2004 Penfolds "Kalimna—Block 42" Cabernet Sauvignon South Australia
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Penfolds "Kalimna—Block 42" Cabernet Sauvignon South Australia (100JS, 98ST, 97RP, 97WE, 97WS). James Suckling: "This is phenomenal, with game, meat, deer and fruit. Black truffles. Wild fruit. Insane. Black and green olives. Full bodied, with big velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Amazing sliced meat and fruit character. Fabulous wine that just blows me away and makes me think of great pre-phyloxera Bordeaux of 1864 and 1865. From vines in the mid-1880s. About 10 acres. 500 cases. Screwcap." (11/2011)

2004 Henri Boillot Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Henri Boillot Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru (96BH, (92-95ST)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Don't Miss!* This is gorgeously pure and incredibly focused aromatically with an incredible breadth of aromas, from white flower to ripe orchard fruits nuanced by a panoply of spice notes. The unbelievably intense flavors are deep and strikingly transparent yet the level of dry extract this enjoys is nothing short of remarkable. The crystalline finish doesn't just end but rather its ends with one complex wave after another and the sense of energy and drive here is palpable. Flat out terrific." (07/2006)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Mas Doix Costers de Vinyes Velles Priorat, Spain (OWC - 98RP, 93ST, 93WS) in original wood. 98 points from the Wine Advocate! They say, "The 2004 Costers de Vinas Viejas is 50% Carinena, 48% Garnacha, and 2% Merlot aged for 16 months in new French oak. Deep purple, the aromas are other-worldly with truffle, tar, graphite, kirsch, and wild blueberry among the array of scents leaping from the glass. Flamboyant and opulent, the wine has remarkable richness and depth of flavor leading to a 60-second finish. Drink this hedonistic effort over the next 10-12 years. 2/28/2007"

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Sylvain Cathiard Vosne Romanee 1er Cru "Aux Reignots" ((89-92BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Cool and somewhat reserved spicy black fruit aromas laced with obvious minerality merge into deep, velvety and brooding flavors and an understated but long and penetrating finish. This is a really lovely effort with style and grace that is distinctly different than the other wines in the range as there is a coolness here similar to fine examples of Clos des Ducs or Reignots' immediate neighbor La Romanée. I find this to be really quite attractive and all the more so when you consider just how young the vines are." (01/2006)

2004 Alban Edna Valley Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Alban Edna Valley Grenache (99RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "We should all be happy about this as the 2004 Grenache is easily one of the top examples of the variety I’ve tasted from California. Flirting with perfection and reminding me of Clos Saint Jean’s Deus Ex Machina from Chateauneuf du Pape (despite being 100% Grenache and having no Mourvedre in the blend), it will easily stand toe to toe with the greatest southern Rhones out there. Sporting a semi-opaque, youthful ruby color, it offers spectacular aromas and flavors of smoked black cherries, melted licorice, graphite, smoked meats and roasted herbs that continue to evolve and gain in richness and depth with time in the glass. Full-bodied and decadent, yet far from a heavyweight, it is graceful and lively on the palate with no hard edges, perfect balance and a seamless, elegant profile that shows only hints of maturity. When all is said and done, this incredible wine will have 20-25 ye

2004 Nicholas Cole Camille Bordeaux Blend Reserve
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Nicholas Cole Camille Bordeaux Blend Reserve (92RP, 92WE, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Camille is a blend of 64% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc, and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose offers up toasty oak, some pleasant herbaceousness from the Cabernet Franc, as well as red and black currants and a hint of leather. On the palate there is excellent depth and concentration, broad spicy flavors, and a long, pure finish. The ripe tannins are nicely integrated and should allow for 5-7 years of further development. This classy effort should drink well through 2040. The good news is that the best is yet to come at Nicholas Cole. I tasted from barrel three 2005 Bordeaux-style blends, one of which is from 100% estate fruit, which were all exhibiting outstanding potential, and a scintillating 2005 estate Syrah which should ultimately be in the (94-96 point) range. It is so deliciously fresh and floating, with great black currant and blueberry fruits, pointed up by spice, mint and a sense of elegance and poise. There’s no doubt about its aging potential either: just feel that heart of firm tannins." (06/2007)

