94 points James Suckling: "An subtle nose with plenty of fine autolysis aromas of fresh bread and sweetly fragrant yeasty notes, plus some gentle spice and chalky notes. The palate unleashes beautiful wild strawberry fruit flavors, super fresh, fleshy and pure. Great balance and depth. Drink now." (7/2015) 92 points Vinous: "Pale orange. High-pitched red berry, orange zest and jasmine aromas, with suave mineral and smoky lees notes adding complexity. Spicy and precise on the palate, showing very good punch to its strawberry and bitter cherry flavors. Opens up smoothly with air and picks up a bitter rh ...Read More »
91 points Wine Spectator: "Richly spiced, with ground anise, clove, ginger and cardamom, this offers a lively bead, fresh acidity and flavors of quince, honey, pastry dough and golden raisin. Offers a soft, creamy finish. Drink now through 2018." (12/2012) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This has finesse and elegance, with a thin stream of bubbles and crisp, dry apple flavor. It is taut with a cool feel, still young in the bottle and worth aging a year." (12/2012) K&L Notes: This is one of the best Champagnes we carry regardless of price. Made from the one-and-three-quarters acres Belles Voyes vineyard in Oger, this is Bonvill... Read More »
Champagne always tastes better out of magnum. Paul-Vincent Ariston says that his 25-year-old vines reflect the vintage, but the Prestige, made from vines averaging 60 years, reflect his terroir. He feels that putting a vintage date on this wine would be an insult to his best vineyard plots. This vineyard was destroyed by hail in 2002, so this is the last we'll ever see of the old vines. It is composed of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier. This was one of the best bottles from my 2010 trip, and we drank two just to make sure! It has fantastic... Read More »

93 points James Suckling: "I drink this regularly and always enjoy it. Wonderful aromas of light dough, fresh flowers, and sliced pears and peaches. Full-bodied yet agile and fresh, it shows layers of marvelous light tropical fruit and cream with hints of dough on the finish. Mostly 2011 with some reserve wines. From 47% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay and the rest Pinot Noir. Bottled April 2012." (9/2014) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "This is a graceful, vinous Champagne with dramatic high notes of roses and red fruit, finishing clean with a grounding of pale earthiness. It’s a lovely prediction of what Champagne ...Read More »
The Aristons vineyards are vastly different than the other blanc de blancs producers that we carry. The steeper slopes, less chalk, and more fossils in the soil of Brouillet make for a rich, creamy style Chardonnay Champagne that will appeal to just about anyone. This is one of my favorite toasting Champagnes, all of the flavors are up front, it is open-knit and fun. It is a perfect way to start a party. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)
Mr. Brulez sells two-thirds of his grapes, and keeps the best third to make only vintage Champagne. He is the chairman of the Dijon University Alumni Association, and looks more to Burgundy than to Reims for the inspiration for his wines. There is not much more festive than a magnum of Vintage Champagne. The fact that this is meticulously crafted makes it a particularly fun addition on your holiday gatherings!
Roger Voss' selection of the best grower-producers of Champagne: "Michel Arnould & Fils has 30 acres based around Verzenay on the Montagne de Reims. Pinot Noir dominates his production, of which the best are the Cuvée Carte d’Or and Grande Cuvée."

A 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from 13 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards. From the winery: "Very complex with a lot of aromas of ripe, fleshy fruits like apricot. You will appreciate its brioche and its subtle woody flavors. Fine expression and subtly nuanced."
