2009 Rhys Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Rhys Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (93RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains is an excellent introduction to the house style. Floral aromas lead to layers of dark red fruit in this juicy, accessible Pinot. This is the least expensive Pinot in this lineup but it offers terrific balance, and shows no ill effects whatsoever of being tasted among the vineyard-designate bottlings. Fleshy, supple and wonderfully radiant, it will also drink better young than most, if not all, of those wines. (AG)" (08/2011)

2010 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon, T6" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon, T6" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96AG, 96WS, 93RP). Wine Spectator: "Tightly wound, intense and potent, with explosive dark berry, spice, cedar and mocha flavors. Among the most closed and backward of the 2010 Schraders, this nonetheless delivers Napa Cabernet's proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove. Best from 2015 through 2030." (06/2013)

2000 Ridge "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2000 Ridge "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (95AG, 92ST, 90RP). Antonio Galloni: "Do you want the good news or the bad news? Well, Ridge's 2000 Monte Bello is still not ready to drink. Huge, rich and voluptuous, but backed up be serious structure, the 2000 is still a very, very young wine. Readers who own the 2000 should be thrilled. With time in the glass, the 2000 starts to open up a little bit aromatically, but the tannins remain imposing. Hints of tobacco, iron, smoke, savory herbs, leather and licorice all add nuance on the close. This dramatic, brooding Monte Bello will likely drink well for another three decades. In 2000, Montebello is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. " (07/2013)

1995 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1995 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (95RP, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled in June, 1997, this profound Mouton is more accessible than the more muscular 1996. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 19% Merlot, it reveals an opaque purple color, and reluctant aromas of cassis, truffles, coffee, licorice, and spice. In the mouth, the wine is "great stuff," with superb density, a full-bodied personality, rich mid-palate, and a layered, profound finish that lasts for 40+ seconds. There is outstanding purity and high tannin, but my instincts suggest this wine is lower in acidity and slightly fleshier than the brawnier, bigger 1996. Both are great efforts from Mouton-Rothschild." (02/1998)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Erna Schein "Fat Boy" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, licorice and violet. Sweet on entry, then silky in the middle palate, with captivating, slightly high-toned flavors of dark berries and bitter chocolate. This really perks up the salivary glands. Finishes horizontal and velvety, with broad, sweet tannins and palate-saturating length. (ST)" (05/2010)

Fruit-driven aromas of pineapple, pear, citrus peel and hazelnut. Fleshy, fat and oily, with a thickness of texture leavened by fresh flavors of pineapple and nectarine. Very densely packed and long. Aubert hasn't missed a beat with his Ritchie bottling, which is consistently one of California's elite chardonnays." (06/2008)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Year in and year out, one of the three greatest Hermitages made is Chapoutier’s Le Pavillon. The black/blue-colored 2000 Ermitage Le Pavillon is brilliant out of bottle. Notes of graphite, ink, licorice, creme de cassis, and minerals jump from the glass of this syrup of Hermitage. Full-bodied, unctuously-textured, gorgeously rich, spectacularly concentrated and long, it is a tour de force in winemaking. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2040. (RP)" (06/2003)

1988 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1988 Margaux, Margaux (95WS, 93JS). Wine Spectator: "This has both sinew and flesh, with taut dried red currant, blackberry and plum skin notes that are forced to expand outward as the core of black tea, charcoal, plum paste and dark humus fills in quickly behind them. The charcoal-tinged grip carries the finish, with more bass than treble at first, but there's perfume here as well. Seriously long and the most overlooked of the truly great vintages here. Of the 2012 Blankiet "Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Antonio Galloni writes: "Blankiet's 2012 Proprietary Red Paradise Hills Vineyard races across the palate with super-expressive red fruit, smoke, licorice, spices and menthol. Here, too, it is the wine's textural silkiness and overall polish that stand out above all else. This radiant, striking Cabernet Sauvignon-based red will drink well to age twenty, perhaps beyond." Of the 2012 Maybach Family Vineyards "Amoenus" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus appears to be prodigious. Its inky/blue/purple color is followed by lots of meaty cassis notes, a chewy, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a luxurious, over-the-top richness that obscures some significant, sweet tannins. I suspect this wine will show more structure and firmness once it gets in bottle, much as the 2009 has demonstrated. This 2012 possesses enormous potential. " (10/2013)

