2010 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2010 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 94ST, 93AG, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even more perfumed and up-front aromatically, the 2010 Broken Stones is a brilliant effort. A multi-vineyard blend of 63% Syrah, 19% Mourvedre, 15% Grenache, and 3% Petite Sirah that was aged mostly in new French oak, it offers up a gorgeously pure array of black raspberry, charcoal, licorice, lavender, and assorted floral qualities on the nose. This flows to a full-bodied, deft, and elegant palate that has no hard edges, a weightless feel, and masses of fine, yet firm tannin on the finish. Give bottles another year or three, and then drink over the following 12-15 years."

Deep ruby/purple-hued and medium to full-bodied, it offers hints of lavender, pepper, kirsch, raspberries, and darker fruit. This is an individualistic wine that should mature quickly, and provide the most luscious early drinking. (RP)" (06/2008)

Full-bodied, decadent and layered, with incredible purity and freshness, it boasts heavenly notes of blackberry, chocolate, licorice, red wine marinade and roasted meat. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Château Rayas Réserve Châteauneuf-du-Pape (93RP, 93WS, 90ST). Wine Spectator: " *Collectibles* Remarkable. Very light in color, like weathered bricks, but this medium-bodied red has all the sweetness you can wish for from a young wine, with ripe tannins and some plum and cherry confit providing succulent flavors; you won't leave a drop in the glass. Smooth, silky, ripe, balanced, long finish. Drink now through 2015." (12/2003)

2011 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 95AG, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brilliant 2011 Syrah Broken Stones comes from a cooler block of the James Berry Vineyard and checks in as a blend of 78% Syrah, 18% Mourvedre and 4% Petit Sirah. Relatively forward (especially when compared to the locked up Bone Rock), with fabulous purity and freshness, it exudes notions of creme de cassis, blueberry, pepper, crushed flowers and sweet oak on the nose. Full-bodied, seamless and elegant, yet with building richness and rock star length, it’s an elegant version of the cuvee to drink over the coming 15 years or more. (JD)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Mas Doix Costers de Vinyes Velles Priorat, Spain (OWC - 98RP, 93ST, 93WS) in original wood. 98 points from the Wine Advocate! They say, "The 2004 Costers de Vinas Viejas is 50% Carinena, 48% Garnacha, and 2% Merlot aged for 16 months in new French oak. Deep purple, the aromas are other-worldly with truffle, tar, graphite, kirsch, and wild blueberry among the array of scents leaping from the glass. Wine Spectator: "Packed with pure, ripe fruit--raspberry, boysenberry and fig--along with cocoa, tar and violet notes. Long, rich, dark finish shows lots of exotic spice, date and dried fruit notes. Tight on the finish, so cellar for a while. Best from 2007 through 2024. " (11/2006)

2009 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 97JS, 97WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Simply put, the 2009 James Berry Vineyard is one of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted from California, or anywhere for that matter. Bright, floral aromatics lead to expressive red fruit in this impossibly elegant, dazzling wine. A melange of rose petals, mint and licorice follows as the James Berry shows off its breathtaking clarity and finesse. Fine-grained, chalky tannins frame the exceptional finish. Frankly, I am surprised this is the first wine of the tasting. Where does one go from here? (AG)" (08/2011)

2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of the 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. Full-bodied and powerful, it will undoubtedly close down over the next several years, not to re-emerge for 7-8 years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025. (RP)"

2009 Alban "Pandora" Edna Valley Rhone Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Alban "Pandora" Edna Valley Rhone Blend (97RP, 96AG, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even richer and fuller on the palate, and capable of standing toe-to-toe with the best Grenaches in the world, the 2009 Pandora checks in as a blend of 95% Grenache and 5% Syrah that was aged in 64% new French oak. Coming from a single block of pure chalk soils, its inky purple color is followed by notions of blackberry, black cherry liqueur, smoked ham, vanilla and hints of chalky minerality that give way to a full-bodied, layered and voluptuously textured wine. Despite all of the fruit, it has beautiful mid-palate density and a big, ripe tannic structure. Count me a fan and don’t miss an opportunity to taste this wine! It should benefit from short-term cellaring and drink nicely for 15 years or more. (JD)." (08/2013)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1998 Paul Autard "La Côte Ronde" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (97WS, 93RP, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "Fantastic red. Big-bodied, velvety and suave, with mocha, spice and gorgeous ripe fruit, it walks a thin line between modern and traditional, delivering mineral and terroir quality thanks to its great concentration. The fruit and tannins are so sweet. Tempting now. Best from 2005 through 2030." (12/2000)

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Château de Beaucastel "Hommage à Jacques Perrin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 98AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The perfection of the 1990 is based on a seamless, classic, harmonious concoction of flowers, melted licorice, blackberries, kirsch, blueberries, and Asian spices. An enormously full-bodied, sweet, expansive, amazing wine with a finish that lasts over a minute, it combines the extraordinary hedonism of the 1998 with an unbelievable intellectual appeal that makes it so hauntingly great. Even though it remains youthful, it can be drunk now or cellared for another 30 years." (01/2003)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Domaine Grand Veneur "Les Origines" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (93RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fully mature, this top cuvee from the Jaume family is gorgeous to drink at present. Sweet black currant, smoked meats, spring flowers, licorice, and tar all jump from the glass of this dark plum/purple-colored wine. Full-bodied and rich, with impressive purity and length, the wine has shed all its tannin and seems to have reached its peak of maturity, where it should last for another 5-6 years. (RP)" (06/2010)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Showing a smidge of worrisome volatile acidity, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin nevertheless has off-the-hook levels of richness and depth. Spring flowers, blackberry, cassis, licorice, violets and white pepper are all present here, and it’s a massive wine on the palate, with big fruit, a voluptuous texture and a great finish. After this tasting, I pulled a bottle from my cellar (purchased on release), and it was firing on all cylinders, with not a hint of VA, so this appears to be an isolated issue. (JD)" (08/2014)

2006 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape is one of the two or three candidates for the wine of the vintage. An extraordinarily great wine, the 2006 is far superior to the 2005, which was amazing, and while made in a different style, is as great as the 2003, and such legends as 1990 and 1978. Fashioned from a minuscule 21 hectoliters per hectare, and tipping the scales at 15.2% natural alcohol, the 2006 boasts a dense ruby/purple color to the rim, in addition to an extraordinary bouquet of melted licorice, spring flowers, raspberries, black currants, spice box, and earth. In the mouth, it is utterly profound – full-bodied and multidimensional with astonishing purity, length, equilibrium, and intensity. This is a superb vintage for the Avrils, and Vincent deserves huge accolades for producing a wine of such incredible intensity and complexity. Think of Clos des Papes as a Chateaune

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Réservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Also brilliant, the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve is full-bodied and concentrated, with classic Pegau wildness, beef blood, saddle leather and garrigue all emerging from the glass. Slightly lighter in color and weight when compared to the 2003, it’s showing some maturity and can be consumed anytime, but will without a doubt continue to evolve gracefully for another decade or more.
