Of the 2010 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Dark ruby. Exotic, intensely perfumed black raspberry and cherry aromas are complemented by cola, star anise and licorice. Juicy, impressively precise dark fruit flavors are lifted by tangy acidity and a slow-building blood orange quality. At once supple and lithe, finishing with outstanding energy and an array of dark berry and floral nuances." (05/2012)

2004 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru ((89-91BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A very attractive and notably complex nose of floral, spice and black pinot fruit and violet aromas complements intense, linear and balanced medium full flavors that offer good punch, moderate power and fine length. I like the style and harmony of expression but this phenolic maturity is barely sufficient." (01/2006)

2008 Lucien le Moine Corton-Renardes Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Lucien le Moine Corton-Renardes Grand Cru ((90-93BH), (92-93RP), (91-93ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The twin barrels of Le Moine 2008 Corton Renardes are even more tender in texture than their Bressandes sibling, as well as sweeter in their still-tart fruit (here strawberry, cherry, and rhubarb). Brown spices, browned butter, and hints of caramel make for an appealing cookie dough-like aspect on this wine’s subtly creamy and palpably dense yet buoyant palate. Nor are herbal or floral nuances entirely neglected in the complex performance. A smoky, Latakia-like note graces this wine’s long finish. I suspect 12-15 years will prove a sufficiently conservative estimate of its potential. (DS)" (06/2010)

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Domaine Dugat-Py Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes ((94-95RP), (91-94ST), (91-93BH), 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Produced from 55 to 60-year-old vines, the dark-colored 1999 Mazis-Chambertin is profound. Its licorice, black cherry syrup, and chocolate chip cookie dough-scented nose leads to a hugely powerful, medium to full-bodied character. This road tar, blackberry, cassis liqueur, and spice-flavored wine has the density, structure, and balance for moderate to long-term aging. Projected maturity: 2006-2015+. (PR)" (08/2001)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "his is also quite restrained, indeed almost shy with a muted nose of dark berry fruit and earth that gives way to extremely fresh, supple and surprisingly forward flavors that almost instantly tighten up into a backwards and very firm and austere finish. This is a classically styled and proportioned Bonnes Mares that will require at least 15 years of cellar time." (01/2011)

Bid on this bottle of 1957 Maison Leroy Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Cazetiers" (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(With thanks to Dr. Reed Day). Bricked through though a core of ruby remains. As one would expect the nose is dominated by sous bois and earth aromas that possess the classic Cazetiers animale component that carries over to the delicious and impressively complex flavors that evidence both the minerality and robust muscle that would reasonably be expected, all wrapped in a long, sappy and ever-so-mildly austere finish that is characteristic of the '57 vintage. Sexy aromas of truffle, vanilla, nut oil and charry oak. Superrich and sweet yet taut, with notes of stone fruits, nut oil and spices. This charming, rather fat wine shows an almost Meursault-like texture today. Boillot says this will be less exotic after a sulfur treatment. " (09/2007)

Of the 2012 Rivers-Marie "Occidental Ridge Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Antonio Galloni writes: "The 2012 Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard is arguably the most dense and compact of these Pinots. Here, it is the wine's structure that stands out most. Whereas most of the 2012 Rivers-Marie Pinots are drinking well right now, the Occidental Ridge is a wine that needs to be cellared for at least another year or two. Firm tannins support a salivating finish laced with dark red and blue tones fruit, crushed rocks and chalk. A dollop of whole clusters (10%) adds nuance. Readers who can find the Occidental Ridge should not hesitate, it is fabulous. (AG

