2002&2006 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne Tasting Lot
Bid on this 2-bottle 2002&2006 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne Tasting Lot , including 1-bottle of 2002 Moet & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (98VN, 96RP, 96W&S, 95WS) and 1-bottle of 2006 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne (97JS, 97VN, 96RP, 95WS). Of the 2002 Moet & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne,Vinous writes: "The 2002 Dom Pérignon speaks to opulence and intensity. Rich, layered and voluptuous in the glass, the 2002 shows off its flamboyant personality with flair. Butter, cooked apple and tropically-leaning fruits mesh together effortlessly. Interestingly, with time in the glass the 2002 gains in freshness and energy without losing its essential opulence. The elevated ripeness of the year gives the 2002 Dom Pérignon distinctly Puligny-Montrachet leaning inflections. Chef de Caves Richard Geoffroy adds that August that year was hot and very dry. Rain towards the end of the month and into early September freshened the vines and accelerated the final phase of ripening.

2004 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2004 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne

97 points Vinous: "A Champagne of crystalline precision, the 2004 Dom Pérignon once again shows off its pedigree and total class. Everything about the 2004 speaks to nuance. The flavors are bright and lifted throughout, but it is the wine's lithe, gracious shape that stands out most. Pear, slate, white flowers, sage and crushed rocks abound in a Dom Pérignon built on cool, brisk energy. Today, the 2004 is simply dazzling, with plenty of upside for the future. Pastry, apricot, lemon confit, chamomile and white flowers, along with soft contours, give the wine its inviting, alluring personality. It has weight and richness, with a dense, full and rich texture. It’s in perfect balance, bringing together maturity and crisper apple and green plum fruit flavors that are cut with lemon. A mineral edge gives a nervy character that will allow this magnificent wine to age further. The palate is dense and citric, as if limes and lemons are squeezed on a chalky rock. Michel Arnould Carte d'Or Brut Champagne Jeroboam (3L)

A mistake at the winery kept the vintage off of the labels of these Jeroboams... So we have knocked $75 off each Jeroboam. This wine is a blend of very old vine (50+ years) Verzenay Pinot Noir and Oger Chardonnay in equal proportions. The Chardonnay comes from Delphine Cazals, Olivier Bonville's wife, who trades Patrick for red wine so she can make rose. This wine has been given the time that it needs for the two very different terroirs to marry, and is a spectacular example of the small scale blending of two great villages. 2006 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Elizabeth" Rosé Champagne

94 points Vinous: "The 2006 Rosé Cuvée Elisabeth Salmon is powerful, intense and also classically austere in its make up. Crushed flowers, mint, red berries and cranberries are all finely sketched. The 2006 finishes with striking mineral-driven precision, and while it doesn’t have the opulence or exuberance of the 2002, it is still a very pretty and appealing Champagne. The Elisabeth Salmon is 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, with about 8% still Pinot Noir. Dosage is 6 grams per liter. 94+ Points (AG)" (8/2016) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Produced from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this balances ripe r ...Read More »

Louis Roederer "Brut Premier" Champagne Jeroboam (3L)

92 points James Suckling: "Beautifully composed reduction across lemon citrus, white peach, cherries and deeper, more savory notes of spice and grilled nuts; fresh and complex at once. The palate's assertively flavored, yet runs on a smooth and fine textural thread. Acidity is paramount, redder fruits hold court here. Great balance and depth." (7/2015) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "To judge by the cork, this bottling has some age, giving it a toasty as well as fruity character that adds complexity to this baked-apple and citrus-flavored wine. It also means that it needs no further aging and is delicious to drink ...Read More »

Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne Methuselah (6L) (Previously $1100)

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This remains quite fresh with its cool nose of apple, citrus and exuberant yeast elements that continue onto the crisp, intense and energetic flavors that terminate in a saline-inflected, wonderfully complex and beautifully well-balanced finale. In contrast to some '90s today, this is still in terrific shape and should continue to hold if not improve for years to come. In a word, lovely." (10/2015) 92 points James Suckling: "This famous Yellow Label is is in great shape with a really fresh and complex integrated feel to it from head to toe. The nose has plenty of lemon and grapefrui ...Read More »

2009 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Fascination" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (1.5L)

Alexandre Le Brun is the smallest producer that we import, or even carry from Champagne at just 7.5 acres. He only makes wine from half of the grapes he brings in, selling the rest off to negociants--his production is just one thousand cases a year total. This tiny scale allows Alex to do nearly everything himself and this hands-on approach shows through in the finished product. He only uses his own estate fruit for his Champagne, and although small, it is diverse. He farms 22 plots in eight different villages. Among these are the oldest vines that I hav... Read More »

Billecart-Salmon "Brut Reserve" Champagne Mathusalem (6L)

92 points James Suckling: "This has impressive ripe stone fruits on the nose with peaches, mangoes, melon and cherries. Really upbeat and attractive purity. The palate follows the same thread of fruit characters with a clever balance of flesh and crunch, a bright finish and good balance. Drink now. A blend of roughly equal thirds of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier." (10/2016) 91 points Wine Spectator: "This bright Champagne is sleek and mouthwatering, with tightly knit flavors of glazed apricot, biscuit, nectarine and verbena. Clean-cut and lacy on the finish. Drink now through 2018. (AN)" (11/2016) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "* ...Read More »

2006 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne Magnum (1.5L)

98 points Vinous: "One of the highlights in this tasting, the 2006 Cristal Rosé is simply stunning. A vertical, towering wine, the 2006 Cristal Rosé is a thrill a minute, with a compelling interplay of aromatics and exquisitely layered fruit, all supported by a real feeling of phenolic intensity. While the 2007 is seductive, the 2006 is virile and imposing, with the statuesque lift of a Giacometti sculpture. All the elements meld together in a complete, alluring Champagne that will continue to drink beautifully for many decades. In 2006, the Pinot Noir was already being fa ...Read More »

1999 Billecart-Salmon "Le Clos Saint-Hilaire" Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne

96 points Vinous: "Billecart's 1999 Le Clos Saint-Hilaire is exotic and beguiling. Constantly changing in the glass, the 1999 offers exquisite aromatics, silky and a real sense of underlying phenolic structure. Crushed rose petals, licorice, smoke, game and tobacco add nuance as the wine opens up. With time in the glass, the personality of these Pinot vines becomes more and more expressive. The 1999 was bottled with no dosage, but that would be impossible to ascertain in a blind tasting. (AG)" (7/2015) K&L Notes: Clos Saint-Hilaire is located, like Clos de Goisses, in Mareuil-sur-Ay.
