2012 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

96-100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An inky/purple color is accompanied by wonderful aromas of smoky black currant and blackberry fruit interwoven with incense, camphor, charcoal and new oak. The wine is deep, multidimensional, full-bodied, rich and opulent with a voluptuous texture. Even as a barrel sample, this stunning effort is irresistible. This deep, prodigious 2012 should be approachable when released and age effortlessly for 25-30 years. The 2012 Insignia (17,500 cases expected to be produced; 14.5% alcohol) is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot and the ...Read More »

2012 Cakebread Napa Valley Chardonnay (1.5L)

Jancis Robinson: "Expressive and ripe on the nose, with all the typical stuffing of Napa Chardonnay. Aromatically spiced oak giving clove and something a bit peppery. Plenty of alcoholic warmth. (RH)" (3/2015) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The attractive 2012 Chardonnay reminded me of Chardonnays from the 1970s and early 1980s. The wine was aged in French oak for eight months, but you would never know that from the aromatics and flavors. With delicate, crisp citrus, this fresh, lively, Chablis-like effort reveals a hint of minerality. 2013 Belle Glos "Las Alturas" Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir (1.5L)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Spares no expense, with lavish smoke and black licorice-scented oak framing a rich core of dark berry, anise, boysenberry and savory herb notes. Full-blown and expressive through a persistent, mouthcoating finish." (10/2014) K&L Notes: Winery notes: "Located in one of the highest-plantable sites in the southern portion of the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County known as the "Mission District." This pristine bench offers the vineyard cool, coastal days but it enjoys warmer afternoon temperatures and tamer winds than the northern portion of the appellation. The co... Read More »

From the winery: "Our 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a seamless wine that expresses bright, fresh fruit characters from an unusually cool California vintage. 2009 DuMol "Chloe" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chardonnay Chloe Ritchie Vineyard bursts onto the palate with superb intensity and richness. Ripe apricots, flowers, spices and butterscotch flow from this powerful, authoritative Chardonnay. The weight and richness of these old-vine parcels informs the dense, full-bodied finish. The Chloe is made from parcels in Ritchie, Searby and Lorenzo, with vineyards planted in the 1970s. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. 1984 Inglenook "Reserve Cask" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

90 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe and exotic, with lots of coffee, cedar and spice overtones to the gentle core of very ripe cherry and raspberry. A stylish wine with plenty of tannin to support it, but the dominant characteristics are fruit and suppleness." (7/1990) K&L Notes: This was made during the reign of Connecticut spirits company Heublein, which is not remembered by Inglenook faithfuls as the winery's better days. But as the 1990 Spectator review indicates, there were still some bright moments at the venerable estate.

2013 Ridge "Geyserville" Alexander Valley Zinfandel (1.5L)

92-94 points Antonio Galloni: "Ridge's 2013 Zinfandel Geyserville is deep, rich and explosive. A much darker wine than the 2012, the 2013 hits the palate with masses of dark red/black fruit followed by iron, smoke and savory herbs. The intensity of fruit nearly covers the tannins that lurk beneath. There is lot to look forward to in this highly promising, engaging Geyserville. The blend is 73% Zinfandel, 17% Carignane, 8% Petite Sirah, 1% Alicante Bouschet and 1% Mataro (Mourvèdre). 2005 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a huge, powerful wine that is starting to show the very earliest signs of development. An exotic melange of smoke, tar, camphor and licorice leads to expressive, fleshy fruit as the 2005 opens up in the glass. Hints of tobacco, leather, licorice and spices are layered into the finish. This is a gorgeous wine with lovely mid-palate presence and fleshiness. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2035. I tasted a large number of wines with Randy Dunn this year. 2011 Goldeneye Anderson Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L)

If it looks like a duck, that's because Goldeneye is indeed part of the Duckhorn Vineyards family of wineriesk, including Migration and Decoy. Goldeneye is the Napa Valley winery's far-north outpost, in cool Anderson Valley where their 15-year experience in making cool-climate Pinot Noir was put to the test in 2011. With low yields and careful vinting, they have succeeded. The winery's tasting note: "Quintessential Anderson Valley aromas of savory herbs, pinesap and wild berries soar from the glass. 2012 Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot (1.5L)

This Merlot-dominated blend reminds us why Duckhorn earned its reputation as one of California's preminent sources for Merlot. The 2012 vintage, with its long hang time, was perfect for making a rich, seamless, structured wine. Winemaker notes: "From its aromas of Santa Rosa plum, creme de cassis, violet and Herbes de Provence to its enticing flavors of olallieberry, sticky toffee and vanilla bean, this is a complex and compelling expression of Napa Valley Merlot."

