1985, 1989-1990 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Tasting Lot

Of the 1985 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco,Praise from Antonio Galloni writes: "Produttori del Barbaresco is one of the few estates in the world that continues to produce fine, age worthy wines at consumer-friendly prices. Although the Produttori's Barbarescos - the Riservas in particular - age extremely well, until recently the wines haven't been considered collectible. Because of their reasonable prices, most of the wines have long been drunk up by the estate's loyal supporters, making older vintages nearly impossible to source, even in the secondary market. This tasting provided an extraordinary opportunity to get a progress report on 21of the estate's single-vineyard Barbarescos. The wines spanned 5 importan

2005 Massolino "Parafada" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Massolino "Parafada" Barolo (93RP, 92W&S, 91WE, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Barolo Parafada is gorgeous in this vintage. The Parafada is the only Barolo here that sees French oak, and although the estate has lowered the percentage of new oak, the smaller barrels give this wine an explosive quality that is all its own. In 2005 the Parafada is all about textural richness rather than delineation, but it reveals an enveloping, sensual personality with attractive warmth that carries through all the way to the long, smooth finish. This beautifully balanced, sublime Barolo is another wonderful effort from the Massolino brothers. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025. " (04/2009)

2006 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino (96JS, 96RP, 94WE, 93WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " In the first flight of five, #3 had by far the darkest color. Deep, rich, sweet, fruit-filled, and oaky nose is very sexy and dramatic. Lots of black cherry, pepper, minerals, leather, and chocolate. Equally dramatic in the mouth; clearly a youthful Brunello in the modern camp. We are particularly impressed with this wine’s mouth feel, which envelops the palate. Big and brawny with tannin to shed and very good acidity. Long, powerful, consistent finish. Already impressive, yet a great candidate for the cellar! Not to everyone’s taste, still, half the room fell in love with #3. (Executive Wine Seminar)" (03/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Gaja "Sperss" Barolo ((96-98ST), 96AG, 96RP, 95WE, 94JS, 94WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full, deep red. Compelling perfume of musky strawberry, wild game, smoky minerality and underbrush. Broad and sweet, but with outstanding definition and a magically light touch to its fruit, mineral and spice flavors. Wonderfully brisk, complete wine with an explosive back end featuring great tannic structure and outstanding aromatic lift. I wouldn't call this powerful wine fat or silky, but it's utterly seamless and incredibly suave. Should be a cellar classic. " (10/2011)

The palate delivers rich wild cherry notes layered with mint, cinnamon and eucalyptus. This is structured and elegant and will develop more complexity over time. Drink this after 2018." (09/2013)

2010 Casanova di Neri "Tenuta Nuova" Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Casanova di Neri "Tenuta Nuova" Brunello di Montalcino (100RP, 99JS, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is a protagonist of the vintage. The fruit is deep and dark with rich levels of extract, intensity and flavor. It goes far beyond your standard cherry and blackberry to include plum cake, spice bread and bacon-wrapped prune. Nothing is obvious or monochromatic about this wine. Everything is nuanced and ethereal. Tenuta Nuova is also distinguished by the linear mineral notes that are characteristic of this single-vineyard site. In 2010, those traits are especially well-defined and pronounced. The tannins reach a level of suppleness that is almost impossible to find in the sometimes prickly and acidic Sangiovese grape. If there is one thing Giacomo Neri has mastered, it is harvesting at optimal ripeness: He knows his property and his vines better than most and it shows. Collectors will want to put this wi

2009 Gaja Barbaresco
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2009 Gaja Barbaresco (93JS, 93RP, 93WE, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Barbaresco is absolutely remarkable for the way it caresses the palate with endless layers of sweet red fruit. Will the 2009 shut down in bottle? Truth is, I don’t know, but the wine is exceptionally beautiful and polished from the very first taste. Ripe, red berries, crushed flowers and deeply spiced notes are woven into an intricate fabric of indescribable class. I am not sure how Angelo Gaja and his team do it, but this is a super-impressive wine in every way. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. (AG)" (10/2012)

2004 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino (95RP, 93ST, 92WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is awesome. This finessed, regal Brunello flows onto the palate with seamless layers of perfumed fruit framed by silky, finessed tannins. The wine remains extremely primary at this stage, and its full range of aromas and flavors have yet to emerge, but the sheer pedigree of this Brunello is unmistakable. The elegant, refined finish lasts an eternity, and subtle notes of menthol, spices, licorice and leather add final notes of complexity. The estate's 2004 Brunello is a wine to buy and bury in the deepest corner of the cellar. Brunello is never inexpensive, but this is the real deal, and in relative terms, it is one of the world's great values in fine, cellar worthy wine. Incredibly, there are 18,000+ cases of the 2004 Brunello, so it should be fairly easy to source in various markets. The Brunello is made from four vineyards rangi

2001 Tua Rita "Giusto di Notri"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Tua Rita "Giusto di Notri" (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For the first time I preferred the Cabernet/Merlot blend to the all- Merlot wine, and there can be few doubts that the 2001 Giusto di Notri is a stunning wine. A blackish ruby/purple with a fabulous nose of textbook Cabernet aromas, black currants and blackberries, graphite, river gravel, and sweet herbs, its potent, dense, and packed palate displays flavors of perfect poise, grace and power intertwined and intermingled, shape and grip at the highest level from the initial explosive notes to the resonant, sweet finish.
