Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Mouches" ((90-92ST), (88-91BH)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium-deep red. Musky aromas of dark berries, licorice and minerals. Juicy, suave and fine-grained, with dark fruit flavors complicated by enticing subtle minerality and a whiff of game bird. Dry, classic wine with good density and and depth. Finishing flavors of dark berries, flowers and minerals give lovely lift to the primary back end. Really refreshing stony energy here. " (01/2013)

2011 Domaine Clos Frantin (Albert Bichot) Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru "Aux Malconsorts"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Clos Frantin (Albert Bichot) Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru "Aux Malconsorts" (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Malconsorts 2011 has a more obvious nose than de Montille’s, perhaps less complex but still nicely defined with crisp bruised raspberry and blueberry aromas. Only with aeration in the glass does it reluctantly reveal its mineral core – this is more taciturn at the moment. The palate is silky smooth on the entry, the acidity discretely cutting through the concentrated brambly red berry fruit. There is a sense of density on the “solid” finish that is obdurate at the moment but should soften with bottle age without drying out. A little tough natured at present – give this plenty of time in the cellar. (NM)" (11/2014)

Wine Spectator: "**Collectibles, #3 of Top 100 Wines of 2006** Intense blackberry and cherry, with hints of currant. Toasted oak and sweet tobacco too. Roses and other flowers, such as lilacs. Full-bodied, with masses of tannins yet incredibly long and seductive. Best after 2012. " (03/2006)

2004 Blankiet "Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Blankiet "Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dense ruby/purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Paradise Hills Estate reveals notes of cocoa, coffee, chocolate and creme de cassis. It cuts a bigger swath across the palate than the Merlot, but with no hard edges. Deeply textured and multidimensional with loads of fruit as well as a flawless integration of acidity, alcohol, tannin and wood, this medium to full-bodied, classic Blankiet should continue to drink well for another 15-20 years. 1989 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this bottle of 1989 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (100RP, 97ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Both La Mission-Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion hit home runs in this vintage, which did not produce as many profound wines as the Bordeaux publicity machine suggested. 1989, the 200th anniversary of the French revolution, was an incredibly hot year (surpassed only by 1990 and 2003). Even from barrel the seamless 1989 La Mission revealed a special elixir aspect, tasting like it had been designed by Chanel. It still possesses a blue/purple color with only a hint of garnet creeping in, and the explosive aromatics offer up notes of licorice, creme de cassis, blueberry liqueur, smoky barbecue meats, truffles and graphite. If that’s not enough to get one salivating, the palate has never disappointed either. Full-bodied with extraordinary opulence as well as sweet, well-integrated, velvety tannins, this fresh, lively, blockbuster La Mission appears to be one of those rare wines tha

2009 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (99RP, 98JS, 98WS, 97ST, 96WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Mouton Rothschild has a striking label from Anish Kapoor. The wine is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot that begs comparison as a young wine with what the 1982 tasted like in 1985 or, I suspect, what the 1959 may have tasted like in 1962. Representing 50% of their production, the wine has an inky purple color to the rim and not terribly high alcohol for a 2009 (13.2%), but that is reflected by the high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a remarkable nose of lead pencil shavings, violets, creme de cassis and subtle barrique smells. It is stunningly opulent, fat, and super-concentrated, but the luxurious fruit tends to conceal some rather formidable tannins in the finish." (02/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Lucien le Moine Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrières" ((91-94BH), 94WS). Wine Spectator: "A smoky white, yet full of floral, juniper, lime, toasty hazelnut and mineral aromas and flavors. Lean, toned and very complex, with a long aftertaste of lime, smoke and jasmine tea. There's lovely harmony, though this needs time. Best from 2013 through 2023. " (08/2011)

2007 Gaja "Conteisa" Langhe (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Gaja "Conteisa" Langhe (OWC - 95JS, 95RP, 94ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " The 2007 Langhe Conteisa is impeccably ripe and silky on the palate, with expressive La Morra red fruits, flowers, mint and spices that emerge from the glass. This is another soft, seamless wine from Gaja, with gorgeous purity in the fruit that carries through all the way to the deeply satisfying, creamy finish. The tannins remain impeccably refined and beautifully balanced with the fruit. The wine is likely to firm up a touch in bottle, but it should be one of the most accessible of Gaja’s 2007s. The 2007 is easily among the finest Conteisas ever made. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. (AG)" (02/2010)

