Franck Bonville Brut Rosé Champagne

Rated "Extraordinary" by the Underground Wine Journal, which writes: "This is a great rosé. Light pink in color it has an absolutely gorgeous perfume with raspberry and cherry fruit accented by floral citrus notes and a faint hint of spice. There is a creamy texture with a nice crispness underneath and the fruit is complex with raspberry, cherry, and citrus offset by a kiss of vanilla. Irresistible now this is really terrific." K&L's notes: This is the first time we have had the rosé from Bonville, an estate that grows only Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs. Oli... Read More »

2008 Launois Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

We began importing the Champagnes of Launois more than a decade ago, though we haven't been able to promote them properly because our allocations were very tight. Fortunately for us, Bernard Launois has decided to export more! Champagne Launois' wines are highly sought-after, so much so, in fact, that we've sold their Champagne to Champenois who can't get it at home! Bernard Launois does things differently than the rest of his neighbors, picking a week to 10 days later and using only massal-selected plants rather than the more common clones. All of the C... 2002 Salon Blanc de Blancs Champagne Top Pick!
2002 Salon Blanc de Blancs Champagne

100 points Wine Enthusiast: "The 35th and most recent vintage of Salon since the house was founded in 1905 is memorable and magnificent. Made only from Chardonnay grown in the Grand Cru village of Les Mesnil-sur-Oger, it combines intense minerality, a crisp textured core and the beginnings of maturity. The depths of this wine, with its layers of fruit and steeliness, are superb. Even after 12 years, it still needs to age further. Drink from 2018. Cellar Selections." (12/2014)99 points James Suckling: "A subtle, intense champagne that shows complex character of lilac, mineral, sliced lemon, apple and white pepp ...Read More »

Franck Bonville "Belles Voyes" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

91 points Wine Spectator: "Richly spiced, with ground anise, clove, ginger and cardamom, this offers a lively bead, fresh acidity and flavors of quince, honey, pastry dough and golden raisin. Offers a soft, creamy finish. Drink now through 2018." (12/2012)90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This has finesse and elegance, with a thin stream of bubbles and crisp, dry apple flavor. It is taut with a cool feel, still young in the bottle and worth aging a year." (12/2012) K&L Notes: This is one of the best Champagnes we carry, regardless of price. Made from the one-and-three-quarters-acre Belles Voyes vineyard in Oger, this is Bonvill... Read More »

Franck Bonville Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagne (375ml) Top Pick!
Franck Bonville Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagne (375ml)

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "From the heartland of Chardonnay in Champagne comes this rich, creamy, apple-flavored wine. It has lively acidity, balanced with some sweetness from the dosage. It has weight and a crisp aftertaste." (12/2012)90 points Wine Spectator: "Lightly creamy, with pretty violet and smoke notes winding through the biscuit and lemon meringue flavors. This is subtle, featuring well-integrated acidity and a supple structure overall. Easy to like." (2/2010) Jancis Robinson: "100% Chardonnay from Oger, Cramant and Avize. From a 50-ha estate. Olivier Bonville is the third generation to make wine here. Super-clean f ...Read More »

2008 Louis Roederer Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Blanc de Blancs offers a very subtle and substantial, multi-layered bouquet of wet chalk, hazelnuts, stewed apples, lemons, toast, jasmine. Full-bodied and vibrant, this is a highly elegant, very mineral, pure, fresh, firm, tense and persistent Champagne of great complexity. It is still very young but has a great aging potential. (SR)" (11/2014)94 points Wine & Spirits: "Chardonnay’s chamomile and meadow flower scents race out of this wine’s taut richness, its creaminess channeled along a chalk line of acidity. Clean and almost blunt in its youthful power, this wine has a ...Read More »

Boulard-Bauquaire "Trepail" Vieilles Vignes Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Top Pick!
Boulard-Bauquaire "Trepail" Vieilles Vignes Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

This Champagne comes from one plot of 70 year old Chardonnay vines in the Montagne of Reims village of Trepail. It is aged for three years on the lees and composed of half 2011 and half 2010. The Champagne has a chalky, creamy, bready nose and a concentrated impression on the palate. As one would expect from such ancient vines, it delivers the goods on the finish with plenty of chalk as well as a bit of honey and white fruit. This makes a perfect aperitif, but will also pair well with seafood such as seared scallops ore even raw oysters. -Gary Westby

Franck Bonville Brut Rosé Champagne (375ml)

This little bottle of rosé is delicious! This is the first time we have had the rosé from Bonville, an estate that grows only Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs. Olivier Bonville was able to trade with Ambonnay celebrity-producer Paul Dethune for the red wine that goes into this blend of 92% Chardonnay and 8% Pinot Noir. You might wonder what such a small dash of Pinot would do besides add color, and I was skeptical myself. The results are great--this wine has the freshness and drinkability of the Brut Selection, but with great black cherry Pinot character in the... Read More »

Collard-Picard "Dom Picard" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

The juice for this blend comes only from vineyards classed Grand Cru, notably from around Oger and Le Mesnil sur Oger, and is made entirely from the "coeurs de cuvee", or the best of the best. Vinification without malolactic fermentation and aging in oak casks adds to the complexity and depth. For the total Chardonnay fan!

