2006 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2006 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne

97 points James Suckling: "Deep pinot-driven presence is the first and lasting impression. Power with control. Superfine bead, bread and spiced biscuits, candied ripe red fruits and a sense of tight-knit complexity. Some grapefruit, lemon pith & gently flinty notes too - impressive nose. In the mouth it is rich, powerful, mouth-filling and flavoursome with a core of the same biscuity red fruit flavour, savoury nutty notes and a wrap of assertive, persistent acidity that holds rich powerful flavour deep and focused whilst maintaining a polished, gently creamy texture. Long chalky b ...Read More »

2002 Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut Champagne (Previously $349) Top Pick!
2002 Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut Champagne (Previously $349)

99 points James Suckling: "Super fresh, this is striking given the 10 years in the cellars; it has a fine citrus nose - plenty of lemon, grapefruit, yellow chalky notes, some lighter floral elements too. The palate is super dry (dosage at 3-4g) and there's a silky, sherbet-like texture, smooth, fine and long. The citrus flavours give way to the driving surging acidity, thunderous acidity, really driving and powerful. The finish twists very slowly through to light-toasted cashew fruit flavours, but lemon citrus prevails. This is thrilling Champagne. Disgorged 22nd October, 2013. Dr ...Read More »

2008 Michel Arnould Vintage "Carte d'Or" Brut Champagne

This grower-producer in Verzenay only produces vintage Champagne from their oldest vines in the most exceptional years. According to the winemaker, the 2008 Carte d'Or is "discreet and subtle with aromas of fresh breadcrumbs and apricots. The attack is soft and smooth giving this wine a certain delicacy. In the mouth, we notice aromas of English sweets combined with notes of lemon. The finale is avid and winey with a subtle impression of iodine giving this wine balance and subtlety." 2006 Baron Fuente "Grand Millésimé" Brut Champagne

91 points Wine Spectator: "Firm and focused, this structured version offers a well-meshed range of dried apricot, almond biscotti and cassis flavors, showing a clean chalkiness to the texture. Drink now through 2026." (3/2014) K&L Notes: Baron Fuente is a négociant that owns almost 90 acres of vines and purchases another 90 acres "sur pied," meaning that they pick the grapes. This is an important distinction since many négociants buy "sur lattes," meaning in bottle! 2006 Fluteau "Symbiose" Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2006 Fluteau "Symbiose" Brut Champagne

Made entirely from estate-grown fruit, the Symbiose is composed of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir from Gye-Sur-Seine in the southernmost part of Champagne. This wine is so clean, subtle and balanced that it will be finished before you know it. I think that is embodies all the best traits of this very good vintage; it is vibrant, pure and best of all, classically styled Champagne. I plan on putting a case in the cellar for myself! 2000 Krug Brut Champagne

97 points Wine & Spirits: "When first released two years ago, this wine showed some of the exoticism of the 2000 vintage, the broad flavors ranging from lobster broth to lemon zest and star anise. As it has matured, the wine’s richness is at once more baroque and more seamlessly woven into a deep golden beauty. Rather than fresh, it feels brisk and lithe. The wine’s fragrance is layered in deep complexities and elevated to sunny high notes. A glorious vintage of Krug." 2004 Bollinger "Grande Année" Brut Champagne

96 points Wine & Spirits: "Barrel fermentation gives this wine ornate complexity, while its crisp structural lines make it feel very contemporary French. The plump red fruit races with dynamism, extending the suppleness of the texture into more dramatic territory than where Champagne often ventures, and lasts with a gentler, floral grace. A youthful ten-year-old wine, this is built for long development in the cellar." (12/2013)96 points Wine Enthusiast: "*A Top 100 Cellar Selection of 2013* A blend of 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay, this is opulent and full bodied, with toast and wood flavors. 2006 Launois "Spécial Club" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (ships as 1.5L)

Our staff loved the 2005--"Wow this is decadent Champagne!" pretty much sums up the rave reviews--and we're excited now to offer the 2006. We began importing the Champagnes of Launois about a decade ago, though we haven't been able to promote them properly because our allocations were very tight. Fortunately for us, Bernard Launois has decided to export more! Champagne Launois' wines are highly sought after, so much so, in fact, that we've sold their Champagne to Champenois who can't get it at home! 2008 Louis Roederer Brut Champagne

