1999 Pierre Gaillard "Les Viallieres" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Pierre Gaillard "Les Viallieres" Côte-Rôtie (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I reported last year when the wines were still in barrel, the 1999 Cote Roties are awesome. The 1999 Cote Rotie Les Viallieres Reserve (20% Viognier included) offers up a potent perfume of violets, spring flowers, sausage, black fruits, and vanilla. It is tannic as well as full-bodied, dense, backward, and long. This wine is less approachable and civilized than Le Cret. It will be drinkable between 2005-2016. (RP)" (04/2002)

1998 Domaine René Engel Vosne-Romanee
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Domaine René Engel Vosne-Romanee. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A fully mature nose is displaying full-on secondary aromas with good spice and earth nuances adding additional complexity that the delicious and attractively vibrant middle weight flavors also display. There is good detail and a light touch of minerality to the largely resolved, balanced and lingering finish. For my taste this is drinking now as well as it's going to though with that said, there is no particular rush to drink up. In sum, this is a lovely villages Vosne." (12/2013)

Wine Spectator: "Rich, with smoky hints of roasted almond and toasted brioche, this crystalline Champagne offers a finely detailed mousse that carries the firm, citrusy acidity and flavors of patisserie apple, spun honey and tangy black cherry, accented by subtle, aromatic hints of ground cumin and clove, bergamot and chamomile. Disgorged August 2013. Drink now through 2027. " (12/2014)

1978 Taittinger Collection "Vasarely" Brut Champagne
Bid on this bottle of 1978 Taittinger Collection "Vasarely" Brut Champagne. This is the debut vintage of Taittinger's Collection series, originally released in 1983. The goal of this collection is to unite Champagne and art by commissioning artists to design special edition bottles. This stunning bottle's design comes from optical artist Victor Vaserely, as the wine's name indicates. Making this cuvée all the more rare, the 1978 harvest was one of the smallest in the history of Champagne since the pre-war period (78 million bottles). This highly-collectible Champagne was produced from 40% Chardonnay grapes from the best vineyards in the Côte de Blancs and 60% Pinot Noir harvested from the best vineyards on the Montagne de Reims.

This is a big, structured, muscular Echézeaux with solid density that is almost painfully intense. Not especially subtle at this point but everything is here to enjoy a long life and it offers excellent potential." (01/2002)

1999 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (95RP, 94WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Lafite Rothschild sports an engraved '1999' on the bottle along with an eclipse to mark that significant historical event of August, 1999. It is a quintessential offering from Lafite Rothschild. This prodigious wine is both elegant and intensely flavored, and almost diaphanous in its layers that unfold with no heaviness. An opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by a complex bouquet of lead pencil, graphite, cedar, creme de cassis, toast, and vanilla. It is medium-bodied, with extravagant layers of richness yet little weight, and a finish that is all sweetness, ripeness, and harmony. This extraordinary Lafite increasingly appears to be a modern day clone of the majestic 1953. A mere one-third of the crop made it into the grand vin!" (04/2002)

An incredible array of aromas on the nose: blackberry, black cherry, tobacco, espresso, leather, black olive and loam. The palate is absolutely seamless from first impression to finish, effortlessly building layers of complexity in the mouth and leading to a very long, earth and spice finish. I can’t see how this could possibly be improvement so have no alternative but concede perfection. Drink now to 2045+. Tasted March 2009. (LPB)" (05/2009)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Pierre Usseglio "Cuvée de Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 1,800 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Mon Aieul (100% tank-aged Grenache). It represents an awesome naked/virginal expression of Grenache from three vineyard parcels planted in sand, clay, and limestone soils. After tasting this wine on five separate occasions, I can state with certainty, it has the most saturated color of any Mon Aieul produced to date. Moreover, its perfume of blueberry liqueur, black raspberries, licorice, roasted meat juices, and lavender is incredible. Full-bodied power, a multilayered mouthfeel, tremendous purity, and awesome concentration put this wine in a class by itself. This sensational Chateauneuf du Pape is still very young, and 3-4 years of cellaring is required. It should be a modern day legend and last for nearly two decades. (RP)" (10/2009)

1982 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Margaux, Margaux (98RP, 97JS, 96ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Consistently scoring between 98-100, the superb 1982 Margaux may be slightly bigger, bolder, and more masculine than vintages produced over the last 15-20 years. Its dark plum/purple color is followed by notes of melted tar intermixed with sweet cassis and floral underpinnings. Very full-bodied and dense for a Chateau Margaux, with a slight rusticity to the tannins, it boasts blockbuster power, richness, and impressive aromatics. It appears set for another 30-40 years of life." (06/2009)

Creamy-sweet but with terrific inner-mouth energy thanks to vibrant, harmonious acidity. This has volume and thickness of texture that reminded me of some outstanding older vintages of this wine, which is from vines planted in the 1920s." (10/2005)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Ponsot Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru (94RP, 93BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Ponsot: A striking nose of dark plum and fresh berries, bacon fat, and black tea in Ponsot’s 2007 Griotte-Chambertin has its direct counterpart on a polished, expansive, sappy palate that leads to an arrestingly gripping yet at the same time uncannily buoyant finish. Persistent smokiness, berry tartness, animal savor, palpable underlying chalkiness, and saliva-inducing salinity make for compelling complexity and inducement to take the next sip. The 2004 acidity comes through in the sweet cassis flavors, supported at the back by dry tannins. 2000 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2000 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac (94RP, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Grand Puy Lacoste is even better than such recent vintages as 2005 and 2009. A broad, classic, large-scaled effort, it boasts a deep blue/purple color as well as tell-tale notes of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, flowers, and unsmoked tobacco. Powerful, full-bodied flavors have shed a lot of tannin, but they remain relatively youthful. This is a young adolescent, broadly flavored Pauillac with an enticing texture as well as abundant richness and fruit. It can be enjoyed now, but promises to hit its peak in five years, and last for two decades." (06/2010)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Dujac Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Boxwood and oregano pungency as well as intimations of tart cherry and rhubarb on the nose of Dujac’s 2007 Morey-St.-Denis 1er Cru fit into an overall pattern of invigoration, with black pepper, salt, an oregano complimenting refreshing, juicy brightness of fruit. At the same time, though, as with many 2007s, three is a faintly caramelized, torrified note not entirely integrated, so that I am left wondering how this wine’s personality will shake-out over the next 3-5 years. There is a lot of complexity here and certainly impressive sheer cling. (DS)" (06/2010)

1989 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Margaux, Margaux (97WS, 90RP). The charcoal note makes an encore, with a lovely twinge of old-school character holding the finish. Of the 1999 Daniel Bocquenet Nuits-St-Georges "Aux Saint Julien",Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Nuits-St.-Georges Aux St.-Juliens has blackberry aromas that lead to a medium to full-bodied, intense character. This foursquare, juicy, and dense wine is chewy-textured. It is crammed with black cherries, blackberries, Asian spices, and cassis. It is tannic, yet has the density of fruit to overcome its structured personality. (PR)" (06/2001)

2005 Joseph Drouhin Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Joseph Drouhin Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (94BH, 90RP, 90ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This has turned out to be even slightly better than my already positive initial review (see herein) with its now lightly oaky nose of warm earth¡ cassis and notably ripe and highly complex crushed berry aromas. The impressive depth of the nose continues onto the highly refined¡ silky and solidly well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors that are gorgeously rich and generous yet notably refined¡ all wrapped in a hugely long finish. This is a classic Charmes that is built more along the lines of finesse and understatement than robust power. Moreover¡ while clearly still on the way up¡ with air it can easily be enjoyed now. In a word¡ terrific. Tasted several times recently with consistent notes. (Drink starting 2017)" (04/2012)

1999 Mommessin Clos de Tart Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Mommessin Clos de Tart Grand Cru (90BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The oak that sat atop the fruit for so long has now almost completely integrated, allowing the relatively fresh aromas of black cherry, violets and earth hints to have center stage. The supple yet detailed middle weight plus flavors are attractively vibrant and restrained while culminating in a moderately austere finish where the mouth coating tannins are still noticeably firm and ever so slightly dry, which may be due to wood tannins. Of the 1999 Domaine Carre-Courbin Volnay 1er Cru "Clos de la Cave des Ducs",Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The saturated dark ruby-colored 1999 Volnay Clos de La Cave Des Ducs has a mouth-watering cookie dough and over-ripe plum-scented nose. Medium to full-bodied and chewy-textured, this is an intense, powerful, layered wine with rich blackberry, cassis, and licorice flavors. It is dense, thick, and muscular. (PR)" (06/2001)

