They go with the golfing legend of owner Ernie Els and the winemaking skills of Louis Strydom of Rust en Vrede to produce a very impressively elegant wine, which has delicious mint and smooth black fruit flavors over layers of dark tannins. 2003 Larkmead "LMV Salon" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Larkmead "LMV Salon" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (96RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 LMV Salon is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot. It takes its name from the iconic San Francisco socialite, Lillie Hitchcock Coit, who established a “salon” at Larkmead. This wine cuts an even broader, more expansive flavor profile across the palate, offering gorgeous notes of creme de cassis, background oak and licorice, and hints of lead pencil shavings and spring flowers. Strikingly complex, this stunning wine reveals a freshness and vivacity that go against the general reputation of this vintage. It is a crunchy, juicy effort with 14.7% alcohol, although the latter component is not the least bit noticeable. Slightly more evolved than the basic Cabernet Sauvignon, this beauty is accessible now, so there is no reason to delay your pleasure. It should be strutting its stuff for 15-20 years.

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (95RP, 94JS, 94W&S, 94WE, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This sexy, evolved, dense ruby/purple-tinged 2003 reveals notes of smoke, herbs, black currant jam, licorice and graphite. Full-bodied, opulent and flamboyant, it is another example of a stunning 2003 northern Medoc that can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15 more years. This irregular vintage hit its zenith in the northern Medoc and in a handful of limestone terroirs in St.-Emilion. In contrast, other areas, particularly Pomerol, Graves and the sandy, gravelly soils of St.-Emilion, experienced difficulties in 2003." (08/2011)

It has sensational richness, but the purity, elegance, and overall nuance of this wine are what set it apart and give it a very distinctive character all its own. Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2003 Montrose, St-Estèphe (99RP, 97JS, 96ST, 95WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The blend in 2003 was 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot (a very high percentage), 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine, unlike most 2003s, has a freshness and liveliness provided by their extraordinary terroir. This wine can be drunk now. It has a dense bluish/purple color to the rim and an extraordinary nose of blueberries and mulberries, with blacker cassis and blackberry entering the picture. Scorched earth, spice and licorice are all present in this magnificent, full-bodied, opulent wine that is very Montrose, very classic and somewhat atypical of the vintage. Bid on this bottle of 2003 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 93ST, 93WS, 92CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the great so-called 'first growths' of Napa is Shafer’s 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon from their Stags Leap vineyard known as Hillside Select. This has been one of the top dozen or so wines in every vintage for over 15 years. A big wine at 14.9% alcohol, it is aged an atypically long time of 32 months in 100% new French oak, but at ten years of age, no oak is present. It is an utterly perfect wine, surpassing almost everything else made in 2003! It possesses everything one could desire in a Cabernet Sauvignon -- minerality, flowers, creme de cassis, blackberries, velvety tannins, a skyscraper texture, perfect balance and integration between the acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood, all well-concealed by the luxurious nature of this great wine. The finish is endless in this prodigious offering from a great family of grape growers and w

This full-bodied classic boasts a dense purple color as well as a superb nose of graphite, creme de cassis, forest floor, licorice and a hint of truffles, low acidity, and extravagant richness. 2003 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 97WE, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another wine I’ve had multiple times recently, the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot) is pure perfection in a glass and yields off-the-hook aromatics of cassis, black raspberries, tobacco leaf, pepper and licorice. Deep, layered and even elegant, with a seamless texture that conceals the sheer wealth of material present, it builds through the mid-palate, possesses huge amounts of extract and masses of polished tannin on the finish. Despite the overall size, it never loses its Cabernet Sauvignon soul and has an almost Bordeaux-like savoriness and tannic frame. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 860 cases of the 2003 Papa, a blend of 97% Syrah, 2% Mourvedre, and 1% Grenache sourced from six different vineyards. An old black and white photograph of Manfred Krankl’s father holding a baby with a head the size of a large watermelon (presumably Manfred) serves as the label for this wine, which has just about everything one could want in a great Syrah. It exhibits extraordinary power and richness along with large quantities of sexy, seductive cassis, black cherries, and a chocolaty undertone. The color is a healthy dark ruby/purple and the wine shows lots of cassis. In spite of the restrained aromatics, the palate is rich, full-bodied, substantial and persuasive. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Arietta "Variation One" Napa Valley Red Blend (95ST, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium ruby. The nose is at once cool and exotic, with expressive, explosive aromas of black cherry, raspberry, smoked meat, iris and brown spices. Wonderfully sweet and dense in the mouth, saturating every square millimeter of the palate. A magical combination of syrah energy and merlot breadth. Finishes horizontal and with great persistence, with a strong element of baking spices. A great California red blend." (06/2006)

