2006 Terralsole Brunello di Montalcino (Elsewhere $55)

93 points James Suckling: "Very pretty, rich and subtle flavors of dried fruits such as sultanas, with a delicate coffee note. Full and silky with a long, long finish. Lots going on here. Drink now, but it will improve for many years to come." (7/2011)92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Brunello is the perfect winter wine to enjoy by a roaring fire with friends or a romantic partner. This expression from Terralsole is particularly well suited to this happy fate thanks to its silky, soft nature, firm tannins, spice aromas and bursting fruit tones. (ML)" (4/2011)91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is an attractive, fleshy w ...Read More »

2006 Valdicava "Madonna del Piano" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

100 points James Suckling: "I tasted this about a year ago at the winery and I was blown away. This time I tasted it in a blind tasting in Tuscany and it stood above the rest. Amazing aromas of blueberries and flowers, with black truffles and pie. Foie gras, mushrooms and white truffles too. Powerful, with great depth of gorgeous fruit and ultra-fine tannins. It fills your mouth with fruit and ripe tannins. Complex and long. A breathtaking wine. Truly glorious. Better in 2015." (2/2012)98 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2012* This beautiful riserva shows enormous thickness and blackness, ...Read More »

2006 Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a pretty, mid-weight offering graced with crushed flowers, dried cherries, spices and sweet herbs. Menthol, licorice and roses add complexity on the high-toned, feminine finish. Already pretty approachable, the estate’s 2006 Brunello looks to be an excellent choice for near and mid-term drinking. The Brunello spent 36 months in large Slavonian and French oak casks. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024. (AG)" (5/2011)90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Brunello shows very nice balance with sweet aromas of cherry, bright fruit, almond paste and Christmas sp ...Read More »

2006 Il Poggione "Vigna Paganelli" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Il Poggione "Vigna Paganelli" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (OWC - 97RP, 96WE, 94ST, 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli is huge, powerful and totally implosive. The seductive allure of the 2007 is nowhere to be found. Instead, the 2006 is built on a serious spine of formidable tannin and dark red/black fruit. Hints of tar, licorice, rose petals and tobacco inform the powerful, virile finish. The 2006 is going to require considerable patience, but it is clearly a jewel of a wine, even at this early stage. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2046.(AG)" (04/2012)
