2005 Larkmead "LMV Salon" Napa Valley Proprietary Red
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Larkmead "LMV Salon" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (92ST, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright ruby. Reticent but vibrant aromas of blackberry, licorice and spices. Superripe, creamy and suave on the palate, with very good energy and a light touch to the dark fruit and spice flavors. A dense, rich wine that finishes with broad, sweet tannins and subtle persistence. This held up very well in the recorked bottle. 92(+?) points" (06/2008)

2005 Branaire-Ducru, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Branaire-Ducru, St-Julien (95RP, 95WE, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As usual, the 2005 Branaire-Ducru is one of the more distinctive wines of St.-Julien. Proprietor Patrick Maroteaux has turned out another classic. While not as opulent or fleshy as the 2003, and it remains to be seen if it will eclipse the 2000, the 2005 is a big, structured, intensely rich effort with raspberry, blueberry, and spring flower garden characteristics, stunning purity, full-bodied power, and good underlying acidity as well as harmony. The hard tannins suggest 8-9 years of cellaring will be beneficial; it should last for three decades. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030+." (04/2008)

2005 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Proprietary Red
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Proprietary Red (96RP, 95CG, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Proprietary Red is significantly better than what I tasted last year, although I certainly gave it a high score. This wine has fleshed out beautifully. The final blend (84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec) has a deep purple color, a beautifully sweet nose of blackberries and cassis intermixed with some meatiness, smoke, and a touch of pain grille as well as notes of espresso and licorice. Full-bodied, rich, with decent acidity, excellent delineation, and moderately high tannin, this is a beauty that should evolve for 25-30+ years It is no wimpish wine at 15.2% natural alcohol, but that is buried beneath a cascade of gorgeous fruit and glycerin. This wine should be cruising along brilliantly in 2030+." (12/2007)

The muscular finish shows flashes of iron, garrigue and graphite. Very, very long. Best from 2011 through 2024." (02/2009)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Peter Michael "Belle Côte" Knights Valley Chardonnay (95RP, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Chardonnay Belle Cote is always a more exotic wine. There are 2,200 cases of the 2005 Chardonnay Belle Cote, a wine with undeniable notes of crushed stones, white peach, orange, nectarine, and quince. Medium to full-bodied, with zesty acidity, stunning minerality, and a firm structure, this is a gorgeous, French-styled Chardonnay that should drink nicely for up to a decade. This 121-acre estate with 114 producing acres of vineyard all located in Knight’s Valley continues to be at the top of their game and I can’t recommend the wines highly enough." (12/2007)

2005 Tor Kenward "Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard" Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Tor Kenward "Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard" Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A magnificent effort, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard (approximately 300 cases) is reminiscent of a Bordeaux Pauillac. Cedar wood, creme de cassis, licorice, and spice box aromas soar from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple-colored cuvee. With fabulous fruit, intensity, full-bodied power, authoritative richness, and multiple flavor dimensions, this is a blockbuster Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well for 20+ years. Tor Kenward and his winemaker, Jeff Ames, have produced some breakthrough efforts in 2005 and 2006. A longtime executive at Beringer as well as a meticulous wine connoisseur who knows great wine as well as anybody, Kenward is carving out a superb reputation for wine quality. 2005 Maybach Family "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Maybach Family "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Named after the super-luxury car of the same name, the extraordinary 2005 Materium (614 cases) has more in common with a first-growth like Chateau Margaux than a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color along with a striking bouquet of blue and black fruits intermingled with acacia flowers, lead pencil shavings, and licorice, excellent fruit, medium to full body, substantial but sweet tannins, and compelling harmony among its acidity, alcohol, tannin, and extract. This sensational 2005 eclipses even the brilliant 2004. It should easily last 25 or more years. (RP)" (12/2008)

