2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah ((97-99RP), (94-96AG)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Syrah releases started with the 2012 Syrah Stock. Coming mostly from the Eleven Confessions vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, it also has portions from Cumulus, The Third Twin and White Hawk. Made from 84% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Petite Sirah, 2% Viognier and the rest Mourvedre, it spent 20 months (it’s not yet bottled) in 52% new French oak. Showing the purity and suppleness of the vintage, yet with no lack of concentration, depth or richness, it gives up fabulous cassis, black raspberry, smoked meats and violet-like aromas and flavors that continue to change in the glass. In short, it’s a rock-star Syrah that could come from nowhere else. It should be approachable on release and evolve gracefully for two decades or more. (JD)" (08/2014)

2009 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (96RP, 95WE, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Cayuse’s 2009 Syrah Bionic Frog originates in the Coccinelle Vineyard, planted in 1998, which features iron-rich clay with significant fine earth run-off from the nearby Blue Mountains, and, paradoxically, dries out quickest. In more ways than one, it’s the opposite of En Chamberlin. 'This is, 90% of the time, the Syrah that we pick first,' notes Baron, 'which was September 24 in 2009.' Vinification was in concrete (though future vintages will ferment in recently-arrived wooden uprights), and the mix of barrels - all Dominique Laurent’s self-styled 'magic barriques' (which until 2011 was the favored medium for this bottling) - was around 20-30% new. Baron and Bourcier explain how they like what these barrels have done for the Bionic Frog, but, adds Baron: 'My style of wine should not be based on a cooper, and I don’t want to be dependent on one man’s barrel

Of the 2003 Mitolo "GAM" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The spectacular, dense ruby/purple-colored 2003 Shiraz G. A. M. (named after the Mitolo family’s three children) exhibits aromas of lead pencil shavings, blackberries, blueberries, cassis, licorice, new oak, and scorched earth. This complex 2003 comes across as a hypothetical blend of a great La Mission-Haut-Brion from Bordeaux and a Rhone Valley Hermitage such as Chapoutier's Pavillon. Everything is seamlessly integrated into this tour de force in winemaking. (RP)" (10/2004)

Of the 2005 Noon "Reserve" Shiraz Langhorne Creek South Australia,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2005 Shiraz Reserve was sourced from a 45-year-old vineyard and aged for 18 months in American and French oak of various sizes. A saturated purple color, it presents an array of otherworldly scents including smoke, mineral, meat, game, bacon, and blueberry. Thick, rich, and voluptuous, this mouth-filling, full-bodied Shiraz is about as hedonistic as it gets. Although the wine is seamless, there is some tannin lurking under all the fruit which will permit 8-10 years of cellaring for those able to delay gratification. The finish is amazingly long and pure, seeming to never end. As usual, the Noon wines are benchmarks against which all others must be compared. (JM)" (10

2007 Charles Smith "Royal City" Washington State Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Charles Smith "Royal City" Washington State Syrah (99RP, 99WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Royal City Syrah Stone Ridge Vineyard (4 barrels were produced) was made with 100% whole clusters. An inky purple/black in color, it deals out aromas of mineral, truffle, espresso, licorice, lavender, incense, and blueberry. Super complex, suave and debonair on the palate, this is a lengthy, concentrated, impeccably balanced, complete Syrah that will benefit from a decade of cellaring but is almost too addictive to resist now. Those with willpower who are able to delay gratification will be well rewarded for cellaring this beauty for a decade or more. (JM)" (08/2010)

2010 Mollydooker "The Carnival of Love" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Mollydooker "The Carnival of Love" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (95RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Produced of 100% Shiraz from a single vineyard, the 2010 Carnival of Love was aged in American oak, 97% new. Very deep purple-black in color, it is intensely scented of blueberry preserves, creme de cassis and warm black cherries with an undercurrent of baking spices, licorice, mocha, vanilla, toast and eucalypt. Very full and densely packed with warm blackberry and spice flavors on the palate, it has a solid structure of medium to firm velvety tannins and very crisp acid, giving way to a very long finish. Still quite tight and primary, it should drink best 2014 to 2023+. (LPB)" (02/2012)

