2005 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2005 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne

97 points James Suckling: "I believe that the 2005 DP is the best since 2002, which remains the best recent vintage and is probably only eclipsed by the amazing 100-point 1996. The 2005 is a full-bodied DP with so much richness and loads of ripe fruit such as pineapple and papaya. It has a wonderful, creamy texture and a long and intense finish. It’s a Champagne that fully satisfies but at the same time challenges you with its strength, depth and persistence on the palate." (7/2015) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* With some age, this is a gloriously ripe and toasty wine. It has a rich character ...Read More »

2005 Bollinger "Grande Année" Brut Champagne

94 points James Suckling: "The 2005 is an impressively fresh Champagne that has an array of grilled nuts, nougat and chalky minerals ahead of red apple, lemon and grapefruit pith, red fruits and attractive red floral perfume. The palate's supple, smoothly cut, and has a wealth of concentrated dark and red berry fruit flavor that really speaks of pinot noir. This has warmth and richness; really bold and smooth with some spice to close too. The palate has a lot of power, weight and length. Will evolve to deliver brulée, toffee and mocha. Drink now or hold for five years." (7/2015) Jancis Robinson: "Dis ...Read More »

2005 Charles Heidsieck Brut Champagne

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Still very young, this holds great potential. Rich, full-bodied and densely structured, it is a wine first, sparkling second. Ripe apple and peach flavors partner with a strongly mineral texture. It needs to age more in bottle, so drink from 2016." (12/2014) 93 points James Suckling: "This has terrific composure, among the fresher and better-presented of the vintage in terms of aromas. It's toasty with grilled hazelnuts, chalky and flinty. Aromas are in the pithy grapefruit and dried peach spectrum, with lemon too. The palate's seamless, powerful and quite deeply ...Read More »

2005 Michel Arnould Vintage "Carte d'Or" Brut Champagne (1.5L)

That's right- Patrick Arnould ages his vintage magnums four extra years on the lees over the 750's, and then charges you NOTHING for the extra time. Like many Champagne producers, he passionately believes this is the format to drink Champagne out of! Only 36 of these magnums were imported to the US. This wine is a blend of very old vine (50+ years) Verzenay Pinot Noir and Oger Chardonnay in equal proportions. The Chardonnay comes from Delphine Cazals, Olivier Bonville's wife, who trades Patrick for red wine so she can make rose. This is wine exclusively ... Read More »

2005 Dom Pérignon Brut Rosé Champagne

94 points Vinous: "A wine of tremendous energy, cut and focus at this stage, the 2005 Dom Pérignon Rosé impresses for its delineation and crystalline purity. Interestingly, while the 2005 Blanc is quite supple and expressive today, the Rosé is very tight, something that probably bodes quite well for the future. In 2005, the Pinot Noir is quite high at around 55-60% of the blend. Needless to say, it is going be fascinating to see how the 2005 Rosé develops over the coming years and decades. Today, the future certainly looks very, very bright. (AG)" (5/2014)

2005 Bollinger "La Grande Année" Brut Champagne (1.5L)

94 points James Suckling: "Impressive concentration and power here. This is really assertive with ripe yellow orchard fruits and citrus within a core encased in a layer of more savory, toasty notes on both the nose and palate. There's that gentle hint of aldehyde that is the traditional stamp of the house plus savory woody notes, white mushrooms and some chalk and spices, too. The palate has a fleshy opening, filling out with peach and hazelnut flavors before a smooth ride to the finish. Approachable and complex." (10/2016) 94 points Wine Spectator: "*Highly Recommended* A powerful, structured and graceful 20 ...Read More »

2005 Ayala "Perle d'Ayala" Brut Champagne

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale gold. Pungent, sharply focused citrus and orchard fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of brioche, smoky minerals and jasmine, with a hint of melon emerging with air. Silky, nervy and dry, offering taut Meyer lemon and bitter pear skin flavors and a suggestion of truffle. Finishes stony and very long, with lingering smokiness and an echo of white flowers. There's a very attractive delicacy to this Champagne. 6 g/l Dosage. (JR)" (12/2014) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Ovaltine, straw, dried flowers and fruits, as well as baked apples on the nose lead the 2005 Cuvee Perle d' ...Read More »
