2006 Maison Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Malconsorts"

91 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe and exotic, with sandalwood and incense aromas highlighting the cherry and red currant flavors. There's some burly tannins behind the fruit. Needs time to integrate. Best from 2011 through 2024." (11/2008) K&L Notes: This is darker and earthier in character with a thread of minerality that runs forever on your palate. When I tasted this, I asked Nicolas if this was from high on the hill, near Gaudichots. He smiled, raised his glass, nodded and winked, which I took as a clear "yes". This is a real sleeper, less known than his Gaudichots. Nicolas is using homeopat... Read More »

2006 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Bonnes Mares Grand Cru

94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is quite restrained with almost exclusively red berry fruit and intense floral aromas that are high-toned and pure while complementing the supple, textured, dusty and extremely precise flavors that exude a quiet power on the brooding and linear finish that delivers outstanding length. This will require every bit of a decade to resolve the very firm structure. This is less elegant than the 1er but more powerful and the distinguishing character of the '06 Bonnes Mares is the serenity that it projects. I thought that it would be good but this knock ...Read More »

2006 Joseph Drouhin Musigny Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Joseph Drouhin Musigny Grand Cru (95RP, 95WE, 91ST, 90BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Musky floral notes suggesting narcissus, magnolia, and perhaps some sort of exotic orchid mingle in the nose of Drouhin's 2006 Musigny with quinine, birch beer, and kirsch. The palate boasts remarkable richness and sheer viscosity for the vintage – though little superficial sweetness – along with textural refinement that goes beyond even the best of the rest of this year's Drouhin collection. Fruit pit bitterness; brown spices; roasting pan reduction of meat and fat; and an almost palpable sense of chalky and ore-like minerality add to the mystery and invigoration of a vibratory finish. This tastes awfully delicious today, though it should probably be given a few years in bottle. It ought to perform marvelously for at least a decade. (DS)" (12/2009)

2006 Domaine Ponsot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru

Allen Meadows writes: "Strong reduction. The cool and refined flavors are rich and extremely earthy, indeed more so than usual with good mid-palate density and fine precision and while the finish also displays a touch of dryness, I really like the depth this offers. This is not a perfect effort but one that is more than respectable given the significant hail damage suffered in 2006."

2006 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Perrieres"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Perrieres" ((91-93ST), 92BH, (89-90RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full yellow color. Sexy aromas of truffle, vanilla, nut oil and charry oak. Superrich and sweet yet taut, with notes of stone fruits, nut oil and spices. This charming, rather fat wine shows an almost Meursault-like texture today. Boillot says this will be less exotic after a sulfur treatment. " (09/2007)

2006 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux Grand Cru
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux Grand Cru ((93-94RP), (90-93ST), 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sweet, spicy profusion of cinnamon, ginger, cocoa powder, lily perfume, maraschino, and kirsch soars from the glass of Rouget 2006 Echezeaux, which comes to the palate with unexpected depth and richness of roasted meats, chalk, and saline savor, though to be sure, the bright red fruits and spices never flag. This is positively vibratory as well as riveting in its dynamic, oscillating finishing complexity. I'd give it 3-4 years head start and then plan to follow it for another decade. (DS)" (12/2009)

2006 Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Champeaux"
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2006 Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Champeaux" (93BH, 93RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Dugat-Py 2006 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux displays more finesse and refinement of texture as well as a similar, seemingly gravity-defying combination of density with lift and buoyancy to the corresponding Petite Chapelle, although there is less sheer flavor concentration and drama on display. Black tea and blackberry are decadently laced with peony floral notes in the nose, and the tea and berries are underlain by peat, wet stone, and iron filings. It lingers palate-saturatingly, stimulatingly, and a bit mysteriously. Expect more excitement over the next several years and an at least dozen year potential. (DS)" (12/2009)

2006 Domaine Faiveley Beaune 1er Cru "Clos de l'Ecu"

Jancis Robinson: "Bumptious fruit and scent. Just as a relatively early-drinking red Beaune should be. (JR) 16.5 points" (2/2008) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium red. Cherry, earth and leather aromas lifted by a floral nuance. Suave, juicy and light on its feet, with modest flesh but good minerality to the flavors of strawberry, cherry, spices and earth. Finishes with light, dusty tannins. (ST)" (3/2009) Wine Spectator: "Bright, with cherry, cedar and sage flavors, yet also tannic, with a slightly dry finish. Needs a little time to open up. Best from 2011 through 2020. 55 cases imported. (BS) Web 2009"

2006 Domaine Leroy Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Narbantons"

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is a clear step up in aromatic depth if not elegance with its stylish, pure and expressive nose redolent of ample amounts of pungent Savigny earth and underbrush suffusing the ripe red and dark pinot fruit aromas trimmed in noticeable if subtle oak that marries into exceptionally rich, round and sweet flavors oozing with dry extract that, at present anyway, completely buffer the underlying structure. The tannins are dense but fine and this finishes with an attractive hint of minerality. Terrific as this is an elegant Savigny. Drink: 2018+" (4/2008)92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Th ...Read More »

2006 Drouhin-Laroze Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Drouhin-Laroze Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru ((91-94BH), 90WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "* Don't Miss! * As one would expect, this is considerably more refined if not necessarily more complex with a layered and wonderfully nuanced nose of clove, anise and crushed pepper adding interest to the mostly red berry fruits that display bass notes of earth, game and underbrush. The big-boned flavors are mouth coating and dusty but avoid any sense of underlying dryness on the classy, serious and hugely long finish. A beast but a well-mannered one." (01/2008)
