2006 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge, Pessac-Léognan

94 points James Suckling: "Just coming around now, the 2006 shows beautiful meat, forest floor, tobacco and berry character. It's medium to full-bodied. Savory finish. Drink now or hold." (11/2015) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "While it doesn’t have huge power, this wine does have many great attributes. It is smoothly ripe, its open structure a fine reflection of the elegant style, edged with minerality. The acidity is pure, not too dominant, but lifting the generous fruit and final dry character. (RV)" (11/2011) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Black fruits, licorice, tobacco and cedary oak on the nose. Dense and fine-grained, w ...Read More »

2006 Gloria, St-Julien (1.5L)

90 points Wine Spectator: "Offers blackberry and black licorice on the nose, turning to light jam. Full-bodied, with lovely, silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. Beautiful and refined. Best after 2012. (JS)" (3/2009) K&L Notes: Earthy, black fruit aromas. Plummy. Sweet all the way through. Great depth. Very nice wine. Bravo. *+ Ralph Sands: Nice combo of ripe black fruits in a solid package. Just amazingly consistent wine made by Gloria, and what a value!

2006 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cantemerle was the "surprise package" of the blind tasting at Farr Vintners' horizontal. It has a conservative nose with rosemary and undergrowth scents that open nicely in the glass, but retain a sense of classicism. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, lightly spiced red berry fruit, sage and white pepper, quite persistent on the finish, which feels very pure. What an outstanding 2006 Claret - a Cantemerle that punches well above its weight. Tasted April 2016. (NM)" (5/2016) Jancis Robinson: "40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 9% Cabe ...Read More »

2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Pontet-Canet has an extremely pure, vivacious, perfumed bouquet with crushed violets infusing the blueberry and blackberry fruit. But it is all about the detail and precision in this wine. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip in the mouth: lightly toasted black fruit, dried orange peel, cedar and a pinch of white pepper. This feels very cohesive and poised with just a touch of mint entering right on the finish. What a great wine from Alfred Tesseron and Jean-Michel ...Read More »

2006 Gazin, Pomerol (1.5L)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Complex aromas of green coffee bean, tarragon and blackberry, turning to licorice and violet. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and beautiful fruit. Very balanced and refined for the vintage. Exceptional for this estate. A real beauty. (JS)" (3/2009) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Gazin has a delightful bouquet with small dark cherries, blueberry and iodine aromas, completely different to the 2006 Nénin, much more vigorous and cohesive. This is a bouquet with a sense of purpose. The palate is medium-bodie ...Read More »

2006 Duhart-Milon, Pauillac

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "**Cellar Selection** The character of this wine, a straight line of tannins and black currant fruit flavors, is the model of a classic Pauillac. It has all the structure as well as some austerity and severity at this stage in its development. But the fruit texture is rich enough, dried fruits and spice followed by licorice and bitter chocolate. Age for five years at least." (3/2009) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It is no longer an insider’s secret that the investments made by the Rothschild family (of Lafite) in Duhart Milon are paying big dividends. A shrewd Pauillac lover’s delight, ...Read More »

2006 Palmer, Margaux (375ml)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Palmer was wonderful out of barrel ten years ago and now in bottle, it fulfills its promise with a stunning, precise bouquet of maraschino, iodine, cassis and tobacco scents that seem a few years younger than its Margaux peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin that cloak its sweet core of cassis and blackcurrant fruit. However, what is so striking is the fineness of the tannin and just how well that oak is subsumed into the fabric of the wine. This is a long-term ...Read More »

2006 Langoa-Barton, St-Julien

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Langoa Barton has a lifted nose of small dark cherries, blackberry, incense and marmalade - quite showy for Langoa Barton - but there is joie-de-vivre here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, ripe and demonstrating impressive density plus a firm grip. This really coats the mouth in tannin, although it is still balanced. It just needs another 4-5 years in bottle, the stubborn little lady. Tasted January 2016. (NM)" (5/2016) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Soft and ripe, here is a wine that just e ...Read More »

2006 Doisy-Védrines, Sauternes

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A richly liquorous wine, ripe and packed with harmonious sweet textures. At the same time over the ripe structure there is a layer of lively lemon, spice and ginger, spiked with fresh tangerines. The end result is smooth, balanced and vibrant." (03/09) 90 points Stephen Tanzer: "Bright yellow-gold. Good citrus zest lift to the aromas of apricot, orange peel, marzipan and honey. Smooth, sweet and nicely concentrated, with a tactile, chewy quality to the honey and orange blossom flavors. With aeration, this showed a building fr... Read More »

2006 Branaire-Ducru, St-Julien

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "** Editors' Choice ** Taking advantage of the delicious fruit of 2006, this Branaire-Ducru shows a charming side. It brings out ripe, spicy black plums and black cherry spice to go with the lively, fresh tannins. That’s not to say that there isn’t structure, but today it is the fruit that dominates." (3/2009) 90 points Wine Spectator: "There's lots of blackberry, licorice and tar on the nose. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and plenty of fruit. Not the most complex wine, but outstanding. Best after 2014." (3/2009) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Brooding nose offers dark plum, blueberry, menthol and viole ...Read More »