Aged for 16 months in 30% new French oak, this is an elegant wine styled to be approachable young but has the structure to age gracefully in the cellar. 2012 DuMol Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L)

91 points Antonio Galloni: "A gorgeous entry-level wine, DuMOL's 2012 Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley) is laced with sweet red berries, rose petals, mint and cinnamon. The flavors are bright, focused and lifted throughout. The 2012 doesn't quite have the exuberance of most Russian River Pinots, and will therefore appeal to readers who appreciate a more restrained style of Russian River Pinot. Full-bodied with fabulous depth, richness, and texture as well as a multilayered mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and loads of potential, this stunning wine is capable of lasting 15-20 years. 2004 Pride Mountain Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated, bright medium ruby. Crushed cassis, licorice and minerals on the nose. Pure, primary black fruit and mineral flavors framed and enlivened by surprisingly juicy acidity. Very firmly built, vibrant wine with the structure to reward aging. Winemaker Bob Foley noted that Pride's cabernet had better than usual acidity in 2004, and certainly more than in 2003 or 2002; the harvest here lasted into early November. If the 2004 Reserve Claret is better than this, it will be a stunner." (6/2007)92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Soft, rich and ripe, this is one of those Cabernets that feel ...Read More »

2005 Pride Mountain Sonoma County Cabernet Franc (1.5L)

It is a medium-bodied, elegant Cabernet Franc with serious flavor intensity. It should drink well for 8-10 years. " (12/07) 89 points Wine Spectator: "Loamy, earthy flavors are dry and chewy, but the dense berry, spicy oak and toast flavors at the core are simply young and rambunctious now. Decant. This is Clone 4 and Clone 6, as well as Clone 337, blended together from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, aged in 100% new Darnajou barrels. For whatever reason, this wine seems to show more chocolate, espresso roast, barbecue smoke, dense blackberry and blueberry fruit and enormous body with not a touch of heaviness or astringency. 2006 Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

The tannins are soft and melted, and the flavors offer immediate rewards of blackberries, cherries, currants, cassis, anise and smoky oak. Will develop bottle nuances over the next eight years." 2004 Ridge Vineyards "Geyserville" Sonoma Zinfandel (1.5L)

94 points and two stars in the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines: "18% Carignane; 7% Petite Sirah. Of all the Zinfandels produced by this greatly respected winery, none has stood out more than Geyserville over the years. Perhaps it is the very high percentages of other grapes that are planted in the vineyard and have found their ways into the wine. The 2009 is 50% clone 6, 20% clone 337, 20% clone 4 from the C2 block and 10% clone 4 from the C1 block." 2001 David Arthur "Elevation 1147" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

96 points Wine Spectator: "Ultraripe Cabernet, with thick, concentrated blackberry, wild berry and currant, with a touch of kirsch; a remarkably rich and expressive young wine capturing deliciously ripe fruit and supported by firm, fine-grain tannins that bode well for cellaring. Best from 2005 through 2015." (4/2004)

2005 Gemstone "Facets" Yountville Proprietary Red (1.5L)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Facets is elegant, austere by the standards of California, and almost a dead-ringer for a Medoc from Bordeaux. The wine is dark ruby/purple-tinged with a floral, restrained nose of sweet cherries and soil and undertones of underbrush and barrique. The wine is medium-bodied, pretty, pure, and represents an attractive, French-styled blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. It should drink nicely for 10-12 years." (12/2007)

2007 Futo Oakville Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "These proprietary reds are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2007 is the finest wine yet produced at Futo. A blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, a whopping 33% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot, it boasts a dense purple color as well as a gorgeously sweet bouquet of blue and black fruits, spring flowers, and crushed rocks, full-bodied power allied to compelling elegance, and a layered, multidimensional personality. There is plenty of depth in this beauty, and it is no doubt capable of putting on lots of weight and complexity given the Cabernet Fran ...Read More »

2009 Staglin Family Vineyard "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

95 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is bursting with primal energy. Sweet floral notes meld into juicy red berries, spice box and cedar, all of which are laced together with remarkable elegance. Silky tannins add to an impression of refinement and total finesse. In 2009, Staglin’s Cabernet Sauvignon impresses for its superb delineation and nuance. The 2009 can be enjoyed with minimum cellaring if given a few hours in decanter. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. (AG)" (12/2012)95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dense blue/purple-colored 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate possesses a complex bouquet o ...Read More »
