2005 Heitz Cellar "Trailside" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

90 points Wine Spectator: "This fine new release, with some bottle age, shows signs of subtle maturity. Aromas of mocha, cedar, dried currant and spice box follow through to a full body, This is well-built, with fine balance and good length. (Web-2011)" K&L Notes: In the early 1980s, the Heitz Family acquired a marvelous Rutherford vineyard bordered on one side by the Silverado Trail and nudged on the other by the Conn Creek. Thus the Trailside Vineyard was born. Aged for three-and-a-half years in a combination of American and French Limousin oak, the 2005 is elegantly perfumed to complement a... Read More »

2005 Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Back In Stock!
2005 Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is so balanced it hits the palate as impeccable and gorgeous. The flavors, of currants, cherries, vanilla and sweet oak, are only part of it. It is so dry, so richly structured in tannins and acids, so pure through the long, spicy finish, that it easily deserves its high score. Will age well for up to a decade." (2/2009)92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full ruby-red. Musky aromas of dried cherry, cedar, fresh herbs, incense and tobacco. Dense, juicy and fine-grained, with lovely verve to its delineated flavors of raspberry, spices, loam, leather and herbs. Finishes ripe ...Read More »

2005 Karl Lawrence Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Spectator: "Shows a taut herbal dill edge that veers to dry, cedary oak and lead pencil, with an appealing mix of spicy, minty currant and wild berry fruit that's firm and persistent." (11/2008) K&L Notes: The Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford, Herb Lamb Vineyard, just off Howell Mountain, and Beckstoffer-To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville. Karl Lawrence Cabs are tops in complexity, length, and cellar worthiness.

2005 Ghost Block Estate Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Nestled on a gently sloping knoll, Ghost Block vineyard is named in honor of Napa's pioneer winemakers who rest in a tiny 150 year old cemetery on the north edge of Yountville - the epicenter of Napa Valley. Graced with perfect drainage and sunny exposure, Ghost Block Vineyard is a jewel, an heirloom, passed down through a single family for over 100 years. The 2004 got 92 points from the Wine Spectator, and this 2005 is sure to garner its share of 90+ points from the pundits. 2005 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Counties Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The deep ruby/purple-colored 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (58% from Napa and 42% from Sonoma) possesses a full-bodied mouthfeel as well as loads of cassis fruit, and smoky, subtle oak in the background. Round, plump, and hedonistic, it should drink well for a decade. (RP)" (12/2007)92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A big, juicy young Cab that impresses for sheer flashiness, yet needs some time for its edges to soften. The ripe blackberry and cassis fruit is deep and generous, with nuances of smoky oak and sweet herbs. But the tannins are very strong and astringent. Needs cellar time. Best afte ...Read More »

2005 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep ruby-red. Complex aromas of currant, licorice, graphite, bitter chocolate, smoked meat, tobacco and brown spices. Began juicy, penetrating and quite youthfully unevolved, but aeration brought a suppler, rounder texture and more generosity to this impressively structured wine. Complicating notes of bitter cherry, menthol and minerals. This will require a good eight to ten years of aging but the substantial tannins are sweet and lush. Very long, pure and powerful on the finish." (6/2008)91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The flagship wine, the 2005 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvig ...Read More »

2005 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Proprietary Red
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Proprietary Red (96RP, 95CG, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Proprietary Red is significantly better than what I tasted last year, although I certainly gave it a high score. This wine has fleshed out beautifully. The final blend (84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec) has a deep purple color, a beautifully sweet nose of blackberries and cassis intermixed with some meatiness, smoke, and a touch of pain grille as well as notes of espresso and licorice. Full-bodied, rich, with decent acidity, excellent delineation, and moderately high tannin, this is a beauty that should evolve for 25-30+ years It is no wimpish wine at 15.2% natural alcohol, but that is buried beneath a cascade of gorgeous fruit and glycerin. This wine should be cruising along brilliantly in 2030+." (12/2007)

2005 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Wine Spectator: "*Top 100 Wines of 2008* Rich and complex, brimming with dense, opulent yet elegant layers of mocha, black cherry, blackberry and wild berry fruit that's pure, focused, deep and persistent, ending with mouthcoating flavors and ripe, fleshy tannins." (10/2008)94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is the densest, most tannic of Pride’s new releases, obviously meant for the cellar. You could drink it now, because it’s so lush, but the tightness suggests that the winemaker doesn’t want you to. Buried under the astringency are masses of cassis, dark chocolate, sweet fresh herbs and smoky oak. ...Read More »

2005 Lewis Cellars "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Lewis Cellars "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96CG, 93WS). Connoisseurs Guide: "***Three Stars*** As deep and defined and impressively structured as any wine in this issue, Lewis adds to its recent string of show-stopping Char-donnay successes with a Cabernet that stands with the best. A big, highly extracted wine whose concentration and sheer sense of scale are matched by few, it shows layer upon layer of cassis, creamy oak, cola, chocolate, coffee and loamy soil qualities that outdistance its ample young tannins and handily buffer its scant edge of heat. Downright enthralling, yet only a shadow of what it is bound to become, it deserves seeking out and needs to be cellared for ten or more years." (08/2008)

2005 Caravan (Darioush) Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

Caravan is the second label from Napa Valley powerhouse Darioush. Winemaker Steve Devitt aims for a rounder, more fruit-forward wine here and a more moderate price point. The fruit comes from two estate vineyards to help achieve the softer palate. Ripe berries and cherries make up this wine's core, highlighted by hints of cola, coffee and chocolate. Substantial amounts of petit verdot (19%) add floral notes, while a splash of malbec (2%) adds blueberry flavors on the finish. Try with roast lamb or filet mignon or a grilled burger with stilton or gorgonzo... Read More »

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Tor Kenward "Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard" Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A magnificent effort, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard (approximately 300 cases) is reminiscent of a Bordeaux Pauillac. Cedar wood, creme de cassis, licorice, and spice box aromas soar from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple-colored cuvee. With fabulous fruit, intensity, full-bodied power, authoritative richness, and multiple flavor dimensions, this is a blockbuster Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well for 20+ years. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color along with a striking bouquet of blue and black fruits intermingled with acacia flowers, lead pencil shavings, and licorice, excellent fruit, medium to full body, substantial but sweet tannins, and compelling harmony among its acidity, alcohol, tannin, and extract. Wine Enthusiast: "This is a very dry, richly textured Cabernet, vast in blackberry, black currant and cedar flavors, with the smooth, complex tannins Oakville is known for." (12/2010) K&L Notes: Among the tapestry of historic vineyards in Napa Valley, there are a few standout names, but even fewer sites, if any, involve the rare combination of legendary wine, romance, and a touch of mystery. The wine is dark ruby/purple-tinged with a floral, restrained nose of sweet cherries and soil and undertones of underbrush and barrique.