90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(roughly 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier; Lot 14009913): Light gold. Musky orchard fruits and dried fig on the mineral-accented nose. Fleshy and broad on the palate, offering smoky pear and nectarine flavors and a hint of honey. Finishes on a gently spicy note, with very good cling and a touch of bitter lemon pith. Things have definitely begun to turn around for this bottling, which had been lagging behind the winery's vintage offerings for some time." (12/2013) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of the most familiar of Champagnes, the Yellow Label is finely made—a ...Read More »
91 points Vinous: "(40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier): Pale gold. Spice- and mineral-accented orchard and pit fruits on the intensely perfumed nose, with hints of toasty lees and brioche adding complexity. Sappy, penetrating and floral on the palate, offering juicy Meyer lemon, pear and melon flavors braced by a smoky mineral underpinning. Closes spicy and very long, leaving a sexy honeysuckle note behind. (JR)" (1/2015) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "A beautifully integrated wine that shows richness, even a touch of toasty age to go with apple and intense acidity. The acidity shows so ...Read More »
Whether played by Connery or Craig, one thing about Bond stays the same: the Queen's top spy is always sipping Bollinger. And for good reason. Sourced exclusively from grand cru sites, the 2009 is refined and complex--much like the man himself. Tasting notes from the winery: "White flowers, citrus fruit, delicately stewed pear with hints of vanilla, toasted aromas, hazelnut and breadcrumbs. The wine shows a good maturity yet remains quite brisk and lively. We move through candied fruit, mirabelle plum, quince paste and honey with a finish that reminds us... Read More »
96 points James Suckling: "A very complex nose here with ripe, deep lemon and grapefruit aromas on offer plus some restrained chalky elements, biscuit, some roasting herbs, hints of pepper, then a little tobacco too. Very complex and full of fresh characters. The palate has a wealth of different fruit flavors like lemon, peach, nectarine, and plums. The finesse in terms of structure, detail and precision is staggering; sherbet-like elegance with immense concentration and power. A great Grande Cuvée. Incredibly satisfying." (7/2015) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Krug’s NV Brut Grande Cuvee...reinforces the belief ...Read More »
Roger Voss' selection of the best grower-producers of Champagne: "Michel Arnould & Fils has 30 acres based around Verzenay on the Montagne de Reims. Pinot Noir dominates his production, of which the best are the Cuvée Carte d’Or and Grande Cuvée." If you have enjoyed the wines of Lallement, Bollinger and Krug in the past, you may very much enjoy the bold Champagne of Michel Arnould. The Brut Rosé is 100% Pinot Noir Grand Cru, acquired by assembling different vintages and red Coteaux Champenoises coming from old vines. This lovely Rosé Champagne offers hi... Read More »
91 points Wine & Spirits: "Scents of cedar, forest mushrooms and red fruit rise out of this deep copper pink rosé. It’s bright and spicy, a lovely pinot noir essence over limestone minerality. Supple and finely made." (12/2011) 90 points Wine Spectator: "The impression here is elegant overall, but there's a firm backbone of acidity that's finely meshed with the delicate range of flavors, including white raspberry, spiced plum, biscuit, pink grapefruit zest and a base note of smoky minerality. Drink now through 2017." (12/2012) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Light, bright orange. Fresh redcurrant and strawberry aromas are complemented by not ...Read More »
92 points James Suckling: "A fragrant nose with plenty of bright red florals on offer. Rose-like, musky and perfumed, this has a wealth of freshness and very subtle biscuit-like complexity. The palate's assertive and fully formed, really expands as it moves, delivering bright red berry and ripe peach and nectarine flavors. There's a little spicy twist through the finish. An expressive style made to drink now." (7/2015) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and toasty, with honey and roasted almond notes layered with flavors of baked peach, orange blossom, brioche and pastry cream. A harmonious Champagne, featuring ...Read More »
These magnums are only available on a special order basis- and will be disgorged fresh for you in Reims before being shipped to K&L. The 1988 Lanson Vintage Collection Brut Champagne is a spectacular magnum, from one of my very favorite vintages for drinking right now. This is one of the last "classic" Champagne vintages with a nice, long, even growing season. This wine only showed the slightest tinge of gold in its straw color after 25 years. The nose is developing the white truffle aromas that only time can bring, framed by the savory Pinot Noir charac... Read More »
