2006 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2006 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne

97 points James Suckling: "Deep pinot-driven presence is the first and lasting impression. Power with control. Superfine bead, bread and spiced biscuits, candied ripe red fruits and a sense of tight-knit complexity. Some grapefruit, lemon pith & gently flinty notes too - impressive nose. In the mouth it is rich, powerful, mouth-filling and flavoursome with a core of the same biscuity red fruit flavour, savoury nutty notes and a wrap of assertive, persistent acidity that holds rich powerful flavour deep and focused whilst maintaining a polished, gently creamy texture. Long chalky b ...Read More »

2006 Fluteau "Symbiose" Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2006 Fluteau "Symbiose" Brut Champagne

Made entirely from estate-grown fruit, the Symbiose is composed of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir from Gye-Sur-Seine in the southernmost part of Champagne. This wine is so clean, subtle and balanced that it will be finished before you know it. I think that is embodies all the best traits of this very good vintage; it is vibrant, pure and best of all, classically styled Champagne. I plan on putting a case in the cellar for myself! 2006 Louis Roederer Brut Nature Champagne

Jancis Robinson: "Very firm and rather unyielding initially on the nose. Textured on the palate and pretty austere initially. This is not a champagne to drink thoughtlessly as an aperitif or at a reception. This is a serious statement that demands food. The mousse is notably gentle and the whole is impressively persistent. Very dry indeed though not aggressively tart by any means. Then it seems much more substantial after a mouthful of smoked salmon on blini. And after some jamon iberico it was a revelation." (9/2014) Wine Spectator: "It’s graceful and ethereal in style, with beautiful ...Read More »

2006 Drappier "Grande Sendrée" Brut Champagne

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This vintage of Drappier’s top cuvée is showing signs of delicious maturity. With tropical fruits morphing into toast and ripe almonds, it’s a wine on the cusp of greatness. For now, there is still plenty of freshness there, tight acidity and the ripe character that’s typical of Champagnes from the Aube." (12/2014)93 points Wine Spectator: "A thread of ground spice and graphite weaves through the notes of peach, white cherry, biscuit and spun honey in this elegant version. Fresh and harmonious, with beautiful texture to the mousse, carrying the flavors to the long finish." (12/2014) ...Read More »

2006 Launois "Spécial Club" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (ships as 1.5L)

Our staff loved the 2005--"Wow this is decadent Champagne!" pretty much sums up the rave reviews--and we're excited now to offer the 2006. We began importing the Champagnes of Launois about a decade ago, though we haven't been able to promote them properly because our allocations were very tight. Fortunately for us, Bernard Launois has decided to export more! Champagne Launois' wines are highly sought after, so much so, in fact, that we've sold their Champagne to Champenois who can't get it at home! Bernard Launois does things differently than the rest o... Read More »

2006 Moët & Chandon "Grand Vintage" Brut Champagne

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This offers great balance between the freshest fruit and toasty maturity. That poise gives this impressive Champagne a tension, a high wire act that works superbly. It is rich, full of fruit but also with great depth. It will certainly age ..." (12/2014)94 points Wine Spectator: "*Highly Recommended* Sleek acidity trims the sails of this otherwise rich and expansive Champagne, keeping it finely balanced and racy throughout. Flavors of roasted hazelnut, crushed blackberry, ripe apricot, honey and ginger biscuit glide on the silky palate to a saline-tinged finish." (12/2014)92 points Antonio Galloni: "Moët's 200 ...Read More »

2006 Pol Roger Brut Rosé Champagne

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright orange-pink. Displays intense aromas of fresh red berries, orange pith, buttered toast and smoky minerals, with a suave floral nuance in the background. Fleshy and seamless on the palate, offering sappy strawberry and blood orange flavors that expand and gain sweetness with air. Closes spicy, smoky and long, with excellent clarity and no rough edges." (12/2014)93 points Wine Enthusiast: "With its mature orange, onion skin color, this is a soft, toasty wine. It is losing fruit and gaining a wide range of mature flavors while keeping tight acidity. The wine tastes drier than pr ...Read More »

2006 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Rosé Champagne

95 points Wine Spectator: "Still so fresh, this is fruity, yes, but it has such a depth of flavor with its red fruits the starting point for an adventure in tastes and textures. Produced from Roederer’s own vineyards, it is ready to drink, although it will age in bottle for many years." (12/2014)