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "A deliciously ripe wine, full of fruit as well as a great mineral texture. It completely expresses the exceptional 2008 with all its structure. Still young, it’s all fruit and freshness that promise serious bottle aging. Drink this complex, serious wine from 2017." (12/2014)93 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2008 Brut races across the palate with gorgeous depth and resonance. Dried pear, spice, mint, anise and wild flowers meld together in the glass. Very layered and juicy. This was a very hot year for Champagne and a year for pinot noir. But this is so fresh and complex. 60% pinot noir and 40% chardonnay. 10% of the pinot is fermented in barrel. Truly superb. I love the contrast between richness and freshness. It builds slowly on the palate and finishes so long and rich. This was 10 years on the lees. Mostly Pinot Noir." That said, the apple and citrus character, the mineral tight texture and crisp acidity promise some aging. The wine conveys a sense of elegance, intensity and richness. Drink now, but the wine will also age." (6/2014)94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow. 2006 Louis Roederer Brut Nature Champagne

Jancis Robinson: "Very firm and rather unyielding initially on the nose. Textured on the palate and pretty austere initially. This is not a champagne to drink thoughtlessly as an aperitif or at a reception. This is a serious statement that demands food. The mousse is notably gentle and the whole is impressively persistent. Very dry indeed though not aggressively tart by any means. Then it seems much more substantial after a mouthful of smoked salmon on blini. And after some jamon iberico it was a revelation." 2008 Louis Roederer Brut Rosé Champagne 1.5L

95 points Wine & Spirits: "This is the first vintage released from the new cellar Roederer built in 2007, dedicated to the production of rosé. It comes from the firm’s estate vineyard in Cumières. With the delicate color of a classic saignée Champagne, this has the powerful expression of a grand cru wine, performing beyond its premier cru status. The fragrant red fruit has rich succulence and a chalky undertow, along with a fierce acidity that needs time to temper in the bottle. Decant it if you open this now, to serve with mousse truffée." Made only from Chardonnay grown in the Grand Cru village of Les Mesnil-sur-Oger, it combines intense minerality, a crisp textured core and the beginnings of maturity. After having compared original releases and OEnotheque bottlings across a number of vintages going back to 1964, I am increasingly of the belief that the most enjoyable Dom Perignons are impeccably stored bottles of the original release. The 1996 Dom Perignon Rose is simply off the charts. What a wine. The 1996 Rose has begun to fill out rather dramatically. Today it is rich, powerful and totally seductive. (AG)" (11/2010)95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, amber-tinged pink with pinpoint bubbles. Deep, smoky and complex, with a kaleidoscop ...Read More »

2004 Moët & Chandon "Grand Vintage" Brut Rosé Champagne

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This serious, ripe offering is packed with red berry and stone fruit flavors. It also has complex touches of toast and acidity, producing a sense of dryness. This is finely balanced and is now ready to drink, but it will also likely age for a few more years" (12/2012)93 points Wine Spectator: "A firm, focused version, this is driven by smoke-tinged minerality and racy acidity, while flavors of strawberry pâte de fruit, candied orange zest, apricot tart and ground ginger and clove mesh with the sleek structure. Drink now through 2026." (12/2013)92 points Antonio Galloni: "Much more typical of the year, 2004 Bru ...Read More »

2002 Ruinart "Dom Ruinart" Brut Rosé Champagne

95 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2002 Dom Ruinart Rosé bursts across the palate with superb intensity and plenty of 2002 vintage opulence. Pomegranate, blood orange, red cherry, spice and white pepper are all very much alive in the glass. A rich, intense wine, the 2002 possesses terrific persistence and fabulous overall balance. The aromatics are just starting to show hints of development, but the 2002 has the pure density to drink well for many, many years. The vivid, crystalline finish is a thing of beauty. The 2002 is 80% Chardonnay (the Dom Ruinart base) with the addition of 20% ...Read More »

2002 Ayala "Perle d'Ayala" Brut Champagne

95 points Wine & Spirits: "Ah, 2002. Where else but in Champagne can you buy a 12-year-old wine with this freshness of fruit, immediately brisk with scents of lemon and orange, generously layering in flavors of golden plums? At first, all that fruit seems heady, but air brings out the rootier depths, acidity ghosting the finish with the sort of masculine power that will make great 2002s riveting wines for decades. If you open this now, decant it and have a platter of shellfish on hand, especially cracked crab claws." (12/2013)93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale gold. A heady, complex bouquet displays an array o ...Read More »

2007 Ayala Blanc de Blancs Champagne

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Blanc de Blancs has shed its initial minerality and gained rich fruitiness. Apricots as well as more citrus flavors abound, bringing out a full and round character. From Grand Cru vineyards on the Côte des Blancs, this is ready to drink." (12/2014)92 points Antonio Galloni: "(made from fruit grown in the Grand Cru villages of Cramant, Avize and Oger and the Premier Cru villages of Cuis and Vertus): Pale gold. A lively, sharply focused bouquet evokes fresh citrus fruits, quince, white flowers and honey, with suave leesy and mineral qualities building in the glass. Rich yet livel ...Read More »
