2014 Robert Sinskey Carneros Vin Gris of Pinot Noir

From Robert Sinskey's certified organic vineyards in Carneros, this Vin Gris of Pinot Noir is a rosé made the right way. Grapes were hand-harvested at night before being whole cluster pressed and vinified as rosé from start-to-finish rather than being bled off of a vat of crushed grapes destined to be a red. Fine Pinot Noir fruit from an excellent estate vineyard is dedicated to this limited bottling, and the results are never disappointing. From the winery: "This Vin Gris of Pinot Noir has a luminosity that cannot be pinned down with one or two descript... Read More »

2014 Copain "Tous Ensemble" Anderson Valley Rosé

From the winery: "With a gorgeous hue of pale pink, our 2014 Rosé jumps out of the glass with crisp red fruit flavors. The supple texture is backed by a vibrant freshness and appealing acidity, making this a wonderfully versatile food wine. The 2014 vintage started dry but abundant February rain came just in time to break the winter draught. Warm spring temperatures encouraged an early budbreak that kept vineyard development ahead of schedule through the entire season. Our harvest was condensed beginning September 3rd and concluding on September 24th. Fo... Read More »

2013 Bedrock Wine Company "Ode to Lulu" Old Vine Rosé Top Pick!
2013 Bedrock Wine Company "Ode to Lulu" Old Vine Rosé

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale orange. An assertively perfumed bouquet evokes raspberry, blood orange and Asian spices, with an intense floral quality and zesty minerality adding complexity. Dry and precise on the palate, offering sappy red berry, citrus fruit and floral flavors and a jolt of white pepper. Spicy and linear on the long, incisive finish, which leaves red fruit and floral notes behind. (ST)" (6/2014)91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Clearly one of the greatest roses I have tasted over the last few years, Bedrock’s 2013 Ode to Lulu ranks alongside some of the fabulous dry roses made by Domaine de la M ...Read More »

2014 Bedrock Wine Company "Ode to Lulu" Rosé

From the winery: "Like the last few years, this rosé comes from vines planted prior to 1940 (or perhaps we should say prior to FDR's third term). Picked specifically for rosé, at lower potential alcohol and whole-cluster pressed, this pale and perfumed rosé belies its lighter color and has plenty of density. It bears a strong resemblance to the 2010 and 2011, both of which are still showing nicely now. The backbone of the wine is the ancient Mourvedre--with all of its coniferous perfume and spice--with dashes of Cemetary Vineyard Carignane for salty crun... Read More »

2014 Red Car Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir Rosé

From the winery: "The wine is bone dry at 12.7% alcohol, in a dashingly light shade of pale melon-pink and with an aromatic pro le of tangerine oil, pink grapefruit, and bing cherries. Cool-climate West Sonoma Coast vineyards give the wine its hallmark style, with the biodynamically farmed Bybee Vineyard in Sebastopol Hills making up the backbone for this wine." From Stephen Tanzer for the 2013 vintage: "Extremely pale pink. High-pitched strawberry and citrus zest scents show good clarity and a spicy note of white pepper. Light-bodied, emphatically dry c... 2014 Banshee Sonoma County Rosé of Pinot Noir

90 points Antonio Galloni: "Light peach skin color. Fresh tangerine and peach aromas show a hint of white pepper. Juicy and seamless on the palate, offering zesty citrus and pit fruit flavors that put on weight with air. Lingers with very good spicy intensity on the finish, which leaves a refreshingly bitter peach pit note behind." (3/2015) K&L Notes: From a relatively young project that just keeps impressing us, for flavor and quality, year on year. The nose on this fresh, pink wine is full of fresh fruit and lively berry aromas. Not too sweet, it has a great lifted floral character on the pal... Read More »

