2004 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune-Grèves 1er Cru "Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune-Grèves 1er Cru "Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus" (92BH, 90ST, 90WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " **Sweet spot Outstanding!** Fans of this wine will notice a good deal more wood influence than normal but the good news is that it appears to also possess the requisite stuffing to successfully integrate it with time in bottle. The nose is earthy but fresh with excellent density and volume, culminating in an explosively powerful finish. More importantly for a firmly structured wine like this, the supporting tannins are ripe and this too should reward extended cellaring." (04/2006)

Deep aromas of kirsch, smoke, minerals, flowers and earth are reticent but pure. Big, rich and broad, with harmonious acidity framing the black cherry, chocolate and leather flavors. This classic, complete Beaune wine spreads out to saturate the palate, with lush tannins reaching the front teeth. Quite thick in the style of the vintage but without any excess weight." (01/2011)

Of the 2005 Bernard Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru "Chenevottes",Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "A complex and nuanced nose featuring aromas of resin, earth, fresh and dried herbs plus a touch of toast dissolves into rich, full and textured flavors that are sufficiently concentrated that this has an almost chewy quality on the impressively long finish. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Wonderfully elegant fruit with extremely fine, minerally flavors yet they are quite dense and concentrated. The sève here is simply incredible. This departs from the Leroy style in that this does not offer the same level of richness as the other wines here but this is piercing in its flavor precision." (01/2001)

2007 Sylvain Cathiard Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru "Aux Murgers"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Sylvain Cathiard Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru "Aux Murgers" (93RP, (89-92ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I recall this 2007 Nuits Saint Georges aux Murger being delicious from barrel. With a half a dozen years or so in bottle, it is dutifully blossoming into one beautiful Pinot Noir. Youthful in color, the nose attests to the relatively high proportion of new oak, although it is sutured into the fruit profile of mulberry, yellow plum and crushed strawberries all well-defined. The palate has the weight of a more precocious vintage, although part of that emanates from the oak. You could describe it as a modern style of Burgundy, but one adroitly pulled off, with a silky and harmonious finish with not a hard edge in sight. This superb wine is drinking beautifully now, but it should keep for another ten years. Drink now-2024. Tasted January 2014." (04/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((92-94BH), (93-94RP), 92ST). 92-94 Burghound: "A more deeply pitched nose of cool and reserved red and black cherry aromas that are quite fresh and pure and are laced more with warm earth than stone though both are present. The focused and detailed broad-shouldered flavors are blessed with ample dry extract that cuts a bit of the austerity on the linear, serious, mouth coating and hugely long finish. As is often the case, this is notably more somber than the Amoureuses and trades elegance for power and muscle."

1966 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1966 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg Grand Cru (94AG, 94BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Completely bricked though but not browning. Fantastically complex, warm, generous and remarkably intense aromas that are still floral introduce wonderfully rich, equally intense mouth coating flavors of superb length. This is very classy juice offering impressive depth and a classic Richebourg drinking experience. There is the barest trace of finishing rusticity though the tannins are clearly finer than either the Ech, Grands Ech or RSV. This has always been one of my favorite vintages for DRC's Richebourg and this bottle was in perfect condition. An outstanding wine that is drinking perfectly. Several examples tasted though with variable results. The bottle reviewed here is the best of any that I have tried but in general, the notes are very consistent." (11/2009)

2002 Denis Bachelet Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes"
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Denis Bachelet Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes" (93BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is still displaying plenty of wood spice and while it by no means dominates the otherwise spicy black currant, earth and ever-so-slightly sauvage suffused nose, it is not subtle either. There is lovely richness and a refined texture to the medium-bodied and solidly concentrated flavors that possess focused power and excellent depth on the impressively long and beautifully balanced finale. This is one of those wines that one either loves or not as I very much like the overall complexity and the sheer depth of material is remarkable. That said the wood is sufficiently apparent that it may cause some to enjoy the wine less and for my taste it is more than I personally care for; still, there can be no doubt that this is a very high quality effort. In terms of drinkability the '02 Charmes is approaching its peak though it should hold effortlessly for years to com

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Etienne Sauzet Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (95BH, 95RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Batard-Montrachet reveals considerable body and heft in its exuberant fruit. This is all about fruit, textural richness and sheer depth. The aromas and flavors build impressively towards the explosive finish. At the same time, there are elements of restraint that add balance. The Batard needs a few years in bottle to settle down, but it is a big wine and is likely to always speak with a certain amount of gravitas. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Leflaive Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "It seems as though it's no longer a matter of whether the '04 BBM is reduced but just how reduced and this latest bottle was seriously reduced, indeed to the point where it completely dominated the nose. Other bottles certainly have displayed some but not completely at the expense of the hallmark honeysuckle aromas. The tight, and still quite backward, vibrant medium-bodied plus flavors possess real richness, volume and more structure than I typically find yet the balance is absolutely impeccable. The vibrancy and energy here are most impressive but one has to begin to wonder if the reduction hasn't become permanent? If it has it won't make the wine unpleasant but it will deprive of us of the enjoyment of the nose. In view of this potential difficulty (especially since it appears to be the case with the '04 Clavoillons - see herein), I have lowered my score somew

