2013 Dönnhoff Estate Riesling Trocken (Dry)

Jancis Robinson: "Bright fruit but not (too) painful acidity. Very well etched and balanced. Drink to 2017." (5/2014) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Most of all sourced in Oberhausen vineyards, so predominantly from volcanic soils, the 2013 Riesling Trocken is a clear, bright, piquant, fresh and light to medium-bodied Riesling with a straightforward character and a salty finish. It's quite characterful for an entry level. (SR)" (1/2015) Wine Spectator: "There's a strong minerally cast to the ripe apple and green pear flavors, with a languid finish that has some spicy notes." K&L Notes: Donnhoff's fresh, dry Riesling comes from 15- to 3... Read More »

2013 Dönnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Riesling Spatlese Norheimer Kirschheck offers very fine raisin and grey slate aromas on the nose, richer and riper fruit than the Leistenberg Kabinett because this is a south-facing site and -- a Spätlese. Adjacent to the Dellchen but without any volcanic elements, the wine is juicy and sensual but also pure and piquant, persistently salty and dancing, very pure and extremely sexy. Wow, this tropical juiciness here is alluring. (SR)" (1/2015)

2012 Emrich-Schönleber "Lenz" Riesling (Previously $23)

Jancis Robinson: "The Lenz does not bother with any taste descriptors, but I would class it as borderline trocken/feinherb. Lenz is a traditional German term for spring, and with its mouthwatering grapefruit flavour supplemented by a dash of spice, you may well compare the wine to the beginning of a fine spring day -- fresh as dew and cool as the morning breeze." 2013 Gut Hermannsberg Steinterrassen Riesling (Dry)

From a late harvest and a short crop, this dry Riesling is the latest in a recent string of serious releases from this resurrected property, according to Joel Payne, writing in Vinous: "Once the pride of the nation as the State Domaine, this property on the middle stretches of the Nahe had been almost forgotten by serious wine drinkers until it was purchased in 2009 by Jens Reidel and Christine Dinse, who not only invested in this stunning estate’s vineyards and cellars but had the wisdom to hire Karsten Peter to manage them. Now called Gut Hermannsberg,... Read More »

2006 Schäfer-Fröhlich Bockenauer Felseneck Riesling Spätlese

94 points Wine Spectator: "This needs some air to reveal its peach, passion fruit and lime aromas and flavors. Racy and tight, with the sleek structure driving the flavors to a long finish. Yet shows fine intensity and purity. Drink now through 2028. 250 cases imported. (BS)" (4/2008)92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Speaking of fermentative overlays, that applies to Frohlich's 2006 Bockenauer Felseneck Riesling Spatlese, but the shroud soon parts to reveal sweet clover, honey, and subtly bitter-sweet herbal-concentrate inflections. With elegance, and refinement it charts a charming course through luscious, melony, ...Read More »

2012 Gut Hermannsberg Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc)

Gut Hermannsberg is the privately owned, modern incarnation of what used to be the Nahe's State Domaine. With the estate management and winemaking in very capable hands, this new label is now available in the U.S. and has plenty to show off. "All of Gut Hermannsberg's vineyards are rated as Erste Lage, or first-growth. These hillsides frequently show 50% incline, along with the Nahe's customary kaleidoscope of soil types and terroir possibilities," notes importer Winemonger, who describes the style and provenance of their Weissburgunder as "a juicy wine ... 2001 Schlossgut Diel Dorsheimer Burgberg Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule (375ml) (Previously $90)

94 points Wine Spectator: "Terrific. A rich wine with muted flavors of spice, vanilla, passion fruit and pastry shot through with searing acidity. Intense, with concentrated flavors and a delicate frame." (3/2003) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "A vivid pear cider aroma sets the stage for a pure pearsy palate that is even more deft, elegant and weightless than that of the other Auslesen here today. Velvety in texture yet almost Kabinett-like in structure. The finish here is as delicate, poised and as long as they come. For all of its enormous ripeness, this projects an uncanny sense of lightness, boasts a very jui ...Read More »

2012 Dönnhoff "Tonschiefer" Riesling Trocken

Jancis Robinson: "All from in and around Leistenberg. Reductive and smoky nose. Extremely racy, with a broad spread of seductive flavours. Very precise and neat. Still with lots to give. Still a little chewy." (8/2013) Wine & Spirits: "From the clay-slate (tonschiefer) soils of the Leistenberg Vineyard, this smells of lavender and lanolin--a waxy Riesling with breadth. Acidity couples with floral notes to keep it buoyant and graceful." (12/2013)

2002 Emrich-Schönleber Monzinger Frülingsplätzchen Spätlese Back In Stock!
2002 Emrich-Schönleber Monzinger Frülingsplätzchen Spätlese

91 points Wine Spectator: "Exotic and creamy, offering passion fruit, vanilla custard and stony notes allied to a firm structure. Multidimensional, so give it some time to integrate." (2/2004) K&L Notes: Leave it to the Germans to come up with this unlikely one-word moniker. The vineyard name means "nice little place in spring," and it refers to the warmth of the vineyard, where the snow begins to melt very early, and to the view over the Nahe Valley, which is unsurpassed. Nice little wine, too. In spring, summer, fall and winter! The soil is slaty, stony and mixed with red loam, qualities tha... Read More »

2000 Emrich-Schönleber Monzinger Halenberg Riesling Auslese