2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (100RP, 96WE, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon contains 3% Merlot. The principal component comes from the Champoux Vineyard (in which the winery is a partner) with contributions from the Klipsun and Taptiel Vineyards, outstanding in their own right. It, too, was aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Opaque purple-colored, it has a splendid perfume of violets, wood smoke, truffle, Asian spices, black cherry, and black currant preserves. Opulent and mouth-coating, the layers of complex flavors nearly hide enough tannin to support 8-10 years of additional cellaring. The oak, tannin, and acidity are beautifully integrated and the lengthy finish lasts for well over a minute. Purchasers no doubt will want to try a bottle immediately but this towering effort will not reach its peak until 2015 at the earliest and provide pleasure through 2040. I say this with confide

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Colgin "Cariad" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (98AG, 98JS, 94RP, 94ST, 92WS). Antonio Galloni: "The 2009 Cariad Red Wine is a blend of fruit sourced from Thorevilos and Madrona Ranch in St. Helena. It is deep, sensual and beautifully balanced in its dark black fruit, menthol, spices and licorice. This is a much firmer and more structured wine than the Tychson Hill. It doesn't have that wine's sheer early appeal, but it does have the structure to age gracefully for years. Smoke, savory herbs and licorice are some of the notes that frame the explosive finish."

Antonio Galloni: "The 2009 Proprietary Red Madrona Ranch opens with beguiling notes of smoke, tar, incense and graphite. Layers of fruit blossom in the glass as this fleshy seductive wine continues to open up. Rich and multi-dimensional, the 2009 impresses for the way it covers every inch of the palate. This is a drop-dead gorgeous wine from David Abreu and Brad Grimes. The 2009 is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot and 5% Merlot. (Antonio Galloni)"

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Occidental (Kistler) "Bodegas Headlands--Cuvee Elizabeth" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (98RP, 97AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As good as the Cuvée Catherine is, there is another Occidental Pinot that is profound. There are 2,000 cases of the 2012 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvée Elizabeth. This wine reminded me of my earlier days in Burgundy tasting the Grand Cru Musigny. Incredible floral notes, sweet raspberries and blueberries as well as wet rocks soar from the glass of this profound, medium to full-bodied, gorgeous Pinot Noir made from 100% Calera clone. Stunning ripeness, great acids, and terrific delineation are all present in this super-intense, fragrant, modern classic from Steve Kistler. It should drink well for at least a decade, possibly a lot longer." (01/2015)

Of the 1998 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon,Antonio Galloni writes: "Ironically, the 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain from a much weaker vintage than 1997 on paper, is a much more interesting wine. Huge and explosive on the palate, the 1998 boasts serious depth and concentration. Iron, smoke, anise and dark red/blackish fruit all swirl around in the glass in a striking, nuanced Cabernet that is among the wines of the year in Napa Valley. Offering up beautiful raspberry, liquid flower, licorice and kirsch aromas and flavors, with brilliant purity, it is a concentrated, rich wine that has nothing out of place, beautiful acidity and a great finish. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 97JS, 97WE, 96ST, 92WS, 91CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the perfect wines from Shafer is the 2007 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select. Think it over – in the first decade of the 21st century, Shafer scored three perfect scores and two 99s – that’s about as high a praise as I can give any producer in the world. Opaque purple in color, the 2007 has a stunning nose of sweet crème de cassis, black cherries, licorice, and toasty oak, a multilayered, full-throttle personality, and a texture that builds and builds. Great purity, fabulous fruit intensity and a richness without heaviness characterize this massive, prodigious effort from Shafer. It’s still very young, despite this vintage, which seems to be maturing precociously. A mild spring and summer with only a handful of heat spikes was followed by beautiful weather in September and October. One of the finest Private Reserves made over the last two decades, this phenomenal wine is obviously still an infant in terms of development, but it exhibits a dense purple color as well as an extraordinary nose of blackberries, white chocolate, licorice, tobacco leaf, smoky barbecue, charcoal and a burning ember-like note reminiscent of a Graves from Bordeaux. 2000 Château Beauséjour (Duffau-Lagarrosse), St-Emilion
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Château Beauséjour (Duffau-Lagarrosse), St-Emilion (93RP, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I often lament the fact that only the 1990 and 2009 are wines that fully showcase this extraordinary terroir. However, the 2000 is no “Ugly Betty,” so to speak. It showed extremely well in the tastings, with the tell-tale notes of flowers, crushed rock, blueberry and camphor well-displayed. Full-bodied, rich, long, and just beginning to shed its cloak of tannin, this is quite an impressively endowed Beausejour-Duffau that can be drunk in 1-2 years or cellared for another 25 or more. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco "Gallina di Neive". Gallina - a vineyard on the southwestern side Nieve with southern exposure and calcerous soil - is a somewhat seldom-seen bottling from Bruno Giacosa. The 1998 is the last vintage to be bottled as a single cru. Older vintages have been found to age very well.

