2006&2007 Opus One Napa Valley Tasting Lot
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006&2007 Opus One Napa Valley Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 2006 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red (95JS, 93RP, 93ST, 90WE) and 1-bottle of 2007 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (96VN, 95RP, 94WS, 93JS, 93ST). Of the 2007 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Vinous writes: "There is so much to like about the 2007 Opus One. A wine that captures the essence of the year, the 2007 is exotic, flashy and striking. Kirsch, rose petals, pomegranates and spices form a fabric of compelling beauty. The 2007 is rich, sumptuous and generous, just as it should be. Threads of striking perfume are woven throughout, adding aromatic lift and pure sensuality. Readers who like more structured wines are likely to gravitate towards vintages such as 2010, but years like 2007 offer immense pleasure and an immediacy I find impossible to resist. A sumptuous, layered finish rounds things out in stunning style. (AG)" (06/2013)

2007 Calera "Ryan" Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From one of the property’s coolest sites, the 2007 Pinot Noir Ryan Vineyard reveals nearly overwhelming notes of sassafras, root vegetables, plums, red currants, and raspberries. It is a spicy, earthy effort with an autumnal-like herbaceousness. Aged 17 months in French oak (30% new), it is a Pinot Noir for those who prefer that varietal’s spicy, stemmy, earthy side. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of fruit in this complex, singular cuvee." (08/10) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is one of the most forward and accessible of Calera's new releases. 2007 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is unlike any wine I have ever tasted from Dunn. Layer after layer of flavor saturates the palate in this opulent, full-throttle Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2007 possesses dazzling textural richness, depth and sheer intensity. Purists may prefer more structured vintages, but for a producer known for such slow maturing wines, the 2007 is a huge pleasure to taste today. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2037. (AG)" (12/2011)

2007 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

94 points Wine Spectator: "Very complex, intense and spicy, delivering intense, persistent and rich dried berry flavors. (JL, Web-2012)" 91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star* Ripe and rich, very nicely concentrated, focused on black cherry fruit with touches of dried violets, cinnamon-like spice and quiet hints of dark chocolate, this very delicious wine feels just a bit on the blocky, slightly tough side at present but has the depth and beauty to insure that it gets better and better over time. 2007 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted too late to make it into the December issue, Merus’s 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits an inky/purple color as well as an extraordinary bouquet of blueberry liqueur intermixed with graphite, charcoal, cassis, and spice. The wood seems pushed to the background given the extraordinary concentration of fruit. Full-bodied, powerful, and rich with chocolaty espresso notes intermixed with blackberries and blueberries, this pure, impressively textured, long Cabernet should evolve for two decades. 2007 Schramsberg "J. Schram" North Coast Sparkling Wine

96 points Connoisseurs Guide: "This extraordinarily deep, explicitly champenized offering is a study in contrasts when it is compared to Schramberg's 2007 Reserve, for, while both are nearing their tenth anniversaries, this one shows its autolysis in a more refined light and wears its age with more elegance. It is rife with crème brûlée richness but has retained a subtle, but very sure sense of slightly juicy fruit that has not faded with time. It is a complete and compelling package that reveals more and more with each sip, and it ranks among the very best sparkling wines to be made ...Read More »

2007 Trivium "Les Ivrettes Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* A good, dry, fleshy wine. Not showing well now in its youth, because it’s tannic and unintegrated, with flavors flying all over the place. But there’s a solid core of blackberry and black cherry sour candy, a good sign. Give it at least 4–5 years in the cellar, and try again." (4/2011) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This pretty, gracious, elegant, restrained, medium-bodied 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Les Ivrettes Vineyard from proprietors Doug White and Jack Stuart represents a measured approach to winemaking. Bid on this magnum lot of 2007 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) (99RP, 98WS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Bone Rock, which comes from the James Berry Vineyard (82% Syrah, 13% Mourvedre, and the rest Grenache, also aged 28 months in a combination of smaller barrels, demi-muids, and pungeons), is super as well. Like its late-released sibling, it has an inky/purple color to the rim and an extraordinary, soaring set of aromatics consisting of spring flowers, pepper, graphite, blackberry and blueberry fruit with hints of raspberry and licorice and jus de viande as well. The extraordinary freshness and elegance of this wine leads to a minerality that even eclipses the Heart Stone. The finish goes on for a good 45+ seconds, and the purity is awesome. This extraordinary wine completes the 2007 portfolio of unbelievable efforts from the Smiths. (RP)" (08/2010)

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon along with the 2007 Proprietary Red are the finest wines I have yet tasted from Roy Estate. A beautiful nose of charcoal, creme de cassis, black currants, licorice and underbrush is followed by a deep, full-bodied, powerful wine with lots of texture, silky tannins and impressive density, as well as length. This wine has enough tannin to suggest 3-4 years of cellaring is required. It should age well for 25+ years. (RP)" (12/2010) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright full ruby. Tastes rich and compellingly good, like being swept away on a tidal wave of blackberry essence and cocoa. 2007 Sea Smoke "Ten" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "* Cellar Selection * This very dense, tannic Pinot Noir represents a triumph for both the winery, the vintage and the region it represents. A multi-clone blend (hence the name) with high, cool-climate acidity and aged in 100% new oak, it’s still young, fresh and tight. The astringency throws a cloak over the raspberries, cherries, rosehip tea and Indian spice flavors, which reveal themselves only reluctantly. Its opaque purple color is accompanied by gorgeously complex aromas of melted chocolate, espresso roast, blackberries, and cassis. The 2007 has more noticeable tannin than the 2002 did at the same stage as well as more obvious minerality, but notes of graphite, black currant liqueur, licorice, cedar, and spice box are found in this full-bodied, multidimensional, fabulously concentrated wine. A prodigious effort, it boasts a dense purple color along with gorgeously complex aromatics reminiscent of a hypothetical blend of a first-growth Pauillac and a top Graves. (RP)" (2/2010) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Deliciously rich and layered, pure and focused, with complex spice, wild berry, blackberry, huckleberry and blueberry flavors that are firm and full-bodied, gaining a pleasant earthy flavor on the finish. 2007 Cherry Pie "Stanly Ranch" Carneros Pinot Noir

