2005 Clos de Sarpe, St-Emilion
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Clos de Sarpe, St-Emilion (95RP, (89-92ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Clearly a wine made for future generations, Clos de Sarpe, with its tendency for tiny yields of under 25 hectoliters per hectare, has fashioned a 1,000 case blend of 85% Merlot and the rest old vine Cabernet Franc. Over recent vintages, this wine has been among the most concentrated and formidably tannic and backward made in Bordeaux. A claret for those with 19th century tastes, it offers good purity, ripe tannin, and an extraordinary display of concentration, extract, power, and tannic clout. The 2005 is a mammoth yet incredibly well-balanced St.-Emilion that represents an anomaly in modern day winemaking. It is a pleasure to see a proprietor push the envelope and create a wine that will be appreciated for 40-50 years. Classic sweet black cherry, licorice, roasted herb, and underbrush characteristics are present in this formidable, full-bodied, powerful wine. 95+ points. (RP)"

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1999 Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Maremma Toscana (93WS, 92RP). Wine Spectator: "Extremely ripe, almost raisiny, with loads of raspberry and cherry character, yet there's a sophistication, a subtlety, to the wine. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a silky, well-defined finish. A pure and pretty wine." (10/2001)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Malconsorts" (92WS, 90BH, 90ST). Wine Spectator: "This lovely 2004 is ripe and opulent, with a balanced attack. Cherry, strawberry and floral notes permeate the silky texture, and it kicks in with a second wave from midpalate to the finish. The tannins are well-integrated and the finish is very long." Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Riper, spicier and here the wood is extremely subtle and really just a background nuance that precedes supple, round and delicious flavors that possess a thoroughly attractive texture and excellent persistence on the youthfully austere finish. Good stuff here and built to age." (01/2006)

2006 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (93BH, (92-93RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Comprising two barrels’ worth each from Pernand and Aloxe, picked the same day and married already in the press ,sources he first tapped in 2003, Colin’s 2006 Corton-Charlemagne smells generously and sweetly of peony, watermelon, and nut oils. Quite broad and creamy for its appellation, this nevertheless does not lack for insistent refreshment and crushed stone minerality, lingering with an authoritative sense of grand cru length and refinement, and promising at least 7-9 years of cellar potential. 1999 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92ST, 91RP, 90WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full ruby. Sexy aromas of plum, truffle, mocha and musky coffee, plus a suggestion of old wood. Still quite dense, even young, with complex flavors of minerals, spices and underbrush. Boasts lovely silky sweetness but at the same time comes across as aromatic and nicely delineated, finishing with suave tannins and lovely persistence. I suspect Togni's barrels are better today but this ten-year-old library release possesses a firm spine and is in fine shape." (06/2009)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Corbeaux" Vieilles Vignes ((89-92BH), 91RP, 90ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Sweet Spot, Outstanding* Moderate wood influence does not really detract from the ripe blue and black pinot fruit that is cut with both plum and violets that are picked up by the extremely rich, velvety and mouth coating big-bodied flavors that possess a seductive mouth feel as the dry extract almost completely buffers the structural elements. This is decidedly more primary than any of the preceding wines and despite the huge extract, it's clear that this is carrying a firm tannic backbone. In sum, this is extremely promising." (01/2009)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Perrot-Minot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru ((92-95BH), 94WS, 93ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Don't Miss!* A complex, deep and densely fruited nose of black and blue berry fruits, earth and obvious spice and game notes introduce rich, full and broad flavors that are opulent and relatively accessible for a young Clos de Vougeot yet the finish tightens up quickly. This is robust yet classy with huge reserves of dry extract. In a word, stunning." (01/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Domaine F. Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" (93BH, 93ST, (90-91RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Musky aromas of chicken broth, lime and crushed stone; quite austere and slow to open. Then less fruity but more important on the palate, with bracing flavors of lemon and apple and an impression of minerality I can only describe as creamy. A very rich, dense wine with a strength of material that belies the normal-for-Raveneau yield of about 50 hectoliters per hectare." (07/2004)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey-St.-Denis 1er Cru "Les Faconnieres" (92BH, 92ST, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated ruby-red. Vibrant, deep aromas of blackberry, maraschino cherry, violet and minerals, plus a pungent citrus quality that adds further lift; this offers the refreshment value of an '06. Suave on entry, then sappy and energetic in the middle, with brisk flavors of black cherry, spices, herbs and mint nicely framed by well-integrated acidity. I like this wine's medicinal reserve. Finishes smooth, deep, fine-grained and very long, with dusty tannins and lovely aromatic lift." (03/2008)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A strikingly layered nose combines ample amounts of pungent Gevrey-style earth, spice, iron notes and ripe red and dark berry fruit that meld with very serious, even brooding big-bodied flavors that are built on a base of firm minerality and finish with excellent richness and depth. This is a classic Gevrey in both style and character with excellent power and really lovely balance. In a word, terrific." (01/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Frédéric Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Lavaux St-Jacques" ((89-92BH), 91WS, 90ST). There is more muscle and punch here and this is very Gevrey in character and style. Very solid quality and also recommended." (01/2007)