2013 Maybach Family "Irmgard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2013 Maybach Family "Irmgard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. From the winery: "The far reaches of the Sonoma Coast tend to produce wines with distinctive notes driven by the unyielding conditions of their locale. From this vineyard you can see the Pacific Ocean, which puts the site near the fringe of where it is possible for nature to allow the cultivation of wine grapes. In planting this vineyard in 2007, we chose two different California Heritage clones, Swan and Calera, to produce a distinct wine that reflects the soil and climate. This Pinot Noir has leagues of depth and aromatic notes of forest floor, cassis, and cinnamon. On the palate, notes of plum, cranberry compote, rosemary, oolong tea and a zesty acidity draw out into a clean perfumed finish."

1996 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Margaux, Margaux (99RP, 96ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Chateau Margaux, which was bottled in September 1998, is undoubtedly one of the great classics produced under the Mentzelopoulos regime. In many respects it is the quintessential Chateau Margaux, as well as the paradigm for this estate, combining measured power, extraordinary elegance, and admirable complexity. I tasted the wine of three separate occasions in January, and in short, it's a beauty! The color is opaque purple. The wine offers extraordinarily pure notes of blackberries, cassis, pain grille, and flowers, gorgeous sweetness, a seamless personality, and full body, with nothing out of place." (04/1999)

2009 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2009 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru (98BH, 97RP, 97WS, 96ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A discreet but incredibly complex nose features notes of spicy, pure and relatively high-toned fruit that is laced with plenty of rose petal and violet hints. There is excellent energy and freshness to the lacy and stunningly precise broad-scaled flavors that build in intensity from the densely concentrated mid-palate to the explosive and mouth coating finish that seemingly goes on without end. This is a big LT with ample muscle and very firm but not aggressive structure along with superb depth of underlying material and positively mind-blowing length. But the real genius of this wine is the Zen-like harmony and poise though note that it is very tightly wound and will need many years of cellaring before it will be completely ready. In a word, magnificent." (01/2012)

2009 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (OCB)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (OWC - 96RP, 95WE, 94ST, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Cayuse’s 2009 Syrah Bionic Frog originates in the Coccinelle Vineyard, planted in 1998, which features iron-rich clay with significant fine earth run-off from the nearby Blue Mountains, and, paradoxically, dries out quickest. In more ways than one, it’s the opposite of En Chamberlin. 'This is, 90% of the time, the Syrah that we pick first,' notes Baron, 'which was September 24 in 2009.' Vinification was in concrete (though future vintages will ferment in recently-arrived wooden uprights), and the mix of barrels - all Dominique Laurent’s self-styled 'magic barriques' (which until 2011 was the favored medium for this bottling) - was around 20-30% new. 1996 Sine Qua Non "Against The Wall" Santa Barbara County Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Sine Qua Non "Against The Wall" Santa Barbara County Syrah (94RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sine Qua Non has produced some spectacular Syrahs, buying fruit from the best sources in Santa Barbara - the Alban, Stolpman, and Bien Nacido vineyards. The 1996 Against The Wall Syrah is cut from the same mold as the 1997. The color is opaque black/purple, and the nose offers a combination of cassis/blackberry jamminess intermixed with tar, pepper, and spice. Thick, massively full, yet wonderfully rich and expansive, with admirable purity and mouth-staining levels of glycerin and extract, this full-bodied, silky-smooth Syrah is deceptively easy to drink, but I suspect it will age effortlessly for 15-20 years." Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Big and tannic, while at the same time potentially rich and smooth, this is, as always, an impressive wine. It has weight and dense texture. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru "Clos des Epeneaux" (Monopole) (92AG, 92BH, 92ST, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: " Bright medium red. Shy aromas of redcurrant, plum and spicy underbrush are less pristine than those of the young 2012. Supple and energetic, with dark cherry, raspberry and soil tones accented by minerals and peppery herbs. Nicely perfumed and savory wine with a restrained sweetness and very good verve. The dusty tannins should support mid-term aging." (03/2014)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Bruno Giacosa "Falletto" Barolo (OWC - 94RP, 93JS, 92WS, 91AG, 91ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Barolo Falletto is an exuberant and exciting wine with tight, firming tannins surrounded by deep layers of dried cherry, licorice, cassis, moist tobacco and campfire ash. What sets this Barolo apart is the focus and care it shows on the bouquet. It is as if each layer is a separately audible voice in a united chorus of flavors and aromas. Also notable is the balanced acidity that adds a bite of freshness without being too sharp. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2035. (ML)" (06/2013)

