2014)" K&L Notes: Jean-Baptiste Adam may be a new name on our shelves, but they are celebrating their 400th anniversary of grape growing! 2013 TWR (Te Whare Ra) Gewurztraminer Marlborough

97 points Raymond Chan: "Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with lemony hues. The nose is elegantly full and densely concentrated, unfolding fine-featured waves of exotic florals, rose petals and Turkish Delight. The richness and presence is sensational and the finesse of expression exquisite. Medium in sweetness, the seamlessness of texture and refined unctuousness is the feature on palate, with considerable fruit extract forming a concentrated core. Flavours of honey, florals and musk are beautifully presented with a luscious density. The acidity is discreet and alcoholic driv ...Read More »

2008 Louis Sipp Osterberg Gewürztraminer Grand Cru

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Mango aromas drive this rich wine, full of honey as well as spicy fruits. It is not so much weighty as intense, with a sense of warmth. Now mature and ready to drink, it still retains a youthful fruit character." (10/2013)

2012 Stony Hill Napa Valley Gewurztraminer

"The quantity may change, and dramatically, but the quality never! Our 2012 Gewurztraminer is floral elegance in a bottle. It's and intensely aromatic wine with hints of honeysuckle and citrus, and on the tongue it has a bright cirtus taste, some say grapefruit, some say orange peel. This lively mouth feel is followed by a generous viscosity on the finish, which is surprising for so young a wine." (from the winery)

2012 Zind Humbrecht "Clos Windsbuhl" Gewürztraminer

93-95 points Antonio Galloni: "Pale straw. Pristine aromas of canned pineapple, ripe pear, apple juice and white flowers. Silky and precise in the mouth, with complex, deep tropical fruit and flint framed by harmonious acidity. Finishes with a compelling floral perfume. The older Muschelkalk limestone soils of the Clos Windsbuhl really deliver a more feminine, graceful style of Gewürztraminer. This will match perfectly with a lightly curried dish. (ID)" (4/2015)93 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Intensely perfumed, this rich wine has also kept a fresher side. It’s very fruity at this stage, with mango ...Read More »

2012 Hubert Meyer Gewürztraminer Vendage Tardive (Previously $42)

This is an expressive and intense style of Gewurztraminer. Loads of rich & ripe exotic flowers and fruits jump out of the glass and slip right onto the palate. For such a young wine this shows very nice complexity and has quite the range of power guiding it through. If pairing with food go with a selection of strong cheeses or maybe a pork roast rubbed in Asian spices then slow roasted for hours. Heck, if you have some Foie Gras lying around… Or, if you happen to be a student of wine, this is a fun play on late harvest sweetness vs. power. (Eric Story, A... Read More »

2014 Framingham "Vendage Tardive" Gewürztraminer Marlborough (375ml)

97 points Bob Campbell: "Deeply coloured - rich gold. More about dehydration than botrytis. Picked when berries are raisined with a touch of botrytis. Very sweet with good Turkish delight, pot pourri and exotic tropical fruit flavours. A "foie gras" style. Rich, powerful wine - great texture! Xmas cake and creme brûlée. Sweetness is supported by good acidity." (11/2014)97 points Raymond Chan: "The nose is fulsome and powerful, with packed aromas of opulent and exotic tropical fruits entwined with honey, caramel and root ginger, along with layers of musk and marmalade, revealing a little nutty detail. 2008 Pfeffingen Estate Gewurztraminer Spätlese

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Pfeffingen 2008 Gewurztraminer Spatlese looks very sweet on paper with its combination of 40 grams residual sugar and a mere 7.2 grams of acid, but in fact there is an admirable sense of refreshment for the variety and a vintage-typical buoyancy. Lychee, rose petal, black tea, musk, and wood smoke on the nose all follow on a subtly oily palate otherwise dominated by luscious quince preserves. This finishes with surprisingly animated, juicy generosity and at the same time some animalistic intrigue. It will remain a delight for at least the next 7-9 ye ...Read More »

2009 Albert Mann Gewürztraminer

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Overtly sweet even at 14% alcohol, the Mann 2009 Gewurztraminer incorporates much of this year’s crop from the Altenbourg. Celery seed, litchi, rose petal, and saline, marine breeze in the nose lead to a full, subtly creamy, palpably low-acid, but fortunately persistently juicy palate, finishing somewhat simple and obviously sweet. Jacky Barthelme insists "this is too good for a generic," and I sympathize in terms of his willingness to declassify cru material, but in terms of the wine’s performance, it seems to me to have been classed correctly. 2003 Domaine Marcel Deiss Gewürztraminer Bergheim Back In Stock!
2003 Domaine Marcel Deiss Gewürztraminer Bergheim

