1996 Lagrange, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Lagrange, St-Julien (93ST, 91WS, 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium ruby. Highly complex aromas of blackberry, violet pastille, eucalyptus, leather and game. Wonderfully sweet but with terrific grip, even a touch of youthful austerity. Very classy, subtle wine with terrific inner-mouth energy. Builds very slowly on the back half, finishing with noble, fine-grained tannins and terrific grip. This makes the 1995 seem almost cooked by comparison. Still needs at least five or six years of cellaring. 'We always had unusual tastes in this wine, like eucalyptus and menthol, due to the cool September nights,' noted Ducasse. 93(+?) points." (09/2004)

Wine Enthusiast: " ** Editors' Choice ** A wonderfully firm, concentrated wine that walks a fine, balanced line between richness and poised structure. It is classic in the best sense, showing all the shape of a fine Bordeaux, while adding the extra dimension of the freshest of black fruits, complexity from a few hints of wood, and a dark, brooding, long-lasting aftertaste." Wine Enthusiast: " *Cellar Selection* The high proportion of Merlot in Pichon Lalande is a good reason why this wine, among the great wines of Pauillac, is always so seductive. This is no exception; it charms as well as excites with vibrant fruits as well as serious, dense tannins and acidity that promise good aging. Give it 7-9 years for full maturity to begin." 2002 Palmer, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Palmer, Margaux (94RP, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A successful wine for the vintage, this blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 8% Petit Verdot boasts complex notes of menthol, black currants, plums, licorice, and a hint of cappuccino in its stunning aromatics. Dense, medium to full-bodied, with high levels of tannin in a big, full-bodied style (much in the spirit of such classic Bordeaux vintages as 1966, 1986, and 1996), this wine possesses superb purity and serious length, but should be purchased only by those with considerable patience and a good, cold cellar, since it will need plenty of time. 2000 Chateau de Pibarnon Bandol
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2000 Chateau de Pibarnon Bandol. Chateau Pibarnon is home to the highest slopes in the Bandol, with some of the most unique soil: its Triassic limestone, a great asset in regulating the flow of water to the vineyard, is 150 years older than the soil in the rest of the appellation. The 2000 vintage was excellent, with a rainy winter and a dry summer. From the website: "Very youthful aromas of cassis, black raspberry, married with light spices, black peppercorns and tobacco, the mixture of which is refreshed by notes of mint. Fat mouth with lots of amplitude, refined and velvet tannins, long finish. Very well balanced."

1999 Bernard Burgaud Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Bernard Burgaud Côte-Rôtie (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Cote Rotie will rival the finest Burgaud has produced. An opaque ruby/purple color is followed by a tight but blossoming bouquet of blackberries, hickory smoke, damp earth, underbrush, and licorice. The wine is full-bodied, chewy, thick, but civilized. This inky, powerful, full-throttle 1999 possesses plenty of tannin, and enough acidity to provide definition. However, patience will be required. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2016. (RP)" (04/2002)

Of the 1998 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Very good deep red. Jammy aromas of surmaturite: raspberry liqueur, cherry cough syrup, roasted game, roast coffee and mocha. Large-scaled and impressive on the attack, then rich, very concentrated and mouthfilling in the middle. Big, thick and layered; a bit unrefined next to the '99 normale, but at the same time more traditional and less exaggerated-more crunchy-than the extravagant '98 Vieilles Vignes. Starting out reticent on the nose, with ripe blackberry fruit, ground pepper, dried flowers and beef blood-like subtleties, it knocks it out of the park on the palate and has full-bodied richness, beautiful density and a savory finish. 1986 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1986 Margaux, Margaux (98AG, 98RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A magnificent example of Chateau Margaux and one of the most tannic, backward Margauxs of the last 50 years, the 1986 continues to evolve at a glacial pace. The color is still a dense ruby/purple with just a hint of lightening at the rim. With several hours of aeration, the aromatics become striking, with notes of smoke, toast, creme de cassis, mineral, and white flowers. Very full-bodied, with high but sweet tannin, great purity, and a very masculine, full-bodied style, this wine should prove nearly immortal in terms of its aging potential. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Pierre Usseglio "Reserve des Deux Freres" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 95ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The perfect 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres is slightly more evolved and complex than the Mon Aieul, as odd as that seems. Having had it twice out of bottle, this wine (nearly 100% Grenache combined with a few dollops of Syrah) possesses an opaque ruby/purple color as well as a thrilling texture and monumental length (the finish lasts over 60 seconds). it's a blockbuster, but everything is in perfect balance, and, remarkably, it comes across as the most accessible Reserve des Deux Freres made to date. This wine's aging is completely different from its sibling-s. Sixty percent is aged in 1, 2, and 3-year-old Burgundy barrels, and the rest in small new oak barrels, but there is not a hint of new oak in the aromatics. The bouquet reveals plenty of blackberry, blueberry, and cassis fruit intertwined with notions of melted licor

