2011-2012 DuMol Russian River Valley Chardonnay Vertical
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011-2012 DuMol Russian River Valley Chardonnay Vertical, including 1-bottle of 2011 DuMol Russian River Valley Chardonnay (92CG, 92RP) and 1-bottle of 2012 DuMol Russian River Valley Chardonnay (90WS). Of the 2011 DuMol Russian River Valley Chardonnay,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2011 Chardonnay Russian River is a blend from some of the finest Sonoma vineyards, including Ritchie, Lorenzo, Hyde, DuMol and Heintz. Largely made from the Old Wente clone of Chardonnay blended with some of the Mt. Eden clone, it was barrel-fermented and aged 14 months on its lees with no lees stirring and only about 30% new French oak used. A light green/straw color is followed by terrific aromas of white peaches, pineapples, brioche, and a hint of creme brulee. Full-bodied with beautiful purity and texture, it is the equal of any Chardonnay selling for twice the price. It should drink well for 5+ years. Since its founding in 1996, DuMol has been one of the supersta

1998 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP). 93 points Robert Parker: "A joint effort of Mark Herold, a former research oenologist at Joseph Phelps, and Erika Gottl, has produced 230 cases of their first wine, the 1998 Merus. The wine is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine was made from fruit picked extremely ripe, aged largely in French new oak. It was slightly fined but not filtered. The 1998 (14.9% alcohol) is indeed an impressive wine from a much-maligned vintage. The color is intense ruby/purple. The nose offers up notes of creme de cassis and sweet black cherries, intermixed with nicely-infused toasty oak, mineral, and floral notes. The acidity seems low in this full-bodied, expressive, rich, multi-layered wine with a terrific texture and exceptional purity. This is a superb 1998, and certainly one of the finest wines of the vintage. It is also one heck of a debut wine from this small operation ... a California ga

2004 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, all from their old vineyards in Calistoga. This is a dense, ruby/purple-tinged wine with full body, and despite the softness of the general vintage, Montelena has plenty of structure. Like nearly every vintage of their top Cabernet Sauvignon, it will last for 25 or more years. The wine has sweet tannin in a broad, flavorful, concentrated style with plenty of black currant, licorice, and spice. The wine is beautifully textured, slightly more forward than most Montelena Cabernets tend to be. It is another beauty from probably the most consistent winery for Cabernet Sauvignon over the last three decades. (94+)" (12/2007)

2011 Rivers-Marie "B. Thieriot" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Rivers-Marie "B. Thieriot" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Chardonnay B. Thieriot Vineyard is gorgeous in this vintage. Lemon, almonds, savory herbs andnectarine all burst from the glass. Rich, layered and strikingly beautiful, the 2011 stands out for its pure balance. A touch of botrytis-inflected sweetness adds an exotic flair on the close. This is a highly representative example of Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. The Rivers Marie Chardonnay is unfined and unfiltered, so the color can sometimes be a little cloudy relative to more commercial wines, but that is in no way a negative, just a characteristic of the wine. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.(Antonio Galloni)" (04/2013)

Bid on this bottle of 1978 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barbaresco Riserva. Antonio Galloni: "A bottle of the 1978 Borgogno Barolo (library release) was a late substitute for a corked bottle from Brovia. To be honest, I am not especially fond of these re-releases from Borgogno as they typically deliver very little vintage quality, but this was a perfectly decent bottle that was among the finest examples I have had. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Beaucastel" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (94RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Opening up considerably since I tasted it from barrel, the 2010 Esprit de Beaucastel is a superb blend of 45% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache, 21% Syrah and 4% Counoise that was aged all in foudre. It delivers loads of ripe blackberry, plum, licorice, roasted herbs and hints of flowers to go with a medium to full-bodied, rich and mouth-filling profile on the palate. Textured, layered and rich, with a firm underlying core of tannin, this superbly balanced beauty should be given 2-3 years of bottle age and then consumed over the following decade. Drink 2015-2025. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93CG, 93ST, 93WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The phenomenal 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour is the greatest BV Private Reserve made since the 1970 and 1968. The good news is 11,000 cases were produced. The return of this superb Napa classic is fabulous news, and the brilliance of this wine is evidenced by its opaque purple color and its big, sweet, blackberry, cassis, subtle smoke, graphite, and spicy oak-scented nose. Dense and full-bodied with sweet but substantial tannins, thrilling levels of concentration, texture, and richness, and a heady finish, this wine will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age, and last three decades or more. It’s time to once again fill your cellars with the BV Private Reserve, one of the historic names in California wine folklore." (10/2009)