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2006 Alter Ego de Palmer, Margaux (OWC - 92W&S, (89-91WS)) in original wood. Wine & Spirits: "This blend is selected to offer more immediate pleasure than the Palmer (recommended above), and it succeeds in 2006 with lovely fullness of Cabernet balanced by the rich textural nuance of Merlot. It's a succulent, black wine, with detailed scents of cherry, mushroom and meat. A polished Margaux to enjoy over the next five or six years, this would be delicious with a rosemary'd leg of lamb." Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (OWC - 95RP, 94JS, 94WE, 92ST, 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the stars of the vintage, and a remarkable achievement in 2008, with impressive richness, this dense purple colored wine is almost as opaque as the 2010. Spring flowers, crushed rocks, creme de cassis and some subtle oak are followed by a full-bodied, concentrated wine that transcends the vintage character in its power, richness, and aging potential. It also exhibits tremendous precision, purity, and depth of character. It is more forward than the 2010 is likely to be, but probably not as sumptuous as the 2009 will turn out to be. This is a wine to buy. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2035." (05/2011)

Full-bodied, dense purple in color, with floral notes intermixed with blackberries, cassis, graphite and spring flowers, this full-bodied, legendary effort is long and opulent, with wonderfully abundant yet sweet tannin, a skyscraper-like mid-palate and a thrilling, nearly one-minute finish. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 97WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Starting with the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve, this wine showed spectacularly on release, closed down for a few years, and has now emerged, at close to full maturity, and is straight-up fabulous. Out of the entire tasting, it remained my favorite. Giving up gorgeous blackberry, currants, garrigue, pepper and beef blood, it hits the palate with a massive, full-bodied texture that carries layers of sweet fruit, awesome concentration and blockbuster length. Tasting like the essence of both this estate and the terroir, it’s an incredible wine that I’m happy to taste/drink anytime. It will continue to evolve gracefully, but I see no reason to delay gratification. (JD)" (08/2014)

1970 Vega Sicilia "Unico" Ribera del Duero
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1970 Vega Sicilia "Unico" Ribera del Duero (97RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For many years, the 1970 Unico was the greatest Spanish wine that I had ever tasted, and although this was not the same caliber as the previous perfect example, it remains a fabulous wine. It is a blend of 70% Tinto Fino, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot and Malbec and aged for ten years in barriques. It has a thrilling Bordeaux-like personality on the nose that is more aloof than other vintages. The Cabernet component in the blend is pronounced, forming the backbone and austerity of this wine. However, you cannot deny its power and its breeding, or indeed its obdurate, masculine finish that demands respect. This is a Unico you have to look up to, perhaps the sister of Chateau Latour in this same year. 94,500 bottles produced. Drink now-2030+. (NM)" (08/2012)

1963 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1963 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A light rust, garnet hue with degradated deep brick rim. The nose is comparatively simple with scents of cherry, spice, iron rust and wild strawberry. Perhaps a little flat compared to the others. A medium-bodied palate, quite pretty, with damson, cherries and a touch of sloes. Quite cohesive, though lacking the breeding of great 1963’s. But the finish is pleasantly harmonious with good vigour, though perhaps rather linear. Given its reputation, this is actually better than I anticipated. Something tells me that this is an over-performing bottle, but this is a lovely, elegant mature port. Tasted February 2007. (NM-Wine Journal)" (07/2007)

