96 points Bob Campbell: "After all these years, Cloudy Bay has still got it. It's encouraging to know that the brand is not merely resting on its laurels. Beautifully harmonious sauvignon blanc with a mix of grapefruit, gooseberry and capsicum contrasting with riper tropical and tree fruit characters while the acidity and sweetness are perfectly balanced. The net effect is of an elegant and moderately complex wine that delivers power with great subtlety." A bright clean appearance with fresh lime green hues. The bouquet shows pleasing aromas of grapefruit and white peach, with a floral lift. On the palate this medium-bodied, dry wine has a refreshing and moreish character. Mouthwatering acidity is balanced by an elegant, mineral finish. Sourced from a vareity of vineyards throughout Marlborough's various subregions: Wairau, Waihopai, Dillion's Point and Blenheim. An exceptional value in classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc!
Invigorating and fresh, with lemony citrus aromas and flavors accented by delicate white flowers. The palate is full and fresh, with balanced acidity and minerality on the finish. This a style of wine which keeps your palate fresh and alive. Although easy to drink it has complexity and intrigue up and down the aromatic and palate. You'll be wanting another after the first one has disappeared. (Eric Story, Loire Buyer)
This Sancerre has a pale yellow color with hints of flashing green. Aromatically, it possesses a nice fruity component of crispy white peaches, melon, yellow plums and the typical presence of place notes of flinty minerals. On the palate, it has a richness and persistence which is nicely balanced with fruit texture, mineral and acidity. The excellent length gets even better as the bottle breathes. If you can get your hands on a round of Crottin de Chavignol, call it a day. Or, try this with pan roasted shellfish with just a touch of butter and a squeeze ... Read More »

89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sensational effort from proprietor Denis Dubourdieu, this easygoing, richly fruity, honeyed white Bordeaux exhibits lots of fig, grapefruit and melon notes, medium body, surprising depth and terrific purity as well as complexity. Drink it over the next 1-3 years. (RP)" (8/2014) 88-91 points Wine Spectator: "Tangy and mouthwatering, with kiwi core, lemon pulp, fennel and sel gris notes. Lots of cut through the finish. Wine Enthusiast: "* Best Buy * A tangy grapefruit flavor and refreshing acidity make this a good before-dinner quaff and an apt pairing with seafood. Herbaceous and citrus aromas carry through to the flavors, medium body and good balance." (11/2014) K&L Notes: Husch was founded in Anderson Valley in 1971, and is now run by some of the original Silicon Valley escapees--the family of Hugo Oswald Jr. had been farming pears in Santa Clara Valley and sold their property during the 1970s tech boom! Their Sauvignon Blanc has been a favorite with Husch fans since 1980. This wine was made from... Read More »
Bob Campbell: "Delicately grassy Sauvignon Blanc with grapefruit, lemon grass, green capsicum, gooseberry and an appealing thread of minerality. Quite Sancerre-like wine with subtle power and a lengthy finish." K&L Notes: "Winery of the Year 2014" Raymond Chan. As the Wall Street Journal noted in May, 2014: "An absolute stand out, Te Whare Ra’s wine has a real depth of flavor on the nose, with tropical and citrus notes. Once sipped it has a core of minerality rounded off by a vibrant, juicy acidity. Quite simply one of New Zealand’s top Sauvignon Blancs." Indeed, the 2013 vintage h... Read More »
This elegant and crisp Sauvignon Blanc hails from Domaine Begude, a small family-owned property located high in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the Limoux region of the Languedoc. The long, cool growing season lends itself perfectly to the production of crisp and delicate wines, and this Sauvignon Blanc is no exception. More in the style of a Loire Valley Sancerre, with its fine, mineral-laden nose and fresh citrus fruits on the palate, this is the perfect accompaniment to grilled fish, oysters, or just by itself. Make this one your house white! Organic... Read More »
Wine Enthusiast: "Flowery and electric in high-toned grapefruit and peach, this is a crisp, clean white from a consistent producer. Medium-bodied, it holds small percentages of Sémillon and Muscat. The finely hewed texture benefits from 10% of the wine having been aged in neutral oak." (9/2014) K&L Notes: Honig sources fruit primarily from their sustainably farmed vineyard in Rutherford along with some other nearby vineyards. From the winery: "A crisp, fresh Sauvignon Blanc created in the classic Honig style. Peach, lemon grass, hints of jasmine and pea shoot are balanced by grapefrui... Read More »
Brothers Yvon and Pascal Tabordet took over the family winery in 1981. Located in Sancerre, they soon branched out across the Loire river to Pouilly Fumé, where they now tend 12 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc vines planted on calcareous clay soils which are intermixed with flint. The wine is slowly fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with no malolactic fermentation.
Margerum Wine Company has long been a favorite of K&L. Doug Margerum, owner and director of winemaking, started out on the retail side of things. He and his family opened Wine Cask in Santa Barbara in 1981 and spent more than a decade building a fantastic wine shop and Bistro. During much of that time, Doug was also building an amazing wine company. Margerum Wines are fantastically balanced and go beautifully with food. They are pure and clean, showing off the beautiful fruit from around Santa Barbara County. We were lucky enough to get the opportunity t... Read More »