Tight on the finish, so cellar for a while. Best from 2007 through 2024. " (11/2006)

2004 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Valmur"
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Valmur" (94BH, 94RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sage leaves, rosemary, quartz, and iodine are found in the nose of the 2004 Chablis Valmur (domaine). A wine of awe-inspiring precision as well as depth, it coats the palate with sea shells, minerals, fresh herbs, and liquefied rocks. Though I freely admit to having a special fondness for the Valmur vineyard, this wine hits the taster deep in the soul. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015...The rapidity with which Joseph Henriot turned around this once moribund estate is remarkable. Under the supervision and winemaking of super-talented Didier Seguier (from Cucq-Les-Vielmur in France’s southwest, near Castres), Domaine William Fevre has been catapulted into the top echelon of Chablis’s producers (and if you don’t believe me, just ask Vincent Dauvissat or Bernard Raveneau)." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another brilliant effort from this estate, the 2004 Lascombes (a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot) exhibits a deep blue/purple hue along with a sweet perfume of blueberries, black raspberries, cherries, incense, smoke, and spring flowers. While opulent, underneath the full-bodied richness of fruit and depth is a structured wine. As it sits in the glass, an espresso roast character (no doubt from new oak) also emerges. Bid on this bottle of 2004 Penfolds Bin 60A Cabernet Sauvigon-Shiraz Coonawarra-Barossa South Australia (99RP, 96ST, 96WE, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blended of 56% Coonawarra Cabernet from Block 20 and 44% Barossa Shiraz from Koonunga Hill Block 56G and Kalimna Blocks 4 and 14, the wine was matured in 100% new American oak hogsheads for 13 months. Very deep purple-black in color, it offers restrained notes of game, smoked meat, earth, blackberry and black currant liqueurs, yeast, marmite-toast plus whiffs of dried lavender, cedar and bark. Very crisp, very tight and very firm, this taut medium-bodied wine is still all structure at this stage, going very long and earthy in the finish. (LPB)" (12/2010)

Wine Enthusiast: "A perfect score has to be considered in the context of its region. Shafer' 2004 Hillside Select is tremendous as a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that competes with its peers at the highest levels... This 100% Cabernet is tremendous in cassis, black currant and mocha flavors, and the 100% new French oak provides perfect additions of smoke and caramel. 2004 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 95WE, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon 'Galitzine Vineyard' comes from the fourth leaf of this estate vineyard and is the first release of the wine, made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Opaque purple-colored, it has a superb bouquet of pain grille, scorched earth, truffle, walnuts, black cherry, and blackberry liqueur which leaps from the glass. On the palate it is sweet and rich with layers of spicy black fruit flavors, terrific balance, and a 45+ second finish. It does not have quite the weight and depth of the flagship Cabernet but keep in mind that this is the product of a young vineyard only beginning to express its enormous potential." (08/2007)

Sweet aromas of creme de cassis, licorice, charcoal and spice are followed by a beautifully etched, full-bodied wine with sweet tannins, well-integrated acidity, and a hint of background oak. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Kapcsandy "State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 96WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 performed spectacularly and the good news is that 1,200-1,300 cases were produced. Showing better than it did in its infancy, this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot has an inky purple color as well as notes of lead pencil shavings and scorched earth that resemble a great Graves, blackberry and creme de cassis fruit, licorice and subtle smoky barbecue. It also reveals a full-bodied texture, stunning concentration and beautiful richness. This is the only time the Kapcsandys made this particular blend and it certainly is performing incredibly well at age ten. It has a velvet mouthfeel: the tannins are dusty and mineral, alongside fruit flavors of ripe black plums and dark figs, leavened with fresh acidity. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Leflaive Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "It seems as though it's no longer a matter of whether the '04 BBM is reduced but just how reduced and this latest bottle was seriously reduced, indeed to the point where it completely dominated the nose. Other bottles certainly have displayed some but not completely at the expense of the hallmark honeysuckle aromas. The tight, and still quite backward, vibrant medium-bodied plus flavors possess real richness, volume and more structure than I typically find yet the balance is absolutely impeccable. The vibrancy and energy here are most impressive but one has to begin to wonder if the reduction hasn't become permanent? If it has it won't make the wine unpleasant but it will deprive of us of the enjoyment of the nose. In view of this potential difficulty (especially since it appears to be the case with the '04 Clavoillons - see herein), I have lowered my score somew

