2013 Cantina Terlan "Terlaner Classico" Terlano Top Pick!
2013 Cantina Terlan "Terlaner Classico" Terlano

93 points James Suckling: "Fabulously dense and flavorful. Aromas of sliced green pears and lemons follow through to a full body with a rich and tangy aftertaste. I like the lemon grass and herb undertones. Flinty too. A blend of pinot blanc, chardonnay and sauvignon banc. Drink now." (7/2014) Wine Enthusiast: "A blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon, this reveals a fragrance of white flowers and tree fruit. The juicy palate delivers white peach, yellow apple and a mineral note alongside fresh acidity." (6/2014)

2010 Cantina Terlan "Gries" Lagrein Top Pick!
2010 Cantina Terlan "Gries" Lagrein

This comes from a small suburb of Bolzano called Gries, where the alluvial soils are perfectly suited to Lagrein--a native grape that has been grown in the region since at least 1379. The fruit is manually harvested, slowly fermented in stainless and finished in mostly large wooden barrels (70%) and barriques (one-third new). Always a favorite, this cool climate red is ink-dark and packed with lifted dark berry fruit, fine tannins and exotic spice. It's particularly delicious with game, offal and aged cheeses.

2012 Abtei Muri Sudtirol "Weiss" (Super Bianco)

The 2012 Abtei Muri Sudtirol "Weiss" is a blend of 70% Pinot Bianco and 30% Pinot Grigio grown in the village of Appiano/Eppan in a southeast facing vineyard with predominantly gravelly limestone soils at elevations from 1500 to over 2000 feet, with vines aged 20-30 years. The wines from this area exhibit a persistent saltiness to go along with the excellent acidic balance. Winemaker Christian Werth ferments in stainless steel and then ages it for 15 months in large wooden casks with a weekly lees stirring. This wine can age easily for another 5-8 year... Read More »

2013 Cantina Terlan Lagrein Rosé Alto Adige

Lauded as a reference point for the wines of Trentino-Alto Adige, Cantina/Kellerei Terlan makes this fresh rose, ready-to-enjoy now, from the red Lagrein grape. Winemaker Rudi Kofler notes: "Lagrein is a distinctive indigenous wine. It can be enjoyed as a full-bodied red but also, in the warmer months of the year, as a fruity rosé. Thanks to its fresh and uncomplicated character, the rosé is becoming increasingly popular among wine connoisseurs."

2013 Convento Muri-Gries Pinot Nero (Previously $30.00)

Muri-Gries Blauburgunder, a.k.a. Pinot Nero, a.k.a. Pinot Noir that looks like Dorothy's ruby slippers shimmering in the glass. It's as enchanting as those special shoes, too, with its crunchy, red-fruited bouquet, herbaceous-earthy palate, and punchy acidic backbone. The Muri-Gries vineyards are on an ideal southeast-facing slope where the soils are calcareous, ideal for racy Pinot Noir. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and then put into large Slavonian oak casks of 30hl to 50hl--you could fit the juice from 13 of California’s standard wine barr... Read More »
