2009 Alain Voge "Vieilles Vignes" Cornas
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Alain Voge "Vieilles Vignes" Cornas (94RP, 94WS, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "This is loaded with vivacious character, as a lively briar note punctuates the grippy charcoal, sweet tapenade, blackberry coulis and macerated plum fruit flavors. The long, iron-driven finish lets the fruit play out." (10/2012)

Wine Spectator: "Dark and densely packed, yet terrifically racy, with plum sauce, pastis and crushed blackberry fruit wound with charcoal and roasted tobacco leaf notes, but carried by riveting acidity. A long, singed iron note hangs on the finish. Shows amazing power and vivacity. A new paradigm for Cornas. Best from 2013 through 2023. 50 cases imported. " (10/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "Domaine de Thalabert" Crozes-Hermitage (93RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert, which I raved about last year, is slightly better than their brilliant 2009. It boasts a dense purple color along with a beautiful perfume of camphor, licorice, forest floor, black currants and Christmas fruitcake. With tremendous intensity, full body and supple tannins, it should drink well for 10-15 years, perhaps longer where well-stored. This cuvee is always one of the best buys in the Northern Rhone. Of the 2007 Domaine de la Janasse "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: " The finest wine I’ve ever tasted from the Sabon’s (although the 2010 gives it a run for its money), the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is a flawless example of what this estate is capable of in a great year. Full-bodied, decadent and layered, with incredible purity and freshness, it boasts heavenly notes of blackberry, chocolate, licorice, red wine marinade and roasted meat. It’s a monumental wine that offers a singular, yet hedonistic drinking experience that should not be missed. (JD)" (08/2014)

Very light in color, like weathered bricks, but this medium-bodied red has all the sweetness you can wish for from a young wine, with ripe tannins and some plum and cherry confit providing succulent flavors; you won't leave a drop in the glass. Tight on the finish, so cellar for a while. Best from 2007 through 2024. " (11/2006)

2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of the 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. Full-bodied and powerful, it will undoubtedly close down over the next several years, not to re-emerge for 7-8 years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025. (RP)"

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Pierre Usseglio "Cuvée de Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 1,800 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Mon Aieul (100% tank-aged Grenache). It represents an awesome naked/virginal expression of Grenache from three vineyard parcels planted in sand, clay, and limestone soils. After tasting this wine on five separate occasions, I can state with certainty, it has the most saturated color of any Mon Aieul produced to date. Moreover, its perfume of blueberry liqueur, black raspberries, licorice, roasted meat juices, and lavender is incredible. Full-bodied power, a multilayered mouthfeel, tremendous purity, and awesome concentration put this wine in a class by itself. This sensational Chateauneuf du Pape is still very young, and 3-4 years of cellaring is required. It should be a modern day legend and last for nearly two decades. (RP)" (10/2009)

Wine Spectator: "Ripe and unctuous, showing terrific cut, with heather, white peach, green almond, Anjou pear, persimmon and macadamia nut notes all framed by a toasted brioche hint. Exquisitely detailed through the finish, this shows salted butter and chammomile details. Remains refined, focused and pure, despite the obvious power. Best from 2017 through 2030." (11/2013)

Big-bodied, velvety and suave, with mocha, spice and gorgeous ripe fruit, it walks a thin line between modern and traditional, delivering mineral and terroir quality thanks to its great concentration. The fruit and tannins are so sweet. Tempting now. Best from 2005 through 2030." (12/2000)

1999 Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie (95RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest Cote Roties Ogier has made (and he agrees) are the 1999s. The fabulous, opaque purple-colored 1999 Cote Rotie, which spent two years in wood (30% new), reveals a glorious bouquet of bacon fat, creme de cassis, licorice, violets, and spice box. It is full-bodied, with sweet tannin, great presence in the mouth, and a knock-out finish. Although it will be approachable in its youth, 3-4 more years of cellaring will be beneficial. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2018. Michel Ogier and his son, Stephane, are producing spectacular wines. The only problem is that production is small. As I indicated last year, Ogier's 1999s are magical. (RP)" (04/2002)

1999 Domaine des Remizieres Hermitage "Cuvee Emilie"
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1999 Domaine des Remizieres Hermitage "Cuvee Emilie" (96RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Philippe Desmeures's 1999 Hermitage Cuvee Emilie rouge (1,000 cases) is a candidate for the "Hermitage of the vintage." About 70% of the grapes for this cuvee emerge from old vines located in L'Hermite (on the crown of the great dome of Hermitage) and the remainder from Les Rocoules. This extraordinarily intense offering boasts an opaque black/purple color (reminiscent of a cult Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa) as well as a sumptuous nose of sweet blackberry liqueur intermixed with espresso, licorice, tobacco, minerals, and toast. There is massive flavor concentration, multiple layers, full body, purity, and beautifully integrated acidity and tannin. This compelling Hermitage should evolve for three decades. (RP)" (04/2002)

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Château de Beaucastel "Hommage à Jacques Perrin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 98AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The perfection of the 1990 is based on a seamless, classic, harmonious concoction of flowers, melted licorice, blackberries, kirsch, blueberries, and Asian spices. An enormously full-bodied, sweet, expansive, amazing wine with a finish that lasts over a minute, it combines the extraordinary hedonism of the 1998 with an unbelievable intellectual appeal that makes it so hauntingly great. Even though it remains youthful, it can be drunk now or cellared for another 30 years." (01/2003)