2002 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2002 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (94RP, (91-94ST), 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the best wines of the vintage, this is a classic Pauillac that is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot. Dense ruby/purple in color with a glorious nose of melted licorice, lavender, barbecue smoke, black currants, and graphite, the wine is tannic, classically structured with an opaque ruby/purple color, beautiful definition, and a 1996-ish personality. This deep, full-bodied, elegant yet powerful 2002 should age handsomely for over two decades. Some patience will be required since this vintage exhibits more muscle and virility than normal. 2003 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Latour, Pauillac (100JS, 100RP, (96-98WE), 98WS, 97ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Administrator Frederic Engerer says the 2003 is “the sexiest Latour ever made.” He also described it as “the 1990 without any brettanomyces.” I loved this wine from the barrel and was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a small quantity, enjoying every bottle I have had. A profound example of Chateau Latour, the full-bodied, opulent 2003 is already performing well at age eleven, which is somewhat atypical. The pH is a relatively high 3.8, which also indicates low acidity. The wine is very ripe, but not over-ripe, offers great freshness, and lots of creme de cassis and camphor as well as hints of blackberries and chocolate. Dense, thick and unctuously textured, this staggering Latour is undeniably the most sumptuous, opulent wine made here since the 1982 or 1961. Drink it over the next two decades. " (08/2014)

2010 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion (100JS, 100RP, 100WE, 98WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 is one of the most impressive two-year-old Cheval Blancs I have tasted in 34 years in this profession. The final blend of 54% Cabernet Franc and 46% Merlot has the tell-tale berry/floral nose with subtle hints of menthol, blueberry, raspberry and flowers in addition to some forest floor and a delicate touch of lead pencil shavings. The wine exhibits more structure and density than it did from barrel, and it was already remarkable then. The foresty/floral notes seem to linger and linger in this surprisingly full-bodied, powerful Cheval Blanc, yet it possesses a very healthy pH that should ensure enormous longevity. Dense purple in color, and a bigger, richer wine than usual, this is one Cheval Blanc that will probably need a decade of cellaring. I like the description from the estate’s administrator, Pierre Lurton, who said it tasted like “liquid cashmere,” a p

1995 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 1995 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1995 Proprietary Red Wine is almost as perfect as the 1994. It has gotten even better in the bottle, and remains one of the most remarkable young Cabernet Sauvignons I have tasted. The wine, a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, was aged in 100% new oak, which adds subtle pain grille/toasty scents. This opaque purple-colored Cabernet offers up a nose of smoke, coffee beans, black and blue fruits, minerals, and roasted herbs. It is extremely full-bodied, with spectacular purity, exquisite equilibrium, and a seamless personality with everything in total harmony. The finish lasts for more than 40 seconds. This extravagantly rich, profoundly complex 1995 will give its 1994 sibling a run for its money. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2027." (12/1998)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This inky purple-colored wine has an extraordinary nose of sweet black cherry jam intermixed with licorice, spice box, and cedar. It has sensational richness, but the purity, elegance, and overall nuance of this wine are what set it apart and give it a very distinctive character all its own. This is a fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon and another terrific 2003 that can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 or more years. (RP)" (12/2006)

2008 Rivers-Marie "Occidental Ridge Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Rivers-Marie "Occidental Ridge Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red-ruby. Musky, smoky aromas of ripe strawberry and spices, lifted by a note of orange zest. In a warmer style but with firm acidity giving lift and perfume to the flavors of dark raspberry, violet and licorice. Finishes quite juicy. Brown describes this as a low-pH wine from a warm site. This was the first pinot vineyard he harvested in 2008, picking in mid-September at 14.3% potential alcohol." (06/2010)

2005 Sine Qua Non "Atlantis Fe203-2c" Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Sine Qua Non "Atlantis Fe203-2c" Grenache (100AG, 97RP, 95ST, 90WS). Antonio Galloni: "The 2005 Grenache Atlantis Fe203-2a has been absolutely thrilling both times I have tasted it within the last year. A huge, vertical wine, Atlantis graces the palate with deep, voluptuous red fruit, crushed rocks, smoke, tobacco and mint. Even with all of its intensity and explosiveness, the wine remains light on its feet, with great balance and class to burn. The inclusion of whole clusters adds gorgeous lift and perfume, especially on the finish. At nearly ten years of age, the 2005 Grenache Atlantis is in a perfect spot right now and should continue to drink well for another 5-10 years, perhaps longer. " (07/2014)