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Echezeaux Grand Cru (95BH, 95RP, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Echezeaux is pure silk. Black cherries, spices, licorice and tar are all woven together in a fabric of nearly indescribable elegance. All the elements fall into place as the Echezeaux captivates both the intellectual and hedonistic senses. This is a wine that impresses for its understated elegance. Readers won't find the drive of the Clos de Vougeot or the structure of the Richebourg. Instead, the Echezeaux possesses stunning textural finesse and phenomenal balance. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. Etienne Grivot's 2009s were some of the most exciting wines I tasted on my most recent trip to Burgundy. (AG)" (04/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Dujac Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru ((90-93BH), (92-93RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Charred meats and dark berries mingle on the nose and firmly- yet finely tannic palate of Dujac’s 2008 Charmes-Chambertin (which I last tasted very shortly before it was bottled). Blackberry, dark cherry, black pepper, and strongly cyanic cherry pit notes add to the unusually low-toned, almost brooding and unshakably persistent carnal intensity of a Charmes that could at most be faulted only for not literally living up to its name, but one that promises a decade or more of fascination and ought probably to stay in the cellar for the next 4-6 years. Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Don't Miss!* A superbly elegant and incredibly pure nose that is so fine that it's not even necessary to drink the wine to enjoy it as it's kaleidoscopically broad and deep with a brilliant range of spice elements adding subtlety and fascination to the red fruit and violet aromas that are the perfect complement to rich, full and generous medium-bodied flavors that are a study in class and grace, all wrapped in a finish of impressive persistence. 2007 Dugat-Py Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Dugat-Py Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru ((91-94ST)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby-red color. Black fruits, game and licorice on the nose, with a whiff of violet. Fatter, suppler and sweeter than the foregoing premier crus, in a more gentle, charming style. This seems a bit more evolved than the Lavaux and perhaps suited for drinking before that wine. But this is still a sizable wine with plenty of ripe tannins. Dugat considers Charmes to be a relatively delicate cru and thus vinifies mostly destemmed fruit." (03/2009)

2004 Louis Jadot Le Musigny Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Louis Jadot Le Musigny Grand Cru ((92-95BH), (91-94ST)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " As good as the Bonnes Mares is, it's immediately clear that there's another dimension present as this is at once more elegant, more complex and classier as well. An explosive nose of black pinot fruit and penetrating spice notes lead to notably rich and ripe flavors that exude ample mid-palate extract and while the tannins are quite firm, they are also quite fine. This should prove to be one of the vintage's longer lived examples and it could surprise to the upside as the underlying material is outstanding. The texture is also noticeably different than most of the other wines of the range as Lardière indicated that there was some whole cluster vinification here." (04/2006)

Vibrant, intensely spicy aromas of blackberry, violet, white pepper and roast coffee. Supersweet flavors are like a coulis of berries. Its subtle oak is wholly obeisant to fruit, and it is both rich and very lively. Connoisseurs Guide: " *Three Stars* Not only the best of a very fine lot from Williams Selyem, but our pick as one of the best Pinot Noirs of recent memory, this wonderfully deep, broadly fruited wine sets the bar of achievement at a dizzying height. Winning very high marks for both its fruity precision and carefully crafting, it is on the one hand enveloping and easy to access and, on the other, a layered and very sophisticated opus. We can only guess that it will become even better over time because it is a show-stopping glassful right now, and its very keen balance absolutely insures that it has much life ahead of it." Of the 2012 Rivers-Marie "Silver Eagle Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Antonio Galloni writes: "Deep and powerful, the 2012 Pinot Noir Silver Eagle Vineyard is especially brooding in this vintage. Black cherries, tar, smoke and licorice all burst from the glass in an explosive, full-bodied Pinot. This is one of the more reticent wines in the range, with a burly personality that is going to take some time to fully come together. Initially quite dark, the 2012 brightens up considerably with time in the glass, suggesting a future with plenty of potential. Hints of cranberry, pomegranate and orange peel leave a lasting impression on the finish. The 2012 was