2003 Angélus, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Angélus, St-Emilion (99RP, 94WS, 93JS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the great successes in St. Emilion in 2003, this wine has actually gotten better over the last eleven years. Pushing perfection, this blend of 57% Cabernet Franc (the highest ever at Angelus) and 43% Merlot boasts a dense purple color as well as a sublime set of aromatics, including forest floor, blue, red and black fruits, charcoal and hints of licorice and wood spice. Long, opulent, voluptuously textured and incredibly youthful and fresh, this full-bodied, tour de force in winemaking is an absolute legend in the making. It is an incredible accomplishment for a Right Bank 2003. Kudos to Hubert de Bouard for his vision as well as his perfectionist personality. This beauty should age for 5-10 more years. This beautiful effort, which sees about 60% new French oak, should drink well for 4-5 years. " (12/2005)

2003 Arietta "H Block Hudson" Napa Valley Red Blend
Bid on this 8-bottle lot of 2003 Arietta "H Block Hudson" Napa Valley Red Blend (93RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The deep ruby/purple-hued 2003 Proprietary Red H Block Hudson Vineyard (a 500-case blend of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot) exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as aromas of sassafras, underbrush, menthol, cassis, crushed rocks, and graphite. Although more closed than it was last year out of barrel, it reveals a beautiful texture, an explosively rich style, and a long, pure finish. I would not be surprised to see this wine merit a score in the mid-nineties once it sheds some of its tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020+. This partnership between winemaker John Kongsgaard and auctioneer Fritz Hatton has produced distinctive, singular wines, with the H Block a California version of Bordeaux’s famed Cheval Blanc, and the Variation One a “who knows what the heck” blend of Merlot and Syrah. Think of it as a hybrid version of a Bordeaux Graves mixed with a

2003 Carruades de Lafite, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Carruades de Lafite, Pauillac (91RP, 90JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 20,000 cases of the gorgeous 2003 Carruades de Lafite. Despite record heat in June, July and August, this wine only hit 12.8% alcohol, which seems modest compared to the higher alcohol levels of 2009 and 2010. A final blend of 50% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc has resulted in a second wine with a Lafite Rothschild-like character, plenty of creme de cassis, cedarwood and graphite notes as well as a supple, lush texture. It has reached full maturity where it should remain for another 5-10 years. " (08/2014)

2003 Sloan Napa Valley Proprietary Red (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Sloan Napa Valley Proprietary Red (OWC - 96RP, 94WS, 91ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 was made by Martha McClellan and the viticulture looked over by David Abreu. The 2003 Sloan, if slightly less prodigious than the perfect 2002, remains a young wine. Notes of vanillin, espresso roast, blackberries, scorched earth, camphor and hints of charcoal and barbecue meat jump from the glass of this spicy, rich, provocative Cabernet Sauvignon. With a full-bodied mouthfeel, sweet tannin and adequate acidity, the blend includes 14% Cabernet Franc and 86% Cabernet Sauvignon from this extraordinary hillside vineyard above Auberge de Soleil in mid-Napa Valley. Of the 2003 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "I was somewhat surprised to see that the 2003 Estate Pinot Noir merited the same score that it has received every time I have tasted it. Although I have never been able to award it a perfect score, it is as close to perfect as one will find. A terrific success in a vintage that rarely produced Pinot Noir of this quality except at selected micro-climates on the Sonoma coast. A majestic bouquet of black currants, smoky barbecue meat, blueberries and black raspberries soars from the glass of this dark plum/purple-colored wine. Full-bodied and stunningly rich with 14.5-14.7% natural alcohol, it possesses a layer of co