Cherry Pie is another innovative offering from visionary winemaker Jayson Woodbridge, creator of Hundred Acre and Layer Cake Wines. The nose is redolent of dark Bing cherries, hints of black and white pepper on meat roasting in a wood oven, memories of English plum pudding steaming at Christmas, a touch of saddle leather, warm spice and tobacco at a distance. The nose continues to build and unfold with hints of violets and Portobello mushrooms, blackberries, minerals and sweet earth. It envelops the palette, almost to the point of overwhelming, then open... Read More »

2007 Beckmen "Purisima Mountain Clone No. 1" Santa Ynez Valley Syrah (Previously $50)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beckmen’s more limited offerings include the 2007 Syrah Clone #1 Purisima Mountain. Camphor, black raspberry, flower, and blackberry liqueur notes are found in this full-bodied, dense, chewy, classic Syrah. More similar to a northern Rhone Hermitage than its siblings, it should evolve for a decade or more. (RP)" (8/2009) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky ruby. Complex bouquet of blueberry, mulberry, smoked meat, incense and dried flowers. Lush and creamy, offering sweet, oak-spiced dark berry preserve flavors and a velvety texture. The harmony between the fruit and tannins is impressi ...Read More »

2007 Futo Oakville Bordeaux Blend

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "These proprietary reds are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2007 is the finest wine yet produced at Futo. A blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, a whopping 33% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot, it boasts a dense purple color as well as a gorgeously sweet bouquet of blue and black fruits, spring flowers, and crushed rocks, full-bodied power allied to compelling elegance, and a layered, multidimensional personality. There is plenty of depth in this beauty, and it is no doubt capable of putting on lots of weight and complexity given the Cabernet Fran ...Read More »

2007 Pax "Griffin's Lair" Sonoma Coast Syrah

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Pax Cellars Syrah Griffin’s Lair is a smoky, meaty offering that makes one think they are standing in the middle of a Texas barbecue pit. Copious notes of spice, pepper, meat juices, bouquet garni, and smoke drift past the olfactory senses and over the palate. Full-bodied, edgy, and grippy with high tannins as well as enormous richness and potential, it demands 2-3 years of cellaring, and should drink well over the following 12-15 years. (RP)" (2/2010)

The wine reveals sweet tannin, and layers of fruit, including a note of lavender that emerges as the wine sits in the glass. It should drink well for a decade. 2007 Wind Gap "Griffins Lair" Sonoma Coast Syrah

95 points Wine & Spirits: "Wind Gap is Pax Mahle's latest project, based on vineyards located at gaps in the coastal hills where inland heat draws the cool ocean air over the vines. Griffins Lair is in the Petaluma Wind Gap, a southwest-facing slope planted on coarse gravel and rock. The conditions restrain the young vines (02 was the first vintage), bypassing the clumsy vigor new plantings often express and creating a youthful brilliance instead. The structure is racy, opening up as the scent of the wine grows more compelling with each sip. It has the crush of black pepper inters ...Read More »

2007 Sloan Napa Valley Red Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Sloan Napa Valley Red Blend (100RP, 97JS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Sloan, now in bottle, has lived up to the extraordinary quality it exhibited from barrel. A world-class, perfumed nose of charcoal, espresso roast, white chocolate, black currants, sweet plums, Asian soy and a Grave-like scorched earth aroma soars from the glass of this dense purple-colored wine. Full-bodied and seamlessly constructed with a multidimensional mouthfeel as well as a phenomenal finish, this 2007 carries considerable tannin, but at present it is concealed by the wine’s luxurious levels of fruit, glycerin and intensity. 2007 DuMol Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

93 points Connoisseurs Guide: "*Two Stars* In the world of high-value Pinot Noir, the top of the line are the wines with vineyard designations, and the second tier are what are loosely called 'appellation bottlings.' There has never been anything wrong with those more 'generalized' labels, except for the obvious fact that the best grapes available to people like DuMOL, Williams-Selyem, Kosta Browne, Merry Edwards go into the pricey bottles with vineyard names while the appellation editions get the dregs. Well, if this wine is made from leftovers, they were obviously pretty spectacular ...Read More »

2007 Rochioli "East Block" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid red. Explosively perfumed aromas of black raspberry, candied cherry, smoky Indian spices and potpourri. Round and lush in texture, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors. Becomes spicier with air, picking up cinnamon and allspice qualities and finishing with excellent clarity and lingering sweetness. As exotic as this is right now, I'd put mine away for another three to five years. (ST)" (5/2009) 93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is perhaps the ripest wine in the range yet the elegance of the nose is not compromised as there is ample depth and purity of expression to the most ...Read More »
