2015 Domaine de Biéville (Louis Moreau) Chablis Top Pick!
2015 Domaine de Biéville (Louis Moreau) Chablis

Domaine de Biéville was established by Jean-Jacques Moreau in the village of Viviers in the 1970s. The contiguous, 65-hectare vineyard was selected for its textbook truffières soil terroir and south/southwest exposure which resembles the premier cru classified vineyards of Chablis. Now with 45+ year old vines, Domaine de Biéville produces a textured and classically styled Chablis which shows its old vine pedigree on a complex and mineral-driven finish.

2015 Domaine Louis Moreau Chablis Top Pick!
2015 Domaine Louis Moreau Chablis

90 points Wine Spectator: "Round, with vibrant, underlying acidity and abundant apple, melon and lemon flavors. Reveals hints of stone and seashore as the finish lingers. (BS)" (7/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chablis Villages, bottled two weeks prior to my visit, has a light grassy bouquet, quite simple, but clean and defined. The palate is nicely defined with a slightly resinous entry, a keen line of acidity and a twist of sea salt on the finish. (NM)" (8/2016)

2015 Maison William Fèvre Chablis "Champs Royaux"

91 points James Suckling: "Bright and vivid aromas of sliced limes, green apples and stones. Medium-bodied, round and savory. Some gun-powder undertones. Lovely fruit and drinkability. All about the nose with this wine." (4/2017) 90 points Wine Spectator: "A stony undertow keeps the ripe peach, lime and floral flavors grounded in this white. Offers fine complexity and length, with a citrusy aftertaste. Drink now through 2020." (2/2017) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The composition of the aromas is largely the same though here the nose is slightly more complex. 2015 Domaine Long-Depaquit (Albert Bichot) Chablis Top Pick!
2015 Domaine Long-Depaquit (Albert Bichot) Chablis

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A fresh and relatively airy nose is comprised by notes of ripe apple, pear and just enough Chablis typicity to distinguish this from being say from the Côte d'Or. There is excellent richness to the very round, supple and succulent flavors that possess solid mid-palate density before terminating in a refreshing if slightly warm finish. Drink: 2018+" (8/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chablis Villages has a simple, but effective yellow flower scented bouquet with hints of peach skin developing in the glass. 2014 Domaine Louis Moreau Chablis 1er Cru "Vaulignot"

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Editors' Choice* Situated in a side valley away from the main Serein river, this cool vineyard produces crisp, cool, stylish wines. This one is fresh and bright, all fruit without wood aging. Touches of melon back up the red-apple flavors. The aftertaste is still young, so this wine will be best from 2017. (RV)" (5/2016) 90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is reasonably good Chablis character to the fresh aromas of iodine, oyster shell and green apple. 2014 La Chablisienne "La Sereine" Chablis

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Chablis la Sereine has a crisp, mineral, gypsum-scented bouquet that unfurls nicely in the glass but remains rather aloof. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, rounded in texture, but still fresh with a hint of clear honey and peach towards the long finish. This is quite stylish, if just missing a little complexity compared to its peers. (NM)" (8/2016) Wine Enthusiast: "This is a rich style of Chablis that has the crispness of 2014 while showing a more creamy, yellow fruit character. 2014 Billaud-Simon Chablis

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Chablis Villages from Domaine Billaud-Simon has a more floral bouquet than its peers with peppermint scents subtlety interwoven into the citrus and green apple aromas. The palate is very well balanced with a keen line of acidity. This just feels natural and harmonious, the finish just flowing across the mouth with requisite tension and mineralité for a Chablis. This constitutes an excellent Chablis Village. 2014 Domaine des Malandes Petit Chablis

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is plenty of Chablis character to the floral and citrus aromas where the former continues onto the cool, pure and racy flavors that possess plenty of punch along with ample salinity on the clean, dry and crisp finish. Lovely stuff and worth a look and note that this would make for an excellent house white." (10/2015) Wine Spectator: "The 2014 Petit Chablis was cropped at 60 hectoliters per hectare from 30-year-old vines and matured for six months in stainless steel. There is ample intensity and vibrancy to the utterly delicious and mineral-driven flavors that terminate in a notably dry and ever-so-mildly austere finish. This should be very good for its level." (10/2015) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Petit Chablis Sur les Clos comes from vines planted by Billaud's father and is shared with Faiveley (Domaine Billaud Simon). There is excellent richness and volume to the intense flavors that are as refined as the nose, all wrapped in a tension-filled, dry and impressively persistent finish. This outstanding and intensely mineral-driven effort should age to good effect." (10/2016) 93 points Vinous: "(the 2014 premier crus were bottled in January): Pale, bright yellow. 2014 Maison Drouhin-Vaudon Chablis 1er Cru "Montmains"

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains was picked on September 29, the last of Drouin's vineyards to be harvested. It has a refined bouquet with touches of mirabelle and honeysuckle on the nose, granite and slate notes tucked in just behind. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, quite tensile and energetic. it has crisp citrus fruit lining up on the finish. It deserves 3-4 years in bottle, but it should turn into a fine Montmains. (NM)" (8/2016)

2014 Domaine Drouhin-Vaudon Chablis-Les Clos Grand Cru

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos as picked on September 17 and has the highest alcohol degree and still is a modest 13.3%. The nose is quite complex and cohesive with yellow flowers and honeysuckle, a touch of granite underneath. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, more weight and fruit intensity than the Vaudésir, and then it fans out with confidence towards the finish with some lovely candied orange peel notes. The palate is extremely well balanced, tightly wound at first with outstanding spiciness and mineralité, fanning out wonderfully with a quite compelling finish that lingers in the mouth. 2014 La Chablisienne Chablis Grand Cru "Bougros"