Of the 2005 Pax "Castelli-Knight Ranch" Russian River Valley Syrah,93-95 points Robert Parker writes: "There are 370 cases of the 2005 Syrah Castelli-Knight Ranch. No weakling at 15.7% alcohol, it comes across like a Rhone Valley Hermitage given its good acidity, structured, tannic, masculine mouthfeel, and enormous, rich, camphor-infused blackberry fruit. Layers of rich, dark fruit burst from the glass in this expressive, nuanced wine. 2007 Sine Qua Non "Labels" California Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Sine Qua Non "Labels" California Syrah (98RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The recently released 2007 Syrah Labels (89% Syrah, 7% Grenache, and 4% Viognier) comes from the 11 Confessions Estate Vineyard (57%), a small amount from the home estate vineyard in Oak View called Cumulus, and the rest from purchased fruit grown in the White Hawk Vineyard in Los Alamos and the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria. A sensational effort, it is performing even better out of bottle than it did from barrel. An opaque purple color is accompanied by beautiful notes of charcoal, acacia flowers, blueberries, blackberries, graphite, and subtle smoke. With great fruit, tremendous texture, and full-bodied power, it is locked and loaded. This cuvee should provide great drinking in addition to some provocative discussions over the next 10-15 years. 98+ (RP)" (08/2010)

2008 Charles Smith "Royal City" Washington State Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Charles Smith "Royal City" Washington State Syrah (99RP, 98WE, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Royal City Syrah was sourced from the Stoneridge Vineyard. It displays a soaring perfume of sandalwood, garrigue, lavender, smoke, bacon, game, blueberry, and black raspberry. Super-concentrated, it deftly marries power and elegance in a seamless wine that should see its 20th birthday in peak form. I met up with Charles at his new wine bar in Walla Walla before we drove out to the winery in his 1949 Cadillac, a picture of which is on the web-site (not the deluxe model like my grandfather used to drive). It is always a highlight of my annual trip to Washington because in addition to the tasting, you get a performance but, after all is said and done, when it comes to making wine, Charles Smith is all business. He knows where the vineyards are, he believes in amazingly low yields, and in the winery he is a non-interventionist. All of the following wines

Representing an homage to Marcel Guigal’s single vineyard Cote Roties (which are aged 42 months in new oak), 100% whole clusters were used to create this profound Syrah. It boasts an opaque blue/purple color as well as a bouquet of ink, graphite, blackberries, cassis, flowers, and licorice. 2004 Sine Qua Non "Ode To E" Central Coast Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Sine Qua Non "Ode To E" Central Coast Syrah (100RP, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Syrah Ode to E (a blend of 94% Syrah, 4% Grenache, and 2% Viognier) will ultimately spend 43 months in oak. (The debut vintage of this long-aged Syrah, the 2001 Heart Chorea, demonstrates that this has become one of the world’s most prodigious Syrahs.) The 2004 Ode to E exhibits extraordinary purity, and beautiful sweet blackberry and cassis notes along with hints of graphite, camphor, and a subtle, but intense meaty character. Unbelievably concentrated, but neither heavy nor overbearing, this exceptional Syrah possesses a phenomenal personality, an amazing seamlessness, and no hard edges. A massive wine that somehow holds everything together, it offers a wild array of cassis, blackberry, white chocolate, underbrush and pepper that flows to a full-bodied, layered Syrah that has masses of fine tannin and enough substance to evolve for decades. A blend of 85% Syrah, 5% Grenache, 3% Petite Sirah, 5% Roussanne and 2% Viognier that was fermented with 20% whole cluster and aged 22 months in 59% new French oak, it opens up beautifully in the glass and should be decanted if drinking anytime soon. 1990 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (100RP, 97WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 La Chapelle is sexy and opulent. I had the 1990 at the Jaboulet tasting, and again out of a double magnum three months ago. On both occasions it was spectacular, clearly meriting a three-digit score. The modern day equivalent of the 1961, it deserves all the attention it has garnered. The color remains an opaque purple, with only a slight pink at the edge. Spectacular aromatics offer up aromas of incense, smoke, blackberry fruit, cassis, barbecue spice, coffee, and a touch of chocolate. As it sits in the glass, additional nuances of pepper and grilled steak emerge. There is extraordinary freshness for such a mammoth wine in addition to abundant tannin, an amazing 60-second finish, and a level of glycerin and thick, fleshy texture that have to be tasted to be believed. Despite its youthfulness, the 1990 La Chapelle is lovely to drink, although it will be e