2000 La Gomerie, St-Emilion
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2000 La Gomerie, St-Emilion (96RP, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Two recent tastings of the 2000 La Gomerie both reinforced my comments of seven years ago. An interesting thing about this 100% Merlot is how well it ages. Perhaps it deserves more attention. Its dense purple color is followed by a beautiful perfume of spring flowers, creme de cassis, jammy black cherries, licorice, graphite, and espresso roast. Full-bodied, deep, superbly concentrated, pure, long, and made in a modern style, it should drink well for another decade. (RP)" (06/2010)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Bodegas Alto Moncayo "Aquilon" Garnacha Campo de Borja (96RP, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1,000 case luxury cuvee, the 2004 Aquilon, was fashioned from the winery’s oldest vines and best material. Revealing nearly off the chart ripeness, richness, and intensity, it will undoubtedly be controversial, separating traditionalists from more progressive tasters, but I loved it. It will be interesting to see how this tour de force in winemaking ages. It is the vino equivalent of a Hummer four-wheel drive vehicle. (RP)" (08/2006)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Perrot-Minot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (94RP, 93WS, 92BH, (90-92ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The fruit for Perrot-Minot's 2006 Chapelle-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, he reports, took two days of sorting, berry-by-berry, to avoid any taint of hail. Intensely-concentrated blackberry, cassis, peat, and savory, salted beef stock inform a seamlessly-rich, plush palate whose fine tannins have been almost completely sublimated. But for all of its density, when compared with the premier cru bottlings here this year, this Chapelle displays tension and vivacity that set up an enervating interplay of finishing flavors without depriving the taster of one bit of the succulence and juiciness promised on the mid-palate. This kinetic, tiny-berried, multi-boned grand cru reduction should be worth following for 12-15 years. (DS)" (12/2009)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Domaine Pierre Usseglio Châteauneuf-du-Pape (90RP, 89ST). It offers a deep ruby/purple color in addition to aromas of black currants, cherries, dried Provencal herbs, and licorice. 1995 Sine Qua Non "The Other Hand" California Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 1995 Sine Qua Non "The Other Hand" California Syrah (92RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1995 The Other Hand is made from 100% Syrah grown in the Alban, Bien Nacido, and Stolpman vineyards, situated respectively in Edna Valley, Santa Maria, and Los Olivos. Aged 18 months in oak, of which 70% is new, this blockbuster, opaque purple-colored wine offers glorious notes of black fruits (primarily blackberry and cassis), subtle smoke, toast, and licorice, and a whiff of plant material and spice. Full-bodied, yet gorgeously layered and nearly seamless in its flamboyant display of fruit, glycerin, and extract, this large-scaled, yet drinkable Syrah will benefit from another 5-6 years in the bottle, but it is already accessible. It is another example of why I think wineries in this region should be ripping out their Pinot Noir vines and re-planting with Syrah! (RP)" (12/1997)

