2008 Louis Brochet "Millésimé" Brut Champagne

The great 2008s keep coming... but this one will not last for long. This all-estate-grown Champagne comes from all 1er Cru vineyards on the "Petite Montagne", a beautiful part of the Champagne district between Reims and Epernay that is a little bit west of the beaten path. It is partially barrel-fermented, mostly with old Burgundy barrels, but also some barrels from oak grown right there on the Petite Montagne. It is composed of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. This is dazzling Champagne, and if you can keep your hands off of it, it will be even better... Read More »

Ruinart Brut Rosé Champagne Top Pick!
Ruinart Brut Rosé Champagne

92 points Vinous: "Light orange. Sharply focused red berry and tangerine scents are complicated by suggestions of allspice and cinnamon, with a hint of smokiness in the background. Sappy and minerally on the palate, offering fresh strawberry and blood orange flavors lifted by juicy acidity. Packs a serious punch but carries no excess weight and finishes stony and very long, with echoing red berry character. (JR)" (1/2015) 92 points Wine Spectator: "A pretty rosé, harmonious and lithe, with flavors of dried strawberry and smoke carrying on a fine bead and intermingling with the accents of toasted almon ...Read More »

It is composed of 78% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay and 7% Meunier. The wine benefits greatly from 50% Reserve wines and has plenty of richness and toast as well as great acidity. Taittinger "Prestige" Brut Rosé Champagne

92 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and toasty, this harmonious rosé offers a creamy mousse and a lovely array of pureed blackberry, plum tart, toasted brioche, crystallized honey and lemon parfait flavors. Bright and focused, with a graphite- and spice-laced finish. Disgorged November 2014. Drink now through 2020." (10/2015) 90 points Vinous: "Light orange-pink. Drappier Brut Rosé Champagne

92 points Wine Spectator: "Lightly floral on the nose, with hints of lavender and verbena, and spicy on the palate, offering ground clove and anise accents to the flavors of pastry dough, wild cherry, golden raisin, grated coconut and fleur de sel. Harmonious and elegant throughout, presenting a long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2021." (11/2014) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Brut Rose is very, very pretty. This is a fresh, energetic wine that impresses for its length and persistence. Fleury Blanc de Noirs Brut Champagne Top Pick!
Fleury Blanc de Noirs Brut Champagne

Jancis Robinson: "100% Pinot Noir. Dosage 9 g/l. Mostly from 2006 with a bit of reserve wine from 2005. The faintest hint of pink. A fruity nose and chewy, chalky, substantial red-apple fruit on the palate. Lots here and good for the money. A champagne for food." (3/2010) K&L Notes: This is a real deal Champagne from Courteron, a village in the Aube department of Champagne, closer to Chablis than the city of Reims! Their methods are as Burgundian as their location. They are biodynamic, too, the strictest form of organic viticulture. The assemblage of several Pinot Noir vines from diff... Read More »

Charles Heidsieck "Rosé Reserve" Brut Champagne (Previously $70.00)

93 points James Suckling: "Attractive pale red color. The nose has pure and fresh red berry fruit aromas with a little pastry-like complexity; really vibrant. The palate's a little richer than the nose suggests, but still crisp and packed with light red berry fruit flavors. Strawberry really singles itself out on the finish. Balanced, supple and smooth. Drink now." (7/2015) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Based on 2008 and 20% younger reserve wines (averaging five-years-old) the NV Rosé Reserve includes 5% red wine. The Fleury rosé is made entirely of Pinot Noir from Courteron, in the southern part of Champagne. Locals proudly say that their town is closer to Chablis than Reims, and the style of wine owes as much to Burgundy as the stylish bottle does to the grand marques of Champagne. The vineyards, which are all owned by Fleury, are farmed 100% biodynamically, the strictest form of organic viticulture. The base wine is entirely from the 2012 vintage. This Champagne, composed of 100% Pinot Noir, is made by maceration, with all of the skins in contact with all of th... Read More »

Fresh, smoke-tinged finish. Drink now through 2020. (Web Only—2012)" Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark pink. Red berry and cherry scents are lifted by a zesty citrus pith quality. Laurent-Perrier "Cuvée Rosé" Brut Rosé Champagne (1.5L) *Oversized, Ships as a 3L

