2011 Rhys "Home Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2011 Rhys "Home Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir (96AG, 93ST, 92BH). Antonio Galloni: "The 2011 Pinot Noir Home Vineyard bursts from glass with racy red berries, flowers, smoke, licorice, incense and orange peel. Exotic, beguiling and beautifully layered, the 2011 boasts stunning depth, yet weightless elegance and tons of pure personality. The racy, explosive finish is a marvel to behold. An utterly dazzling Pinot, the 2011 should drink well for years. It is one of the few California Pinots I would bet on to age gracefully for more than a decade. This dazzling Pinot Noir has pedigree and structure to burn. In a word: superb! Home was the first parcel to ripen in 2011, and as such, the team felt the stems were ripe enough to use a mostly whole clusters, 93% to be exact. (Antonio Galloni)" (07/2013)

2002 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah (95RP, 94CG, 94WS, 91WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brainchild of winemaker/viticulturist Elias Fernandez, the Relentless (a blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Petite Sirah aged 32 months in 100% new French oak) has been a fabulous success since its debut vintage. There are 2,500 cases of this remarkable cuvee. The inky/purple-hued 2002 Relentless possesses a fabulously exuberant, extroverted nose of black fruits, creosote, flowers, and pepper along with huge, sweet blueberry, chocolaty, espresso notes. Flamboyant, rich, full-bodied, and intense, but not overweight, it will drink well for 10-12 years. (RP)" (12/2005)

2004 Ridge Vineyards "Jimsomare" Santa Cruz Mountains Zinfandel
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Ridge Vineyards "Jimsomare" Santa Cruz Mountains Zinfandel. The five-hundred-acre Jimsomare Ranch, located between 1300' and 2000' on Monte Bello Ridge, is one of Ridge's earliest grape sources. First cultivated in the late eighteen-hundreds by the Alsatian Pierre Klein, this prime viticultural land has been in San Francisco's Schwabacher family for seventy years; Ridge took over farming in 1996 under the terms of a thirty-year lease. The Cabernet from this property is largely included in the Monte Bello bottling now, and the Zin enjoys a similar pedigree from the small block of nineteenth-century vines which have produced many intense and distinctive wines.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Esprit de Beaucastel ‘Panoplie’ flows with the essence of dark plums, black cherries, licorice and leather. It is bigger, richer and darker than the straight Esprit, with more inner palate sweetness and sheer power. Tar, spices, iron, crushed rocks and a host of other dark aromas and flavors give the Panoplie much of its distinctive brooding, inward personality ... This is a fabulous effort from Tablas Creek. However, it is impeccably balanced and seamless, revealing the estate's classic blueberry, black currant, mineral, and floral characteristics in its moderately intense aromatics. Attractive aromas of redcurrant, game, licorice and chocolate. Dense and fine-grained, with brisk acidity framing the flavors of blackberry, iodine and game (I might have picked this blind as Malbec!). 2010 Booker "The Ripper" Paso Robles Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Booker "The Ripper" Paso Robles Grenache (97RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I was blown away by the 2010 Ripper, a 100% Grenache done in concrete for the first time. It boasts captivating aromatic complexity, layers of sweet, refined fruit and fabulous overall balance. Vivid red fruit, flowers, mint and spices linger on the sublime finish. The Ripper boasts extraordinary varietal expression. Making pure Grenache in Paso Robles is not easy, but this is a model of what can be achieved here. Although impeccably restrained, the sheer glycerin and richness are pure California. The 2010 Ripper is a modern-day classic from Booker and proprietor Eric Jensen. 1998 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP). 93 points Robert Parker: "A joint effort of Mark Herold, a former research oenologist at Joseph Phelps, and Erika Gottl, has produced 230 cases of their first wine, the 1998 Merus. The wine is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine was made from fruit picked extremely ripe, aged largely in French new oak. It was slightly fined but not filtered. The 1998 (14.9% alcohol) is indeed an impressive wine from a much-maligned vintage. The color is intense ruby/purple. The nose offers up notes of creme de cassis and sweet black cherries, intermixed with nicely-infused toasty oak, mineral, and floral notes. The acidity seems low in this full-bodied, expressive, rich, multi-layered wine with a terrific texture and exceptional purity. This is a superb 1998, and certainly one of the finest wines of the vintage. It is also one heck of a debut wine from this small operation ... a California ga

