2002 Krug Brut Champagne

100 points James Suckling: "The much-anticipated 2002 has impeccable detail and depth with a lot of chalky, stony and flinty elements on the nose as well as a very fresh edge. The nose is very complex and wound up tight but presents itself as very integrated and compressed. There are aromas of lemon rind, lime juice and a lime custard all at once, complemented in turn by a super-restrained hazelnut-like edge. Undertones of brown mushrooms, chalky minerals and lemon leaf. The palate has a core of sizzlingly intense, concentrated chardonnay framed whitin a powerful phenolic structure ...Read More »

2005 Bollinger "Grande Année" Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2005 Bollinger "Grande Année" Brut Champagne

94 points James Suckling: "Impressive concentration and power here. This is really assertive with ripe yellow orchard fruits and citrus within a core encased in a layer of more savory, toasty notes on both the nose and palate. There's that gentle hint of aldehyde that is the traditional stamp of the house plus savory woody notes, white mushrooms and some chalk and spices, too. The palate has a fleshy opening, filling out with peach and hazelnut flavors before a smooth ride to the finish. Approachable and complex." 2008 Launois "Spécial Club" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne 750ml (ships as 1.5L)

Without a doubt, this is one of the best Champagnes that we carry at any price. Made from two plots of 65-year-old vines, one in the grand cru of Oger called the Chenys and one in Mesnil called the Derriere Maison, this is among the ultimate expressions of Chardonnay that we have to offer. The wine shows the paradox of 2008 perfectly with great ripeness and scintillating acidity. Add in the richness and complexity of old massal-selected from grand cru, mid-slope sites and you have a must buy for any Champagne lover! Unfortunately, because of the shape of... Read More »

Franck Bonville today is run by Olivier Bonville, the great grandson of Franck who acts as the proprietor of his family's estate. With 20 hectares of vineyards in the villages of Avize, Oger, Cramant and Mesnil, Bonville's wines are made entirely from Grand Cru-level Chardonnay and therefore labeled as Blanc de Blanc. Their wines always have a wonderful richness balanced by an incredibly chalky minerality that pierces through the Chardonnay flavor. 2010 Launois Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne

We began importing the Champagnes of Launois more than a decade ago, though we haven't been able to promote them properly because our allocations were very tight. Fortunately for us, Bernard Launois has decided to export more! Champagne Launois' wines are highly sought-after, so much so, in fact, that we've sold their Champagne to Champenois who can't get it at home! Bernard Launois does things differently than the rest of his neighbors, picking a week to 10 days later and using only massal-selected plants rather than the more common clones. All of the C... A wine of coiled energy, focus, precision and minerality that bores to the very core of the finest chalkfields of the Côte des Blancs." (1/2016) 97 points Vinous: "The 2006 Comtes de Champagne is striking, especially in the way it brings together elements of ripeness and freshness in a hypothetical blend of the 2002 and 2004. 2009 Egrot (formerly Elisabeth Goutorbe) Brut Grand Cru Champagne

This Champagne used to be called Elisabeth Goutorbe. Elisabeth changed the name over to her married name Egrot when she and her husband moved out of her parents facility in Ay, and into their own. This 100% Ay grand cru Champagne is composed of 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chardonnay, all from the family estate. Although the Champagne has no dosage whatsoever, it is still full and rich. It has a great nose of baguette toast, cream and some of that famous Ay chalk. The finish is long, clean and very dry, but not too strict. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

2004 Dom Pérignon Brut Rosé Champagne

Kept on the lees for at least nine years to smooth the tannins the 2004 reveals a weightless power on the palate. It has a deep and concentrated, highly elegant Pinot character (though Chardonnay and Pinot are more or less 50/50), and is full of finesse and freshness. There's a lot of deep-set complexity here. The flavors are bright and lifted throughout, but it is the wine's lithe, gracious shape that stands out most. Pear, slate, white flowers, sage and crushed rocks abound in a Dom Pérignon built on cool, brisk energy. Today, the 2004 is simply dazzling, with plenty of upside for the future. 2007 Michel Loriot "Les Sources du Flagot" Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

This all-Chardonnay Champagne is very different from most that I have tried.
