2011 Sine Qua Non "Dark Blossom" Tasting Lot
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Sine Qua Non "Dark Blossom" Tasting Lot, including 3-bottles of 2011 Sine Qua Non "Dark Blossom" Grenache (97AG, 97RP, 97ST) and 3-bottles of 2011 Sine Qua Non "Dark Blossom" California Syrah (99RP, 96AG, (94-95ST)). Of the 2011 Sine Qua Non "Dark Blossom" California Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2011 Syrah Dark Blossom showed even better from bottle than barrel. A blend of 84% Syrah, 8% Grenache, 4% Petite Sirah and the rest Roussanne and Petite Manseng, this beauty was fermented with 17% whole clusters and aged in equal parts new and used French oak. One of the shining successes in the vintage, it’s a full-bodied, concentrated and layered Syrah that has awesome aromatics of blackcurrants, Peking duck, pepper, licorice and charcuterie in its seamless, thrillingly pure profile. As with Manfred’s other 2011s, the tannins are certainly present, yet they’re sweet, polished and have no hard edges. Give this beauty 2-3 years in the cellar

1999 Domaine des Remizieres Hermitage "Cuvee Emilie"
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1999 Domaine des Remizieres Hermitage "Cuvee Emilie" (96RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Philippe Desmeures's 1999 Hermitage Cuvee Emilie rouge (1,000 cases) is a candidate for the "Hermitage of the vintage." About 70% of the grapes for this cuvee emerge from old vines located in L'Hermite (on the crown of the great dome of Hermitage) and the remainder from Les Rocoules. This extraordinarily intense offering boasts an opaque black/purple color (reminiscent of a cult Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa) as well as a sumptuous nose of sweet blackberry liqueur intermixed with espresso, licorice, tobacco, minerals, and toast. There is massive flavor concentration, multiple layers, full body, purity, and beautifully integrated acidity and tannin. This compelling Hermitage should evolve for three decades. (RP)" (04/2002)

1999 Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie (95RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest Cote Roties Ogier has made (and he agrees) are the 1999s. The fabulous, opaque purple-colored 1999 Cote Rotie, which spent two years in wood (30% new), reveals a glorious bouquet of bacon fat, creme de cassis, licorice, violets, and spice box. It is full-bodied, with sweet tannin, great presence in the mouth, and a knock-out finish. Although it will be approachable in its youth, 3-4 more years of cellaring will be beneficial. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2018. Michel Ogier and his son, Stephane, are producing spectacular wines. The only problem is that production is small. As I indicated last year, Ogier's 1999s are magical. (RP)" (04/2002)

2011 Saxum "Bone Rock—James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Saxum "Bone Rock—James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (98RP, 97AG, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Decidedly cool climate in character, the 2011 James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock comes from steep, terraced plots of old head trained Syrah vines that, in 2011, wasn’t harvested until November. Co-fermented with a splash of Roussanne and Mourvedre, it’s a spectacular effort that makes the most of the cool, long growing season. It’s also the most long term prospect in the lineup. Offering up a tight, Cornas-like bouquet of black and blue fruits, white pepper, spring flowers and salty minerality, it is full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and seamless on the palate, with ultra-fine tannin and building richness that only starts to develop with a healthy decant. It’s a gorgeous wine, yet needs to be forgotten for at least 4-5 years. It should drink nicely through 2031. (JD)" (08/2014)

Of the 2003 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The sensational 2003 Syrah Reva Vineyard may be the finest example of this cuvée Alban has yet produced. Nearly endless depth as well as an extraordinarily flamboyant bouquet of blackberries, truffles, acacia flowers, and sweet tar emerge from this broad, opulent, full-bodied, incredibly rich Syrah. Antonio Galloni: "The Araujo and Colgin Syrahs had something in common in that they were first and foremost wines of place. Along similar lines, 2009 Colgin's Syrah from IX Estate on Pritchard Hill, was very much defined by a hillside sense of structure. (Antonio Galloni)" (06/2013)

Rita Hills Grenache (100RP, 96AG, 94ST) and 3-bottles of 2010 Sine Qua Non "Stockholm Syndrome" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 97AG). Of the 2010 Sine Qua Non "Stockholm Syndrome" Sta. Rita Hills Grenache,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: " The current release of the estate vineyard (a.k.a. the extended barrel-aged cuvee), the 2010 Grenache Stockholm Syndrome is an incredible effort that I couldn’t find a fault with. A blend of 75% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 2% Roussanne and 1% Viognier, all from the Eleven Confession Vineyard, it spent just under 30 months in 22% new and 78% used French oak prior to bottling. Locked and loaded, it knocks it out of the park with its cassis, licorice, smoked duck, spice-box and exotic herb-styled bouquet. The palate follows suit and while it has the expected depth and richness of the estate

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (OWC - (97-100RP)) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A new wine for 2012, the 2012 Syrah Sur Echalas Vineyard (same vineyard as the Grenache, and located just beside the Cayuse estate and the Armada Vineyard) is a stunning example of the quality coming from these rocky soils around Milton Freewater. Offering incredible notes of pepper, bacon fat, steak tartare, olive paste and deep, savory dark fruit, this full-bodied barrel sample has fabulous concentration, beautiful purity and a blockbuster finish. It too will have an easy 15 years or more of ultimate longevity. (JD)" (06/2014)

2006 Alban "Seymour's Vineyard" Edna Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Alban "Seymour's Vineyard" Edna Valley Syrah (98RP, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The succession of prodigious Syrahs continues with the 2006 Syrah Seymour’s Vineyard (named after John Alban’s father). An infant in terms of development, it exhibits a smoky meatiness along with a forest floor character as well as its siblings’ colossal level of concentration, enormous, multilayered texture, and skyscraper-like mouthfeel. Remarkably, there is no sense of heaviness. Another tour de force in Central Coast Syrah, it should drink well for 30-40 years. (98+)" (08/2009)

1999 Bernard Burgaud Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Bernard Burgaud Côte-Rôtie (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Cote Rotie will rival the finest Burgaud has produced. An opaque ruby/purple color is followed by a tight but blossoming bouquet of blackberries, hickory smoke, damp earth, underbrush, and licorice. The wine is full-bodied, chewy, thick, but civilized. This inky, powerful, full-throttle 1999 possesses plenty of tannin, and enough acidity to provide definition. However, patience will be required. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2016. (RP)" (04/2002)

An outstanding effort, it boasts a dark ruby/purple color, and sweet cassis flavors nicely dosed with subtle oak. Licorice, truffle, mineral, and spice notions are also apparent in this impressively endowed wine's full-bodied flavors. It possesses moderate but sweet tannin. Although accessible, it will evolve for 15 or more years. (RP)" (10/1999)

2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah ((97-99RP), (94-96AG)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Syrah releases started with the 2012 Syrah Stock. Coming mostly from the Eleven Confessions vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, it also has portions from Cumulus, The Third Twin and White Hawk. Made from 84% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Petite Sirah, 2% Viognier and the rest Mourvedre, it spent 20 months (it’s not yet bottled) in 52% new French oak. Showing the purity and suppleness of the vintage, yet with no lack of concentration, depth or richness, it gives up fabulous cassis, black raspberry, smoked meats and violet-like aromas and flavors that continue to change in the glass. In short, it’s a rock-star Syrah that could come from nowhere else. It should be approachable on release and evolve gracefully for two decades or more. (JD)" (08/2014)

2007 Foxen "Toasted Rope" Santa Ynez Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Foxen "Toasted Rope" Santa Ynez Valley Syrah (94RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Syrah Toasted Rope is a Marcel Guigal-like blend of 86% Syrah and 14% Viognier. (Guigal’s famous single-vineyard La Mouline Cote Rotie is a blend of 89% Syrah and 11% Viognier, give or take a few percentage points one way or the other depending on the vintage.) Dedicated to Andrew Murray, as the source of the Syrah and Viognier was planted by him in the early 1990s, the wine has a dark ruby/purple color and an exotic nose of lychee, apricot, and spring flowers, with the Syrah component offering up black cherry, blackberry, and spice. Almost off-the-charts complexity in the perfume is followed by a silky-textured, voluptuously built wine with loads of fruit, velvety tannins, and undeniable appeal. The Viognier clearly adds an element of complexity and suppleness that makes the wine individualistic." (08/2010)

Wine Enthusiast: "**Top 100 Cellar Selections 2011** The only one of the Cayuse Syrahs that is co-fermented with Viognier, this opens with a stunning, floral bouquet, showing extraordinary depth and texture. The wine has a floral top, a thickly fruity middle and a base with smoke, rock and meat. Still very young, it is already a complete, fully-realized, near-perfect wine with a finish that extends for many minutes. This should age for 25 –30 years. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Glaetzer "Godolphin" Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley South Australia ((96-98RP), 95JH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This nearly perfect wine, made from 70% Shiraz (105- to 115-year-old vines) and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon (60- to 90-year-old vines), was cropped at a minuscule .5 to 1 ton of fruit per acre, and spent 15 months in French oak prior to bottling. Its gorgeously sweet, pure nose of crushed rocks, blueberries, cassis, and minerals soars from the glass. Floral-like black and blue fruits, an inky/purple color, and nearly endless depth and persistence on the palate are the stuff of legends. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Syrah Armada Vineyard (100%) was aged in Rostaing puncheons, one of them new, for 30 months. Aromatically, it is the most brooding and Cote-Rotie-like of these Syrahs with notes of smoke, meat, game, garrigue, lavender, and blueberry. The most tightly wound of the Syrahs, it is the one that will most profit from several years of cellaring. It should offer prime drinking from 2014 to 2027. (JM)" (08/2010)

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Sine Qua Non "This Is Not An Exit" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (97RP, 95ST, 95WS, 94AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An extended barrel-aged release, the 2009 Syrah This Is Not An Exit is 100% from the Santa Rita Hills Eleven Confessions Vineyard and checks in as a blend of 80% Syrah, 12% Grenache, 7% Roussanne and 1% Viognier that saw 41.5 months in 65% new French oak. Slightly exotic, with notions of kirsch, flower oil, smoked meats, licorice and graphite, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, loads of fruit and a blockbuster finish. Bid on this 1.5 liter 1-bottle lot of 2002 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage (1.5L) (91RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As extraordinary as the 2003s are, I was also blown away by the 2002s produced by Chapoutier, some of which are among the top wines of this challenging vintage. As I have said so many times over the last 15 years, the top Chapoutier wines are meant for very long term drinking, and are not designed for immediate gratification. Everything Chapoutier is doing, from his bio-dynamically farmed vineyard to tiny yields, extended fermentations, indigenous yeasts, and no fining or filtration, is done to produce the essence of a vineyard and a vintage. His track record since 1989 and 1990 admirably proves that these are indeed remarkable wines made by a young genius who refuses to compromise. Michel Chapoutier has been misunderstood by some of his peers, and there is a lot of jealousy when someone this young is so incredibly talented, but it is an irrefutable fact

2010 Charles Smith "Royal City" Coumbia Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Charles Smith "Royal City" Coumbia Valley Syrah (99RP, 97WE, 97WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the top Syrahs out there, the 2010 Syrah Charles Smith Royal City is a 100% Syrah from the Stoneridge Vineyard, which was first planted in 2001, and consists of big stones and broken limestone soils. Borderline perfection (and I seriously considered rating it a point higher), it oozes incredible aromas and flavors of smoked herbs, olive, underbrush, game and copious black fruits. This is followed by a full-bodied, decadent, yet beautifully precise wine that doesn’t come anywhere close to being over the top. A wine that makes my heart rate increase, this awesome Syrah is worth the effort to track down! It should hit full stride around age five or six and have 15-20 years of total longevity. Don’t miss it! Drink 2015-2030. (JD) " (06/2013)

2005 Thierry-Allemand Cornas "Reynard"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Thierry-Allemand Cornas "Reynard" (96WS, 95ST). Wine Spectator: "Densely packed, with tar, olive and maduro tobacco notes up front, holding the massive core of braised fig, plum sauce and tar at bay for now. The muscular finish shows flashes of iron, garrigue and graphite. Very, very long. Best from 2011 through 2024." (02/2009)

2006 Mollydooker "Carnival of Love" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Mollydooker "Carnival of Love" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (97RP, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Shiraz 'Carnival of Love' was sourced from a single vineyard. The sensational nose, consisting of violets, lilacs, meat, game, leather, blueberry, and chocolate, leaps from the glass. On the palate this full-bodied wine somehow manages to combine power with elegance. The sweet tannins are well-concealed and the finish lasts for at least one minute. It will provide pleasure for 25 years but who will be that patient? (JM)" (10/2007)

2005 Lillian Central Coast Syrah
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2005 Lillian Central Coast Syrah (92RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Lillian 2005 Syrah exhibits a beautiful deep ruby/purple hue in addition to a sweet bouquet of flowers, black currants, forest floor, and subtle road tar. Full-bodied and gorgeously textured with terrific fruit purity, outstanding depth, and an impeccably well-balanced, savory mouthfeel with no hard edges, this beautiful Syrah can be drunk now or cellared for another 7-10 years. 2012 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhone Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhone Blend ((97-99RP), (91-94AG), 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better, and up with the top 2-3 wines in the vintage, the 2012 Booker Vineyard is a blend of 73% Syrah and 27% Mourvedre that saw 30% whole clusters during fermentation and aging in 60% new 350-liter French oak hogsheads. Possessing an insane level of purity and focus, with liquid violets, white chocolate, ground pepper, spice and licorice-laced dark fruit all soaring from the glass, this is a decidedly fresh, focused and elegant example of the vineyard. Nevertheless, it doesn’t skimp on fruit or texture and has awesome depth, richness and length. Like most of these 2012s, it should benefit from short-term cellaring, and knock your socks off over the following decade. " (08/2014)

2006 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah (100RP, 97WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Syrah Reva, coming from parcels of dark, volcanic soil, has off-the-chart richness and intensity. This thick, opaque-purple colored wine offers up notes of scorched earth, ground pepper, and blackberry liqueur intermixed with cassis, licorice, camphor, and tar. The wine is spectacular in every sense. Full-bodied and certainly not for wimps, this is a remarkably concentrated yet very nuanced and intense wine that should age for 20 more years." (08/2010)

2011 No Girls "La Paciencia Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 No Girls "La Paciencia Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (95RP, 94WE, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In the same mold, with the buzzwords being finesse and elegance, the 2011 Syrah La Paciencia Vineyard offers textbook pepper, olive tapenade, smoke and crunchy berry fruits in its medium to full-bodied, seamless and beautifully textured profile. Showing impressive complexity and already hard to resist, I-d lean towards drinking bottles over the coming decade as well. Distinctly different from both the Cayuse and Horsepower releases, winemaker Elizabeth Bourcier continues to fine-tune these No Girls releases and they always show a perfumed, lively style that-s hard to resist. They all come from the La Paciencia Vineyard, which is located in The Rocks around the town of Milton-Freewater, and all of the wines see only neutral oak. (JD)" (06/2014)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Copain "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (96RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a superb site, the blockbuster 2007 Syrah James Berry Vineyard boasts an opaque purple color in addition to extraordinary aromas of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, blackberries, pepper, and bouquet garni, a fabulous texture, and a finish that lasts for 50+ seconds. This amazing Syrah should drink well for 10-15+ years. (RP)" (02/2010)

2005 Greenock Creek "Alices" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Greenock Creek "Alices" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (96RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Alice's Shiraz spent 28 months in seasoned American oak hogsheads. Aromas of smoke, asphalt, meat, game, truffle, and blueberry soar from the glass. On the palate this full-bodied Shiraz is velvety-textured, layered, spicy, and richly fruity. While not quite as riveting as the 2004 edition, it has enough structure to evolve for several years and should drink well through 2025. Greenock Creek Vineyard & Cellars, owned by Michael and Annabelle Waugh, remains one of South Australia's iconic wineries. Start with a great terroir, add in old vine material and meticulous winemaking, and end with extraordinary results. (JM)" (02/2009)

2006 Charles Smith "Royal City" Washington State Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Charles Smith "Royal City" Washington State Syrah (100WE, 98RP, 97WS). Wine Enthusiast: "In 2005 Charles Smith introduced three high-end Syrahs. In 2006 Smith has made a wine better than each of these, by combining them into a single wine—Royal City Syrah. Rich scents of purple fruit, smoked meat, cedar, lead pencil, moist earth and so on proclaim a wine with genuine gravitas. There is nothing missing, from the first sniff to the last sip, the wine delivers on all levels. Complex, beautifully balanced, powerful and detailed. " (12/2009)