Nearly fifteen years later, it still exhibits a light straw color with only a hint of gold. The wine is amazingly youthful, offering up notes of unbuttered popcorn, white currants, white peaches, honeysuckle and background earth and orange/nectarine characteristics. Medium to full-bodied with zesty acidity and, by California's standards, moderately high alcohol (14.8%), it should continue to drink well for at least another decade. No kidding. (RP)" (02/2011)

He’s doing everything right, and it’s good to see him planting a new estate vineyard of nearly 18 acres, building a new wine cellar, and taking full advantage of the gorgeous limestone soils on the hillsides of West Paso Robles. Trevisan has also been ahead of the curve in realizing that the finest Paso Robles wines are usually blends. Undeniably, he has demonstrated a Midas touch when it comes to assembling innovative blends. He is also the only winemaker in this region that I know of who is doing terrific work with Zinfandel, using it as the core component in some diverse as well as creative blends. 1981 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1981 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (90ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark ruby with a hint of garnet. Enticing aromas of dark plum, cassis, truffle, cedar and coffee. Rich, dense and suave, with ripe, rich flavors similar to the aromas. Finishes with a touch of alcoholic warmth and hints of underbrush, lead pencil and tobacco. The tannins are big and plush, but the wine nonetheless finishes with the classic, slightly austere mouthfeel typical of the 1981 vintage. I've always felt that this 1981 was a major success for Lynch-Bages and this bottle bears this out once again." (01/2012)

2005 Williams Selyem "Rochioli Riverblock" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Williams Selyem "Rochioli Riverblock" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (96CG, 95WE, 93ST, 92WS, 90RP). Connoisseurs Guide: " *Three Stars* Not only the best of a very fine lot from Williams Selyem, but our pick as one of the best Pinot Noirs of recent memory, this wonderfully deep, broadly fruited wine sets the bar of achievement at a dizzying height. Winning very high marks for both its fruity precision and carefully crafting, it is on the one hand enveloping and easy to access and, on the other, a layered and very sophisticated opus. We can only guess that it will become even better over time because it is a show-stopping glassful right now, and its very keen balance absolutely insures that it has much life ahead of it." Bid on this bottle of 2003 Rauzan-Segla, Margaux (95JS, 94WE, 92WS, 91RP). James Suckling: "What a decadent nose, with strawberry pie, cream, vanilla, and exotic fruits. Almost new world in style. Full and round, with minty, bright fruits on the palate. Long and wonderful, exciting and fresh. A real beauty. Closes down a little bit, but this is still a big surprise. Pull the cork after 2015." Wine Enthusiast: "Displays distinct valley-floor qualities, with its well-ripened black-currant fruit and soft, intricately woven tannins. Feels rich and lush in the mouth, and coats the palate through the long finish. Oak provides a context, but doesn’t overwhelm." (12/2002)

2005 Bodegas El Nido "Clio" Jumilla
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Bodegas El Nido "Clio" Jumilla. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Clio, composed of 70% old-vine Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, is opaque purple-colored with an enthralling bouquet of pain grille, spice box, violets, espresso, blueberry, and blackberry. Layered, opulent, and full-flavored, this thick wine has superb concentration and balance. It will evolve for 6-8 years and drink well through 2025. The winemaking at the El Nido project is overseen by renowned Australian vigneron Chris Ringland. After a meticulous selection process, the grapes are basket pressed and fermented in oak. 1998 Alion, Ribera del Duero
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Alion, Ribera del Duero (91ST, 90WS). 91 points Stephen Tanzer: "Bright medium ruby. Sexy aromas of cassis, black raspberry, mocha, cocoa powder, game and minerals. Densely packed but juicy; a very stylish wine with a lovely light touch thanks to perfectly integrated acidity. Still quite penetrating and youthfully unevolved. Finishes very long and subtle, with terrific grip. A strong effort." (Nov/Dec 2001) Robert Parker: "The deep purple-colored 1998 exhibits aromas of leather, licorice, smoke, and black fruits." (02/2003) 90 points The Wine Spectator: "This muscular red offers coffee, mineral and plum flavors wrapped in a blanket of ripe but firm tannins. Not giving much now, but it has concentration and balance, and it should age well. " (11/2002)

2012 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Tablas" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Tablas" Paso Robles Rhône Blend ((93-95AG), (91-93RP), (92-93ST)). Antonio Galloni: "A big, explosive wine, the 2012 Esprit de Tablas is warm and ample on the palate, very much in the style of the year, yet there is plenty of power lying in reserve. In 2012, Syrah plays a larger role than in both the 2010 and 2011, which is felt in the wine broad, expansive personality. This is going to be a fascinating Esprit to follow over the coming years."