91 points Wine Spectator: "A honeyed version, very lush and caressing on the palate. It unfolds its honey, grapefruit and litchi notes effortlessly, cruising to a long aftertaste. Fine balance and harmony. Drink now through 2008. 28 cases imported. (BS)" (10/2005) Wine Enthusiast: "Another distinctive wine from Marcel Deiss, this one offers up piercing aromas of spice and lemon-scented furniture polish. Braced for piquancy, the palate instead receives an oily coating of sweet pear and pineapple flavors. Long on the finish, though it does show a touch of alcoholic warmth. (JC)" (8/2006)

93 points Wine Spectator: "**Highly Recommended** This harmonious version walks a fine line between lightly sweet flavors of ripe green melon, pear, clover honey and toasted almond, accented by dry and zesty hints of ground spice, herb and smoky mineral. 2013 Handley Anderson Valley Gewürztraminer

Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star and a Good Value* From its very concise aromas of flowers and spice to its dry and fairly buoyant young flavors, this nicely made Gewurztraminer exhibits very fine varietal focus and a good bit of energy. It has the slightly bitter edge that the grape commonly shows, yet it is never more than a touch, and its hard-to-resist freshness makes a most convincing case for drinking without undue delay." 2001 Williams-Selyem "Vista Verde" Late Harvest Gewurztraminer (375ml)

89 (+?) points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale green-tinged gold color. High-toned aromas of peach, apricot, clove and cinnamon. Not at all unctuous or thick; in fact a bit tart-edged, with slightly shrill flavors of orange peel and overripe pineapple framed by fresh acidity. This is even sweeter than the 2000 version at 16% residual sugar (it's carrying more alcohol as well), and yet the acids seem harder too, at least today. Additional Recommended California Wines." This 'grand cru' single vineyard Gewurtzraminer is distinguished by its balance of intense aromas, richness on the palate, and elegant structure. Tropical fruit and floral aromas and flavors are balanced by fresh acidity, making this a full and flavorful wine that delights on its own, but is also well matched to rich and spicy dishes, sweet and sour dishes, or strong cheeses.

2012 Weinbach Furstentum Gewürztraminer Vendage Tardive Grand Cru (375ml)

96 points Antonio Galloni: "Bright golden yellow. Pure, tangy, botrytis-rich aromas of apricot, peach syrup, orange marmalade, honey, smoked meat and cinnamon, all lifted by a note of lavender. A glyceral, honeyed essence of Gewürztraminer in the mouth, but the palate-saturating flavors of tropical fruits and spices are wonderfully fresh and long. This seems richer and deeper but more forward than the 2011 Mambourg VT. (ID)" (4/2015)

2006 Ökonomierat Rebholz Gewürztraminer Spätlese

90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale golden yellow. Supple aromas of rose petal, nutmeg and clove. The juicy passion fruit flavors are nicely embedded in the creamy texture. The bright but refined minerality currently hides the wine's residual sugar. This is fun to drink! (JP)" (1/2008) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Rebholz’s 2006 Gewurztraminer Spatlese delivers classic rose petal, mint, cinnamon, and smoked meat aromas; a lush palate with barely noticeable sweetness; and a satisfyingly juicy finish not marred by any excess of alcohol or bitterness. 2005 Josmeyer Gewürztraminer Hengst Grand Cru

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pure, high-pitched aromas of smoked meat, cinnamon, rose petal and minerals. Fairly dry but rich and classic, with lovely harmonious acidity giving shape and thrust to the fruit, spice and mineral flavors. Youthfully tight but very pure and vibrant. Conveys a sense of lurking power. Finishes long and spicy, with a hint of licorice. This sample was slow to open, and I suspect this wine will shut down soon in the bottle. Meyer calls '05 his best vintage for gewurztraminer since '89 but notes that he did not make any Brand. (ST)" (7/2007)90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Gewurztrami ...Read More »

The layers of flavor include orange and grapefruit peel, dried apricot, raisin, clove and myrrh. Long finish. Drink now through 2036. 130 cases made.