1998 Domaine de Marcoux Châteaunuef-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Domaine de Marcoux Châteaunuef-du-Pape (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape's peppery, plum, cherry liqueur, and cassis-scented nose is followed by opulent, long, open-knit flavors crammed with glycerin and alcohol. The high levels of richness and glycerin obscure much of the wine's structure and tannin. This sexy, voluptuously-textured, creamy 1998 should drink gorgeously for 10-15+ years. " (10/2000)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96WS, 95RP, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "One of the riper, more exotic wines of the vintage, this gushes with black currant, fig and blackberry fruit, all of which has melded together and is starting to show a corrupt edge, while the sweet bacon, spice, mesquite and clove-studded blood orange notes fill out the background. The long, very juicy finish is multilayered and supported by fresh acidity. Drink now through 2027." (09/2007)

Of the 2003 Gerard Raphet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Lavaux St. Jacques",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Good full ruby-red. Lovely rose and violet floral perfume lifts the aromas of blackberry, brown spices and mocha. Sweet to the point of confectionery but not hugely creamy in texture; the wine's liqueur-like fruit shows a briary quality. Finishes with building tannins and a slight edge of acidity. This big boy needs time but has all the elements to make a superb bottle." (03/2006)

1990 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (96RP, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Interestingly, a bottle of 1990 Lafite Rothschild I pulled from my cellar for a video blog on my web site was still buttoned down, tight, and even with extended decanting was not showing as much as I would have hoped. However, a bottle tasted, of all places, in Seoul, Korea in February, was only a few points short of perfection. That amazing performance motivated me to pull another bottle out of my cellar and follow it over the course of two days. Sure enough, by the second day the wine was roaring from the glass. The 1990 Lafite has turned out far better than my early assessment. While it still possesses some firmness, and performs like a late adolescent in terms of its evolution, it boasts gorgeous aromas of cedar, tobacco leaf, cassis, and lead pencil shavings. The explosive aromas are followed by a fleshy, full-bodied wine that should hit its peak in 5-8 years, and last for 25-30 mo

1953 Haut-Brion, Graves
Bid on this bottle of 1953 Haut-Brion, Graves (95RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Although it has been fully mature since its release, it has retained the hallmark, singed leather, tobacco leaf, super-ripe fragrance that makes Haut-Brion so distinctive. The wine is extremely soft, revealing considerable amber and rust at the edge, but it still possesses rich, creamy fruit and medium to full body." (10/1994)

1996 Léoville-Las Cases, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Léoville-Las Cases, St-Julien (98RP, 96ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A profound Leoville Las Cases, it is one of the great modern day wines of Bordeaux. This wine's hallmark remains a sur-maturite (over-ripeness) of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. Yet the wine has retained its intrinsic classicism, symmetry, and profound potential for complexity and elegance. The black/purple color is followed by a spectacular nose of cassis, cherry liqueur, pain grille, and minerals. It is powerful and rich on the attack, with beautifully integrated tannin, massive concentration, yet no hint of heaviness or disjointedness. As this wine sits in the glass it grows in stature and richness. It is a remarkable, seamless, palate-staining, and extraordinarily elegant wine - the quintessential St.-Julien. Despite the sweetness of the tannin, I would recommend cellaring this wine for 7-8 years. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2035." (04/1999)

2010 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos" (97BH, 95RP, 95ST, 94W&S, 93WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An exceptionally fresh and intensely floral nose also offers up notes of lime, lemon, stone and iodine that are trimmed in a discreet touch of wood. There is massive richness to the concentrated and big-bodied flavors that are breathtakingly powerful and intense, all wrapped in a palate drenching and extraordinarily long finish. As impressive as all of these characteristics are, it's the sheer depth of underlying material that is almost hard to believe. Like the Preuses and the Valmur, this is a 'wow' wine that should develop for at least a decade though because of all of the dry extract, it will be approachable much sooner. In a word, brilliant. Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2000 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (97RP, 96WS, 95JS, 95WE, 94ST, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years. (RP)" (08/2011)