Bid on this magnum of 2007 Merry Edwards "Klopp Ranch" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L) (97CG, 94WE, 91WS, 89ST). Connoisseurs Guide: "It is not that this wine is bigger or bolder than its stablemates. It just seems that way because its generous aromas seemingly jump out of the glass, and the layered quality of those aromas reinforces the notion that this is top-notch Pinot. Its full and supple impressions at entry are followed by ripe, deep and deliciously fruity flavors of sweet red cherries, toasted bread, rich, creamy oak and hints of dried raspberries. Its initial hints of velvet might suggest early drinking, but this is a Pinot with lots and lots of potential for growth." (06/2010)

Possessing full-bodied richness and an elegant, focused and pure style, it benefits from a decant if drinking anytime soon, and will have over a decade of longevity. (JD)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (93RP, 93WE, 91WS, 90JS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Haut-Bailly is a candidate for the finest wine of the appellation. Its dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by classic aromas of scorched earth, sweet black currants, cherries, and a hint of pain grille. Light on its feet, but substantially flavored, it possesses stunning purity, good acidity, ripe tannin, and abundant flavor as well as length. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Pascal Marchand Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Fonteny" ((91-93ST)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(20% vendange entier; 50% new oak): Bright, deep red. High-pitched aromas of pomegranate, white pepper, crushed stone and cardamom. Sharply defined, tightly wound and penetrating, with tart berry flavors accented by pepper and braced by a firm acid spine. Like an essence of crunchy crushed fruits. Leanish and not yet pliant, but this vibrant premier cru is nonetheless seamless and very long on the aftertaste. The pH of 3.4 is at the low end in the context of this set of wines." (01/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Buisson-Charles Meursault 1er Cru "Bouchères" (93BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Sweet spot Outstanding* Here the nose is slightly more elegant with a pretty array of saline, citrus, floral and spiced pear aromas that are in keeping with the lightly mineral-inflected, textured and ultra-pure middle weight flavors that culminate in a linear and driving finish. This is extremely dry, indeed it is unusually dry for the vintage and while it will undoubtedly put on weight and flesh as it ages, it could at present pass for a fine Chablis. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos (OWC - (93-96BH), (93-95RP), (92-95ST)) in original wood. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from 4 separate parcels totaling 4.11 ha, 3 of which are all at the top of the slope). This was quite closed and somewhat difficult to read but aggressive swirling grudgingly liberated ripe aromas of sea breeze, pear, lemon rind, oyster shell and mineral reduction plus an abundance of typical floral scents. The large-scaled flavors are overtly powerful and impressively concentrated as there is plenty of palate staining dry extract that also buffers the very firm acidity that supports and shapes the gorgeously precise finish. This explosively long effort possesses exquisite balance and the tightly wound flavors are going to need at least a decade to completely bloom. A knock out." (09/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo (96AG, 96RP, 92ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mascarello’s 2004 Barolo Monprivato is an explosive wine with an almost Pinot-like expression of purity in its fruit. This round, sweet Barolo is extremely primary at this stage, with tons of dense fruit that almost cover the wine’s tannins completely. Subtle overtones of roses and tar develop in the glass, rounding out this majestic wine. Monprivato is one of the world’s very finest values in collectible, age-worthy wine, and the 2004 is another classic in the making. I was blown away by this wine’s sheer balance and harmony, both of which are remarkable considering the wine’s age. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2034." (10/2008)

Black cherry, licorice and herbs on the nose, given punch by strong peppery spices. Sweet, supple and nicely concentrated if a bit less complex and high-pitched than the 2009 version. Lovely black cherry fruit displays a tangy sweetness. The very long finish features dusty, fine-grained tannins. The crop level here was just 18 hectoliters per hectare, according to Boillot. 1999 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Margaux, Margaux (94RP, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The sexy, dark plum/purple-colored 1999 Margaux is already revealing complex aromatics. This surprisingly charming and round offering is reminiscent of a vintage such as 1985. Although neither a blockbuster nor a heavyweight, it grows in the mouth revealing tremendous length as well as purity. Administrator Paul Pontallier prefers it to the more austere 1998, as do I. This is an archetypical Chateau Margaux of richness, finesse, balance, and symmetry. It can be drunk young, but promises to age nicely for two decades. Extrapolating backwards, it would probably have something in common with the underrated 1962 Medocs. (RP)" (04/2002)
