1993 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 1993 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion (91ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full ruby-red. Knockout, complex nose offers vibrant aromas of raspberry, sour red cherry, strawberry, licorice and violet, complicated by white pepper and rose. Then moderately dense and fresh in the mouth, with delicately spicy notes of redcurrant, strawberry, licorice, coffee and minerals. This rather elegantly styled wine finishes bright and fresh, with firm, highly polished tannins. This midweight Cheval Blanc lacks the density and concentration of the better vintages, but it has an amazingly pure nose of Cabernet Franc (I'd score this 95 or more for its aromas) that is a joy to inhale. For those with deep pockets, it's also a fantastic food wine, and a simply amazing buy, since it will cost much less than many other more sought-after Cheval Blanc vintages." (10/2011)

1995 Vieux-Château-Certan, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1995 Vieux-Château-Certan, Pomerol (93RP, 92WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This bottle is not quite in the same league as ones tasted two or three years ago, but the ’95 remains one of Alexandre’s standout wines of that decade. Here, it has a haunting bouquet whereby the Cabernet Franc component is more conspicuous than before, essentially with more Pomerol character developing. There are touches of blackberry, mint and cassis with a meaty element developing in the glass. The palate has plenty of sweet red cherry and boysenberry on the entry, the oak now completely absorbed and with a slightly unruly, almost Rioja-like finish! Hedonistic VCC! Drink 2017-2035. 1985 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1985 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (94RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " This is a great Pichon-Lalande wallowing in its maturity. Here it retains that enticing tobacco-infused nose with leather and a touch of thyme, the palate beautifully balanced with tarry black fruit, vibrant acidity, mellow and supple with a touch of game coming through. Supple with firm tannins marrying naturally on the finish that has the texture (though not alcohol!) of a tawny port. I suspect this has not intention of ameliorating further and alongside the 1983, these are the Pichon Lalande’s to start depleting in your cellar. Drink now-2018. Tasted January 2010. 1983 Palmer, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1983 Palmer, Margaux (98RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine goes from strength to strength, and is certainly a candidate for 'wine of the vintage.' It has surpassed even Chateau Margaux in recent tastings. The color is an opaque plum/purple. The wine has a fabulously complex nose of smoked duck, white flowers, cedar, Asian spice, creme de cassis, melted licorice, and espresso. Super-concentrated, very powerful, full-bodied, and huge, this is undeniably, one of the biggest, most concentrated, and powerful Palmers made in the last 40 years. The wines has thrown off the rugged tannins that were so prominent during its first 10-15 years of life and has become increasingly seamless and compelling. Potentially this wine remains the most extraordinary Palmer after the 1961. Anticipated maturity: Now-2020. " (01/2003)

2008 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (98RP, 97WE, 95JS, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2008 should have been purchased before it began to soar in value because of the significance of the number 8 in the Chinese culture (denoting good luck). Representing 40% of the production, this blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc offers aromas of high quality unsmoked cigar tobacco, lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, earth, cedar and asphalt. Full, rich and stunningly concentrated... The 2008 should be relatively drinkable in 6-10 years as it is already showing remarkable complexity and breed, and will last for 30-35 years...at the minimum. (RP)" (05/2011)

1993 Petrus, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1993 Petrus, Pomerol (95WS, 92RP). 95 points and a 'Cellar Selection' designation from Wine Spectator: "A truly classic Pétrus and comparable to the '88, '86 and '82. Showy and impressive with excellent use of new oak. It delivers loads of toasty coconut and chocolate flavors balanced by plum and blackberry notes. Incredible concentration for the vintage. Supple, long finish." (01/96) 92 points Robert Parker: "A candidate for the most concentrated wine of the vintage, this 1993 exhibits a saturated purple/plum color, and a sweet nose of black fruits, Asian spices, and vanilla. Huge and formidably rich, this powerful, dense, super-pure wine is a tour de force in winemaking. For a vintage not known for wines of this immense richness and length, this brawny, splendidly endowed Petrus possesses low acidity and high tannin, suggesting that 8-10 years of cellaring are required. This should be a 30-year wine, as well as the vintage's longest-lived effort. Very impressiv

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2010 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc (OWC - 94JS, 94RP, 92WE, 91WS, 90ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The wine needs a good 7-10 years of cellaring and should keep for 30 more years, but this is the finest Cantemerle I have encountered in my professional career of tasting young vintages (dating back 34 years now). Stunningly deep ruby/purple, with a beautiful nose of spring flowers intermixed with perfumed raspberry and blueberry notes, it exhibits a sort of cool-climate character. Broad, rich and intense on the palate, the wine has plenty of tannins, but they are sweet and well-integrated. Everything is delicately entwined into this beautiful, medium to full-bodied, dense purple wine, which shows stunning character and a prodigious potential for development. This is definitely a major sleeper of the vintage and even better than I thought from barrel. With its 2010, this classified growth located in the southern end of the Medoc may well have m

2009 Croix de Labrie, St-Emilion
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Croix de Labrie, St-Emilion (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Always one of Bordeaux's most endearing and charming wines, Croix de Labrie's wines generally offer an unctuous texture as well as enormous quantities of fruit. Made from 100% Merlot, the 2009 (about 300 cases produced) exhibits smoky black currant and raspberry liqueur notes intermixed with notions of licorice, graphite and wood smoke. Intense and unctuously textured with low acidity as well as sweet tannin, it is a hedonistic St.-Emilion fruit bomb to enjoy in its first 12-15 years of life. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild, Pauillac (94RP, 93WS, 91ST, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest Duhart-Milon ever made? This structured, tannic, dense ruby/purple-tinged Pauillac offers up hints of cassis, licorice, chocolate, and earth. Medium to full-bodied with good purity, strong tannins, and undeniable elegance, it reveals a character not dissimilar from its renowned sibling, Lafite-Rothschild... 2009 Gracia, St-Emilion
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Gracia, St-Emilion (98RP, 94JS, 94ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Gracia competes handsomely with the spectacular 2005 and 2000 vintages. A slightly more evolved and fleshy effort, the inky/purple-hued 2009 (75 % Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a massive, thick powerhouse with 14.5% natural alcohol. Proprietor Michel Gracia often makes a wine that is similar to that of his friend, the proprietor of Ausone. Blueberry, blackberry, licorice, forest floor, smoke and graphite aromas jump from the glass of this unctuously textured, layered, multidimensional St.-Emilion. Displaying an inner core of extract (yields were only 19 hectoliters per hectare) and not a hard edge to be found, this youthful 2009 tastes more like a barrel sample than a finished wine. It will benefit from 5-10 years of cellaring and should last for 3-4 decades." (02/2012)

Of the 1998 Monbousquet, St-Emilion,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Yields of 28-30 hectoliters per hectare are among the lowest in St.-Emilion, which no doubt accounts for the wine's explosive richness. The final blend, 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc, was bottled unfined and unfiltered after 18 months in 100% new oak, with aging on the lees. It boasts a saturated plum/purple color in addition to an exotic bouquet of Asian spices, plum liqueur, prunes, and blackberries. 2009 Le Dôme, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Le Dôme, St-Emilion (99RP, 95JS, 95ST, 95WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most distinctive wines made in Bordeaux, Le Dome has one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Franc of any claret I can think of. Composed of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, it exhibits a certain delicacy and elegance (due to the Cabernet Franc component) in addition to resounding power, concentration, depth and multidimensional personality. Black/purple to the rim, it offers strikingly intense notes of spring flowers, raspberries, mulberries and wood smoke, medium to full body, sweet tannin and a cunning intensity and texture that suggest finesse and delicacy. However, the wine’s richness, length and lingering depth build incrementally in this exceptional St.-Emilion. It will be drinkable in 4-5 years and should age for two decades or more. 1973 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (Picasso Label)
Bid on this bottle of 1973 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac. Chris Kissack's TheWineDoctor.com: "Phillippe Rothschild called it '...the monstrous injustice' of Mouton's second growth status. For years the labels stated simply 'Premier ne puis, second ne daigne, Mouton suis,' or 'First I cannot be, second I do not deign to be, I am Mouton'. It was clear from the great vintages produced in the 1860s and 1870s that the 1855 classification was already outdated, and that change was long overdue. But no such review of this classification will ever take place, and it was only thanks to the tireless campaigning of Philippe that Jacques Chirac, then Minister of Agriculture, passed a decree conferring the status of first growth upon Mouton-Rothschild in 1973. At last the wrong had been righted, and from then on Mouton's labels bore a new inscription, 'Premier je suis, second je fus. Mouton ne change,' or 'First I am, second I was. Mouton does not change'."

1995 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan (95RP, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This vintage is aging at a glacial pace and the tannins are currently more significant than their counterbalancing components of fruit and glycerin. While the word “potential” seems to be the most positive descriptor for this vintage, there are some nagging doubts about whether all the tannins will melt away and the fruit will hold. As in most 1995s, the color remains a healthy dark plum/purple. One of the bigger wines of the vintage, the ripe, powerful Merlot component has buttressed the Cabernet elements, giving the wine plenty of body, tannin and La Mission’s classic asphalt, cassis, blackberry, smoky barbecue, meaty notes intermixed with a hint of hot rocks. The 1995 is still a young wine and I am beginning to wonder if this vintage overall will resemble 1975 rather than something with more charm? Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035?. (95+) (RP)" (08/2012)

1986 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 Margaux, Margaux (98AG, 98RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A magnificent example of Chateau Margaux and one of the most tannic, backward Margauxs of the last 50 years, the 1986 continues to evolve at a glacial pace. The color is still a dense ruby/purple with just a hint of lightening at the rim. With several hours of aeration, the aromatics become striking, with notes of smoke, toast, creme de cassis, mineral, and white flowers. Very full-bodied, with high but sweet tannin, great purity, and a very masculine, full-bodied style, this wine should prove nearly immortal in terms of its aging potential. It is beginning to budge from its infantile stage and approach adolescence. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2050. Last tasted, 12/02. (RP)" (01/2003)

Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a solid core of fruit. This goes on and on on the palate. The essence of class and refinement. Relatively good value, considering the superb quality. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins that are soft and caressing, like cashmere. This is so tight and powerful still; it seems to be holding back. Be patient, because it will open with another five or six years of bottle age. Hard to wait. So why do it? (2009)"

2009 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (98RP, 97JS, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A dense ruby/purple-tinged color offers up notes of forest floor, subtle wood smoke, mulberries, black cherries, cassis and a hint of lead pencil shavings. There is even a floral component lurking in the intricate aromatic profile. The wine is medium to full-bodied with wonderful intensity that builds incrementally and has a long, silky, luscious finish. There is plenty of tannin, but it is largely concealed by the wine’s beautiful fruit and ethereal complexity. Given its virtually perfect balance, this brilliant Haut-Bailly should age effortlessly for 3-4 decades. This is a tour de force in winemaking, particularly for readers seeking the quintessential example of a Bordeaux that combines compelling complexity and finesse with significant flavor authority and intensity. I suppose we could see this coming as American owner, Robert Wilmers, along with his winemaker/manag

2008 Le Gay, Pomerol (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Le Gay, Pomerol (OWC - 94RP, 92ST, 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the top successes of the vintage, the 2008 Le Gay, a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc (13.5% alcohol) was produced from tiny yields of 25 hectoliters per hectare. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it exhibits a dense purple color as well as a sweet nose of spring flowers intermixed with blueberries, blackberries, dark raspberries, crushed rocks and white chocolate. Full-bodied, super intense and extremely promising (although it is unusually backward for a 2008), it will benefit from 5-7 years of cellaring and may merit an even higher score in a decade or so. It should last for 30+ years, making it one of the longest-lived wines of the vintage. (RP)" (05/2011)

2009 Laforge, St-Emilion (OWC)
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2009 Laforge, St-Emilion (OWC - 96RP, 92ST, 90WS, 89WE, 16DC) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From proprietor Jonathan Maltus, this blend of three terroirs, two on sand and one on gravel, is a blend of 92% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. About 2,000 cases are produced, and the prodigious 2009 is the finest vintage to date. Inky blue/purple, with notes of licorice, camphor, black truffle, blackberry and blueberry, this full-bodied wine has massive concentration yet at the same time displays elegance and harmony. The equilibrium and 60+-second length make for a huge, massive, but incredibly well-balanced wine, like a shadow of the proprietor himself. Drink it over the next 15 or more years. " (02/2012)

2009 Saint-Pierre, St-Julien
Bid on this 8-bottle lot of 2009 Saint-Pierre, St-Julien (98RP, 93JS, 93ST, 92WE, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The all-time greatest wine I have ever tasted from Saint-Pierre, this estate, the smallest of the grand cru classes of St.-Julien, has an opaque purple color and a spectacular nose of subtle charcoal, creme de cassis, blackberry, and incense. Full-bodied, with striking intensity and flamboyantly rich, exuberant flavors bursting with extract, the St. Pierre has no hard edges, but rather massive, incredibly well-endowed blockbuster style, which should prove to be monumental. Give it 6-8 years to take on more definition and calm down, but this is a 30- to 40-year wine. Bravo! (RP)" (02/2012)

1998 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Montrose, St-Estèphe (90RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A classic effort, the 1998 Montrose exhibits a dense purple color in addition to a sweet nose of jammy cassis, licorice, earth, and smoke. It is a powerful and full-bodied wine with well-integrated tannin. Given Montrose's tendency to shut down, it is performing better out of bottle than I expected. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2030.
