2009 E. Guigal Châteauneuf-du-Pape Top Pick!
2009 E. Guigal Châteauneuf-du-Pape

92 points Antonio Galloni: "Deep red. Potent cherry, redcurrant and floral scents are given a musky, earthy touch by a hint of rhubarb. Sappy, sweet and broad on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering bitter cherry and raspberry preserve flavors and a touch of licorice. The clinging finish is shaped by silky, even tannins and given bite by a hint of cracked pepper." (4/2015) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape appears to be a beautiful wine, although perhaps not at the level of the 2007 or 2010 (which will not be released for another two years). The elegant, medium to full-bodied 2 ...Read More »

2009 Château de Montfaucon Côtes du Rhône (1.5L)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cotes du Rhone (80% Grenache and 20% Cinsault) exhibits attractive notes of sweet strawberry and black cherry fruit intermixed with damp earth, herbs and pepper. It should drink well for 5-6 years." (10/2010) Wine Spectator: "Light but persistent, with a good juicy edge to the red currant, floral and red licorice notes that hang through the warm stone-tinged finish. Drink now." (10/2011) K&L Notes: 14% abv.

2009 Château de Beaucastel "Coudoulet de Beaucastel" Côtes du Rhône

89-91 points Robert Parker: "The 2009 Beaucastel Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet red is just a notch behind its brilliant 2007 counterpart and could turn out to be just as good. It boasts a deep ruby/purple hue in addition to abundant aromas of framboise, black cherries, truffles, herbs, grilled steak and meat blood. Spicy, peppery, rich and medium to full-bodied with silky tannins, this beautiful, reasonably priced wine should drink well for 10-12+ years." (10/10) James Molesworth of Wine Spectator had this to say: "From the Château de Beaucastel, the Côtes du... Read More »

2009 E. Guigal Hermitage

92-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Hermitage possesses a dense purple color as well as lots of creme de cassis, camphor and acacia flowers. Deep, rich and full-bodied, this massive blockbuster will need a decade of cellaring after its release." (12/2013)

2009 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Wine Spectator: "Sinewy and reserved, with a light dusting of cocoa powder over the tangy damson plum, red licorice and cassis notes. The long, supple finish, with a lovely wafting note of Lapsang souchong tea, is packed with minerality and tight-grained tannins that will need time to fully evolve. One of the more backward 2009s, though this should pick up steam in the cellar. Best from 2013 through 2025." (11/2011)95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 is showing better out of bottle than it was last year. Gorgeous kirsch liqueur notes, raspberry jam, forest floor, spice box, new saddle leather and a ...Read More »

2009 M. Chapoutier "La Mordorée" Côte-Rôtie

97 points Wine Spectator: "Bass notes of roasted mesquite and ganache support the fig and currant core, with lots of singed bay leaf, charcoal and espresso to fill in on the finish, where a black tea note echoes in the background. Shows serious muscle, but riveting acidity keeps it all harnessed. Needs a little time to settle in, but will be worth the wait for its terrific length and range. Best from 2015 through 2030." (7/2012)96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cote Rotie La Mordoree (471 cases) is potentially the finest La Mordoree made since the monumental 1991 (which is just beginning to hit full maturi ...Read More »

2009 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I wrote last year, the 2009 Hermitage La Chapelle is easily the greatest, most profound La Chapelle since the 1990. Most of this cuvee comes from Le Meal and Les Bessards vineyards, with a touch of Les Roucoules fruit in the blend. It is an opaque purple-colored wine with enormous concentration in addition to an extraordinary bouquet of graphite, creme de cassis, blackberries, licorice, beef blood and a touch of smoked game. Boasting phenomenal intensity, a full-bodied mouthfeel and 50 years of longevity, the only thing that could possibly hold it bac ...Read More »

