The winegrowing estate of Chateau les Valentines is more than a century old. The estate originally brought their grapes to the local cooperative, but when Gilles and Pascale Pons took over in 1997, they decided to make their own wine. A Rhone-style blend with 70% Grenache Gris and Grenache Noir, and the balance equal parts of Mourvèdre, Carignan, and Cinsault, this fruity and delicious rose offers up aromas and flavors of fresh-picked strawberries and cherries, with tropical fruit accents. It makes a lovely aperitif with olive tapenade on toast, but is balanced and versatile enough to pair with a variety of dishes, from stir fry veggies and grilled fish to slow-cooked lamb with Moroccan spices or roast chicken seasoned with Provençal herbs. 12.5% abv.
From Robert Sinskey's certified organic vineyards in Carneros, this Vin Gris of Pinot Noir is a rosé made the right way. Grapes were hand-harvested at night before being whole cluster pressed and vinified as rosé from start-to-finish rather than being bled off of a vat of crushed grapes destined to be a red. 100% Gamay from the heart of the Loire. A lovely pale pink color with hints of strawberry cream and spice on the nose. A very bright and cheerful style of rose with a nice crisp finish that is fantastically refreshing and easy to drink. One of our best selling and most loved rosé wines here at K&L. Following the tradition of the great rosés of Bandol, Waterkloof's Circumstance Cape Coral rosé is made entirely from Mourvedre sourced from some incredible old vines in Stellenbosch. Grapes were hand-harvested and a gentle whole bunch pressing extracted only the best juice. No further maceration of the juice with the skins was allowed. From the winery: "Like the last few years, this rosé comes from vines planted prior to 1940 (or perhaps we should say prior to FDR's third term). Picked specifically for rosé, at lower potential alcohol and whole-cluster pressed, this pale and perfumed rosé belies its lighter color and has plenty of density. It bears a strong resemblance to the 2010 and 2011, both of which are still showing nicely now. Clos Cibonne's special rosé bottling is 100% Tibouren sourced from 60+ year old vines instead of 30 years for the regular bottling. It is aged on the lees for 1 year before bottling, so it hits the market the year after the rosé wines from other estates. From the importer: "Intense color, on the nose it is spicy with hints of quince and roasted nuts. The palate is bold and fresh with a long finish."
This delightful Rose is made from 100% Pinot Noir, grown in the hills north of Tonnerre, just south of the valley of the Aube in Champagne. Here's a light, copper/salmon-hued, lively and fresh rosé from Tatomer, the up-and-coming Central Coast force for all wines good and Teutonic. Best known for Riesling, they've made this pink wine from 100% Spätburgunder, aka Pinot Noir, from the top of the John Sebastiano Vineyard.
A dry but juicy, fruit foward rosé from Maimai Creek in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. Rich, ripe nose of Strawberries, rose petals, butter cream, mint, orange peel and spice. Soft and juicy on the palate but finishes dry and fresh. Very easy to drink on a warm summers evening. Great value.
It is very rare to find the delicate, still Pinot Noir rosés from Riceys in the USA - grab it before it is gone... We only got three cases! (Gary Westby, K&L) This is a SERIOUS Rose, not a simple picnic type of Rose. It has a dark garnet colour and a nose of fresh picked strawberries. On the palate, strawberries, pomegranate and blood orange. Long, nicely acidic finish with cranberry undertones. This may even be a main course Rose! Cantine Marisa Cuomo makes wines that capture the essense of the rugged beauty of the Amalfi Coast. This Rosato is 50% Piedirosso and 50% Aglianico from south-facing terraces set 100-250 meters above the sea on extremely rocky soil of dolomite and limestone.
