2012 Trimbach Gewürztraminer

90 points Wine Spectator: "Verbena and pine forest hints lace this dry, well-cut white, while smoky minerality underscores flavors of melon, dried apricot, pink grapefruit and beeswax. Spiced finish. Drink now through 2024. 3,500 cases imported. –AN" (11/2014) Antonio Galloni: "Pale straw with a light gold tinge. Notes of smoky bacon fat complicate delicate tropical fruits, rose water and ginger on the nose. Then rather austere and linear on the palate, with good floral lift to the stone fruit flavors. Finishes rich and long, with a trace of alcoholic heat. Although Trimbach had made a Réserve Gewürz ...Read More »

2013 Domaine Weinbach "Cuvée Laurence" Gewürztraminer

93 points Wine Spectator: "**Highly Recommended** This harmonious version walks a fine line between lightly sweet flavors of ripe green melon, pear, clover honey and toasted almond, accented by dry and zesty hints of ground spice, herb and smoky mineral. Lacy and elegant throughout, thanks to firm, well-meshed acidity. Drink now through 2023." (10/2014)

2014 Framingham "Vendage Tardive" Gewürztraminer Marlborough (375ml)

97 points Bob Campbell: "Deeply coloured - rich gold. More about dehydration than botrytis. Picked when berries are raisined with a touch of botrytis. Very sweet with good Turkish delight, pot pourri and exotic tropical fruit flavours. A "foie gras" style. Rich, powerful wine - great texture! Xmas cake and creme brûlée. Sweetness is supported by good acidity." (11/2014)97 points Raymond Chan: "The nose is fulsome and powerful, with packed aromas of opulent and exotic tropical fruits entwined with honey, caramel and root ginger, along with layers of musk and marmalade, revealing a little nutty detail. 2013 TWR (Te Whare Ra) Gewurztraminer Marlborough

97 points Raymond Chan: "Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with lemony hues. The nose is elegantly full and densely concentrated, unfolding fine-featured waves of exotic florals, rose petals and Turkish Delight. The richness and presence is sensational and the finesse of expression exquisite. Medium in sweetness, the seamlessness of texture and refined unctuousness is the feature on palate, with considerable fruit extract forming a concentrated core. Flavours of honey, florals and musk are beautifully presented with a luscious density. The acidity is discreet and alcoholic driv ...Read More »

2013 Claiborne & Churchill Central Coast Gewürztraminer

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Fom a winery focused on Alsatian wines since starting in 1983, this tremendous Gewürztraminer is redolent with grilled lemon peels, lilac and a chalky minerality. On the elegant and tasty palate, there are white rocks, roasted nectarines, yellow apples and noticeable salinity." (2/2015)

2012 Ovum "Homage to Z-Celilo Vineyard" Columbia Gorge Gewürztraminer (Previously $24)

Ovum's 2012 Homage to Z Gewürztraminer is a savory and mineral-driven wine with a bright freshness and just a hint of residual sweetness to enrich the profile. The quality of the fruit straight off the vine was so apparent in this fine vintage that Ovum allowed half of the fruit to have two days of skin contact with the pressed juice with no fear of extracting bitter flavors. The wine was fermented in neutral wood and the results are a rich and versatile Oregon Gewürztraminer.

2013 Domaine Weinbach Altenbourg Gewurztraminer

This 'grand cru' single vineyard Gewurtzraminer is distinguished by its balance of intense aromas, richness on the palate, and elegant structure. Tropical fruit and floral aromas and flavors are balanced by fresh acidity, making this a full and flavorful wine that delights on its own, but is also well matched to rich and spicy dishes, sweet and sour dishes, or strong cheeses.