2014 Heitz Cellar Napa Valley Grignolino Rosé

The rule around the Heitz house has long been, the rosé must be ready by Easter! Wine enthusiasts have shared the Heitz Family's affection for this unique wine since 1961. The Grignolino (pronounced green-o-lean-o) Rosé is produced with a northern Italian varietal known in the Piedmont region as the "little strawberry." The original vineyard, since replanted to the Heitz home ranch, was called by its former owner, "The Only One." This rosé is typically fruity and enticing, but very dry on the palate, just the thing for spring salads with goat cheese, or ... Read More »

2014 Arnot-Roberts "Luchsinger Vineyard" Lake County Touriga Nacional Rosé

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar for the 2012 vintage: "Pale orange. A wild, intensely perfumed bouquet evokes red berries, potpourri and tarragon, with smoke and mineral overtones. On the palate, sappy redcurrant and blood orange flavors are complemented by a deeper note of licorice that sneaks in on the back half. Finishes tangy and incisive, with the floral element echoing." 2014 Brick and Mortar Napa Valley Rosé of Pinot Noir

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "* Editors' Choice * This is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in two unlikely places in the Napa Valley: the Foss Valley near Atlas Peak and Spring Mountain. There is incredible deliciousness going on in this ever-so-lightly hued wine that is vibrantly crisp in grapefruit rind and earthy cranberry and raspberry. With the slightest salinity on the back palate, it remains thirst-quenching and memorable from start to finish." (6/2015)

2014 Donkey & Goat "Isabel's Cuvée" Mendocino County Grenache Gris Rosé

From the winery: "Our much anticipated pink wine made from 100+ year old Grenache Gris vines. This year we made 50% like a white wine (whole cluster press to neutral French Oak barrels) and 50% was de-stemmed and left to soak on the skins for 24 hours in an open top wood vat before pressing and then on to neutral barrels. Spontaneous fermentation occurred in barrel followed by naturally occurring malolactic fermentation. We bottled unfined and unfiltered on February 23, 2015. Strawberry, tangerine and melon excite the senses for what follows. A moment t... Read More »

2014 Palmina "Botasea" Santa Barbara County Rosato

A blend of Sangiovese, Barbera and Dolcetto, this blend was created by Chyrstal Clifton (wife of winemaker Steve Clifton of Palmina and Brewer Clifton) to raise awareness of breast cancer. As she says "Think Pink. Drink Pink". From the winery, "If a wine could embody structure, energy and passion it would be Botasea. This beautiful rosato is Chrystal's personal project and her first wine that introduced Steve to her passion for winemaking. Made from Grenache and Mourvédre grown in Spur Ranch’s limestone rich clays and Grenache and Cinsault from the granitic bluffs above the Arroyo Seco River. Picked below 22 brix, with bright natural acidity. Fermented in several lots with some native and some cultured yeasts. The Arroyo Seco appellation is comprised mainly of alluvial deposits from the Ventana Range. The Cedar Lane Vineyard, on a mesa overlooking the river, is well protected from the Salinas Valley breezes, which is important for the shy-setting Viognier grape. Rhone whites from this regi... From Robert Parker's "Value Issue": "Another good value includes the 2007 Grenache Rose, a light pink-colored wine with loads of strawberry and framboise-like fruit offered in a medium-bodied, refreshing style. It is meant to be consumed over the next 8-12 months." (08/08) Grapes for this beautifully fresh rosé are hand selected each year for their perfect flavor profile. 2011 Stephen & Walker - Trust Winery Limited Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah

Connoisseurs Guide: "A curious and unconventional mix of chocolate, cherries, citrus, and chalk steers this one well off the expected path, and ample acidity, obvious heat and nominal tannin converge to effectively push any real fruit from the stage. The wine comes with more ragged edges than it does promise, and its scarce fruity heart warns against hopeful keeping." (6/2013) Wine Enthusiast: "Immediately telegraphs its Petite Sirah-ness in the midnight black color, dense tannins and extracted blackberry jam and chocolate flavors. It would be a rustic wine, except for the beautifully-sculpted ...Read More »