Of the 2005 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K Straw Man" Marsanne Vin de Paille (375ml),Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Even more remarkable is the 2005 Mr. K. Marsanne Vin de Paille The Straw Man. One-hundred percent Marsanne from the Beckmen Vineyard, with remarkably low alcohol (7.5%), a whopping 392 grams of residual sugar per liter, and exceptional acidity (6.4 grams of acid per liter), this is one of the most singular sweet wines I have ever tasted. It rivals the great 2000 Suey that was made from Roussanne and ended up with 241 grams of residual sugar. Full-bodied, firm, and backward, it is behaving more like a red wine than a Chardonnay. It boasts fabulous concentration, superb ripeness, plenty of honeysuckle, orange rind, and tropical fruit characteristics, copious minerality, and enormous length as well as richness. This beauty is as good as any Chardonnay made in either the New or Old World. Kistler Vineyards, undeniably one of the world’s finest winemaking estates, is run with passionate dedication to detail and quality by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler. A stunningly opulent wine with a dense purple color, the 2005 possesses a beautiful perfume of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, creosote, and graphite, full body, silky but noticeable tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and a stunning, 45+-second finish. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Alban Edna Valley Grenache (96RP, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The outstanding 2005 Grenache includes about 15% Syrah in the blend. More structured, restrained, and backward than either the 2004 or 2006, the 2005 possesses plenty of tannin along with enormous quantities of black cherry and blackberry fruit, medium to full body, good acidity, and a long, fresh finish. I am not a great believer in aging California Grenache for more than 10-12 years, but this cuvee may run the path effectively. While it is a stunning effort, when tasted next to the two Mr. K. whites, it comes in slightly below those two out-of-this-world offerings. Of the 2005 Château de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “Clos du Château de Maltroye”,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Very ripe aromas of apricot, marzipan and vanillin oak. Fat, sweet and pliant, in a very accessible style. Impressively large-scaled wine with lovely texture. There's minerality hiding between the sugar." (07/2006)

2005 Brane-Cantenac, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Brane-Cantenac, Margaux (94RP, 94WE, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is the finest Brane-Cantenac I have tasted in over thirty years. Unusually perfumed and already approachable (atypical for most 2005 Medocs), it reveals a deep plum/purple color as well as a stunningly flamboyant bouquet of smoked herbs, licorice, camphor, black cherries, currants, and notions of plums and blackberries. Elegant with silky tannin and medium body, it is clearly a classic statement on the Margaux appellation. While not a powerhouse, it is beautifully concentrated, stunningly balanced, and surprisingly forward. It could be drunk now after several hours of decanting, but it should age easily for 20+ years." Bid on this bottle of 2005 Didier Dagueneau "Silex" Pouilly-Fumé (96WS). Wine Spectator: "Tightly wound, with a lot in reserve, this has a piercing minerality that leads the way for floral, lemon verbena, lime, salted butter and thyme notes. Very long on the finish and very precise."

2005 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (92RP, 92WE, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The deep ruby/purple-colored 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (58% from Napa and 42% from Sonoma) possesses a full-bodied mouthfeel as well as loads of cassis fruit, and smoky, subtle oak in the background. Round, plump, and hedonistic, it should drink well for a decade. (RP)" (12/2007)

2005 Domaine Paul Autard "Cuvée La Côte Ronde" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Paul Autard "Cuvée La Côte Ronde" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (94RP, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee La Cote Ronde is undeniably the best wine Autard has made since the 1998 rendition of this cuvee. This got a big “Wow!” when I smelled it. A stunning nose of black truffles, melted licorice, blackberries, and sweet cherries is followed by a multi-dimensional, multi-layered, full-bodied wine with tremendous power, richness, and a hint of barrique. One could say this is modern, but the Provencal personality jumps from the glass of this meaty, dense wine. (RP)" (10/2007)

2005 La Confession, St-Emilion
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 La Confession, St-Emilion (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Opaque purple, with a sweet blue and blackberry perfume intertwined with licorice and graphite, the 2005 La Confession exhibits massive concentration and extraction, but this full-bodied wine pulls back from being over-the-top because of intrinsic freshness and admirable purity. It is a brilliant effort from the young Janouiex, but it needs some cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2028" (04/2008)
