1997 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia

94 points Jancis Robinson: "Medium to full red, with just a touch of purple remaining; powerful, complex dark fruits, chocolate and savoury lemon/vanilla oak on the bouquet, then a similarly powerful palate where earth and chocolate join the chorus of flavours promised by the bouquet; persistent tannins, of course. (Date tasted, June 19, 2002)"94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1997 Grange (a blend of 96% Shiraz and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon) looks to be a classic Grange, although slightly softer and more forward than the backward 1996. The saturated purple-colored 1997 offers a gorgeously sweet nose of blackberry li ...Read More »

2010 Sons Of Eden "Romulus" Barossa Valley Shiraz

96 points James Halliday: "A deeper, more purple, and more dense, hue than Remus; the wine spent 20 months in American oak, which has combined with the opulent black fruits and licorice to provide a flamboyant wine that somehow cuts through its layers of flavour. These are two heroic shirazs."94 points James Suckling: "A firm and juicy wine with a dense palate of blueberries and minerals. Some licorice too. This is traditional and fruity but there is an outstanding fruit and tannin balance to it. Better in two or three years as the wood and fruit come together. Old vine wine!"92 points Wine Spectator: "Taut, focused and dark, with blac ...Read More »

2002 Penfolds "RWT" Shiraz Barossa Valley

94 points James Halliday: "Deep colour; lots of new French oak on both bouquet and palate, but also plenty of dark fruits; very good mouthfeel and texture, ripe tannins; given the benefit of the oak doubt." (7/2011)93 points Wine Spectator: "Muted aromas, but it's generous and jazzy in the mouth. Lively, with blackberry, cherry and white pepper flavors remaining zingy through the long, harmonious finish. Hints at white chocolate as the flavors linger. Tannins are firm, but fine. Drink now through 2020." (9/2005)92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the “Rewards of Patience” vertical in Berlin. The 2002 RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz has a ve ...Read More »

2003 Andrew Hardy "Ox" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia Back In Stock!
2003 Andrew Hardy "Ox" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are only 70 cases of the 2003 Shiraz “The Ox”. As noted above, the wine comes from a 116-year-old vineyard with microscopic yields of 0.25 – 0.50 tons per acre. It spent 24 months in old French oak and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Saturated purple/black, this Shiraz has a hugely expressive bouquet of cedar, pepper, blueberry, blackberry liqueur, and chocolate. Full-bodied and thick on the palate, it exhibits a plush texture, a complex flavor profile, amazing depth and concentration, ripe tannins, and a finish that will not quit. It is a test ...Read More »

2008 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia Back In Stock!
2008 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep purple-black in color, the 2008 Grange puts forward a very complex nose packed with aromas of mulberries, layers of baking spices, cloves and cinnamon with nuances of minced meat, anise, potpourri and whiffs of dried mint and chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, taut and very spicy in the mouth, it shows touches of sandalwood and Chinese five spice complementing the layers of dark fruit flavors. It is framed by firm, grainy tannins and a refreshing acid line before finishing very long with aniseed and lingering blackberry preserves notes. This is clear ...Read More »
