2006 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc Top Pick!
2006 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cantemerle was the "surprise package" of the blind tasting at Farr Vintners' horizontal. It has a conservative nose with rosemary and undergrowth scents that open nicely in the glass, but retain a sense of classicism. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, lightly spiced red berry fruit, sage and white pepper, quite persistent on the finish, which feels very pure. What an outstanding 2006 Claret - a Cantemerle that punches well above its weight. Tasted April 2016. (NM)" (5/2016) 91 points James Suckling: "Very attractive with complex aromas and flavors of berry, mu ...Read More »

2006 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2009* Right at the top of its form, this 2006 is one of the finest wines to come out of the vintage. The wine is structured and dense, but with such heartwarming ripe fruit that the tannins are almost submerged. There is just a hint of wood, but juicy black currant continues right through to the end. In a year, the fruit will lessen, and long aging begin. (RV)" (3/2009) 94 points Wine Spectator: "There's a great dark color to this, with intense aromas of cedar, wood, new leather and crushed blackberry. Fullbodied, with loads of fruit and a firm, powerfu ...Read More »

2006 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the property, the 2006 Château Pichon-Lalande has a voluminous bouquet with outgoing blackberry, cassis and violets scents, a touch of boysenberry jam tucked just underneath, although it does not quite have the delineation of the Lynch Bages. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This feels very composed in the mouth, quite fresh with well-judged acidity, harmonious and tensile on the finish. This deserves a higher score than I awarded out of barrel and it continues to improve year by year. (NM)" (5/2016) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "The success of this wine owes as ...Read More »

2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac Top Pick!
2006 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Pontet-Canet has an extremely pure, vivacious, perfumed bouquet with crushed violets infusing the blueberry and blackberry fruit. But it is all about the detail and precision in this wine. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip in the mouth: lightly toasted black fruit, dried orange peel, cedar and a pinch of white pepper. This feels very cohesive and poised with just a touch of mint entering right on the finish. What a great wine from Alfred Tesseron and Jean-Michel ...Read More »

2006 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux

93 points James Suckling: "Wonderful complexity of fruit on the nose, with sweet tobacco, cherries, dried strawberries and flowers. Full body with well-integrated tannins and a complex finish. Ultra-fine tannins. Drink or hold." (6/2013) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Finely structured, this has become an impressive wine, gaining in intensity as it develops. The tannins are powerful but come from concentrated fruit as much as from wood. It is becoming a powerhouse of ripe flavors. This is a wine that shows how Malescot St-Exupéry is joining the top ranks in Margaux." (3/2009) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Complex aromas of truffle, blackberry a ...Read More »

2006 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This classic, powerful, firm Lynch Bages may be as concentrated (if not more so) than the 2005. It possesses a dense purple-tinged color, tell-tale cassis notes interwoven with hints of roast beef, savory herbs, spice box and subtle oak, good acidity and ripe tannin. (RP)" (8/2011) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Year after year, Lynch-Bages is able to produce sumptuous wines, typically rich, powerful and structured. This is solid, the blackberry ripe fruit enveloping this structure with a velvet sheen. This is developing into one of the successes of the vintage. (RV)" (3/2009) 92 points James Suckling: "Very focuse ...Read More »

2006 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge, Pessac-Léognan

94 points James Suckling: "Just coming around now, the 2006 shows beautiful meat, forest floor, tobacco and berry character. It's medium to full-bodied. Savory finish. Drink now or hold." (11/2015) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "While it doesn’t have huge power, this wine does have many great attributes. It is smoothly ripe, its open structure a fine reflection of the elegant style, edged with minerality. The acidity is pure, not too dominant, but lifting the generous fruit and final dry character. (RV)" (11/2011) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Black fruits, licorice, tobacco and cedary oak on the nose. Dense and fine-grained, w ...Read More »

