2007 Château de Montfaucon "Baron Louis" Côtes du Rhône

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A new discovery for me, the 2007 Cotes du Rhone (a 4,000+-case blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Cinsault, and Counoise) is a seriously built, concentrated, powerful effort displaying notes of garrigue, pepper, lavender, kirsch, and black currants. It also exhibits that wonderful seaweed wrapper (nori) scent that seems to be a characteristic of many southern Rhone wines. (RP)" (10/2009) Wine Spectator: "Ripe and still youthful, offering a solid core of blackberry and boysenberry fruit, liberally laced with dark licorice and sweet spice notes. The still-fleshy finish is ...Read More »

2007 Domaine de Cristia Châteauneuf-du-Pape

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I find the 2007 vintage to be one of the most distinctive vintages in the past two decades, and Cristia's 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has the classic incense, lavender, flowers and spice characteristics of the vintage in spades. Full-bodied, decadent, layered and sexy, it's one seriously hedonistic wine that has no hard edges, a full, ripe mid-palate and a great finish (JD)." (9/2015) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe and seamless, with a gorgeous mouthfeel to the raspberry, mulled spice, crushed currant and melted licorice notes. Long and fleshy, with a buried minerality extending the f ...Read More »

2007 Domaine Saint Damien "La Louisiane" Gigondas

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The downright sexy 2007 Gigondas La Louisiane (80% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah) is about as exuberant and perfumed as they come. It offers a smorgasbord of ripe blackberry, garrigue, smoked meats and exotic Provencal spices on the nose. This full-bodied, rich, unctuous and sweetly fruited beauty won't appeal to those looking for lightweight aromas and flavors, but it stays light and graceful on the palate, with still present, yet sweet tannin. It’s a smoking good Gigondas I’d happily drink any day over the coming 4-6 years. (JD)" (2/2017) 92-93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright p ...Read More »

2007 Domaine Senechaux Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Elsewhere $65)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Senechaux’s 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape is one sexy Chateauneuf that has notes of ripe black cherries, garrigue and flowers soaring from the glass. Ripe, full-bodied and showing the purity, complexity and seamlessness that’s the hallmark of this vintage (and the estate), it’s drinking at point but will keep for another 7-8 years with no issues. (JD)" (2/2017) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh, pure and well-defined, with a beam of dark currant, fig and boysenberry fruit kept honest by graphite and black tea notes. The seamless finish sails on. Drink now through 2022. (JM)" (11/2009) 90 points Vinous: "Deep ...Read More »

2007 Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (375ml)

96+ points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Vieux Telegraphe may be the greatest wine made at this property since the 2005 and 1998. Dense ruby/purple-tinged with an exquisite nose of salty sea breezes, licorice, ground pepper, jammy black cherries, black currants, figs, and plums, this is a full-bodied, rich, Provencal-styled offering with lots of sweet, ripe tannin. It is surprisingly accessible for a Vieux Telegraphe (this wine normally shuts down several years after bottling), but it should have great longevity (25+ years) given its power, full-bodied mouthf... 2007 Xavier Vins "Cuvée Anonyme" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Except for Henri Bonneau's 2007 Reserve des Celestins (which is still in barrel), the last 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape to be released will be Xavier Vignon’s Anonyme. This sensational wine spent three years in a combination of demi-muids and small oak. It boasts an inky/purple color along with a sweet nose of underbrush, garrigue, licorice, blackberries and black currants. Full, thick, unctuously textured and even flamboyant, this stunning 2007 should drink well for another 15-20 years... 2007 Domaine de Ferrand Châteauneuf-du-Pape