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Peter Michael "Ma Danseuse" Fort Ross-Seaview Pinot Noir (100RP, 98JS, 93ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The compelling 2012 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse (1,480 cases) is even better than the 2013. Notes of lead pencil shavings, DRC-like forest floor, black raspberry, blackcurrant, Asian plum sauce, rose petal and sweet cherry characteristics are found in this spectacular, multidimensional, prodigious Pinot Noir that should drink well for 10-15+ years. The clonal material probably came from one of the DRC vineyards, so it is not surprising that. in this cool climate, with the great fruit purity California can achieve, there is a DRC-like resemblance." Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Joseph Drouhin Musigny Grand Cru (95RP, 95WE, 91ST, 90BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Musky floral notes suggesting narcissus, magnolia, and perhaps some sort of exotic orchid mingle in the nose of Drouhin's 2006 Musigny with quinine, birch beer, and kirsch. The palate boasts remarkable richness and sheer viscosity for the vintage – though little superficial sweetness – along with textural refinement that goes beyond even the best of the rest of this year's Drouhin collection. Fruit pit bitterness; brown spices; roasting pan reduction of meat and fat; and an almost palpable sense of chalky and ore-like minerality add to the mystery and invigoration of a vibratory finish. This tastes awfully delicious today, though it should probably be given a few years in bottle. It ought to perform marvelously for at least a decade. (DS)" (12/2009)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Dugat-Py 2006 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux displays more finesse and refinement of texture as well as a similar, seemingly gravity-defying combination of density with lift and buoyancy to the corresponding Petite Chapelle, although there is less sheer flavor concentration and drama on display. Black tea and blackberry are decadently laced with peony floral notes in the nose, and the tea and berries are underlain by peat, wet stone, and iron filings. It lingers palate-saturatingly, stimulatingly, and a bit mysteriously. Expect more excitement over the next several years and an at least dozen year potential. (DS)" (12/2009)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Claude Dugat Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru ((91-94BH), 92RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is very pinot with an ultra fresh and layered nose that possesses plenty of Gevrey character, especially pungent earth and a hint of animale, which continues onto the bigger and richer but not necessarily more precise or focused big-bodied flavors that are powerful and possess excellent volume, all wrapped in a hugely complex finish. Patience required." (01/2010)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Jacques Prieur Musigny Grand Cru (OWC - 94BH, 92ST, 90RP) in original wood. Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Don't Miss!* An ultra elegant nose of pure violet, earth, stone and red Pinot fruit that will probably quickly transform into a floral-dominated aromatic profile merges seamlessly into balanced, precise and minerally big-bodied flavors that possess a satin and silk mouth feel and a linear, intense and mouth coating finish that seemingly goes on for minutes. This is a strikingly pretty wine that should age for years." (04/2009)

2006 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux Grand Cru
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux Grand Cru ((93-94RP), (90-93ST), 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sweet, spicy profusion of cinnamon, ginger, cocoa powder, lily perfume, maraschino, and kirsch soars from the glass of Rouget 2006 Echezeaux, which comes to the palate with unexpected depth and richness of roasted meats, chalk, and saline savor, though to be sure, the bright red fruits and spices never flag. This is positively vibratory as well as riveting in its dynamic, oscillating finishing complexity. I'd give it 3-4 years head start and then plan to follow it for another decade. (DS)" (12/2009)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2013 Rivers-Marie "Occidental Ridge Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (95AG). Antonio Galloni: "The 2013 Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard is one of the more delicate and refined wine in the range. Bright red stone fruits, mint and sweet spices all lift from the glass. Silky, sweet and exceptionally polished throughout, the Occidental Ridge hits all the right spots today. The 2013s here are at times a bit on the heavier side, but not the Occidental Ridge; which speaks to total elegance above all else. (Antonio Galloni)" (01/2015)

This isn’t a heavy weight and excels on its aromatics and balance more than power or richness. Enjoy it over the coming 4-6 years. Drink now-2019. (JD)" (08/2013)

