2003 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 98RP, 91WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This inky purple-colored wine has an extraordinary nose of sweet black cherry jam intermixed with licorice, spice box, and cedar. It has sensational richness, but the purity, elegance, and overall nuance of this wine are what set it apart and give it a very distinctive character all its own. This is a fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon and another terrific 2003 that can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 or more years. (RP)" (12/2006)

2003 Ridge "Jimsomare" Santa Cruz Mountains Zinfandel
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Ridge "Jimsomare" Santa Cruz Mountains Zinfandel. The five-hundred-acre Jimsomare Ranch, located between 1300' and 2000' on Monte Bello Ridge, is one of Ridge's earliest grape sources. First cultivated in the late eighteen-hundreds by the Alsatian Pierre Klein, this prime viticultural land has been in San Francisco's Schwabacher family for seventy years; Ridge took over farming in 1996 under the terms of a thirty-year lease. The Cabernet from this property is largely included in the Monte Bello bottling now, and the Zin enjoys a similar pedigree from the small block of nineteenth-century vines which have produced many intense and distinctive wines.

Of the 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. Full-bodied a

2003 Feudi di San Gregorio "Serpico" Irpinia
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Feudi di San Gregorio "Serpico" Irpinia (92RP, 91WE, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 is a fascinating Serpico. The wine boasts impressive concentration in its dark, rich fruit. This is an incredibly primary Serpico, with little in the way of tertiary development. Ideally, it is best left alone for another few years, but readers fortunate enough to own this are in for a thrilling ride once the wine opens up a bit. Today it remains tightly coiled but full of potential. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. (AG)" (08/2010)

2003 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Latour, Pauillac (100JS, 100RP, (96-98WE), 98WS, 97ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Administrator Frederic Engerer says the 2003 is “the sexiest Latour ever made.” He also described it as “the 1990 without any brettanomyces.” I loved this wine from the barrel and was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a small quantity, enjoying every bottle I have had. A profound example of Chateau Latour, the full-bodied, opulent 2003 is already performing well at age eleven, which is somewhat atypical. The pH is a relatively high 3.8, which also indicates low acidity. The wine is very ripe, but not over-ripe, offers great freshness, and lots of creme de cassis and camphor as well as hints of blackberries and chocolate. Dense, thick and unctuously textured, this staggering Latour is undeniably the most sumptuous, opulent wine made here since the 1982 or 1961. Drink it over the next two decades. " (08/2014)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Cliff Lede Vineyards "Poetry" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 95RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This beautiful, pure stylish wine (85% Cabernet, 10% Merlot, 5% Malbec) has gracefully entered its tenth year of life and is close to maturity, yet it still possesses a dense blue/purple color, medium body, and endearing notes of black raspberries, cherries and graphite. Layered and gracious in the style of a Napa version of a Margaux, this wine can be drunk with great pleasure now or cellared for at least another decade. (RP)" (06/2013)

2003 Ausone, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Ausone, St-Emilion (100RP, 96WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Amazing! The limestone soils of Ausone appear to have been the perfect foil for resisting the extreme heat and drought of June, July and August, 2003. This black/purple-colored effort boasts a glorious nose of violets, truffles, lead pencil shavings, blueberry and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied with staggering concentration, a voluptuous texture, low acidity and well-integrated, melted tannins, this deep, multidimensional, profound Bordeaux is beginning to drink exceptionally well. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Montrose, St-Estèphe (99RP, 97JS, 96ST, 95WE, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The blend in 2003 was 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot (a very high percentage), 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine, unlike most 2003s, has a freshness and liveliness provided by their extraordinary terroir. This wine can be drunk now. It has a dense bluish/purple color to the rim and an extraordinary nose of blueberries and mulberries, with blacker cassis and blackberry entering the picture. Scorched earth, spice and licorice are all present in this magnificent, full-bodied, opulent wine that is very Montrose, very classic and somewhat atypical of the vintage. 2003 Monbousquet, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Monbousquet, St-Emilion (93RP, 90ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a mixture of sand, gravel, and clay soils, this unheralded terroir produces wines well-above its pedigree thanks to the extraordinary efforts of proprietors Chantal and Gerard Perse. The wines are given a 4- to 5-week maceration in both stainless steel and oak, and are aged sur-lie in new oak. The dark ruby/purple-colored 2003 offers up notes of smoky meats, melted licorice, jammy black cherries, spice box, earth, and cedar. This plump, fleshy, sexy, unfined, unfiltered wine represents a classic blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. 2003 Pavie, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Pavie, St-Emilion (99RP, 96WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "At its release, the 2003 Pavie was somewhat controversial in wine tasting circles, but eleven years later it is obviously a great classic. Its deep purple color is accompanied by notes of vanillin, lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, plums, black currants and kirsch. Full-bodied, youthful and rich with terrific purity and texture as well as a striking opulence, its 40+-second finish, stunning purity and wonderful perfume suggest it can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years." 2003 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Madrona Ranch, which is largely Cabernet Sauvignon, possesses a freshness that almost belies the vintage character. Its dense purple color is just beginning to reveal some garnet. The nose exhibits abundant floral notes intermixed with notions of blueberries, black raspberries and licorice-infused cassis. Graceful, elegant, and close to full maturity, it is drinking beautifully, displaying secondary nuances, a supple, full-bodied texture and a lush, layered mouthfeel. There is not a bit of aggressiveness, and the tannins, wood and alcohol are all beautifully integrated. As one might expect, this is one of the vintage’s superstars. 2003 Bellevue-Mondotte, St-Emilion
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Bellevue-Mondotte, St-Emilion (94RP, 92WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even in a vintage such as 2003 there are wines that are youthful, unevolved and still in need of bottle age. The 2003 Bellevue Mondotte is one of those wines. From a tiny (5 acres) estate owned by Gerard Perse, this blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits youthful aromas of blue and black fruits, chalk dust, lead pencil shavings and Christmas fruitcake. Full, ripe and moderately tannic, it requires another 3-5 years of bottle age and could turn out to be one of the longest-lived wines of the vintage, lasting another 25-30 years. (RP)" (08/2014)

