2010 "II" by Alpha Omega Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

From the producer: "II is the culmination of the two worlds, the Alpha and the Omega, the Old World and the New World. Our two winemakers, Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland, worked to create a wine that is not only opulent, fruit forward and generous, but also has the backbone of European acidity and elegance. A reflection of both worlds. II is a wine that is built to be approachable, both in taste and price, and consumed early."

2008 Abreu "Cappella" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Abreu "Cappella" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Cappella bursts onto the palate with black cherries, smoke, menthol and licorice. This is a decidedly powerful, tannic Cappella that is going to need quite a bit of bottle age. Layers of fruit build effortlessly to the intense, deeply expressive finish. With time in the glass, the wine’s potential becomes quite evident. In 2008 Cappella is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Petit Verdot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 4% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2033+. 2010 Abreu "Cappella" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC)
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Abreu "Cappella" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cappella, ( 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot and Merlot) reveals a dense purple color, and even greater aromatic and flavor dimensions than the 2009. Notes of sweet creme de cassis, coffee bean, graphite, white chocolate and forest floor are followed by an intense, full-bodied, luxuriously textured wine that has plenty of tannin, but it is sweet and enrobed by sumptuous fruit and glycerin. This fabulous 2010 is one of the superstars of the vintage. It should continue to evolve for 25-30 years. As a set of wines, it is hard to surpass the four cuvees from the estate vineyards of David Abreu. As I have written many times in the past, all of these wines are truly world-class efforts that stand alongside proprietary red wines made from Bordeaux varietals from any appellation in the world. 2010 Abreu "Cappella" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (Previously $500)

96-98 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2010 Proprietary Red Cappella is surprisingly open today. The fruit is quite a bit darker and richer than in the 2009. Tar, graphite, mocha and espresso are some of the many notes that develop as the wine sits in the glass. There is plenty of 2010 energy and tension in the glass. It is a treat to catch the Cappella at this deeply expressive phase in its life. Though quite rich and sumptuous, the 2010 will need several years in bottle at a minimum to fully show those qualities. The 2010 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. 2000 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for wine of the vintage, the gorgeous 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Madrona Ranch (93% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) boasts an inky/purple color as well as a sumptuous perfume of violets, blackberries, blueberries, and coffee offered in a medium to full-bodied, supple-textured, accessible style. Unlike Abreu's biggest vintages, the 2000 is already delicious, and promises to evolve for 12-15 years." (12/2003)

1997 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I reported last year, the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Madrona Ranch is a perfect Cabernet Sauvignon. It has been in bottle for over a year, and this wine, like all the others, has easily soaked up its aging in 100% new Taransaud barrels. It is a sumptuous, unctuously-textured, fabulously concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon that hits all the sweet spots on the palate, and puts the olfactory senses into overdrive. 2010 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

98 points Antonio Galloni: "Abreu's 2010 Madrona Ranch dazzles with its intensity and extraordinary overall balance. Menthol, new leather, tobacco, cedar and earthy notes are all backed up by serious power. The 2010 is explosive on the palate -as so many 2010s are - yet the tannins are remarkably polished for a young wine with this much structure. A creamy, deeply resonant finish rounds things out in this stunning red from Madrona Ranch. The blend is 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot and 6% Merlot. 98+." 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Madrona Ranch is a strikingly superb Cabernet Sauvignon. Although it includes 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot in the blend, I would never have guessed that. Aged in 100% new Taransaud barrels (as are all Abreu's wines), this wine boasts an opaque purple color, in addition to a fabulous bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, cassis, licorice, minerals, and smoky, toasty oak. The wine's aromatics soar from the glass, and in the mouth, the bouquet's promise is fulfilled. A thick, juicy, black fruit character comes across in cascad ...Read More »

Layers of fruit blossom in the glass as this fleshy seductive wine continues to open up. Rich and multi-dimensional, the 2009 impresses for the way it covers every inch of the palate. 2002 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Madrona Ranch possesses an opaque blue/purple color as well as an extraordinary, enveloping, massive aromatic profile consisting of spring flowers, charcoal, lead pencil shavings, blueberries, raspberries and blackberry liqueur. In the mouth, there is sensational texture, full-bodied intensity, and terrific freshness, precision and vibrancy, despite what is undeniably a massive, rich, intense wine that should age well for another 25-35 years. The 2008 Thorevilos is the most complete and deeply satisfying of Abreu’s 2008s because the balance of fruit and structure is so impeccable. The 2008 literally explodes onto the palate with masses of dark fruit, tar, licorice and smoke. There is a fleshiness and depth of the fruit here that separates the Thorevilos from the other 2008s. 2010 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

98 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2010 Thorevilos is insanely beautiful from the very first taste. Massive tannins give way to a deeply expressive, resonant dark red fruit, graphite, wild flowers and new leather. The Thorevilos is the most reticent of the 2010s here. As such it will require considerable patience. Readers who are fortunate enough to find the wine, though, should not hesitate. I imagine a bottle opened before its tenth birthday will be largely an academic excercise. I hope to have the patience to follow my own advice, but it is going to be tough! 2002 Adelaida "Viking Estate Reserve" Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon

Connoisseurs Guide: "There is plenty of deep and well-defined Cabernet fruit at work in the richly oaked and optimally ripened aromas here, so it is a little surprising that the wine tightens on the palate and pulls back a bit from the riper fruit themes of the nose. Tannins are down even while acidity is not, but a brief wait of two or three years should allow the wine's bright, berry-and-herb flavors to find full voice." 2011 Alpha Omega "Era" Napa Valley Proprietary Red

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Alpha Omega’s flagship 2011 ERA (a selection of their finest barrels) is full and rich with slightly more tannin and structure than its siblings. This impressively endowed wine is similar to several of the single vineyard offerings. Like the Stagecoach Vineyard effort, it is made in a more backward, brooding style, especially for a 2011.