2006 de Fonbel, St-Émilion

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sleeper of the vintage from the perfectionist proprietor of Chateau Ausone, Alain Vauthier, this elegant St.-Emilion offers up scents of lead pencil shavings intermixed with blueberries, black currants, and boysenberries, and plenty of minerality. This 2006 should drink nicely for 10-12 years. Good value. (RP)" (2/2009) Wine Enthusiast: "Fresh black currant fruit gives this wine all the vivacity of the 2006 vintage. It is a beautiful, elegantly crafted wine, as you would expect from the same team as Château Ausone, and it has a lovely lightness of touch, with its final no ...Read More »

2006 Latour, Pauillac 2018 Ex-Chateau Release (Pre-Arrival)

97 points Decanter: "Powerful, concentrated and seriously young tannins are closed tight around the pure, intense, dark, sweet fruits, followed by a deep undertow of liquorice, cloves and graphite. Extraordinary balance, polish and control. Textbook Pauillac. Drinking Window 2020-2045. (JA)" (6/2016) 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Latour has always had the reputation of producing great wines in the less great vintages. The 2006 is a case in point. It brings structure and ripeness into a form that is almost ethereal. That elegance doesn't take away from the powerful fruit. The fruit in fact melds into the st ...Read More »

2006 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac Back In Stock!
2006 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "As so often with Lafite, it is power that marks this wine. That, and density of texture. The additional element in this vintage, and at this stage of the wine’s development, is a dominant wood element. The vanilla and tannins from the wood match well with the concentrated tannins of the fruit, which is dark, dense and tight. This is a wine for long-term aging: in 15 years this will have superb richness. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (3/2009) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then blind at Farr Vintners tasting. 2006 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Montrose, St-Estèphe (94W&S, 94WE, 93WS, 92JS). Wine Enthusiast: "Yes, this wine is tannic. To begin with it seems austere and mineral. But then the substrate of black berry juice asserts itself. The fruits are fresh rather than sweet, combining with leather, spice and a presence of new wood. Typical of Montrose, it is hard to appreciate this young, with those tannins needing to open out. But wait 10 years. *Best of 2009, Cellar Selection* (RV) " (03/2009)

2006 Margaux, Margaux Back In Stock!
2006 Margaux, Margaux

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is not a big Château Margaux, its style showing more elegance and discretion. The tannins are soft, although producing a dense web that lies underneath the black currant and plum fruit flavors. It is a wine that envelops the mouth, an edge of firmness over velvet fruit textures. The wine floats away slowly on the close. (RV)" (3/2012) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Margaux has a sense of airiness and wonderful definition on the nose: wild strawberry, redcurrant, cedar and crushed roses soaring from the ...Read More »

2006 Ormes de Pez, St-Estèphe

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Under the same ownership as Lynch-Bages, Les Ormes de Pez offers a family likeness in the richness of this wine. At the same time, dry tannins are very much up front-'firm' is the word to describe this wine, which needs 2-3 years to open up." (3/2009) Jancis Robinson: "Aromatic. Medium intensity. Gentle, mild, well balanced with acid more noticeable than the fine tannins. This should eventually become something pretty charming, I think. 17/20 points. Drink 2015-2025." (1/2010) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Somewhat herbaceous but round and sensual, with sweet cherry and cassis fruit as well as hints of in ...Read More »

2006 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Pichon Lalande, which blows away the 2005, represents a return to the velvety-textured, rich, sexy style most readers would associate with Pichon Lalande. This blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot no Petit Verdot was included in the final blend exhibits a dense purple color as well as abundant aromas of chocolate, coffee, cedar, black currants, and a subtle touch of smoke, a rich, savory, full-bodied mouthfeel, plump, fleshy fruit, and a superb finish. This is a 21st century version of the brilliant 1996. Anticipated maturity: 2013-203 ...Read More »

2006 Clos du Marquis, St-Julien

92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers violet and blackberry on the nose, with tar. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a fruity, minerally aftertaste. Long and silky. Very serious for the vintage. Best after 2013." (03/09) 90 points Robert Parker: "As usual, the second wine, the 2006 Clos du Marquis, exhibits a character similar to the grand vin, but it is a more fruit-forward effort with sweeter tannins, and a more precocious, evolved personality. With super intense black cherry and cedary notes intermixed with hints of licorice and barrique, this deep, ... Read More »