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Ausone, St-Emilion (98W&S, 95WS, 94RP, 93ST). Wine & Spirits: "Tasted from barrel in 2005, this was among the best wines of the vintage, with limestone-soil character coming through the fresh brightness of fruit. Ausone was all potential energy then, and it has only improved in the two years since. The wine shares the resonant depths of the ancient limestone caves at Ausone, as the flavors echo through the finish. It starts off from a small place, a sweet confection that brings roasted blueberries to mind, the caramelized oak tasting like the edge of charred fat on extremely fine grilled beef. Over the course of several days, the wine becomes increasingly more subtle and serious in tone, with delicate red fruit, gracious mineral-inflected tannins and detailed flavors that last effortlessly. This Ausone will live for decades." (10/2007)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Wonderfully elegant fruit with extremely fine, minerally flavors yet they are quite dense and concentrated. The sève here is simply incredible. This departs from the Leroy style in that this does not offer the same level of richness as the other wines here but this is piercing in its flavor precision." (01/2001)

1986 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this bottle of 1986 d'Yquem, Sauternes (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is no other wine in the world like it, and there is no other luxury wine that can possibly justify its price as much as Yquem. The remarkable amount of painstaking labor necessary to produce the nectar known as Yquem is almost impossible to comprehend. This is a fascinating effort. With greater evidence of botrytis than the colossal 1983, but less power and alcohol, the 1986 Yquem tastes reminiscent of the 1975, only more precocious, as well as more concentrated. Several highly respected Bordeaux negociants who are Yquem enthusiasts claim the 1986 Yquem is the greatest wine produced at the property since the legendary 1937. Its enthralling bouquet of pineapples, sauteed hazelnuts, vanillin, and ripe apricots is breathtaking. Compellingly concentrated, the breadth as well as depth of flavor seemingly know no limits. This full-bodied, powerful, yet impeccably balanced Yquem should provide memorabl

1990 Moët & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Moët & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (98RP, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium lemon-straw colour. Intensely fragrant nose with aromas of jasmine, cinnamon buttered toast, stewed apples and preserved ginger. Concentrated honey-nut, warm apple tart and spice flavours fill the mouth giving ample flesh to the firm, fine structure. The bubbles are still remarkably frisky and, in harmony with the crisp backbone of acid, make for a relatively youthful, elegant and exquisitely balanced wine. Very long finish. (LPB)" (03/2009)

2007 Sylvain Cathiard Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru "Aux Murgers"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Sylvain Cathiard Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru "Aux Murgers" (93RP, (89-92ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I recall this 2007 Nuits Saint Georges aux Murger being delicious from barrel. With a half a dozen years or so in bottle, it is dutifully blossoming into one beautiful Pinot Noir. Youthful in color, the nose attests to the relatively high proportion of new oak, although it is sutured into the fruit profile of mulberry, yellow plum and crushed strawberries all well-defined. The palate has the weight of a more precocious vintage, although part of that emanates from the oak. You could describe it as a modern style of Burgundy, but one adroitly pulled off, with a silky and harmonious finish with not a hard edge in sight. This superb wine is drinking beautifully now, but it should keep for another ten years. Drink now-2024. Tasted January 2014." (04/2014)

2005 Lascombes, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Lascombes, Margaux (95RP, 94W&S, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A gorgeous example of Lascombes, the 2005, a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, continues the remarkable turn-around in quality that began five years ago. A stunningly opulent wine with a dense purple color, the 2005 possesses a beautiful perfume of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, creosote, and graphite, full body, silky but noticeable tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and a stunning, 45+-second finish. This is a brilliant, modern-styled Margaux that should age for 30-35 years." (04/2008)

1966 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1966 Montrose, St-Estèphe. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1966 is still dark ruby with a peppery, very spice, yet tight, relatively closed bouquet. The wine is austere and tough on the palate, with good fruit and firm, rough tannins. Comparatively, it is not as massive or as rich as the 1970, 1964, or 1961, but is still backward and austere. Will the fruit hold up to the tannins? Anticipated maturity: Now-2005. Last tasted, 1/90." (01/1998)

1989 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Margaux, Margaux (97WS, 90RP). Wine Spectator: "This is about as alluring as it gets aromatically, with singed alder, juniper, bay and charcoal notes out front, hinting at power but turning beguiling as they flow into the core of steeped red currant, dried currant and black tea. The charcoal note makes an encore, with a lovely twinge of old-school character holding the finish. Always a great debate vis-à-vis the '90, but the slightly darker profile here gives this wine a lovely bit of extra drama. (Web-2014)"

1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (stained labels) (98RP, 96ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A massive wine that is clearly of first-growth quality in this vintage, the 1982 Gruaud Larose remains a youngster. A broodingly dense, thick, unctuously textured, inky/plum/garnet/purple color offers up scents of beef blood, steak tartare, cassis, herbs, tobacco, and underbrush. One of the most concentrated wines of the vintage (as well as one of the most concentrated Bordeaux’s I have ever tasted), it is a huge, full-bodied, weighty, rich wine whose tannins are getting silkier and silkier. It appears set for another 30-40 years of life. This behemoth is a singularly profound example of Gruaud Larose that continues to justify its legendary status. (RP)" (06/2009)

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((92-94BH), (93-94RP), 92ST). 92-94 Burghound: "A more deeply pitched nose of cool and reserved red and black cherry aromas that are quite fresh and pure and are laced more with warm earth than stone though both are present. The focused and detailed broad-shouldered flavors are blessed with ample dry extract that cuts a bit of the austerity on the linear, serious, mouth coating and hugely long finish. As is often the case, this is notably more somber than the Amoureuses and trades elegance for power and muscle."