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the wines of the vintage is the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape from Philippe Bravey, and I’ve drunk more than a case of this wine and have consistently rated it at the upper end of the spectrum (however, some bottles suffer from too much volatile acidity). Big, full-bodied, layered and unctuous, it has a huge nose of garrigue, black fruits, saddle leather and licorice. I absolutely love this wine and would happily drink bottles over the coming decade. 2007 M. Chapoutier "Barbe Rac" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac, which comes from the western part of the appellation from a vineyard planted in 1901 and 1902, is, like the Croix de Bois, 100% Grenache aged totally in cement tanks. It boasts a dense purple color along with a sumptuous nose of black raspberries, black currants, incense, camphor, licorice, and garrigue. Full-bodied, voluptuously-textured, exuberant, rich, and pure with stunning depth and concentration, it can be drunk young or cellared for 15-20 years. 2007 E. Guigal "Brune et Blonde" Côte-Rôtie (375ml)

Juicy and well-defined on the palate, offering fresh blackberry and bitter cherry flavors that expand on the back end. Finishes sweet and very long, with resonating floral and spice notes and impressive energy. (JR)" (3/2012) 92 points Rhone Report: "An impressive ’07 that does everything right, the 2007 E. Just a flat out sensational bottle of wine, it offers tons of black currants, licorice, roasted meats and toasted spice aromas and flavors in a full-bodied, seamless, perfectly balanced style that’s drunk well since release. 2007 Château Simian "Les Grandes Grenachieres d'Hippolyte" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Previously $130)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An astonishing effort, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Grandes Grenachieres comes from a combination of Grenache vines planted in 1880, and younger vines planted in 1948. An incredible sleeper of the vintage to the extent anyone can find any of the 350 or so cases produced, it boasts a dense ruby/purple color in addition to an awesome aromatic display of spring flowers, sweet black raspberries and black cherries, and forest floor. 2007 Domaine de la Janasse "XXL" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Offering a port-like bouquet of blackberry jam, beef blood, black licorice and roasted herbs, it hits the palate with an incredible amount of fruit and texture yet always stays balanced, fresh and lively, with a finish that just won’t quit. 2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel’s 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out even better out of bottle than I predicted. An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a glorious nose of blue and black fruits, truffles, pen ink, licorice, and meat juices as well as glorious levels of acidity and sweet tannin, buttressing the fruit’s fabulous freshness and vibrancy. This full-bodied effort still displays considerable tannin, no doubt because of the relatively high Mourvedre content. It should resolve its tannins in 2-4 years, and last for 25 or more. 2007 Château de Vaudieu "Val de Dieu" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I think the strongest vintage for this cuvee to date (the 2010 is close), the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Val de Dieu is a big, rich, concentrated and age-worthy beauty that offers classic notes of black currants, black raspberries, toasted spices and graphite. A blend of 44% Grenache, 45% Syrah and 11% Mourvedre that was raised in demi-muids and barrels (some new), it still has a kiss of oak, thrilling purity and a huge mid-palate, all suggesting it’s going to be a long-lived Chateauneuf du Pape. Firm and vibrant, with no excess fat and vivid red and dark fruit flavors. Gains weight, flesh and deeper dark berry flavors on the finish, which leaves behind bitter cherry and licorice notes. Pretty serious, and built to age." Its dense plum/purple color is accompanied by a big, sweet bouquet of licorice, roasted Provencal herbs, meat juices, kirsch, black raspberries, and black currants. The long, flashy finish lets pastis and Black Forest cake notes emerge. This has some toast to absorb, but it's all there. Best from 2010 through 2025. 2007 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) "Cuvée Centenaire" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Two brilliant successes are Brunel’s cuvees of 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape. His limited cuvee of approximately 500 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Centenaire (made from 80% Grenache aged in foudre, and the balance Syrah and Mourvedre aged in one- to three-year-old small barrels) comes primarily from a parcel of 120-year-old vines in the northern part of the appellation in the lieu-dit known as Farguerol. This cuvee has only been made in vintages such as 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, and now 2007. Deep ruby/purple in color ...Read More »

2007 Château de Fonsalette Côtes-du-Rhône

This puts most Chateauneufs in the shade. (11/2009) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Deep red and dark berry aromas complicated by rose, lavender and smoky minerality.
