2004 Kilikanoon "Oracle" Shiraz Clare Valley South Australia
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Kilikanoon "Oracle" Shiraz Clare Valley South Australia (93JH, 93ST, 92WS, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated violet. Explosive, wild aromas of blackberry liqueur, cassis, licorice root and espresso. Boasts impressive weight and power on the palate, the dark berry flavors wonderfully sweet but also focused and firmed by solid tannins. Awfully primary right now but possesses superb concentration of fruit and fine-grained, well-managed tannins. Finishes long, on a note of sweet licorice." (08/2006)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Shiraz 9 is a flamboyant, opaque purple-colored, full-bodied effort revealing notes of espresso roast, chocolate, smoked meats, and toasty American oak. Fleshy, full-throttle, pure, and intensely concentrated, it is a classic South Australian Shiraz to enjoy during its first 7-8 years of life." (10/2004)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Noon "Eclipse" Grenache-Shiraz Langhorn Creek South Australia (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A Grenache and Shiraz blend, the medium garnet colored 2004 Eclipse presents a lovely Grenache perfume of raspberry preserves, dried cherries, licorice, pepper and some chocolate. Full-bodied, rich and seductive, it still has tons of concentrated fruit married to a medium level of grainy tannins and a long finish. Drink it now to 2024+. (LPB)" (12/2014)

Of the 2005 Marquis Philips "9" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2005 Shiraz 9 (a 4,000-case cuvee that spends 18 months in new and one-year-old American oak) reveals a big, toasty, smoky nose, but the oak is beautifully absorbed by extravagant quantities of blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with licorice, incense, and spice. 1997 Noon Reserve Tasting Lot
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1997 Noon Reserve Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 1997 Noon Shiraz Reserve (98RP) and 1-bottle of 1997 Noon Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (93RP, 91ST). Of the 1997 Noon Shiraz Reserve,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 1997 Shiraz Reserve comes close to resembling a dry vintage port. One of the most concentrated wines I have ever tasted (reminiscent of the Clarendon Hills Astralis), yields were not low at 3.5 tons per acre, but the 35-year old vine age and sur-maturite of this wine have resulted in something special. It boasts an opaque black/purple color, followed by a sumptuous nose of licorice, Asian spices, tar, and concentrated blackberry fruit. Thick in the mouth, with remarkably full body and surprising balance, the alcohol (15.8%), tannin, and acidity are lost in the cascades of fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2025. A name to watch for is Drew Noon, who has taken over his father's winery, and apparently hit the bull's eye with everything I

2001 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia (98RP, 94ST, 93WE, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It is always a treat to taste Australia’s most famous wine, Penfolds’ Grange cuvee (the word Hermitage has been dropped because of legal issues). The 2001 Grange is one of the few vintages of this cuvee to be composed of 100% Shiraz (the others being 1951, 1952, 1963, 1999, and 2000). Aged 17 months in 100% American oak, and tipping the scales at 14.5% alcohol, the 2001 is undeniably one of the top examples of this wine. At this stage, it appears to eclipse the 1998 and 1996. Inky/blue/purple to the rim, with a stunning perfume of blueberries, blackberries, chocolate, graphite, and earth, it boasts good acidity, huge tannins, magnificent concentration, and a multilayered, textured mouthfeel. It is a big, but impeccably well-balanced Shiraz that should shed some of its structure and tannin over the next 4-5 years, and be at its best between 2010-2030+. (98+