Bid on this bottle of 2003 Sine Qua Non "The Inaugural - Eleven Confessions" Syrah (100RP, 99AG, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The mind-boggling 2003 The Inaugural Syrah is an emotional experience to taste as well as drink. Aged 38 ½ months in French oak, it was fashioned entirely from the Eleven Confessions Vineyard, which is planted with Syrah clones #470, 174, and the Estrella River and Alban field selections. This stunning Syrah boasts a magnificent bouquet of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, charcoal, licorice, and roasted meats. It hits the palate with remarkable intensity, purity, and full-bodied power, but it somehow manages to dance across the taste buds with the gracefulness of a ballerina. Awesomely long, I still tasted this wine 60 seconds after I had spit it out -- no easy task, even for a professional. Both are dense and full-bodied with soaring aromas of black fruits, damp earth, camphor, pepper, and asphalt. The wine is full-bodied and somewhat fleshy on the palate but is also well-balanced and a touch tight at this writing even as its young, coating Syrah flavors deliver lots to like right now. 1998-1999 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Syrah Verical
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998-1999 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Syrah Verical, including 1-bottle of 1998 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Syrah (91ST) and 1-bottle of 1999 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Syrah (92RP, 91ST, 91WS). Of the 1999 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 1999 Syrah Eisele Vineyard (a blend of 94% Syrah and 6% Viognier) boasts an opaque ruby/purple color along with gorgeous, complex aromatics of melted asphalt, graphite, blackberry liqueur, coffee, and a hint of pepper. This full-bodied Syrah reveals surprising freshness, finesse, and elegance despite its size. The wine is long, rich, and French in style. It is best drunk over the next 10-15 years. Araujo's Syrah program continues to impress. Crop levels have dropped even lower, resulting in a small production (generally less than 400 cases per vintage)." (08/2002)

2008 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (98RP, 97WE, 95ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Armada Vineyard Syrah takes the longest to come around according to Christophe Baron. It was aged in puncheon for 22 months. Smoked meat, game, Asian spices, lavender, and blueberry are just some of the scents composing the wine’s aromatic array. In the glass it opens to reveal a pure, rich, elegant but powerful wine with a 60-second finish. It, too, will drink nicely for 10-12 years. I’m a bit cautious on my aging potential estimates because of the lack of a track record, but 10-12 years is a certainty in a cold cellar. (JM)"

2006 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah (100RP, 97WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Syrah Reva, coming from parcels of dark, volcanic soil, has off-the-chart richness and intensity. This thick, opaque-purple colored wine offers up notes of scorched earth, ground pepper, and blackberry liqueur intermixed with cassis, licorice, camphor, and tar. The wine is spectacular in every sense. Full-bodied and certainly not for wimps, this is a remarkably concentrated yet very nuanced and intense wine that should age for 20 more years."

2011 Mollydooker "Velvet Glove" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Bid on this bottle of 2011 Mollydooker "Velvet Glove" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (97RP, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Very deep purple-black in color, the 2011 Velvet Glove is chock full of ripe and spicy blackberries, fresh blueberries and creme de cassis aromas that are accented by Chinese five spice notes and hints of chocolate, vanilla and some tar. Full-bodied, it is ripe and rich with a nice line of acid and medium-firm, fine-grained tannins. Concentrated and persistent on the finish, it shows beautiful elegance and freshness and is a nicely delineated and expressive example of the varietal and its regional home. However, it needs another year or more in bottle. Drink it from 2015 to 2025+."

Rita Hills Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2010 Syrah Stockholm Syndrome is a monumental effort that will stand toe-to-toe with the greatest Syrahs in the world. A blend of 96% Syrah, 3% Roussanne and 1% Viognier, it was fermented with 16% whole cluster before spending just under 42 months in 100% new French oak. It offers an incredible array of sweet dark fruits, cassis, white chocolate, licorice and hints of bacon fat that meld perfectly with its full-bodied, seamless, layered and impeccably put-together palate. Given the wealth of fruit here, it’s amazing how this stays light, graceful and elegant, without ever seeming over the

1989 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (96RP, 96WS). Wine Spectator: "A torrid summer with little rain and good weather during the harvest led to a Chapelle of immense potential. Burly and not as seamless as the '90, with layers of this wine's typical plum, mineral and blackberry notes. While monolithic like a granite block, all the pieces should come together as it ages." 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah