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A strikingly complex nose offers up notes of dried rose petal, exotic spices, tea, earth and very ripe red pinot fruit that merges into rich, full and wonderfully precise medium full-bodied flavors that possess impeccable balance and length that goes on and on. A smaller version of the Musigny and built to age almost as well." (01/2008)

2005 Domaine Reyane & Pascal Bouley Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Chênes"
Bid on this 10-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Reyane & Pascal Bouley Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Chênes" (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Outstanding* More deeply pitched aromas that combine pungent earth, spice and a beautiful mix of notably ripe red, blue and black berry fruits. The equally ripe, earthy and complex medium full flavors offer excellent power and punch with a velvety finish and outstanding length. This is a big wine, even for Clos des Chênes yet it remains elegant, balanced and wonderfully pure. In short, this is a stunner and built to age but again like the Robardelle, note that it is beginning to shut down and will need plenty of time before it blossoms again." (04/2008)

2002 Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Ducs"
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Ducs" (93BH, 92RP, 92ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Even after 10 years this remains almost as primary as when it was bottled as there are no secondary hints in evidence on the elegant and pure red berry fruit and stone-infused nose. The detailed, intense and strongly mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors possess a sophisticated mouth feel while coating the palate with dry extract. There is a noticeably firm acid spine on the moderately austere and gorgeously persistent finish. This is a distinctly understated vintage for Clos des Ducs that seems to be evolving at a glacially slow pace...As d'Angerville suggests, these '02s are brilliantly balanced and while they may not last quite as long as the more structured '99s, they are genuinely stunning wines. Of the 2002 Pousse d' Or Volnay "Caillerets",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Bright ruby-red. Noble, nuanced nose combines cherry, smoke, minerals, fresh herbs and mint; with aeration, this showed hints of superripeness. Sweeter and fuller than the Santenay samples but quite light on its feet, with no loss of flavor precision. Finishes with firm but fine tannins, dusty minerality and a late hint of kirsch." Of the 2005 Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “Vergers-Clos St.-Marc”,Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "* Sweet spot Outstanding * While the nose here cannot match that of the Caillerets for sheer elegance, it more than matches it for sheer quality of material and power. A pure and complex middle register nose blends floral and yellow fruit notes that continue on the big, rich and super intense full-on flavors supported by a seriously impressive amount of

2004 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (95ST, 93BH, 92WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale, bright color. A quintessence of Corton-Charlemagne dirt on the nose: stone fruits, lemon, iodine, ginger, minerals and mint, all complicated by a musky, leesy note that reminded me of a Coche-Dury wine. Then compellingly dense and penetrating in the mouth, with captivating, soil-driven flavors of raw pineapple, white peach, white flowers and crushed rock; a sulfidey complexity and a saline element add to the wine's spectacular subtle complexity. Hardly a blockbuster but conveys an impression of great solidity. This remarkably precise wine coats the palate with dusty stone and leaves behind a suggestion of honey. My sample at Bouchard in early June was painfully young and closed though obviously outstanding, but this bottle, tasted in New York in August, was spectacular. (ST)" (10/2006)

This is a relatively light weight wine but one that is focused and delivers plenty of flavor authority."

Of the 2002 Comtes des Lafon Volnay 1er Cru “Champans”,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The medium-bodied 2002 Volnay Champans offers a nose of violets, roses, and black cherries. Deep, intense, and concentrated, its personality is crammed with resiny cherries as well as jammy blackberries. This flavorful, sweet wine is a candidate for drinking between 2007 and 2017. Bid on this bottle of 1993 Domaine A&F Gros Clos Vougeot Grand Cru "Le Grand Maupertuis" (93BH, 92WS, 90RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " This is just as complex as it always was but has now turned entirely secondary though there is no sous bois in evidence. This is a powerful and very dense example of the vineyard with the hallmark minerality of a fine Grand Maupertuis, all wrapped in a velvety, long and seductively textured finish where all of the depth of the nose is captured yet again. This is terrific and has arrived at its peak though note that it should hold here easily for at least another decade, perhaps longer." (12/2012)

1993 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St. Jacques"
Bid on this bottle of 1993 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St. Jacques" . Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Jadot, who has important holdings in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, is increasingly becoming one of that appellation's most important high-quality producers. All of the 1993 Gevrey-Chambertins I tasted were tannic wines, with the better examples exhibiting more ripeness and sweetness to hopefully complement their firmness and structure. The Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.-Jacques is sterner, tougher, and more tannic than the Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles St.-Jacques. Although this is usually one of my favorite wines from the Jadot portfolio, I found this austere wine to be reminiscent of some 1975 Bordeaux - too tannic. While it possesses deep fruit, the wine's leanness raises suspicions about how well it will evolve. It is a serious, ambitiously constructed wine, but will the fruit be there in 10-15 years?" 2008 Domaine Denis Bachelet Côte de Nuits-Villages
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Denis Bachelet Côte de Nuits-Villages. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Expressive aromas of blackberry, iron and menthol, lifted by a minty nuance. Juicy and brisk, with bright acidity framing the redcurrant, spice and herb flavors. Finishes precise and persistent, with a saline note. Denis Bachelet noted that the 2008s are more open today than they were just after the early spring bottling, but I'd give this a couple years of aging before pulling the cork." (03/2011)
