2014 Labégorce, Margaux (Pre-Arrival)

91-94 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2014 Labégorce is round, supple and nicely layered. Smoke, plums, black cherries and French oak meld together in a ripe, racy Margaux built on textured fruit. Sweet floral notes add lift on the layered, sensual finish. This voluptuous Margaux should drink well pretty much upon release. There is a lot to like, that much is clear. The blend is 58% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot. Michel Rolland is the Consultant for Labégorce, which is owned by the Perrodo family. Lovely chocolate, toasted oak and coffee too. Gorgeous balance. Best in 2016." (4/2012)93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A wine that continues the impressive rise of du Tertre. It is becoming one of the sure values of Margaux, and this 2009 is both ripe and finely balanced. The acidity boosts the rich fruits, sweet tannins and the warm finish." 2012 d'Issan, Margaux (Pre-Arrival)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Château d’Issan, builds on the richness of the second wine and adds more body, structure and density. It has an inky purple color and a stunning nose of spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry fruit as well as touches of incense and graphite. Medium to full-bodied and stunningly concentrated, this 2012 is a great success in the vintage, one of the superstars. Moreover, its precociousness suggests it could be drunk in the next 4-5 years or cellared through 2025. I underrated this wine dramatically in my report of April, 2013 (Issue 206). ...Read More »

Orange zest acidity carries this through the juicy finish. Drink now through 2020." (3/2012) Jancis Robinson: "40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 55% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. A bit of Marmite yeast extract and a hint of moss on the nose. Very solid and firm with marked dry tannins after impressively ripe but not sweet fruit. More solid than a stereotypical Margaux but a very creditable wine." (10/2011) James Suckling: "Aromas and flavors of currants, coffee and chocolate fo ...Read More »

2014 Rauzan-Ségla, Margaux (Pre-Arrival)

92-95 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2014 Rauzan-Ségla is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine. Super-polished and silky throughout, the 2014 is all about nuance. Red cherry, red currant and mint open up in a translucent, beautifully delineated wine. Ferrous and savory notes follow as the wine blossoms in the glass, revealing its depth and resonance. All the elements fall into place in a gracious wine that is at once classically austere, yet also supple and highly expressive, with virtually no sensation of tannin and terrific overall balance. The wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, aged 12 months in 25% new oak barrels. Densely packed and fine-grained, with lovely inner-mouth floral lift to its crushed berry flavors. A very rich and sweet style of Margaux, but the broad, dusty, building tannins call for some cellaring. Boasts excellent length for a wine from this chateau." (7/2012)93 points Decanter: "Sumptuous cassis and blackberry nose, with a good deal of new oak. Sleek, elegant, poised, with great intensity and purity of fruit. However, this impressive wine’s real potential is the undertow of ripe fruit. It needs cellaring for many years to fully harmonize." (4/2015) 92-93 points James Suckling: "Very pretty cabernet sauvignon character. Full body, fine tannins and a bright finish. Ultra-fine tannins. Tight and caressing. Refined. This wine should age nicely, yet have a degree of accessibility young. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2018." (2/1998) Jancis Robinson: "Owned by the Gasquetons until 1997. Looks quite evolved. There is real definition and focus here, more precision than recent vintages have shown. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin. A complex bouquet of earth, blue and black fruits, licorice, incense, and spice box is followed by a round, silky, voluptuous wine that falls just short of achieving the depth and richness found in such recent vintages as 2000, 2005, 2006, and 2008. A very strong, fully mature effort, its balance, purity, depth, and texture suggest it will provide plenty of pleasure over the next 10-12 years. (RP)" (6/2009)92 points Wine Spectator: "A beauty. Seductive, with ...Read More »

1999 Palmer, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Palmer, Margaux (95RP, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 is the greatest Palmer made since 1961, 1966, 1970, 1983, and 1989. It is one of the superstars of the vintage. The wine is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot. It boasts a staggering bouquet of violets and other spring flowers intermixed with licorice, black currants, and subtle wood. Only 50% of the production made it into the grand vin. This is a multidimensional, compelling effort with both power and elegance, it offers sweet tannin along with flavors that caress the palate, and a 45-second finish. This is terrific stuff! Anticipated maturity: 2004-2025. (RP)" (04/2002)