It is a powerful and full-bodied wine with well-integrated tannin. Given Montrose's tendency to shut down, it is performing better out of bottle than I expected. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2030. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Plumpjack "Estate" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 92WE, 92WS, 91JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cuvee from Plumpjack’s Oakville ranch, where Nils Venge once made the famed Cabernet Sauvignons under the Villa Mt. Eden label. (The 1974s and 1978s are still going strong.) Floral notes intermixed with creme de cassis, white chocolate, plum, and licorice characteristics are followed by a wine with supple tannins, fabulous concentration, a multilayered mouthfeel, and a finish that lasts 40+ seconds. Connoisseurs Guide: "**Two Stars** If at first a bit lighter and hinting of fresh raspberries, cherries and candied violets in the nose, this lovely Pinot proves to be surprisingly juicy and energetically fruity in flavor with lots of depth and a real sense of grace. Its subtle oak is wholly obeisant to fruit, and it is both rich and very lively. This site produces some of the most opulent and decadent of the Peter Michael Chardonnays. 2005 La Dauphine, Fronsac
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 La Dauphine, Fronsac (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It’s amazing how good this wine has become since the property was sold by the Jean-Pierre Moueix firm to Jean Halley. The outstanding, sexy, full-bodied 2005 is a 5,000-case blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. With beautiful purity, symmetry, and power as well as elegance, it is a fresh, full, soft Fronsac with sensational concentration and depth. It can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15 years." Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Rivers-Marie Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (91ST, 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(13.8% alcohol; from the northeast corner of Occidental, which Thomas Brown described as his warmest site in vintage 2011): Good medium red. Aromas of plum, mocha, sassafras and earth, with aeration bringing higher-pitched notes of cherry and raspberry. Classic Sonoma Coast flavors of cranberry, pomegranate, sassafras and forest floor are given added punch by a hint of blood orange. The mouthwatering finish shows noteworthy thrust and persistence. 2004 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (93ST, 92WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated, bright medium ruby. Crushed cassis, licorice and minerals on the nose. Pure, primary black fruit and mineral flavors framed and enlivened by surprisingly juicy acidity. Very firmly built, vibrant wine with the structure to reward aging. Winemaker Bob Foley noted that Pride's Cabernet had better than usual acidity in 2004, and certainly more than in 2003 or 2002; the harvest here lasted into early November." (06/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Merlot (94WE, 93RP, 92WS, 90ST). Wine Enthusiast: "Though 2009 was a difficult vintage for Washington Merlot, this is a truly luscious wine. It welcomes the taster instantly with massive, generous fruit cloaked in toasty, chewy, mocha and caramel flavors. Tasted over the course of 48 hours, it held up well, developing broad, well-integrated flavors of berries to complement the hedonistic oak. Sure to be a favorite among all the current releases from Leonetti." (09/2011)

2008 Nickel & Nickel "Branding Iron" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Nickel & Nickel "Branding Iron" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP, 92WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Branding Iron Vineyard is one of the more brooding wines in this lineup. Iron, dark cherries, tobacco and incense are some of the nuances that emerge from this taut, structured Cabernet Sauvignon. It shows terrific length and follow-through to the virile, potent finish. This is a decidedly focused, structured wine that needs time for the tannins to start melting away. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028. (AG)" (12/2011)

2011 Suduiraut, Sauternes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Suduiraut, Sauternes ((94-97ST), (95-97WE), 96JS, 96WS, (93-95RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(93% semillion and 7% sauvignon; 3.7 pH; 6 g/l total acidity; 150 g/l residual sugar; 13.5% alcohol): Bright golden yellow. Intense, deep aromas of ripe citrus, kiwi and guava are complicated by marmaladey smoky botrytis and a touch of honeyed mango, decadent notes that are rare in 2011 Sauternes. Very rich in the mouth, displaying extremely pure tropical fruit and acacia honey flavors that are given clarity and cut by harmonious acidith. Finishes very long and pure, with uncanny freshness that keeps this opulent wine light on its feet. This is far richer than most other 2011 Sauternes yet retains the vintage's freshness and crispness. Just three tries were carried out this year and the first one was done essentially to remove dirty, unhealthy-looking grapes. This is the best young Suduiraut of the last 15 years." (08/2012)

2004 Bodegas El Nido "Clio" Jumilla
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Bodegas El Nido "Clio" Jumilla (97RP, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The consulting winemaker at Bodegas El Nido is Chris Ringland of Barossa Valley fame. The 2004 Clio is 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 70% Monastrell (from 63-year-old vines) which received malolactic fermentation in new oak followed by 26 months of aging in new French and American barriques. A glass-coating opaque purple, it exhibits a sensational nose of earth, mushroom, leather, blueberry, and blackberry jam. On the palate the wine is supple-textured, complex, with vibrant flavors of spicy blue and black fruits and a big-time WOW factor. This is a totally hedonistic effort with exceptional length and balance. It is remarkably light on its feet for such a powerful wine. (JM)" (02/2007)

1997 Fox Creek "J.S.M." Shiraz/Cabernets
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1997 Fox Creek "J.S.M." Shiraz/Cabernets (95RP). 95 points Robert Parker: "The profound 1997 Shiraz/Cabernets JSM, made from 61% Shiraz, 24% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon (14.5% alcohol and 2,500 cases produced), is a massive, complex yet elegant, and incredibly harmonious wine. The color is a saturated black/purple. This full-bodied wine is bursting with richness and the complex, savory elements that will make wine lovers go ga-ga. A thrilling, full-flavored offering, this wine is just beginning to strut its stuff. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2015. Celestial black currants intermixed with coffee, licorice, Asian spices, and pain grille notes are more reminiscent of a blockbuster vintage of Mouton-Rothschild than what I would expect from a Shiraz/Cabernets blend."