2006 Lagrange, St-Julien

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Very elegant, very classy, this wine shows, discreetly, its sweet juicy fruit, great ripe black currant flavor and fine tannins. Nothing is overstated; this is for lovers of stylish wines." (3/2009) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A very strong effort from Lagrange in 2006, this estate’s tendency for including a nearly overwhelming oak component in its wines has been tamed in this cuvee, resulting in a better-balanced, potentially complex offering. A deep opaque purple color is followed by aromas of espresso roast, subtle pain grille, black currants, and cigar box. Full-bodied and surpri ...Read More »

2006 Larcis Ducasse, St-Emilion

92 points James Suckling: "This is very exciting with slightly exotic character of dark fruits, citrus and minerals. An almost orange peel undertone. Full body, with silky tannins and a delicious finish. Refined. It’s just starting to come around now." (2/2014) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted both at the château and then blind at Farr Vintners' tasting, the 2006 Château Larcis Ducasse is maturing nicely, far better than the Beauséjour Duffau Lagarrosse that I tasted side by side. It has plenty of ripe black cherry, strawberry pastille and creme de cassis on the nose, quite opulent for the vintage and well d ...Read More »

2006 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux

93 points James Suckling: "Wonderful complexity of fruit on the nose, with sweet tobacco, cherries, dried strawberries and flowers. Full body with well-integrated tannins and a complex finish. Ultra-fine tannins. Drink or hold." (6/2013) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Finely structured, this has become an impressive wine, gaining in intensity as it develops. The tannins are powerful but come from concentrated fruit as much as from wood. It is becoming a powerhouse of ripe flavors. This is a wine that shows how Malescot St-Exupéry is joining the top ranks in Margaux." (3/2009) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Complex aromas of truffle, blackberry a ...Read More »

2006 l'Arrosee, St-Emilion

According to Robert Parker: "this 2006 reveals notions of crushed rocks, and sweet kirsch and raspberry notes in a medium to full-bodied, elegant style. Its elevated tannins suggest that this wine may not turn out as well as I had hoped. Good purity and potential complexity are there, but the tannins are worrisome. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020?" (02/09) K&L's notes on 01/23/09: exotic Asian spices, very perfumey wine. Clyde loves this!

2006 La Lagune, Haut-Médoc

91 points James Suckling: "This is racy for a 2006 with plenty of tobacco, berries and hints of mushroom. Light, stylish earthy character. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a pretty finish with lovely tension. Drink or hold." (3/2015) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Having just had the 2005 La Lagune, which I think is the greatest La Lagune I have ever tasted, the 2006 certainly loses some prestige in comparison, but this is an outstanding wine and further evidence of just how strong this estate’s wines have become. Sweet plum and red and black currant fruit, intermixed with notes of resiny pine forest and for ...Read More »

2006 Coutet, Sauternes

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "It is the poise, the elegance of Coutet that shows so well in this delicious wine. It is ripe, with layers of apricot and peach, lifted with spice and an over-arching sweet acidity that gives the wine a wonderful, heart-stopping lift." 94 points Wine Spectator: "Almost as excellent as the 2003. There's intense botrytis spice on the nose, with lemon peel and dried pineapple. Full-bodied, superspicy and intense. Extremely racy. A beautiful wine. Best after 2014." (3/2009) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Light to medium gold with a greenish hue, this wine exhibits wonderfully pure notes of wood spice such as vanillin, ...Read More »

2006 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (3L)
Bid on this 3L-bottle lot of 2006 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (3L) (96WE, 95RP, 95ST, 95WS). Wine Enthusiast: "As so often with Lafite, it is power that marks this wine. That, and density of texture. The additional element in this vintage, and at this stage of the wine’s development, is a dominant wood element. The vanilla and tannins from the wood match well with the concentrated tannins of the fruit, which is dark, dense and tight. This is a wine for long-term aging: in 15 years this will have superb richness. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (03/2009)

2006 Pavie-Decesse, St-Emilion

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Planted in pure limestone above Gerard Perse’s other famous vineyard/terroir, Chateau Pavie, this 10-acre site’s vines average 47 years of age. Fashioned from remarkably low yields, this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc is a powerful, dense, tannic wine that will require considerable time to round into shape. It exhibits a dense purple color along with sweet aromas of mulberries, black currants, minerals, cold steel, graphite, and background spice. Full-bodied, highly-extracted, dense, and made in an unfashionably tannic, broodingly backward st ...Read More »

2006 Fleur Cardinale, St-Emilion

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 75% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, this up-and-coming estate has fashioned an outstanding 2006. While not as prodigious as the 2005, it is an exceptional effort boasting a dense purple hue as well as sweet aromas of blueberries, dark raspberries, licorice, camphor, and pain grille. Full-bodied, powerful, and layered with impressive purity, texture, and length, this unfined and unfiltered wine should be at its finest between 2013-2022.