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Carter Cellars "Revilo Vineyard" Napa Valley Caberenet Sauvignon. Wine Spectator: "Sleek and supple while notably herbal, with touches of mineral and pebble. The dried currant flavors have a charry oak edge as well, so short-term cellaring should work to its advantage." (10/2008)

1999 Burge Family "DraycottGrateful Reserve" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Burge Family "DraycottGrateful Reserve" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (91ST, 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Black fruits, pepper, lead pencil, caraway seed and smoky oak on the nose. Elegant and fresh, with claret-like texture and weight and nicely restrained sweetness. Finishes with suave tannins and subtle, slow-building persistence. At a relatively modest 13.2% alcohol, this can't match the '98 for sheer ripeness and density, but it stylish juice." (08/2001)

1998 Ceretto Barbaresco Bricco Asili
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Ceretto Barbaresco Bricco Asili. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The aromatically complex, medium to full-bodied, dark garnet-colored 1998 Barbaresco Bricco Asili-Bricco Asili offers intense aromas of soy, black cherries, tobacco, spice box, licorice, and incense. With ripe but noticeable tannin and excellent length, this potentially outstanding Barolo needs several more years of cellaring." (10/2001)

Only shows hints of its full range, with licorice, incense, graphite and mocha flavors fluttering in the background. Has an iron-clad structure, with a long finish that shows great cut and grip. Wine Spectator: "Aromas of chocolate, berry and flowers follow through to full-bodied palate, with firm and velvety tannins and a long, long finish. This is a muscular wine that slowly builds on your palate. Slightly funky, but I like it. Needs lots of bottle age. Excellent Certan de May. Best after 2010." (03/2003)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP, 92WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A behemoth Cabernet Sauvignon is the stern, tannic, concentrated 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (13.5% alcohol). Full-bodied, but closed, with gorgeously pure black fruits, powerful, loamy, earthy scents along with fruit and extract, this wine also needs 5-6 years of cellaring, and should easily last through the first 2-3 decades of the next century." Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona "Pianrosso" Brunello di Montalcino (94RP, 93W&S, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna di Pianrosso is a dark, viscous wine that swirls around the inside of the glass with evident weight and heft. The bouquet is similarly stacked tall with thick renditions of teriyaki sauce, soya, barbecue smoke, crushed granite and chopped herb. Vigna di Pianrosso delivers the proverbial iron first in a velvet glove thanks to its lively, streamlined mouthfeel. Bright acidity keeps the wine on its toes. Decant three hours or more prior to serving. Drink: 2014-2026. (ML)" (02/2014)

1996 Clerico "Pajana" Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1996 Clerico "Pajana" Barolo (93RP, 93ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "1996 Barolo Pajana—The intense 1996 Pajana is another terrific effort from Clerico. It shows notes of super-ripe fruit, smoke and tar on the nose, along with complex sensations of licorice, tobacco, prunes, and plums on the palate, with notable length in a massive, dense style. This will require a few more years to be at its most expressive. (AG-In the Cellar)" (01/2006)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Réservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Also brilliant, the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve is full-bodied and concentrated, with classic Pegau wildness, beef blood, saddle leather and garrigue all emerging from the glass. Slightly lighter in color and weight when compared to the 2003, it’s showing some maturity and can be consumed anytime, but will without a doubt continue to evolve gracefully for another decade or more.