Made in the classic, iconic Screaming Eagle style that the original proprietress, Jean Philipps, first showcased in the early 1990s, before the winery was sold to Stan Kroenke, the inky/purple-colored, seamless 2012 possesses an extraordinary set of aromatics consisting of pure blackcurrant liqueur, licorice, acacia flowers, graphite and a subtle hint of new oak. Bid on this 11-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Folatières" (93ST, 92BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright straw-yellow. Musky aromas of lime, menthol, hazelnut and smoke. Dense and chewy but light on its feet; suave, intense and saline wine with a dusty finish that really perks up the taste buds. Offering less floral perfume today than the 2011 but this is deeper, chewier and more serious, not to mention more concentrated. A wine of outstanding finesse." (09/2012)

1982 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (97RP, 96AG, 96JS, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a denser version of the 1990 that stylistically reminds me of what the young 1959 probably tasted like. Still backward with a deep ruby/plum color revealing only a touch of lightening at the edge, the wine offers up an extraordinary nose of caramelized herbs, smoke, cedar, pen ink, black currants, and earth. The gorgeous aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, plump, rich, fleshy wine with low acidity. With 6-8 hours decanting in a closed decanter, it will offer beautiful drinking, but it needs another 5-8 years to reach full maturity. It is capable of lasting 50-60 years. (97+) (RP)" (06/2009)

1996 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Margaux, Margaux (99RP, 96ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Chateau Margaux, which was bottled in September 1998, is undoubtedly one of the great classics produced under the Mentzelopoulos regime. In many respects it is the quintessential Chateau Margaux, as well as the paradigm for this estate, combining measured power, extraordinary elegance, and admirable complexity. I tasted the wine of three separate occasions in January, and in short, it's a beauty! The color is opaque purple. The wine offers extraordinarily pure notes of blackberries, cassis, pain grille, and flowers, gorgeous sweetness, a seamless personality, and full body, with nothing out of place." (04/1999)

1985 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 1985 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (94RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at “The Wine Society” with Warren Winiarski. This out-performed the ’84 by a wide margin. It has a very intense nose of blackberry, black coffee, a little plum and liquorice. On the medium-bodied palate there are smooth velvety tannins, quite opulent with notes of mulberry and black plum. The ’85 is suffused with elegance and sophisticatation, feminine and wily like the 1983. (NM)" (05/2009)

1997 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 1997 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 97ST, 97WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1997 Harlan Estate is one of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines I have ever tasted. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this enormously-endowed, profoundly rich wine must be tasted to be believed. Opaque purple-colored, it boasts spectacular, soaring aromatics of vanilla, minerals, coffee, blackberries, licorice, and cassis. In the mouth, layer after layer unfold powerfully yet gently. Acidity, tannin, and alcohol are well-balanced by the wine's unreal richness and singular personality. The finish exceeds one minute. (RP)" (12/2000)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (OWC - 95RP, 94WE, 93ST, 92JS, 91WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sleeper of the vintage, the 2008 Pichon Longueville Baron is one of the densest, most concentrated wines of Pauillac in 2008. An inky/purple color is followed by aromas and flavors of creme de cassis, blackberries, charcoal, coffee and licorice. Exceptionally full-bodied with velvety tannins and undeniable appeal, this gorgeous, well-proportioned, larger than life 2008 should age effortlessly for two decades or more. (RP)" (05/2011)

2007 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100JS, 100RP, 97WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Scarecrow's inky/purple-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is a prodigious effort. It reveals a liqueur of crushed rocks intermixed with a smorgasbord of spring flower, blueberry, creme de cassis, and assorted blue, black, and red fruit characteristics. It also possesses extraordinary concentration, but what sets it apart is the fragrant aromatics combined with uncommon purity and elegance for such a full-bodied, massively concentrated wine. Its perfect balance suggests it can be drunk at a relatively young age, but it should easily evolve over 30-35 years. Congratulations to all involved!" (12/2009)

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Leflaive Bienvenues Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (OWC - (91-94BH), 93ST) in original wood. Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Don't Miss!* Here the nose is quite similar to that of the Pucelles, particularly with its honeysuckle and citrus aromas that are perhaps ever so slightly less ripe while leading to rich, concentrated and slightly more focused and delineated medium full flavors that explode on the palate staining finish. I like the energy here as well as the underlying sense of harmony of expression." (07/2008)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru (92BH, 91RP, 91ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is discreetly floral with an elegant, refined and dense nose of red berry fruit, earth and wisps of anise and clove that precede textured, fresh and mouth coating medium plus weight flavors that possess good richness and solid power, punch, depth and length. Though it would not be my recommendation, this is sufficiently forward that it could actually be drunk now with sufficient aeration." (01/2010)