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros does not quite possess the complexity and nuance of the Les Preuses this year, although it is still well defined with candied orange peel coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, a touch of spice on the tip of the tongue and plenty of salinity. I would just like to see more precision and mineral tones to come through on the finish that does not quite complete what could have been a fine Bougros. Give it 2-3 years in bottle. 2014 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos"

According to Stephen Tanzer, writing for Vinous.com: "I always look forward to visiting Benoit Droin's airplane hangar-like winery on the edge of town because it's a chilly respite from early-June heat in Chablis. But this year he was heating the large tank room because most of the 2014 malolactic fermentations had not yet finished. This borderline painfully intense offering is a notably special effort that is worth the trouble to find." 2014 Val de Mer Chablis

Val de Mer is a project from Chablis' rising star vigneron Patrick Piuze. Originally from Québec, Piuze has made wine at some of Chablis greatest estates--Olivier Leflaive, La Maison Verget and Jean-Marc Brocard. His winemaking style is traditional, with as little manipulation as possible in order to let the purity and vibrancy inherent in the fruit to shine through. His AOC Chablis is fresh and clean, with bright green apple and lemony citrus aromas and flavors underpinned by classic Chablis chalky minerality. A perfect partner to crab.

It has a clean and mineral-driven bouquet, perhaps more akin to a 2014 than a 2015. The palate is clean and fresh with a hint of lychee (coming from Les Cartes), counterbalanced by crisp acidity from Chapelot and a fine, minerally finish that already displays fine tension and salinity. I like the textured mouth feel to the round and relatively forward mid-palate of the medium-bodied flavors that possess fine depth and positively huge length on the citrus-inflected finale. This exceptionally promising effort is also going to need a few years of cellaring to develop but it should be terrific in time." Wine & Spirits: "Henriot’s domaine in Chablis includes three acres of vines on the steep, south-facing slopes of Vaudésir. The soils are predominantly chalky clay, mixed with Kimmeridgian limestone. The wine has the beautiful fresh scent of chamomile, a bright, pure expression of chardonnay that carries its chalky floral richness all the way through to a generous end. It’s powerful yet discreet, building layers of flavor intensity and seeming to only get fresher over the course of several days." (04/2014)

2014 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "Sechet"

89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a touch of dried apricot to the white peach, tidal pool and discreet citrus-infused nose. The lush but vibrant medium-bodied flavors possess good minerality and reasonably good detail, all wrapped in an impressively long and complex finish where a hint of lemon zest appears. This should reward up to a decade of cellaring." (10/2015) 90-92 points Vinous: "Bright yellow. Tight nose hints at crushed stone and menthol, plus a whiff of petrol. Tactile, intense and clean; shows strong minerality and acidity, and the nervosité that comes from calcaire, and yet it's not auster ...Read More »

2015 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos" (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Decanter: "A distinctly toasty nose, still reticent, with lime and apple fruit. Broad and rich, the palate shows ample sucrosity and intensity, lifted by fine acidity with a pungent and saline finish. Nutty and very long, and the wood seems well integrated. Drinking Window 2018 - 2030" (2/2017) 93-96 points Wine Spectator: "The Les Clos features a smoky, flinty nose, very minerally, balanced by citrus, apple and spice on a rich profile." (1/2017) 92-95 points Vinous: "Pale, slightly cloudy yellow. Pungent aromas of lemon, lime, spices and iodine are lifted by an almost metallic topnote. Then almost shockingly rich and ...Read More »

2015 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru "Fourchaume" (Pre-Arrival)

91-94 points Wine Spectator: "Fourchaume comes entirely from the Vaulorent lieu-dit, which abuts grand cru Les Preuses. Though rich and opulent in texture, it retains freshness due to its high altitude, along with a juicy, savory character." (1/2017) 90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe and agreeably fresh nose offers up notes of pear, apple, white flower and discreet ocean breeze nuances. There is impressive size, weight and richness to the medium-bodied flavors that possess a highly seductive, even slightly oily mouth feel yet there is plenty of punch to keep the finish well-balanced." (8/2016) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chablis 1Er ...Read More »

2015 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" (Pre-Arrival)

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet spot Outstanding* The cool and restrained nose is mostly comprised by notes of mineral reduction though there are background nuances of iodine, pear and white flowers in evidence. I very much like the power and intensity to the concentrated yet refined medium weight flavors that display more evident minerality on the beautifully textured and persistent finish that is ever-so-mildly youthfully austere. This is more classically styled than most of these 2015s." (8/2016) 91-93 points Vinous: "(just half a harvest--25 hectoliters per hectare--due to hail): Pale yellow. Cryst ...Read More »

2015 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros "Côte de Bougerots" (Pre-Arrival)

97 points Decanter: "From just over 2ha planted on the steepest part of the vineyard. Pungent yet elegant white peach nose of discreet power. Precise and lifted with ample fruit and a light touch. Silky and refined with minerality on the finish. Not a flashy style, but tense and very long." (1/2017) 95 points John Gilman: "Given how superb the 2015 “regular” Bougros is this year from Domaine Fèvre, I have very high expectations for the Côte de Bouguerots and they were not disappointed! The bouquet is deep, complex and very refined, delivering a fine constellation of green apple, pear, lime, crystalli ...Read More »