96 points Connoisseurs Guide: "*Three Stars* Elegant and fruity at the same time with a quick invitation from bright, pure cherryish notes and then filled out handsomely by whiffs of chalky soils and well-integrated, rich and uplifting yeast-driven scents, this wine manages to be both vigorous and layered at one and the same time. Its bubbles are insistent, finely carved and add to the early sensations of lightness and energy yet also carry the wine long into a balanced, refined finish. And its latter palate grip is exactly what one should expect from the genre. While service with lig ...Read More »

Barnaut "Authentique" Brut Rosé Champagne

Chewy and focused on the palate, offering bitter orange pith and red berry skin flavors that gain sweetness with air. At once ample and lively, finishing with very good cut and lingering toastiness. (JR)" (1/2015) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh and lively, with ripe strawberry, black cherry, smoke and whole-grain toast notes riding the refined mousse. Not a powerhouse, but very drinkable. Fluteau Brut Rosé Champagne

Wow, is this stuff dark! If you are interested in tasting a "red wine" Champagne, this is your opportunity. This potent, even tannic Champagne reminds me very much of red wine, but with wonderful bubbles. It is entirely estate-grown Pinot Noir, from the Fluteau estate in Gye-Sur-Seine, made by the macerating all of the grape skins so they stay in contact with the juice to get the maximum flavor and color. This rosé is a great bottle for a picnic with cold cut sandwiches, or even with dessert. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer) The base wine is from 2010 ... Read More »

Spicy and pliant on the palate, offering ripe raspberry and tangerine flavors sharpened by juicy acidity. Mineral and lees notes build slowly on the clinging, spicy finish, which leaves bitter berry skin and floral nuances behind." (1/2015) 90 points Wine Spectator: "A superfine mousse heralds this elegant, vibrant rosé. Vanilla accents, with berry and spice flavors. Glides to a firm finish. Terrific balance and integration. 2007 Thienot "Cuvée Garance" Brut Blanc de Rouges Champagne

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Named after Alain Thiénot's daughter Garance, this is rich and full of delicious fruit. Well aged, it is just developing some secondary flavors that complement the ripe apple and crisp grapefruit flavors. The mineral tang on the finish adds a bit of levity. (RV)" (12/2015) K&L Notes: This bottling is named after Garance Thienot, who handles the communications and marketing for the family firm. They have chosen to call this Champagne "Blanc de Rouges" instead of "Blanc de Noirs" because of the effort that they put into keeping the wine feminine. 2012 Bollinger "La Cote aux Enfant" Still Champagne

Made only in great vintages, this still Pinot Noir comes from the Bollinger family's oldest vines in Ay. This vineyard is one of the few ungrafted, pre-phylloxera sites in France. We managed to get 12 more bottles! This wine is a real Pinot Noir, one can see through it, and it is haunting rather than powerful. I would compare it to Volnay, with subtle strawberry fruit on the nose and considerable vivacious acidity. I would pair it with lamb during an all-Champagne meal! 2006 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Elizabeth" Rosé Champagne

94 points Vinous: "The 2006 Rosé Cuvée Elisabeth Salmon is powerful, intense and also classically austere in its make up. Crushed flowers, mint, red berries and cranberries are all finely sketched. The 2006 finishes with striking mineral-driven precision, and while it doesn’t have the opulence or exuberance of the 2002, it is still a very pretty and appealing Champagne. The Elisabeth Salmon is 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, with about 8% still Pinot Noir. Dosage is 6 grams per liter. 94+ (AG)" (8/2016) K&L Notes: Just one more example of why Billecart-Salmon is easily our favorite... Read More »

1996 Krug "Clos d'Ambonnay" Brut Champagne

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Clos d’Ambonnay is very similar to the Clos du Mesnil in this vintage. It has the same piercing purity and minerality with the heft of the Pinot still to fully emerge. Hints of menthol, spices and berries wrap around the eternal finish. Clos d’Ambonnay, from a single, walled-in parcel in the village of Ambonnay, is in many ways the red equivalent of Clos du Mesnil. (97+)" (6/2011) 95 points Vinous: "Krug’s 1996 Clos d’Ambonnay comes across as quite nuanced and understated, with precise, crystalline fruit and tons of detail."