This intense, voluptuously textured, full-bodied St.-Julien possesses low acidity and ripe tannin. 2003 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Absolutely superb, this 2003 is drinking beautifully. This blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot from the famous hillside Eisele Vineyard in northeast Napa Valley tips the scales at 14.5% natural alcohol. Gorgeously fresh black currant and black raspberry notes intermixed with spring flowers and forest floor jump from the glass from one of the most aromatically complex wines of the vintage. Medium to full-bodied with sweet fruit, velvety, melted, integrated tannin, a round, generous mouthfeel and no evidence of oak, this is a classy, elegant as well as substantial beauty that continues to age well. It may even be superior to Araujo’s 2002, which, on paper, is a better vintage. The seductive, alluring 2003 should remain at this level for another 5-8 years, but there is no reason to defer your gratification. Bravo! (

2003 Seavey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2003 Seavey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (97RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the blockbuster wines of the vintage, Seavey’s 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon was made with consulting assistance from Philippe Melka. It spent 19 months in 50% new French oak prior to bottling. A big, robust, exuberant, powerful Conn Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from dry-farmed hillside vineyards and extremely low yields, it achieved a lofty 15.4% natural alcohol (which is not the least bit noticeable in the wine’s flavor profile). Truffle, new saddle leather, black currant, spice box and Grave-like scorched earth and barbecue notes are present in this full-bodied, broodingly rich, primordial Cabernet Sauvignon. It possesses plenty of tannin, but also enormous, luxurious fruit and body. This 2003 should hit its peak in 5-6 years and last at least two decades. (The 1990 and 1991 Seaveys are still young wines!) (RP)" (06/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 93ST, 93WS, 92CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the great so-called 'first growths' of Napa is Shafer’s 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon from their Stags Leap vineyard known as Hillside Select. This has been one of the top dozen or so wines in every vintage for over 15 years. A big wine at 14.9% alcohol, it is aged an atypically long time of 32 months in 100% new French oak, but at ten years of age, no oak is present. It is an utterly perfect wine, surpassing almost everything else made in 2003! It possesses everything one could desire in a Cabernet Sauvignon -- minerality, flowers, creme de cassis, blackberries, velvety tannins, a skyscraper texture, perfect balance and integration between the acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood, all well-concealed by the luxurious nature of this great wine. The finish is endless in this prodigious offering from a great family of grape growers

Of the 2002 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2002 Monte Bello Proprietary Red is a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. It tastes as if it hasn’t changed since I first sampled it in late 2003 and then again in bottle two years later. The color is healthy ruby/purple, and the wine displays some dusty, oaky, vanillin notes that jump out of the glass along with a touch of white chocolate as well as red and black currants and hints of cedar and forest floor." Bid on this 10-bottle lot of 2003 Frédéric Magnien Pommard 1er Cru "Les Grands Épenots" (94RP, (90-92BH)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As was reported in my article on the 2003s of southern Burgundy (Issue #158), Pommard produced some of the vintage’s finest efforts. In other words, Frederic Magnien knew what he was doing when he served his 2003 Pommard Grands Epenots after all his premier crus from the Cote de Nuits. This immense wine boasts a nose of black fruits and spices. Full-bodied, it is hugely concentrated, powerful, and chunky. Its flavor profile, composed of spice-laden blackberries and dark cherries, slathers the palate, lingering for more than 45 seconds. Somewhat uncivilized at present, this brawny, bulky wine will require cellaring. Projected maturity: 2010-2020. (PR)" (08/2005)

A stunningly opulent wine with a dense purple color, the 2005 possesses a beautiful perfume of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, creosote, and graphite, full body, silky but noticeable tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and a stunning, 45+-second finish.
