1989 Suduiraut, Sauternes (375ml) Top Pick!
1989 Suduiraut, Sauternes (375ml)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Exotically perfumed violet and rose petals burst on your palate, accompanied by dried apricot, lemon and honey flavors. Gorgeous and subtle, glowing on the finish." (4/1995) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from the Château reserves at the estate. The ’89 is a little lighter in hue compared to the Suduiraut ’90. The nose offers caramelized pear, frangipane, yellow flowers and a touch of quince, moderate vigour at first, but opening nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of bitter orange rind on the entry, marmalade, quince and a mandarin and dried apricot o ...Read More »

2005 Guiraud, Sauternes (375ml)

97 points James Suckling: "This appears to be the synthesis of the fabulous 2001 and 2003. It shows wonderful aromas of botrytis spice, honey and citrus rind. Lots of fruit with a tropical fruit undertone of mango and papaya on the palate. Intense finish." (7/2013) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Delivers lots of botrytis spice, with lemon tart and cooked apple. Full-bodied, with loads of cream and vanilla and an intense tropical fruit and honey aftertaste. 2005 Raymond-Lafon, Sauternes (375ml)

91-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "(No tasting note given)" (4/2008) 93 points Wine Spectator: "This is pure and precise, showing rich apricot, peach and clementine flavors, but great cut too, with a mouthwatering edge that lets chamomile, green plum and honeysuckle notes dance through the finish. Gorgeous. (JM, Web-2011)" 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow-gold. Superripe but precise aromas of mirabelle, white nectarine and honey. 2015 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml) (Pre-Arrival)

99-100 points James Suckling: "This is an incredible young Yquem that is so vinous like a great vintage of Montrachet but then on the palate it turns to Yquem with spice, dried fruit and mushroom as well as sweet fruit. Last for minutes. Acidity is all there giving it a dynamic vibrance that jolts your senses. Special wine. It has a little more than than 140 grams of residual sugar, less than the legendary of 2001. But is very close in greatness. Let’s wait and see." Just when you think that's all there is, toasted coconut, fig, orange blossom and persimmon details kick in, lending length and dimension. The finish is ridiculously long. John Gilman: "I was very surprised to like the 1999 Yquem a bit better than I liked the 2001, as the vintage in general seems to be decidedly stronger in Sauternes in 2001. The 1999 Yquem offers up a complex and classic nose of toasted coconut, oranges, honey, butter, lovely soil tones, fresh apricot and a lovely framing of vanillin oak. Long and delicious already. Lovely balance for having such a ripe finish. This can age forever, but why deny yourself?" (3/2013) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Intense aromas of pecan pie, dried apricot, apples and syrup. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with a dense mouthfeel of very ripe fruit and a long, powerful and spicy aftertaste. Very, very impressive. Not quite the 2001, but who's arguing? Best after 2010. 2007 Suduiraut, Sauternes

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Powered by dry botrytis, this is a wine with immense potential. It has weight, complexity and richness, all under the cloak of botrytis. To leaven the power, there is acidity, but this is certainly for aging. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (6/2010) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Dried lemon and floral aromas lead to loads of botrytis spice and bitter lemon peel in this young, full-bodied sweetie, with hints of lively lime and honey. Medium sweet. Very intense. *Collectibles* (JS)" (3/2010) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Suduiraut is a Sauternes that is just beginning to "motor" as it approaches its tenth birthday. 2005 Suduiraut, Sauternes

97 points James Suckling: "What a wine for the vintage, with spices and furniture wax undertones, then dried citrus fruit. Great intensity in this, powerful stuff. Perhaps the best 2005." (3/2013) 96 points Wine & Spirits: "Bright gold. Perfectly balanced. Not sweet, and yet explosively sweet with flavors of fresh nectarine, scents of jasmine and honeysuckle. The sweetness pours out of the freshness, so it's impossible to taste them apart. The flavors last, perhaps because it's the kind of wine you'll want to roll around in your mouth over and over. Glorious." (10/2008) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Picked over a period of eight weeks, this ...Read More »

Outstanding intensity. Best after 2008." (07/06) 92(+?) points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium yellow-gold. 2001 Coutet, Sauternes

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Here is a typical Coutet nose that is just beginning to find its groove: barley sugar and quince scents typifying Barsac, augmented by Seville orange and lime. The palate is viscous and extremely well focused with fine mineralité and tension. It feels quite youthful and linear vis-à-vis its peers and concludes with a tangy, marmalade-lavished finish. (NM)" (10/2014) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Subdued but pure aromas of mirabelle, peach, pear and pineapple; hints at a roasted botrytis ripeness. Then fat and rich in the mouth, with a captivating flavor of roasted peach. Impressively b ...Read More »

2005 d'Yquem, Sauternes

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This isn’t sweet, but just so wonderfully rich. It’s the concentration of botrytis that makes the wine. The texture is velvet, but with a spicy bite to it. Apricot, honey and marzipan all contribute to a wine that will age over decades. (RV)" (12/2009) 97 points Wine Spectator: "This has a deliciously pure feel, with juicy, inviting green plum, ginger, heather, creamed pineapple and Jonagold apple flavors all melded together and gliding through the lengthy finish, which echoes with lilting flowers and dried citrus notes. Best from 2015 through 2045. (JM, Web-2012)" 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the prope ...Read More »

(4/2016) 97 points Decanter: "Taking things to another dimension, this has power, spice, and a saffron-edged sexiness. Quince, roasted white peaches and bitter oranges are coupled with a biting seam of white pepper. There's such density here, and a soft, silky texture with a kick. (JA)" (11/2017) 97 points Vinous: "The 2015 Rieussec is gorgeous. Scents of apricot jam, honey, mint and wild flowers lift from the glass.
