2013 Aubert "Lauren Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Aubert "Lauren Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay ((98-100RP), 97AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Named after Mark Aubert’s daughter, the 2013 Chardonnay Lauren Estate (1,000 cases produced) is made from Old Wente clones as well as the Mt. Eden clone planted in Goldridge soils. This stony, mineral-laced, crisp yet full-bodied effort comes across as a California version of a Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne. Citrus oil, tangerine skin, orange blossom, liquified rock, white flower and quince notes along with great fruit, a full-bodied, stunning texture, and a long finish with no noticeable oak suggest this prodigious Chardonnay will drink well for 10+ years. At the end of our tasting, Mark Aubert conducted a mini-vertical of the Lauren Estate Chardonnay starting with the 2009 and going back to 2003. At 11 years old, I rated the 2003 96 points, and it remains a lively, exuberant, fresh, stunning wine. All of them were fabulous, with my favorite being the 2

2008 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru "Vaulorent-Fourchaume"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru "Vaulorent-Fourchaume" (95RP, 94BH, 93ST, 92WE, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fevre’s 2008 Chablis Vaulorent – which, following my argumentative recommendation mentioned in issue 186, has been labeled without the name “Fourchaume” – lives up to the estate’s long-standing characterization of this site as their “eighth grand cru.” Blueberry and raspberry distillate as well as fresh lime, grapefruit and crushed stone both intrigue and invigorate on the nose, impressions reinforced on a palate that combines real richness of texture as well as succulence of fruit with bright acidity, citrus rind pungency, berry skin tartness, and a depth of marine mineral nuances. Vibrantly interactive and faintly sizzling in finish, this practically takes your breath away, and should continue dazzling for a decade or more. And given that this isn’t priced as a grand cru, it represents a remarkable Chablis buying opportunity. Pe

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clavoillon" ((88-91ST), 90BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale, green-tinged yellow. Reduced, meaty aromas of lime, flowers, vanilla, spices, flint and truffle. Round and broad but with good firm acid spine. This, too, is a bit diffuse today and in need of more verve. Finishes with very good breadth and length. The wine's acids have not yet harmonized with the fruit. " (09/2006)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(tasted from a new barrel) Superripe but extremely closed following the recent malo; strongly minerally in character. Creamy-sweet but with terrific inner-mouth energy thanks to vibrant, harmonious acidity. This has volume and thickness of texture that reminded me of some outstanding older vintages of this wine, which is from vines planted in the 1920s." (10/2005)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos" (97BH, 95RP, 95ST, 94W&S, 93WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An exceptionally fresh and intensely floral nose also offers up notes of lime, lemon, stone and iodine that are trimmed in a discreet touch of wood. There is massive richness to the concentrated and big-bodied flavors that are breathtakingly powerful and intense, all wrapped in a palate drenching and extraordinarily long finish. As impressive as all of these characteristics are, it's the sheer depth of underlying material that is almost hard to believe. Like the Preuses and the Valmur, this is a 'wow' wine that should develop for at least a decade though because of all of the dry extract, it will be approachable much sooner. In a word, brilliant. This fresh, satiny-textured, medium-bodied wine has a fabulous satiny mouth-feel. Honeyed minerals are intermingled with spicy plums in its deep, long character. (PR)" (02/2004)

Of the 2002 Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine Corton-Charlemange Grand Cru,Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "Aromatically quite reserved with subtle hints of green apple and pear aromas framed by a background hint of wood spice. The presently backward flavors are wonderfully precise and delineated, brimming with fine minerality and underpinned by ripe, racy, prominent acidity on the long, intense backend. This is a fine combination of weight, power and elegance and while this is tight today, I suspect it will open up and harmonize relatively quickly." (07/2004)

Candied citrus, wet rocks, Granny Smith apples, white peach and honeysuckle notes are found in this full-bodied, prodigious Chardonnay with crisp acidity buttressing the viscous, full-throttle style. Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros "Côte de Bouguerots" ((94-95RP), 95WE, 94ST, 93BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From this cru’s steep, riverside slopes, the Fevre 2006 Chablis Bougros Cote de Bouguerots reveals its oak in lanolin, toasted almond, and spice aromas, along with notes of chalk dust, sweet lime, and heady, lily-like floral perfume. With enveloping richness, luscious juiciness, and flattering creaminess, yet underlain by a vivid sense of crushed stone, this saturates the palate so completely and intensely and with such a palpable sense of extract, that the finishing stain seems almost severe. This remarkably concentrated and polished wine should be worth following for 15 or more years. The 2005, too, is superb. (DS)" (10/2008)

Chewy, tactile and juicy, with compelling sappiness to the steely flavors of menthol and liquid stone. A great mineral expression with the sheer density to prevent it from coming off as hard. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Preuses" (OWC - 94BH, (93-94RP), 92ST, 90WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fevre owns or controls nearly one quarter of the acreage in Preuses. Their 2006 Chablis Preuses marries fruit from a southeast-facing parcel just above the Cote de Bouguerots and conducive to 'cool' fruit and overt minerality, with a southwest-facing parcel inherently inclined toward richness that was harvested at hugely high ripeness even before this year’s ban de vendange. From its aroma through its impressively dense and expansive palate display, through its lingering finish, this sensually extravagant expression of Preuses (in a manner distinctly reminiscent of Vincent Dauvissat’s) is totally suffused with the savory salinity and sweetness of shrimp and lobster shell reduction. White peach and lime occupy a discreet position, iris and lily a more prominent one, wafting alluringly throughout. This silken-textured