1995 d'Angludet, Margaux

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1995 is a silky, supple, charming, forthcoming wine that is well above its cru bourgeois classification. The color is a healthy saturated deep ruby/purple, and the wine offers up gobs of jammy black fruits intermixed with subtle herbs, spice, and toast. In the mouth, the wine displays excellent richness, a layered, medium-bodied personality, well-disguised tannin and acidity, and a hedonistic mouthfeel. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. A sleeper of the vintage." (2/1998) Wine Spectator: "Refined, pretty '95. Currants, blackberries and green tobacco aromas. Medium-bodied ...Read More »

1989 d'Angludet, Margaux

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 d'Angludet is one of this property's best wines since their excellent 1983. It does not, however, appear to have the stuffing necessary to surpass that wine. It is fat, plump, intensely fruity with a good ruby color, supple texture, high alcohol, and soft tannins." (2/1993) Wine Spectator: "Ready to drink. Medium-ruby color and enticing aromas of blackberries and tobacco. Medium-bodied, with milk chocolate and coffee flavors and soft texture." (5/1999)

2012 Pavillon Rouge, Margaux

91 points James Suckling: "A gorgeous red now with chocolate, berry and light mineral character. Full body, round and velvety tannins. So drinkable now and yummy." (2/2015)91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a crisp, red-fruited wine with acidity and fresh tannins. It’s lost the austerity it showed at barrel tasting and has become surprisingly fresh, only showing its depths and concentration as it unfolds. The texture is smooth, soft with its firmer tannins very much in the background. It’s likely to develop quickly." (5/2015)90 points Wine Spectator: "Very stylish, with a caressing feel to the steeped plum, blackberry and raspberry fru ...Read More »

2000 Pavillon Rouge, Margaux

94 points Wine Spectator: "Glorious aromas of freshly picked raspberries, with tiny hints of cream and minerals. Full-bodied, with superfine tannins and a long, long finish of berries and cherries. Super second wine from Margaux. Best Pavillon Rouge I have ever tasted. Best after 2010." (3/2003) 89-92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium ruby. Perfumed, subtle aromas of dark berries, spices, cedar and lead pencil; unusually sophisticated for a second wine. Supple, dense and suave, with lovely layered texture and restrained sweetness. Very densely packed and serious for Pavillon Rouge, but with no loss of finesse. Fini ...Read More »

2000 Palmer, Margaux

97 points Wine Spectator: "This takes time to unwind, but then it explodes with fruit and powerful, yet silky tannins. Perfumed and rich, with berry, cherry and tobacco character. Full-bodied, with super-well-integrated tannins and a reduced, refined palate structure. It's compacted and powerful. Very racy wine." (3/2003)95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the sexiest wines for drinking now and over the next 10-15 years is undoubtedly the 2000 Palmer. A blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, the wine has an almost exotic floral nose, soft, undulating tannins, and tremendous opulence and flesh, wi ...Read More »

2010 Rauzan-Ségla, Margaux (Pre-Arrival)

98 points James Suckling: "Beautiful clarity of fruit with raspberries and currants on the nose. Roses and other flowers too. It's almost hard to describe, but there's a real purity. Full body, with fabulous balance and depth. It has everything in the right place. Best ever? Try it in 2018." (2/2013)96 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of the top Margaux wines, this is in top form, finely balanced and as elegant as it is powerful. It is darkly structured, dense yet balancing tannins with ripe black plums. It expresses the complexity of the vintage. A wine for serious, long-term aging." (2/2013)95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "To reiterate, the 201 ...Read More »

2004 Margaux, Margaux

96 points Wine & Spirits: "Tasted from barrel in 2005, this wine showed the freshness of the vintage in its bright woodland-berry scent before settling into tannins that felt mineral, powerful and black. Directeur général Paul Pontallier commented at the time, "I consider this to be typical, absolutely, of Château Margaux." Two years on, the wine is definitively Margaux, from the fashionable scent of new oak, to the musculature and vinous strength of the fruit. The sweetness of the fraises des bois and plum seems improbable in the context of a completely dry, concentrated yet ethe ...Read More »