2012 Stony Hill Napa Valley Gewurztraminer

"The quantity may change, and dramatically, but the quality never! Our 2012 Gewurztraminer is floral elegance in a bottle. It's and intensely aromatic wine with hints of honeysuckle and citrus, and on the tongue it has a bright cirtus taste, some say grapefruit, some say orange peel. This lively mouth feel is followed by a generous viscosity on the finish, which is surprising for so young a wine." (from the winery)

2012 Domaine Weinbach Furstentum Gewürztraminer Vendage Tardive Grand Cru (375ml)

96 points Antonio Galloni: "Bright golden yellow. Pure, tangy, botrytis-rich aromas of apricot, peach syrup, orange marmalade, honey, smoked meat and cinnamon, all lifted by a note of lavender. A glyceral, honeyed essence of Gewürztraminer in the mouth, but the palate-saturating flavors of tropical fruits and spices are wonderfully fresh and long. This seems richer and deeper but more forward than the 2011 Mambourg VT. (ID)" (4/2015)

2013 Handley Anderson Valley Gewürztraminer

Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star and a Good Value* From its very concise aromas of flowers and spice to its dry and fairly buoyant young flavors, this nicely made Gewurztraminer exhibits very fine varietal focus and a good bit of energy. It has the slightly bitter edge that the grape commonly shows, yet it is never more than a touch, and its hard-to-resist freshness makes a most convincing case for drinking without undue delay." 2009 Albert Mann Gewürztraminer

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Overtly sweet even at 14% alcohol, the Mann 2009 Gewurztraminer incorporates much of this year’s crop from the Altenbourg. Celery seed, litchi, rose petal, and saline, marine breeze in the nose lead to a full, subtly creamy, palpably low-acid, but fortunately persistently juicy palate, finishing somewhat simple and obviously sweet. Jacky Barthelme insists "this is too good for a generic," and I sympathize in terms of his willingness to declassify cru material, but in terms of the wine’s performance, it seems to me to have been classed correctly. Drink it ...Read More »

2012 Hubert Meyer Gewürztraminer Vendage Tardive (Previously $42)

This is an expressive and intense style of Gewurztraminer. Loads of rich & ripe exotic flowers and fruits jump out of the glass and slip right onto the palate. For such a young wine this shows very nice complexity and has quite the range of power guiding it through. If pairing with food go with a selection of strong cheeses or maybe a pork roast rubbed in Asian spices then slow roasted for hours. Heck, if you have some Foie Gras lying around… Or, if you happen to be a student of wine, this is a fun play on late harvest sweetness vs. power. (Eric Story, A... Read More »

2008 Weingut Pfeffingen Estate Gewurztraminer Spätlese

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Pfeffingen 2008 Gewurztraminer Spatlese looks very sweet on paper with its combination of 40 grams residual sugar and a mere 7.2 grams of acid, but in fact there is an admirable sense of refreshment for the variety and a vintage-typical buoyancy. Lychee, rose petal, black tea, musk, and wood smoke on the nose all follow on a subtly oily palate otherwise dominated by luscious quince preserves. This finishes with surprisingly animated, juicy generosity and at the same time some animalistic intrigue. It will remain a delight for at least the next 7-9 ye ...Read More »

2001 Williams-Selyem "Vista Verde" Late Harvest Gewurztraminer (375ml)

89 (+?) points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale green-tinged gold color. High-toned aromas of peach, apricot, clove and cinnamon. Not at all unctuous or thick; in fact a bit tart-edged, with slightly shrill flavors of orange peel and overripe pineapple framed by fresh acidity. This is even sweeter than the 2000 version at 16% residual sugar (it's carrying more alcohol as well), and yet the acids seem harder too, at least today. Additional Recommended California Wines." 1998 Bott-Geyl "Selection Grains Noble" Sonnenglanz Gewurztraminer (500ml)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Roses and red berries can be discerned in the as yet unformed nose of the 1998 Gewurztraminer Sonnenglanz Selection de Grains Nobles. This full-bodied, unbelievably dense wine is unctuously-textured, and packed to the gills with jammy apricots, red berry syrup, and creamed lychees. As with most top-flight SGNs, it is thrilling to drink young, but will undoubtedly benefit from the harmonizing effects of cellaring."