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The biggest cuvée is the 20,100 cases of their 2013 Sauvignon Blanc Sonoma, which comes from their estate vineyards in Bennett Valley. This is blended with about 5.5% Sauvignon and has almost 22% of the Musqué Clone, which gives the wine more tropical and exotic characteristics. The wine is dry, delicious, and offers up notes of honeyed figs, exotic melons, fresh acids and crisp lemon blossom with a touch or orange skin. It’s quite refreshing, medium-bodied and beautifully fruited. Drink it over the next several years. (RP)" (12/2014)

Wine Enthusiast: "For a wine with such a large volume (over half a million cases were imported to the U.S.), the quality is admirable. Passion fruit and grapefruit elements dominate, while some grassier notes emerge as the wine sits in the glass, resulting in a pleasant blend of tropical and herbal notes. It’s plump on the midpalate, then gains focus on the lengthy, mouthwatering finish." (7/2014) Wine Spectator: "A fragrant, spicy mix of peach, apricot and citrus flavors, with vibrant acidity and plenty of grapefruit zest nuances on the finish. Drink now." (6/2014)
Wine Enthusiast: "Fruity and slightly effervescent, this is a classic California Sauvignon Blanc. Balanced and lingering in crisp melon and tropical fruit, it provides enough creamy texture to go well with food." (2/2015) K&L Notes: Quivira's Sauvignon Blanc is a classically styled Sonoma white that delivers an excellent experience at a refreshingly modest price. Morgan Peterson of Bedrock Wine Company has always been a favorite of the staff here at K&L wines. When he started the Shebang! label, we thought it was a fantastic wine at a great price. The red wine has done very well for us and our customers have been happy with the quality and price over the last seven years. I recently tasted the just-released Cuvee III Sauvignon Blanc and thought we should bring this in as well. As with the red, this wine over-delivers for the price. The wine is a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc mostly from 30 year old dry farmed vin... Read More »

From the winery: "Our 2013 Sauvignon Blanc was produced from grapes grown in various microclimates of the Napa Valley. The warmer Napa Valley microclimates give us grapes that result in wines with a lush, full melon/citrus character in the aroma and in the flavor. The cooler Napa Valley fruit provides a solid, crisp backbone that gives the wine an exciting liveliness that balances the rich creaminess from "sur lie" aging.
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Opening with pronounced capsicum and vegetal notes amid an underlying apple and gooseberry core that is accented by a waft of wet pebbles, the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc delights with delicate flavors of pea pods, herbs and green apples plus a real pebbly character coming through in the long finish." Sourced from Dry Creek, Alexander Valley, and the Russian River Valley, Ferrari-Carano's Fumé Blanc is appealing in its richer style of Sauvignon Blanc while being only lightly oaked. One of the best priced NZ Sauv Blancs we have in the store. Made by Seresin Estate, one of Marlborough's leading organic and biodynamic producers. Snappy grapefruit, citrus zest and preserved lemon and a touch of richer more tropical fruit from the excellent 2013 vintage. Winemaker notes: "Light and soft-bodied, the 2013 vintage offers a firm acidity balanced with a stark, steely flavor. Aromas are fresh and clean, evoking the scent of early morning after a first rain, with a hint of honeysuckle and underlying notes of tangerine and wet stone.
