2002 Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut Champagne (Previously $349) Top Pick!
2002 Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut Champagne (Previously $349)

99 points James Suckling: "Super fresh, this is striking given the 10 years in the cellars; it has a fine citrus nose - plenty of lemon, grapefruit, yellow chalky notes, some lighter floral elements too. The palate is super dry (dosage at 3-4g) and there's a silky, sherbet-like texture, smooth, fine and long. The citrus flavours give way to the driving surging acidity, thunderous acidity, really driving and powerful. The finish twists very slowly through to light-toasted cashew fruit flavours, but lemon citrus prevails. This is thrilling Champagne. Disgorged 22nd October, 2013. Dr ...Read More »

2002 Salon Blanc de Blancs Champagne Top Pick!
2002 Salon Blanc de Blancs Champagne

100 points Wine Enthusiast: "The 35th and most recent vintage of Salon since the house was founded in 1905 is memorable and magnificent. Made only from Chardonnay grown in the Grand Cru village of Les Mesnil-sur-Oger, it combines intense minerality, a crisp textured core and the beginnings of maturity. The depths of this wine, with its layers of fruit and steeliness, are superb. Even after 12 years, it still needs to age further. Drink from 2018. Cellar Selections." (12/2014)99 points James Suckling: "A subtle, intense champagne that shows complex character of lilac, mineral, sliced lemon, apple and white pepp ...Read More »

2002 Nicolas Feuillatte "Palmes d'Or" Brut Champagne

93 points Wine Spectator: "Refined and focused, this sleek version offers ripe flavors of poached apple, ground anise, almond financier, cassis and candied lemon zest, carried by the fine, silky finish to a lightly smoky finish. Drink now through 2025." (11/2013)91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(a 50/50 blend of chardonnay and pinot noir; L34140): Bright gold. Smoky pear, nectarine and dried fig scents are lifted by lemon curd and white flowers. Toasty and broad on entry, then brighter and more tangy in the mid-palate, offering sweet citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a hint of buttery brioche. Closes with b ...Read More »

2002 Piper-Heidsieck "Cuvée Rare" Brut Champagne

97 points Wine Spectator: "*Collectibles* A powerhouse, with verve to the finely cut, racy acidity, showing a sense of finesse and seamless integration of the firm frame. The silky texture carries layer upon layer of toasted brioche, currant and pear pâte de fruit flavors, with notes of grated ginger and coconut, cappuccino foam and spun honey. Mineral accents of smoke, ground spice and fleur de sel build on the long, echoing finish. Drink now through 2032." (11/2013)95 points Wine & Spirits: "This is a blend from 17 crus in the Montagne de Reims, 70 percent chardonnay, 30 percent pinot noir. It is, by far, ...Read More »

2002 Pol Roger "Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill" Brut Champagne

97 points James Suckling: "Fabulous aromas of dried apple, cream, mango and ginger follow through to a full, dense palate, but it’s very fine. The bead is so, so fine. The texture is like silk. Truly superb. I love the contrast between richness and freshness. It builds slowly on the palate and finishes so long and rich. This was 10 years on the lees. Mostly Pinot Noir." (10/2014)95 points Wine Spectator: "There's a sense of quiet elegance and grace to this harmonious Champagne. Refined and lacy in texture, with finely wrought acidity lending focus and length to the spice- and graphite-laced flavors of ripe a ...Read More »

2002 Thienot "Cuvée Alain Thiénot" Brut Champagne

Precious few 2002's are available these days- grab one of these when you can! This classy vintage Champagne is composed of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. Like all of the Thiénot vintage wines, this bottling is entirely estate grown from the family's nearly seventy acres of vines. The Alain Thiénot has so much aroma that I thought it would be a giant Champagne from smelling the walnut bread and dark cherry fruit that was jumping from the glass. On the palate this is a very balanced wine with great clarity of flavor and a light bead. The long aging of ... Read More »

2002 Moet & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne
Bid on this bottle of 2002 Moet & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (96RP, 96W&S, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Dom Perignon is at first intensely floral, with perfumed jasmine that dominates the bouquet. With time in the glass the wine gains richness as the flavors turn decidedly riper and almost tropical. Ripe apricots, passion fruit and peaches emerge from this flashy, opulent Dom Perignon. The wine’s volume makes it approachable today, but readers in search of more complexity will want to cellar this for at least a few years to allow for some of the baby fat to drop off. Geoffroy describes the vintage as very ripe and adds that some of the Chardonnay showed the ill-effects of the hot growing season in it the somewhat burned, dehydrated fruit that came in that year. This bottle was disgorged in July, 2009. To be released summer 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2032." (03/2010)

2002 Ayala "Perle d'Ayala" Brut Champagne

95 points Wine & Spirits: "Ah, 2002. Where else but in Champagne can you buy a 12-year-old wine with this freshness of fruit, immediately brisk with scents of lemon and orange, generously layering in flavors of golden plums? At first, all that fruit seems heady, but air brings out the rootier depths, acidity ghosting the finish with the sort of masculine power that will make great 2002s riveting wines for decades. If you open this now, decant it and have a platter of shellfish on hand, especially cracked crab claws." (12/2013)93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale gold. A heady, complex bouquet displays an array o ...Read More »

2002 Thiénot "La Vigne aux Gamins" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "A concentrated, dense wine, this is round and rich with fresh apple flavor, but also a hint of maturity—a touch of cookie and almonds on the finish. This is an impressive wine, full of flavor and great concentration." (12/2013)93 points Wine Spectator: "Hints of marzipan and gumdrop add richness to the flavors of patisserie apple, lemon curd, smoke and honeycomb in this firm, well-cut version. Offers a finely detailed bead and a lasting finish, with a hint of blanched almond. Drink now through 2025." 2002 Ruinart "Dom Ruinart" Brut Rosé Champagne

95 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2002 Dom Ruinart Rosé bursts across the palate with superb intensity and plenty of 2002 vintage opulence. Pomegranate, blood orange, red cherry, spice and white pepper are all very much alive in the glass. A rich, intense wine, the 2002 possesses terrific persistence and fabulous overall balance. The aromatics are just starting to show hints of development, but the 2002 has the pure density to drink well for many, many years. The vivid, crystalline finish is a thing of beauty. The 2002 is 80% Chardonnay (the Dom Ruinart base) with the addition of 20% ...Read More »

2002 Gosset "Celebris" Vintage Extra Brut Champagne

94 points James Suckling: "A deep, rich and toasty nose that has a wealth of cashewy, nutty aromas and dried lemon pith, nougat and bright dried cherry fruits too. The palate's bold, assertive and full of flavor with really expansive orchard fruits. It's pared back to reveal a dry, essence-like finish with length and poise aplenty." (7/2015)94 points Wine Spectator: "Graceful and structured by firm, focusing acidity, this delivers flavors of apricot tart, white raspberry, raw almond and lemon preserves, with a hint of crystallized honey on the vibrant, ethereal mousse. Offers a persistent, lightly smoky fini ...Read More »