2009 Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Also gorgeous, but in a more forward, perfumed style, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape is loaded with kirsch, wild strawberry, licorice, Asian spice and wild herb-like aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, sweetly fruited, voluptuous and textured, it’s hard to resist now, but will age gracefully. (JD)" (8/2014)93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid purple. Powerful cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by a sexy floral nuance. Smooth and deep on the palate, offering juicy red and dark berry preserve flavors that become spicier with air. The floral quality carries through on the subtly ...Read More »

2009 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Réservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2009 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Réservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The bottled 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee is as compelling as I thought it would be after tasting it last year. A blend of 85% Grenache with the rest Syrah, Mourvedre and small dollops of the other authorized varietals, this wine tends to come from the estate’s holdings in the eastern sector of Chateauneuf du Pape. The opaque purple-colored 2009 exhibits magnificent, rich berry fruit intertwined with cedar, Christmas fruitcake, licorice, charcuterie, roasted meats, smoked duck, kirsch, blackberries and god knows what else. It is an amazingly co ...Read More »

2009 Domaine Courbis "Champelrose" Cornas (Previously $49)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Big and rich, but with a throwback feel to the gutsy bramble, tobacco and mulled plum flavors, all pushed by additional dark olive and roasted fig notes. Good cut on the finish offsets the richness nicely. Best from 2012 through 2019." (10/2011)91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cornas Champelrose, which I loved last year, has closed down somewhat, but still reveals extraordinary minerality, a dense purple color, and more new oak than I remember from barrel. It is clearly the most modern-styled wine from Courbis, with huge power, richness and intensity. Give it 3-4 years of cellar ...Read More »

2009 Mas de Boislauzon "Cuvee de Quet" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Mas de Boislauzon "Cuvee de Quet" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 94WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Quet (80% tank-aged Grenache and 20% small barrel-aged Mourvedre from 60-year-old vines) is spectacular. Its dense purple color is accompanied by an exquisite bouquet of boysenberries, mulberries, blueberries and other wild mountain blue and black fruits. Possessing great intensity, a full-bodied mouthfeel and superb purity, it is a singular expression of old vine Grenache blended with Mourvedre. The finish lasts for 50+ seconds, and the wine has a skyscraper-like texture as well as a multidimensional set of aromatics and flavors. This brilliant offering is more evolved and forward than either the 2007 or 2010. (RP)"

2009 Château des Tours Côtes-du-Rhône (Pre-Arrival)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A gorgeous effort that has fabulous aromatics and textural richness, the 2009 Cotes du Rhone dishes out the classic kirsch liqueur, ground pepper, forest floor, lavender and spice-box aromas that always seem present in Emmanuel’s wines. Full-bodied, silky and seamless, with a voluptuous yet incredibly pure profile, it is an up-front, seductive effort that should continue to shine through 2019. Drink now-2019. The home estate of Emmanuel Reynaud (of Rayas), Chateau des Tours produces beautiful, fresh and elegant efforts that often bear more than a passi ...Read More »

2009 Roger Sabon "Secret de Sabon" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I was surprised by the softness and silkiness of the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Secret des Sabon. Largely a field blend estimated to be about 90% Grenache and 10% unidentifiable varieties, it is the most accessible Secret des Sabon made to date. Its opaque purple color is followed by hints of coffee beans, new saddle leather and vanillin (the wine was aged in 1-2 year old 600-liter demi-muids), broad, powerful, concentrated flavors and tannins in the finish. Although it is not currently strutting its stuff as impressively as the Prestige, it should come ...Read More »

2009 Domaine Grand Veneur "Les Origines" Châteauneuf du Pape (Pre-Arrival)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Origines (1,500 cases produced) is a blend of 50% Grenache, a whopping 30% Mourvedre and 20% Syrah with the latter two components spending time in new oak barrels. All of the fruit comes from vines that are nearly 70 years of age. A great wine with an opaque ruby/purple color, sensational fruit intensity and notes of graphite, lavender, licorice, lead pencil shavings and subtle smoke, it is full-bodied, rich and powerful with low acidity and sweet, velvety tannins. It should drink well for 15+ years." (10/2011)93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(50% grenach ...Read More »