Sweet black currant, smoked meats, spring flowers, licorice, and tar all jump from the glass of this dark plum/purple-colored wine. Full-bodied and rich, with impressive purity and length, the wine has shed all its tannin and seems to have reached its peak of maturity, where it should last for another 5-6 years. (RP)" (06/2010)

2006 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape is one of the two or three candidates for the wine of the vintage. An extraordinarily great wine, the 2006 is far superior to the 2005, which was amazing, and while made in a different style, is as great as the 2003, and such legends as 1990 and 1978. Fashioned from a minuscule 21 hectoliters per hectare, and tipping the scales at 15.2% natural alcohol, the 2006 boasts a dense ruby/purple color to the rim, in addition to an extraordinary bouquet of melted licorice, spring flowers, raspberries, black currants, spice box, and earth. In the mouth, it is utterly profound – full-bodied and multidimensional with astonishing purity, length, equilibrium, and intensity. This is a superb vintage for the Avrils, and Vincent deserves huge accolades for producing a wine of such incredible intensity and complexity. Think of Clos des Papes as a Chateaune

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Showing a smidge of worrisome volatile acidity, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin nevertheless has off-the-hook levels of richness and depth. Spring flowers, blackberry, cassis, licorice, violets and white pepper are all present here, and it’s a massive wine on the palate, with big fruit, a voluptuous texture and a great finish. After this tasting, I pulled a bottle from my cellar (purchased on release), and it was firing on all cylinders, with not a hint of VA, so this appears to be an isolated issue. (JD)" (08/2014)

Slightly lighter in color and weight when compared to the 2003, it’s showing some maturity and can be consumed anytime, but will without a doubt continue to evolve gracefully for another decade or more. A wine with a remarkably consistent track record in both style and quality.--1998 Châteauneuf-du-Pape retrospective. Drink now through 2027. " (09/2007)

An opaque ruby/purple color is followed by a tight but blossoming bouquet of blackberries, hickory smoke, damp earth, underbrush, and licorice. The wine is full-bodied, chewy, thick, but civilized. Starting out reticent on the nose, with ripe blackberry fruit, ground pepper, dried flowers and beef blood-like subtleties, it knocks it out of the park on the palate and has full-bodied richness, beautiful density and a savory finish. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1997-1998 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape Mixed Lot, including 2-bottles of 1997 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vielles Vignes and 2-bottles of 1998 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape (91ST, 90RP). Of the 1998 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Very good deep red. Jammy aromas of surmaturite: raspberry liqueur, cherry cough syrup, roasted game, roast coffee and mocha. Large-scaled and impressive on the attack, then rich, very concentrated and mouthfilling in the middle. Big, thick and layered; a bit unrefined next to the '99 normale, but at the same time more traditional and less exaggerated-more crunchy-than the extravagant '98 Vieilles Vignes. Big, spreading tannins coat the front teeth. (ST)" (01/2001)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (93ST, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby-red. Liqueur-like aromas of black raspberry, black cherry and licorice. Lush, fat and full in the mouth, with superb concentration and richness. A seamless wine with great Chateauneuf du Pape character. Complicating notes of tar and chocolate. Finishes with dusty, broad tannins and great persistence. This can be enjoyed now with the right dishes but should age gracefully." (01/2003)

1995 E. Guigal Hermitage
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 E. Guigal Hermitage (90RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1995 Hermitage is available in the marketplace. An outstanding effort, it boasts a dark ruby/purple color, and sweet cassis flavors nicely dosed with subtle oak. Licorice, truffle, mineral, and spice notions are also apparent in this impressively endowed wine's full-bodied flavors. It possesses moderate but sweet tannin. Although accessible, it will evolve for 15 or more years. (RP)" (10/1999)

1998 Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape (97WS, 95RP, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "Displays gorgeous, savage aromas and flavors, with crushed juniper berry, hot tar, sage leaf, roasted chestnut and grilled beef notes that scorch across the palate. Still rugged on the finish, though the color at the rim and the intensity and range of the aromas show that this is evolving.--1998 Châteauneuf-du-Pape retrospective. Best from 2009 through 2027." 2007 Pierre Usseglio "Reserve des Deux Freres" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Pierre Usseglio "Reserve des Deux Freres" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 95ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The perfect 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres is slightly more evolved and complex than the Mon Aieul, as odd as that seems. Having had it twice out of bottle, this wine (nearly 100% Grenache combined with a few dollops of Syrah) possesses an opaque ruby/purple color as well as a thrilling texture and monumental length (the finish lasts over 60 seconds). it's a blockbuster, but everything is in perfect balance, and, remarkably, it comes across as the most accessible Reserve des Deux Freres made to date. This wine's aging is completely different from its sibling-s. Sixty percent is aged in 1, 2, and 3-year-old Burgundy barrels, and the rest in small new oak barrels, but there is not a hint of new oak in the aromatics. The bouquet reveals plenty of blackberry, blueberry, and cassis fruit intertwined with notions of melted licor

Bid on this 1.5 liter 1-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine La Barroche "Pure" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (95RP, 95ST, 95WS). Wine Spectator: "Superdriven and pure, with a massive core of raspberry ganache and boysenberry fruit laid over dark spice, anise and floral notes. Long and authoritative through the finish, with huge but perfectly embedded, rounded tannins that take a back seat to the enticing spice, fig bread and licorice notes. This is a classic expression of Grenache." (12/2008)
