2007 Paloma Spring Mountain District Merlot

91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "*Two Stars* Deeply fruited, impressively filled with a very keen sense of dark, well-ripened cherries that indelibly marks it as Merlot, Paloma's latest is an especially well-balanced working that is at once very rich, refined and remarkably polished. It does show a streak of fine-grained finishing tannins, but there is nothing so coarse as to raise any worries, and the wine's fruit eases its way past a bit of last-minute astringency. As good Merlot will, this one might tempt early drinking, but it has a long life before it and should evolve for years to ...Read More »

2007 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 98JS, 95WS, 94ST, 94VN, 94W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In 2007, there was another small crop with only 1,700+ cases produced, from a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. An absolutely staggering nose of blueberries, white flowers, crème de cassis, licorice and graphite is followed by a full-bodied, opulent, multidimensional wine that is seamless. Incredible fruit intensity, purity and depth of character make this one of the great, great classics in the Spottswoode lineup. This wine can be approached now, but it is nowhere near full maturity, and should evolve for at least another 30-40+ years. Owners of this vintage have liquid gold in their cellars. (RP)" (08/2016)

Broad, juicy red and dark berry flavors display liqueur-like depth and are impressively energetic and focused. The spiciness builds on the long finish, which leaves sweet red fruit notes behind." 2007 Windy Oaks "Estate Proprietor's Reserve" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

Prince of Pinot approved: "Primarily sourced from the 1.5-acre Bay Block, part of the original 3-acre vineyard. Aged 23 months in 75% new French oak barrels. Interesting disconnect between the reserved earthy nose and the flavorful fruit core. Shy scents of damp earth, decay, mushroom and oak. Intense flavors of dark red stone fruits and berries with hints of lovely spice, cherry cola and oak. Picks up power and interest over time in the glass offering a persistent tug of tasty strawberry fruit on the finish. Similar to the Estate Cuvée in taste, but ram... Read More »

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is quite a good Pinot Noir, although despite the tannin-acid tightness it's not likely to improve beyond 2011. Medium to full-bodied and pure, with good acidity and texture, this impressive Pinot will benefit from several years of aging. One-hundred percent whole clusters were used in its upbringing. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 96CG, 96VN, 96WS, 95JS, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aged 24 months in new French oak, this infant 2007 exhibits an inky/purple color along with notes of graphite, spring flowers and smoky oak. This full-bodied, classic Insignia reveals fabulous depth, ripeness, texture, viscosity and richness. Still young and unformed, it should evolve for 25 or more years. Drink it over the next decade." (12/2008) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Intensely perfumed bouquet of red and dark berries, potpourri, mocha and sandalwood. Sappy, palate-coating red and dark berry flavors possess serious depth but don't come off as heavy. 2007 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100JS, 100RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Scarecrow's inky/purple-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is a prodigious effort. It reveals a liqueur of crushed rocks intermixed with a smorgasbord of spring flower, blueberry, creme de cassis, and assorted blue, black, and red fruit characteristics. It also possesses extraordinary concentration, but what sets it apart is the fragrant aromatics combined with uncommon purity and elegance for such a full-bodied, massively concentrated wine. Its perfect balance suggests it can be drunk at a relatively young age, but it should easily evolve over 30-35 years. Congratulations to all involved! (RP)" (12/2009)

96-98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Previously recommended, no tastng note given. Following the brilliant success of Kistler’s 2007s, Steve Kistler and his sidekick, Mark Bixler, deserve kudos for what they have achieved in the more challenging 2008 vintage. This is the first vintage in which 100% of the fermentations were indigenous, and, fortunately, all their Sonoma Coast vineyards were far enough south that they were not tainted by any of the smoke from the ferocious fires that spread through Mendocino. 2007 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 97JS, 97ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The prodigious 2007 Harlan Estate reminds me of a hypothetical blend of the 2002 with a touch of the controversial 1997. Dense plum/purple-colored with sweet aromas of barbecue smoke, blueberries, blackberries, cassis, licorice, hot rocks and subtle oak, it is a splendidly opulent, pure wine with a skyscraper-like texture as well as stunningly deep fruit that expands gracefully across the palate. The finish lasts nearly a full minute. Because of its overwhelming richness and sweet tannins, this brilliant wine seems to be approachable now, but I suspect further nuances and complexity will emerge after 4-5 years in the bottle. This wine will still be going strong at age 25-30. Like the offerings from its sister estate, Bond, these Harlan Estate offerings are uncompromisingly brilliant examples of Napa viticulture and winemaking at its finest. Kudos to proprietor

This Pinot exhibits intense red cherry and black raspberry fruit intermixed with some damp earth and forest floor notes. The wine is medium to full-bodied, elegant, pure, and just hinting at its ultimate potential. The earlier review, same score: The brioche, hazelnut, creme caramel and tropical fruits dominate the flamboyant aromatics of the 2007 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch. This wine has full-bodied power, good acidity, and a heady finish. The relatively cool growing season for 2007 Chardonnays produced tightly knit wines with very crisp acid profiles, superb concentration because of modest yields, and relatively long aging potential of probably up to a decade for most of these Chardonnays. 97 points Connoisseurs Guide: "This collection of new Pinot Noirs raises the bar for the variety. It rates with the best showing from the best Pinot makers in California, and this outstanding wine comes out at the head of an altogether remarkable class. It is at once deep and profoundly fruity with a lavish display of optimally ripe cherries and perfectly fit oak, and, although high in extract and muscle, it is uncannily well-balanced and never less than brilliantly controlled. For all of its show-stopping richness, it is still far from its best, and only the sure promise of better wi ...Read More »

2007 Williams Selyem "Coastlands Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky ruby. Potent aromas of blackberry, boysenberry and dried rose, with exotic Indian spice and gingerbread nuances adding complexity. Deep, fleshy dark berry flavors show liqueur-like depth and intensity, with slow-building tannins adding grip and structure. Develops more vibrancy and red fruit character with aeration and finishes with outstanding clarity and sappy persistence. This is another '07 from Williams-Selyem that calls for patience. (ST) 94+" (6/2009) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The deepest-colored of these Pinots is the 2007 Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard. The opaque rub ...Read More »

An extraordinary nose of kirsch, black raspberry, forest floor, crushed rock, and a floral cocktail of notes jump from the glass of this dense ruby/purple-colored wine. 2007 Epoch "Ingenuity - Paderewski Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend

94 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe, fresh and juicy, with supple blackberry, wild berry and black cherry fruit that's spicy, balanced, complex and layered, ending with firm, integrated tannins. (JL)" (2/2010) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Ingenuity (another intriguing blend of 46% Grenache, 43% Syrah, and the rest Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, and Tempranillo) has a dense ruby purple color and a slightly more reserved, restrained style when compared to the exuberant Veracity. Much more delineation and minerality are present in this wine, which exhibits plenty of red and black fruit as well as note of graphite, ...Read More »