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Aged 20 months in 72% new French oak, this blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc comes from a great vineyard on the valley floor in Oakville, just south of Rudd Estate and Plumpjack. The wine’s dense ruby/purple color is followed by a beautiful, Pauillac-like (think Pontet Canet or Mouton), ethereal perfume of creme de cassis, or as Michael Broadbent used to say, 'celestial black currants,' full body, a velvety texture, fine tannins, a multidimensional mouthfeel, and a terrific finish. While there were no real surprises tasting this wine, I was somewhat intrigued by just how youthful the 2004 Screaming Eagle is showing. I had expected it to reveal slightly more evolution. I thought the 13% Merlot in the blend would push the evolution more quickly. The finish lasts for a full minute. As it has been in just about every vintage, the 200

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (95JS, 94WS, 92RP, 91ST). James Suckling: "*Daily Collectibles* This is another example of the wonderful 2004 vintage for Bordeaux. They are so delicious to drink now. The Cos is one of the best out there. And very reasonably priced at less than $150 a bottle. The charcuterie that hits you as soon as you open this Bordeaux is overwhelming: It's smoky, spicy and sexy. Minutes later you realize the complexity on offer, catching just a scent of the dark fruits hidden beneath, and before those, long and wonderful hints of balsamic vinegar. On the palate this shows elegance and finesse thanks to fabulous balance, extremely integrated tannins and a long and glorious finish. 2004 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune-Grèves 1er Cru "Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune-Grèves 1er Cru "Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus" (92BH, 90ST, 90WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " **Sweet spot Outstanding!** Fans of this wine will notice a good deal more wood influence than normal but the good news is that it appears to also possess the requisite stuffing to successfully integrate it with time in bottle. The nose is earthy but fresh with excellent density and volume, culminating in an explosively powerful finish. More importantly for a firmly structured wine like this, the supporting tannins are ripe and this too should reward extended cellaring." (04/2006)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien (95WE, 95WS, 93RP, 90ST). Wine Spectator: " *#6 on the Top 100 Wines of 2007* Intense aromas of black licorice, berries and currants follow through to a full-bodied palate, with lots of velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Builds on the palate. Reminds me of the 1996 Las Cases. May be better." (03/2005)

2004 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Latour, Pauillac (97WE, 95RP, 95WS, 94ST, 93JS). Wine Enthusiast: "There are tannins, structure and power, but also supreme elegance. The 2004 acidity comes through in the sweet cassis flavors, supported at the back by dry tannins. Currently, the wine is closed up, losing some of its fresh fruit, but this is a moment in its slow evolution towards a classic Latour." (06/2007)

2004 Ausone, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Ausone, St-Emilion (98W&S, 95WS, 94RP, 93ST). Wine & Spirits: "Tasted from barrel in 2005, this was among the best wines of the vintage, with limestone-soil character coming through the fresh brightness of fruit. Ausone was all potential energy then, and it has only improved in the two years since. The wine shares the resonant depths of the ancient limestone caves at Ausone, as the flavors echo through the finish. It starts off from a small place, a sweet confection that brings roasted blueberries to mind, the caramelized oak tasting like the edge of charred fat on extremely fine grilled beef. Over the course of several days, the wine becomes increasingly more subtle and serious in tone, with delicate red fruit, gracious mineral-inflected tannins and detailed flavors that last effortlessly. This Ausone will live for decades." (10/2007)

2004 Larkmead "LMV Salon" Napa Valley Bordeaux Red
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Larkmead "LMV Salon" Napa Valley Bordeaux Red (98RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Salon is a proprietary blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot and 3% Malbec. It possesses a youthful dense purple color along with an explosive nose of spring flowers, black raspberries and black currants, a touch of graphite, but no evidence of oak. The wine boasts extraordinary opulence and complexity, multiple dimensions, endless depth and richness, and perfect balance. This compelling 2004 is one of the superstars of the vintage. Approachable now, it should age for 20-30+ years, possibly as long as 50 years. " (04/2014)