1989 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 1989 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (1.5L) (99RP, 96WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 has taken forever to shed its formidable tannins, but what a great vintage of Lynch Bages! I would rank it at the top of the pyramid although the 1990, 2000, and down the road, some of the more recent vintages such as 2005, 2009 and 2010 should come close to matching the 1989's extraordinary concentration and undeniable aging potential. Its dense purple color reveals a slight lightening at the edge and the stunning bouquet offers classic notes of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, oak and graphite. Powerful and rich with some tannins still to shed at age 22, it is still a young adolescent in terms of its evolution and will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring. It should prove to be a 50 year wine. (RP)" (08/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos Saint Jacques" (96RP, 92ST, 91BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "How good is this? Well, it embarrassed the glass of La Tache 1990 before it! The nose reminds me of the Chambertin 1996 from Rousseau, dark black cherry fruit, blackberry leaf, a touch of tar and sous-bois coming through. The palate has a firm structure, less fleshy than the 1995, more masculine with great length and grip. Superb fruit concentration with more blackberry, cassis flavours towards the finish. This has so much vibrancy and charm, with the depth to suggest a long future. Drink now-2020+. Tasted May 2008. (NM-Wine Journal)" (07/2008)

Sweet candied cherries are found throughout its supple character and long finish. (PR)" (06/2000)

Of the 2004 Sine Qua Non "Ode to E" Central Coast Grenache,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "This tiny cuvee (248 cases), a blend of 88% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 2% Viognier, was pure perfection on the morning in late June when I tasted it. It reminded me of a hypothetical blend of a 2001 Clos du Caillou Reserve and a 2005 Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf du Pape. The wine has a stunning ruby/purple color and a gorgeous nose of melted licorice, lead pencil shavings, jammy black cherries and black currants, incense, and a hint of smoked Peking Duck. Gorgeously opulent, full-bodied and already very complex, but still quite youthful, this is another strikingly haunting wine that was pure perfection and likely to last for at lea

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Strong reduction makes the nose impossible to evaluate but the full-bodied flavors are impressively powerful yet they are unusually accessible for a young Bonnes Mares with fine intensity, persistence and a balanced finish. This is not an especially big wine by the typical standards of the appellation but the focus and detail are excellent." (01/2010)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 97WS, 95ST). Still beautifully put together and aging gracefully, with a core of sweet fruit, it is certainly drinking well now, yet should continue to hold and drink nicely through 2020. (RP)" (06/2013)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Bouchard Père et Fils Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru ((93-95BH), 95ST, 95WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright dark red. Initially reticent aromas of cherry, cola, flowers, pepper and sweet oak. Dense and fine-grained but youthfully imploded, with a strong stony minerality keeping the red cherry, bitter chocolate and floral flavors under wraps. Finishes very juicy and very long, with intriguing pepper and floral nuances. The recorked bottle 24 hours later showed brilliantly complex aromas and flavors of black raspberry, bitter chocolate, rose petal and minerals and superb sappy persistence. A great expression of soil and a highlight of the vintage. I promise you that I drained the bottle to the last drop." (04/2001)

This wine is tightly wound and remains an infant developmentally. Nevertheless, all the ingredients for greatness are present but it will take a decade of cellaring for them to be full expressed. 2005 Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur Richebourg Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur Richebourg Grand Cru (95ST, 94BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "8 barrels made, vs. a normal 11 or 12) Full red-ruby, not quite as dark as the other grand crus at this address. Reticent but wild nose hints at black raspberry, minerals and game. At once powerful and suave, with terrific inner-palate tension and sneaky intensity of dark fruit and violet flavor. Finishes impressively long, with thoroughly buffered, fine-grained tannins. Gros prefers wines that combine power and roundness, and he ventured the opinion that only grand crus can give the sweetness with strength that he prizes." (03/2007)