2009 Larmandier-Bernier Terre de Vertus Blanc de Blancs Champagne

This all-Chardonnay, all-estate Champagne is super exciting, and any real Champagne fan should try it at least once! This brut zero does not come across as austerely dry, but is rather rich due the exceptional ripeness of the two plots in Vertus that this wine is sourced from and the broadness of the 2009 harvest. I can't wait to take one of these home for sushi and Champagne, as this special bottle gets the balance between precision and pleasure exactly right. Don't miss this one! Billecart-Salmon Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut Champagne

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale yellow. Intense, mineral-accented aromas of citrus fruits, pear, honeysuckle and iodine, with a toasty overtone gaining strength with aeration. Dry and sharply focused, offering vibrant lime and bitter pear skin flavors and a touch of honey. Puts on weight with air and finishes with excellent clarity, power and mineral-driven persistence." (12/2013)92 points Wine & Spirits: "A pure Côte des Blancs chardonnay, this includes 25 percent reserve wine in the blend. At first, everything about it is white, from chalk to oyster mushroom and grapefruit pith. That dry sensation yield ...Read More »

2002 Thiénot "La Vigne aux Gamins" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "A concentrated, dense wine, this is round and rich with fresh apple flavor, but also a hint of maturity—a touch of cookie and almonds on the finish. This is an impressive wine, full of flavor and great concentration." (12/2013)93 points Wine Spectator: "Hints of marzipan and gumdrop add richness to the flavors of patisserie apple, lemon curd, smoke and honeycomb in this firm, well-cut version. Offers a finely detailed bead and a lasting finish, with a hint of blanched almond. Drink now through 2025." Pol Roger "White Foil - Extra Cuvée de Réserve" Brut Champagne (1.5L)

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is, not surprisingly, actually quite similar to the Pure but with just a bit more complexity and a hair more toastiness. This is also intensely effervescent with a mouth feel that is exceptionally vibrant before culminating in clean, cool, persistent and impressively refreshing finish. This is a pleasure to drink and it could be enjoyed now or held for additional development though I like the energy if offers now. A fine value." (9/2012)90 points Antonio Galloni: "Pale yellow. 2004 Delamotte Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

94 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2004 Blanc de Blancs is vivid and captivating from the very first taste. White orchard fruit, smoke, slate and wild flowers are some of the many notes that come alive in a dazzling Champagne that captures the essence of this great Chardonnay vintage. Veins of underlying salinity and acidity support the vivid, textured finish. The 2004 Blanc de Blancs is a superb Champagne in its price range. Readers won't want to miss it." 2004 Pierre Moncuit "Cuvée Nicole Moncuit Vieilles Vignes" Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

94 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2004 Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuvee Nicole Moncuit VV is a little more structured and implosive than the Brut Blanc de Blancs Gran Cru. Still quite primary, the VV is going to need at least another year or two in bottle for the aromatics to fully develop, especially for readers who appreciate tertiary nuances. Today the 2004 VV is all about fruit and structure, both of which it has in spades. Dosage was 8 grams per liter." 2002 Moet & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (1.5L)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Dom Perignon is at first intensely floral, with perfumed jasmine that dominates the bouquet. With time in the glass the wine gains richness as the flavors turn decidedly riper and almost tropical. Ripe apricots, passion fruit and peaches emerge from this flashy, opulent Dom Perignon. The wine's volume makes it approachable today, but readers in search of more complexity will want to cellar this for at least a few years to allow for some of the baby fat to drop off. Geoffroy describes the vintage as very ripe and adds that some of the Chardonnay ...Read More »

1995 Taittinger "Comtes de Champagne" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1995 Taittinger "Comtes de Champagne" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (97ST, 96RP, 95WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale, green-tinged color. Incredible shiver-producing 99-point nose combines peach, lemon, iodine and steely, petrolly, slatey soil tones; I was reminded of Chevalier-Montrachet and great Mosel riesling. Full and creamy-smooth but extremely young. This brilliantly minerally wine seems to thicken and intensify after 10 or 15 seconds in the mouth, offering layer upon layer of soil tones. A superconcentrated Champagne that completely avoids the heaviness shown by some '95s." (12/2002)

Drink now through 2023." (11/2013)90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid yellow-gold.