2004 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (93ST, 92WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated, bright medium ruby. Crushed cassis, licorice and minerals on the nose. Pure, primary black fruit and mineral flavors framed and enlivened by surprisingly juicy acidity. Very firmly built, vibrant wine with the structure to reward aging. Winemaker Bob Foley noted that Pride's Cabernet had better than usual acidity in 2004, and certainly more than in 2003 or 2002; the harvest here lasted into early November." (06/2007)

2004 Kongsgaard Napa Valley Viognier-Roussanne
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Kongsgaard Napa Valley Viognier-Roussanne (94ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, pale yellow. Pungent aromas of citrus zest, minerals and flowers. Penetrating and firm-edged in the mouth, with highly perfumed flavors of crystallized lemon peel, minerals, smoke and candle wax. This has an exhilarating sugar/acid snap, with a sweet/tart quality that continued to bring this taster back for another sip. (In fact, I polished off this bottle a few hours later over dinner.)" 2004 Bodegas El Nido "Clio" Jumilla
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Bodegas El Nido "Clio" Jumilla (97RP, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The consulting winemaker at Bodegas El Nido is Chris Ringland of Barossa Valley fame. The 2004 Clio is 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 70% Monastrell (from 63-year-old vines) which received malolactic fermentation in new oak followed by 26 months of aging in new French and American barriques. A glass-coating opaque purple, it exhibits a sensational nose of earth, mushroom, leather, blueberry, and blackberry jam. On the palate the wine is supple-textured, complex, with vibrant flavors of spicy blue and black fruits and a big-time WOW factor. This is a totally hedonistic effort with exceptional length and balance. It is remarkably light on its feet for such a powerful wine. (JM)" (02/2007)

2004 Angélus, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Angélus, St-Emilion (95RP, 91ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This 7,500-case blend of 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc is one of the strongest wines of the vintage. A deep blue/purple hue is accompanied by classic aromas of smoky blueberries and blackberries as well as incense and floral notes in the background. A beautiful texture, opulence, flamboyance, and purity characterize this stunningly deep, full-bodied effort, another great success from proprietor Hubert de Bouard. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2022." 2004 Vérité "La Joie" Sonoma County Proprietary Red (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2004 Vérité "La Joie" Sonoma County Proprietary Red (1.5L) (99RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another great showing for a wine from this vintage, the 2004 La Joie is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The majority of the fruit came from the Alexander Mountain Estate, followed by Knight’s Valley, Bennett Valley and Chalk Hill. Full-bodied, powerful and concentrated, it is richer than either the 2003 and 2001, and comes closer to the 2002’s personality. Sweet notes of caramels, espresso roast, forest floor, camphor, plums, chocolate and blackberries emerge from this full-bodied, unctuously textured, chewy, fleshy 2004. It requires another 3-5 years of bottle age and should keep for two decades or more. (RP)" (04/2014)

2004 Domaine William Fevre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Preuses"
Bid on this 7-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine William Fevre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Preuses" (OWC - 95BH, 94RP, 93ST) in original wood. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This brilliant effort is evolving very much along the lines that I originally expected that it might and it has arrived on the front edge of full maturity. The elegant and highly complex nose is wonderfully classy and it clearly speaks of its origins as do the rich yet delineated medium-bodied flavors brimming with a subtle minerality and outstanding length. About the only nit is that the finish of this most recent bottle is perhaps not quite as persistent as I remember but overall, this is flat out terrific. I would continue to hold this for another year or two but it would be no vinous crime to dip into this now. Consistent notes." (05/2011)

2004 Glaetzer "Godolphin" Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley South Australia
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Glaetzer "Godolphin" Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley South Australia ((96-98RP), 95JH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This nearly perfect wine, made from 70% Shiraz (105- to 115-year-old vines) and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon (60- to 90-year-old vines), was cropped at a minuscule .5 to 1 ton of fruit per acre, and spent 15 months in French oak prior to bottling. Its gorgeously sweet, pure nose of crushed rocks, blueberries, cassis, and minerals soars from the glass. Floral-like black and blue fruits, an inky/purple color, and nearly endless depth and persistence on the palate are the stuff of legends. With extraordinary equilibrium, precision, and purity, it represents the apogee of Ben Glaetzer’s winemaking talents. (RP)" (10/2005)