2006 Jadot Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Jadot Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles ((96-97RP), 96ST, 94BH, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This superb wine should be worth following for at least 6-8 years. Jadot’s 2006 Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles immediately strikes one as remarkable restrained coming on the heels of their Batard. But the full range of complexity and subtlety on display here then begins to sink in. Hazelnut-, quince-, and yellow plum-filled pastry sauced with lime cream and garnished with flowers are underlain by an oceanic depth of brine, chalk and iodine suggestions. Richness allied with clarity and brightness are the themes as this builds on the palate to a finish of amazingly penetrating citricity yet elegance and subtle minerality whose resonance reminds me of a shell held up to one’s ear: the roar of Chevalier-Montrachet persists, even when the volume is a whisper. Surely this is also one white Burgundy you could confidently cellar for well more than a decade.

This beautiful, subtle but authoritatively flavored, full-bodied white can be enjoyed over the next 5-6 years. (RP)" (12/2013)

2012 Sine Qua Non Pearl Clutcher Chardonnay
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non Pearl Clutcher Chardonnay (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The just bottled 2012 Chardonnay Pearl Clutcher is off the charts and up there with some of Manfred’s top whites. Coming from incredibly low yields and made from 100% Bien Nacido Chardonnay (from a variety of clones, and the first time this estate has released a 100% Chardonnay), it was aged 19 months in 92% new French oak barrels. It offers a kaleidoscope of aromas and flavors, with notions of ripe orchard and caramelized fruits, lemon curd, fresh baked bread and hints of toast soaring from the glass. These 65-year-old vines produced a moderate 35 hectoliters per hectare in 2004, compared to 42 in 1999 and just 18 in 2003, according to Boillot." (09/2005)

This is an explosive wine that finishes bone dry and manages to combine impressive power with balance and focus. 2008 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru (98W&S, 97BH, 97WE, 97WS, (92-95ST)). Wine & Spirits: "Commanding beauty is rarely as subtle as this Chevalier-Montrachet, the curves of its flavor bringing the kind of emotional reaction that few wines have the power to achieve. The details of the flavor roll around in the mouth for minutes, bringing memories of moments in time - a summer sun shower, a long chord at the end of a piano concerto, Margot Fonteyn in La Bayadère. Over the top? Perhaps, but those are the bits and pieces of my notes that bring the wine back more clearly for me than the rest. It's hard to imagine a more perfect outcome for chardonnay planted on the austere limestone soils of the Montrachet hill - though this was not a perfect vintage. Perhaps its weaknesses may show with time. If so, that would be a long time, as four days of air only improve on its freshness and layered complexity. There is no better example of the brilliant fa

2011 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos (OWC - (93-96BH), (93-95RP), (92-95ST)) in original wood. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from 4 separate parcels totaling 4.11 ha, 3 of which are all at the top of the slope). This was quite closed and somewhat difficult to read but aggressive swirling grudgingly liberated ripe aromas of sea breeze, pear, lemon rind, oyster shell and mineral reduction plus an abundance of typical floral scents. The large-scaled flavors are overtly powerful and impressively concentrated as there is plenty of palate staining dry extract that also buffers the very firm acidity that supports and shapes the gorgeously precise finish. This explosively long effort possesses exquisite balance and the tightly wound flavors are going to need at least a decade to completely bloom. A knock out." (09/2012)

2006 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Folatières"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Folatières" (92ST, 91BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Sexy aromas of apricot and smoky, nutty oak, lifted by a floral topnote. Very ripe, rich and chewy, quite full for this bottling but with a mineral firmness giving it shape. Finishes with excellent length and nicely buffered alcohol. A silky, full-bodied white wine for winter drinking. (ST)" (09/2008)

2004 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" (94BH, (90-91RP), 91ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe and exceptionally fresh nose of orchard fruit, citrus and a lovely stony character that displays a soft touch of reduction highlights the big, powerful and intense flavors that possess excellent depth of material and flat out terrific complexity on the gorgeously long finish. Even with 7 years of bottle age, this remains a racehorse of a wine with firm acidity and terrific focus and as I noted in my orginal review, it can compete with the grands crus in 2004 as it definitely has that 'wow' factor. One other aspect is worth noting is that thanks to the excellent mid-palate fat, this can be enjoyed now even in magnum format though it would be a shame to lose all of the upside potential that the '04 MdT has in such abundance." 2005 Domaine Marquis de Laguiche (Joseph Drouhin) Montrachet Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Marquis de Laguiche (Joseph Drouhin) Montrachet Grand Cru (96WS, 95BH, 94ST). Wine Spectator: "Impressive for its regal presence on the palate, this white isn't showy, yet it demands your focus as it crosses the palate in layers of spring blossom, honeysuckle, citrus, hazelnut and mineral flavors. There's a vibrant structure, and the finish keeps on coming in waves. Best from 2012 through 2030." (08/2008)