2012 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2012 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (95ST, 94AG, 94RP, 91BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Explosively perfumed cherry-cola, dark berry liqueur, incense and mineral aromas show superb clarity and depth, with a sexy floral quality building with air. Offers palate-staining black raspberry and spicecake flavors that become sweeter and deeper with air. This rich but strikingly lithe and tensile pinot deftly plays power and depth off of vivacity and finishes sweet, youthfully tannic and extremely long. One of the most impressive Pinots I've tasted from the New World, or Burgundy for that matter, in quite a while." (05/2014)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Outstanding* A background touch of wood frames the very ripe though still elegant upper register red Pinot fruit aromas that give way to full, sweet and somewhat bigger and more robust medium plus weight flavors that offer good depth if less overall finesse. There is more muscle and punch here and this is very Gevrey in character and style. Very solid quality and also recommended." (01/2007)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Drouhin-Laroze Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru ((91-94BH), 90WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "* Don't Miss! * As one would expect, this is considerably more refined if not necessarily more complex with a layered and wonderfully nuanced nose of clove, anise and crushed pepper adding interest to the mostly red berry fruits that display bass notes of earth, game and underbrush. The big-boned flavors are mouth coating and dusty but avoid any sense of underlying dryness on the classy, serious and hugely long finish. A beast but a well-mannered one." (01/2008)

2005 Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur Richebourg Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur Richebourg Grand Cru (95ST, 94BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "8 barrels made, vs. a normal 11 or 12) Full red-ruby, not quite as dark as the other grand crus at this address. Reticent but wild nose hints at black raspberry, minerals and game. At once powerful and suave, with terrific inner-palate tension and sneaky intensity of dark fruit and violet flavor. Finishes impressively long, with thoroughly buffered, fine-grained tannins. Gros prefers wines that combine power and roundness, and he ventured the opinion that only grand crus can give the sweetness with strength that he prizes." (03/2007)

Captivating aromas of dark raspberry, licorice, underbrush and truffle. Supple, silky and sweet, with uncanny depth for a wine from this vintage. Highly concentrated flavors of cherry, spice and black licorice; really fat with sweet fruit, and distinctly fruitier today than the Griottes. Broad and full but with zero heaviness. Very long finishing flavors of spice and licorice. An incredible performance in the context of the year. And structured to last. " (03/2007)

Of the 2003 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "I was somewhat surprised to see that the 2003 Estate Pinot Noir merited the same score that it has received every time I have tasted it. Although I have never been able to award it a perfect score, it is as close to perfect as one will find. A terrific success in a vintage that rarely produced Pinot Noir of this quality except at selected micro-climates on the Sonoma coast. Of the 2012 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2012 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a beautiful wine that comes from four vineyards, Gap’s Crown, Griffin’s Lair, Terra de Promissio and Walala. It has a deep ruby/semi-opaque color that is followed by a youthful, rich and concentrated wine offering classic dark cherries, plum, licorice, ground herbs and baking-spice-driven aromas and flavors. Bid on this bottle of 2011 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru ((92-94BH), 92RP, (90-92ST)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is very reduced though there is good freshness and verve to the notably rich and generous medium-bodied flavors that display enough minerality to add lift to the taut and muscular finish that packs plenty of punch but not rusticity. This is markedly austere and exceptionally serious and I would also describe this as very old school. I would advise buying this only with the intention of cellaring it for the long-term." Aromas of plum, mocha, sassafras and earth, with aeration bringing higher-pitched notes of cherry and raspberry. Classic Sonoma Coast flavors of cranberry, pomegranate, sassafras and forest floor are given added punch by a hint of blood orange. The mouthwatering finish shows noteworthy thrust and persistence. This is almost always a classy effort but in 2009 it is also beautifully stylish..." 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay Clos des Ducs is a wonderful foil to the Champans. Here the wine is quite a bit more introspective, with a flavor profile that moves towards the darker end of the spectrum. Hints of menthol, spices and licorice add complexity on the long, intensely building finish. The Clos des Ducs is a marvelously complete wine, but it will require patience. Tasted from tank. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Kosta Browne "Amber Ridge" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (97CG, 94WS, 90ST). Connoisseurs Guide: "***Three Stars*** This collection of new Pinot Noirs raises the bar for the variety. It rates with the best showing from the best Pinot makers in California, and this outstanding wine comes out at the head of an altogether remarkable class. It is at once deep and profoundly fruity with a lavish display of optimally ripe cherries and perfectly fit oak, and, although high in extract and muscle, it is uncannily well-balanced and never less than brilliantly controlled. For all of its show-stopping richness, it is still far from its best, and only the sure promise of better with time keeps us from savoring it now." (07/2009)
