2005 Sine Qua Non "Atlantis Fe203-2c" Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Sine Qua Non "Atlantis Fe203-2c" Grenache (100AG, 97RP, 95ST, 90WS). Antonio Galloni: "The 2005 Grenache Atlantis Fe203-2a has been absolutely thrilling both times I have tasted it within the last year. A huge, vertical wine, Atlantis graces the palate with deep, voluptuous red fruit, crushed rocks, smoke, tobacco and mint. Even with all of its intensity and explosiveness, the wine remains light on its feet, with great balance and class to burn. The inclusion of whole clusters adds gorgeous lift and perfume, especially on the finish. At nearly ten years of age, the 2005 Grenache Atlantis is in a perfect spot right now and should continue to drink well for another 5-10 years, perhaps longer. " (07/2014)

2005 Grand Pontet, St-Emilion
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Grand Pontet, St-Emilion (93RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Kudos to proprietress Sophie Porquet, who also makes the sensational Cotes de Castillon, Joanin-Becot. From this 35-acre vineyard she has fashioned a sensational blend of 70% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Her finest effort since taking over this property in 1999, the 2005 boasts a saturated purple color followed by notes of ripe blackberries, black currants, licorice, incense, chocolate, and espresso. Thick, highly-extracted flavors nearly obscure the elevated tannins. This big, serious, rich claret is meant to last for three decades or more. A great wine for the vintage, it is also a sleeper of the vintage given the fact that this estate remains under most consumer’s radar. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030+. (RP)" (04/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a hot vintage and incredible any way you look at it, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has that laser-like focus of a cooler year, yet the voluptuousness and richness of a warmer year. Smoked black fruits, coffee, truffle and pen ink-like aromas and flavors all emerge from this massive, incredibly full-bodied effort and on the palate, it carries itself perfectly with a weightless, yet decadent texture, masses of polished tannin and blockbuster length. More classic and textbook than the 2007, it is every bit as good. Enjoy it over the coming two decades or more. Drink now-2033. (JD)" (06/2013)

Juicy, leanish and very fresh, but not at all underripe. There's good flesh lurking, but, like the grand vin, this is a bit austere today, even a tad spiky. 2005 Joseph Drouhin Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Joseph Drouhin Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (94BH, 90RP, 90ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This has turned out to be even slightly better than my already positive initial review (see herein) with its now lightly oaky nose of warm earth¡ cassis and notably ripe and highly complex crushed berry aromas. The impressive depth of the nose continues onto the highly refined¡ silky and solidly well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors that are gorgeously rich and generous yet notably refined¡ all wrapped in a hugely long finish. This is a classic Charmes that is built more along the lines of finesse and understatement than robust power. Moreover¡ while clearly still on the way up¡ with air it can easily be enjoyed now. In a word¡ terrific. Tasted several times recently with consistent notes. (Drink starting 2017)" (04/2012)

There is excellent energy and punch to the very fresh, vibrant and powerful medium full-bodied flavors are blessed blessed with excellent density on the mineral-driven, persistent and harmonious finish. Fresh, perfumed nose offers cherry, coffee and menthol; the ripeness here is less marked by the vintage than the Rue de Vergy. Suave, supple and sweet, but with a sappy freshness to the primary red fruit and menthol flavors. An element of minerally acidity gives shape and cut to this extract-rich wine and carries the finish. Very young and built for a slow and positive evolution in bottle. This has turned out very well. An outstanding village wine." (03/2008)

Giving up notions of creme de cassis, smoked meats, crushed rock-like minerality, pepper and even hints of bacon fat, it’s more focused and precise than the Lorraine, yet has full-bodied richness, awesome purity and perfect balance between its structure and fruit. 2005 Cliff Lede Vineyards "Poetry" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Cliff Lede Vineyards "Poetry" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 95RP, 93ST, 91WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Poetry (925 cases of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec, and the rest Petit Verdot and Merlot) is the richest of these wines. Superbly deep ruby/purple-colored with notes of blackberry, cassis, licorice, subtle smoke, and incense, this opulent wine has a plush palate, silky tannins, impressive purity, stature, and length. However, the tannins are there and the wine still tastes primary despite its enormous potential. Give it 3-4 years of bottle age and drink it over the following three decades." (12/2007)

2005 Merry Edwards "Meredith Estate" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L)
Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2005 Merry Edwards "Meredith Estate" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L) (94CG, 93WE). Connoisseurs Guide: "The pure and precise cherryish fruit that marks the best Russian River Pinots is in full evidence right from start here, and it stays the course with remarkable persistence from the wine's deep, keenly defined nose all the way through to its lengthy finish. Moderately full-bodied, very well balanced and showing a fine sense of polish and crafting, this one tempts early drinking but is structured for keeping and will improve for the next half-dozen years." The finish shows nicely buried acidity and a long mineral streak. Best from 2009 through 2025." (04/2008)

2005 Au Bon Climat "30th Vintage Bien Nacido Estate Plantings" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Au Bon Climat "30th Vintage Bien Nacido Estate Plantings" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir (92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Expansive, seductively perfumed bouquet offers redcurrant, spiced cherry, pungent herbs and flowers and a bright mineral quality. Fresh but also concentrated, displaying sweet red fruit flavors and a refreshingly bitter pomegranate quality. Silky tannins build on the extended finish, which repeats the sweet red berry flavors and lingers impressively. I really like the combination of depth and lift here. " (11/2007)
